I cannot sync on mobileme !!

Are they going to fix this?
I'm on snow leopard 10.6.1-
still trying to sync calendars with my other 3 macs....
ans all I get is a spod----
any idea when 10.6.2 will arrive?

Your signature says you are using 10.6.8 - this cannot work with iCloud. 10.7.2 is required (as you were warned during the migration process), and if your Mac has the specification for it you should consider upgrading (though be aware that old PPC programs such as Appleworks will no longer work).
This is the situation on Snow Leopard when you have migrated from MobileMe:
Your email, calendars, and 'Find my iPhone' will be migrated to iCloud. Contacts and Bookmarks cannot be migrated from a Snow Leopard Mac.
Your iDisk, together with website hosting and Gallery, will continue to work as before until next June.
Syncing of Dashboard Widgets, Dock Items and Keychains between Macs, and Mail Accounts, Mail Rules, System Preferences, Signatures & Smart Mailboxes between Macs & iOS devices, will cease altogether.
You will be able to access email and calendars on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point.  BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion.
There appears to be no method of syncing contacts (though Address Book on a Mac can be synced with Google or Yahoo address books - I don't know how reliable this is).
The requirements for upgrading to Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
Lion is $29.99 and is obtained from the Mac App Store.

  • Cannot sync existing MobileMe galleries with Entourage instead of iPhoto

    Hi.
I just purchased Aperture 3 and I am in the middle of totally replacing iPhoto with Aperture, or at least trying to.
I have a bunch of MobileMe gallery albums currently synced with iPhoto and would like to sync them with Aperture. I do not want to re-create them and have to send a new URL for each album to my friends.
I remember seeing a button in the MobileMe album settings to change that (when I did not even have Aperture installed).
And an Apple support article clearly describes it (at the end of http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1675)
But the "syncs with" button is now nowhere to be found on my MobileMe albums, which is very inconvenient.
Anyone else seeing (or not) this setting ? Or having found it in a new place?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jerome.

I am try to do exactly the same thing with the same problem.
The instructions are clear enough in the KB/TS1675:-
    "Additional Information
As a new feature in MobileMe Gallery, you can change the application with which an album is synced.
For example, if you add an album to your Gallery using iPhoto and you want to see it in the Aperture Gallery list:
    Select and enter the album
Click the Album Settings icon in MobileMe Gallery toolbar (looks like a light switch)
Change the application next to "Syncs with" from iPhoto to Aperture
    Click Change"
But there is no "syncs with" option....

  • Problem when syncing with MobileMe

I am using iPhone 3G, software 2.1. I use GMail for email (no problems) but my contacts, and only my contacts, sync through MobileMe.
The problem is that with MobileMe active, my Contact list, "Mail, Contacts and Calendars" settings and several other minor features simply do not work - they open, pause for a few seconds, then crash. The Mail application also hangs and crashes every other time I open it.
My local Apple Store restored 2.1, after which my Contact list and Email worked perfectly until I re-activated my MobileMe syncing, after which the problems resumed.
As the problems occurred only after MobileMe syncing is turned on, I assume this is the cause of the problem, but because "Mail, Contacts..." settings crashes every time I open it I cannot disable MobileMe syncing.
Any suggestions please? All help gratefully received...

This was resolved by completely removing the MobileMe account from the iPhone, rebooting it and adding the account again.

  • Ical not syncing to mobileme after upgrade

upgraded to new mobileme calendar. i cannot get my calendar to show up in mobileme. i have already tried resetting and syncing from my computer to mobileme. stuff on my computer calendar still does not show up. it will sync from mobileme to the computer. so do i just do all my calendar stuff on mobileme from now on?

I've put everything over to my MobileMe account in iCal, restarted my computer, made sure my account info is correct in iCal for MM, and it's syncing, but it's SO SLOW I've been at this all day and it's synced maybe 1.5 calendars. They aren't big at all. The biggest calendar I have is about 150 events and it's a baseball schedule. Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? It doesn't seem like it should take this long!

  • Contact Groups not showing up on Iphone when syncing with Mobileme

My contacts show up in my address book on my Iphone but when I go to look at my groups the page is blank and I cannot get back to my contacts without closing and reopening contacts but still no groups. I want my groups to show up. I have at least 4 groups that show up on my me, and syncs fine with ipad....
I THINK THIS IS A ISSUE with the new verizon iphone.
    Please help if anyone has

I am having a similar issue. As is my wife. I also believe that it is a bug in the current iOS on the CDMA iPhone 4.
It is just as you described, and I have to close Contacts completely in order to restore my access to the contacts list. And, like you, our groups show up just fine on our iPads (within minutes of making changes, as we sync over MobileMe).
It doesn't appear to be a letter-case issue, as at least my login is in all lowercase letters.
I sure hope that this is fixed in an iOS update soon! It's rather problematic for those of use who use their iPhones for business purposes.

  • CANNOT SYNC IPHONE

When I try to sync my Iphone with Itunes, it just shuts down with the error ''Itunes has stopped working'' . My laptop is windows vista and has not synced any iphone before this so dont really know what to do. Any suggestions ?

You don't use iSync to sync the iPhone. iSync is only for syncing non-Apple mobile phones.
You also cannot sync the iPhone via Bluetooth - you must sync the iPhone using iTunes via a USB cable, or over-the-air via MobileMe.
All the information for how to sync the iPhone is in the manual:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iphoneuserguide.pdf
    Page 7 onwards.

  • CANNOT SYNC MAIL IN ITUNES?

FIRSTLY PLEASE EXUSE THE CAPS.IM PARTIALLY SIGHTED
CAN ANYONE HELP ME ,I CANNOT SYNC MY MAIL IN ITUNES,I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE BUT THE ACCOUNT IS CORRECT WITH DETAILS ETC & IVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE,SO IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME OUT ,I WULL BE VERY GREATFUL,THANKYOU
AS I SAID,PLEASE EXUSE ME WRITING IN CAPS,I FIND IT VERY HARD TO READ & WRITE IN LOWERCASE.I AM NOT SHOUTING OUT OK

ITUNES WILL SYNC YOUR EMAIL SETTINGS DURING THE SET UP PROCESS BUT DOESN'T SYNC THE MAILBOXES.
IF YOU HAVE A MOBILEME/GOOGLEMIL/YAHOO MAIL .IMAP TYPE MAIL ACCOUNT, OR SOME OF THE MS EXCHANGED BASED MAIL SERVERS, YOU CAN HAVE THESE PUSH YOUR EMAIL TO THE IPHONE SO THEY +ARE IN SYNC+ ACROSS APPLIANCES.
A TYPICAL POP3 ACCOUNT AS STILL OFFERED BY MANY INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS IN THE UK SUCH AS ORANGE/BT/SKY ETC.......... EXPECTS TO HAVE JUST ONE EMAIL CLIENT SIGNED IN AT ANY ONE TIME SO ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO ACTUALLY SYNC OVER AIR.
AN ADDED DIFFICULTY SINCE YOUR ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCESS THE IPHONE FILE SYSTEM YOU CAN'T DRAG THE MAILBOX OR MS OUTLOOK .PPT FILES ONTO THE PHONE EITHER.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
For starters, would you please click My Settings on the right side of this window and tell us what kind of computer you have and which operating system (version number or name). That will help us to help you in the future. Thanks!
I have not tried this myself but check out this link for help. No guarantees.

If you are successful in transfering your photos and iTunes music to the new computer, immediately back up those files to another source. Buy an external hard drive, get a MobileMe account and use an iDisk... it's very important to keep your personal data backed up on a timely basis.

  • Deleting iPhone contacts & syncing with MobileMe

I had been syncing iphone contacts to a mobileme account and then wanted to instead sync them to another mobileme account (the main account in a family).  This is a problem since you cannot delete all the contacts on the iPhone (I had 2000 of them.) and iPhone syncing with mobileme does not allow you to replace contacts on the iPhone with what is on mobileme.  (iPhone allows only a merge which would duplicate contacts and add many I no longer wanted.)  After considering the "solution" offered by a "Genuis" which was to reset the iPhone and start over which is a painful process to reorganize the apps and login all apps that require it, etc.  Instead I developed the following procedure that worked great (This was with Mac OS 10.6.8 and IOS 4.3.5):
    1) Sync address book on Mac to make sure mobileme is up to date.
    2) Backup all the address book to an address book archive and/or select all contacts and save in a vcard file (File -> Export)
    3) Uncheck sync of contacts in MobileMe (Apple -> System Preferences -> MobileMe -> Sync tab)
    4) Select all contacts in Address Book and hit delete (Edit -> Select All, then hit delete)
    5) Select all groups in Address Book and delete (select first group, hold shift and click last group, then hit delete)
    6) Connect iPhone and sync.  Go to info tab in iTunes and select Sync Address Book Contacts, then Under Advanced, check Replace Information on this iPhone - Contacts.  This will transfer contacts (none) from Mac to iPhone which will delete all existing iPhone contacts.  Click apply and then sync.
    7) After sync, disconnect iPhone and verify there are no contacts on iPhone.
    8) On iPhone, go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Accounts -> MobileMe (login if you haven't done so), turn on Contacts (to sync with mobileme)
    9) In a few minutes, the contacts on the iPhone (none) will be merged with the desired contacts in MobileMe and the contacts in MobileMe should show up in the iPhone Address book - This completes the iPhone.
    10) On the Mac, go to Apple->System Preferences->Mobile Me->Sync tab and recheck Contacts.  Click Advanced, Reset Sync Data, select only Contacts and transfer contacts from MobileMe cloud to the Mac, and click Replace.
    11) In a few minutes, all contacts and groups from MobileMe should show up in the Mac Address book and you are done.

    Yes I did select merge.
Did it 2 times without anything happening on iPhone or MobileMe.
Third time it deleted my contacts on the iPhone.
Is there no option to tell it which direction to do the merge/sync?

  • Syncing two MobileMe accounts problem after upgrade

My wife and I have two iPhones with MobileMe family account...we share a joint MobileMe calendar and email + we both have individual email accounts and our own contacts. Before the upgrade, we had no problems syncing all of these.
Now, we can still sync both the joint and the individual email accounts on one iPhone, but we cannot sync individual contacts + the joint calendar.
Is this somehow now allowed anymore for some reason?
    Chris

We have the Mobile Me family plan:
    - Together we share a joint email account/calendar (we want these syncing to BOTH phones).
    - Individually, we each have our own email account/contacts (these DO NOT sync to both phones).
A week ago, this arrangement worked fine...but something changed (the update?).
In Settings, I set the phone to sync my personal Email Account and Contacts. I then go to the joint Email Account and Calendars to set syncing. The email works fine...but when I switch the Calendar syncing on, the Contacts of my personal account switches off. The reverse happens when I try to switch on my personal Contacts syncing; joint Calendar syncing turns off.
    Thanks!

  • I cannot access my mobileme's account from my Ipad 2

I cannot access my mobileme's account from my Ipad 2 because it assumes I do not have an account and need to create a new one (I can access my mobileme's account from my MacBook Pro). What can I do?

What are you trying to look up on your mobile me account?  You should be syncing mobile me e mails, contacts, ect.  You have to set them up.

  • 03.12.12 i cannot access my MobileMe server.

Today 03.12.12 i cannot access my MobileMe server. I have it as a legacy from last year but have not received any notification that it would be switched off today. I need access to my data - How & who do I need to contact at Apple to help me resolve this?
My iCloud accout is working fine.

I knew it was coming but the comfort of it still working (yesterday all was good) meant I kept taking advantage of it!
You can't have been accessing the server - it's been closed since 1 August (and you will not be able to recover any data from it).
Were you using 'iDisk Syncing'? This is where you have a 'local copy' on your Desktop which in the past would have synced with the server, but obviously has not been doing so. However you would still be able to place data in it, but it has presumably now decided to disappear.
The 'local copy' is sourced from a 'sparsebundle' disk image which lives in (user)/Library/FileSync (and then in a sub-folder) so you may be able to locate that and open it to retrieve your data. However some people have reported difficulty in doing this, suggesting the file had become corrupted. You can only try. I really wouldn't bother contacting Apple: they won't be able to retrieve any of your data.

  • HT204053 my user name was misspelled on iCloud. I am sure this is why I cannot sync information.

I have been unable to sync my iPhone 5 to my iMac through iCloud.  My username was misspelled on my iCloud account. I have attempted to correct this to make everything match.  Could this be why nothing will sync?

I had the same problem, and like you, I have [email protected], @mac.com and an account that is just "posimosh".  Furthermore, I have my primary email on the straight "posimosh" account set to be [email protected]  I have (as you may have guessed) had countless billing/syncing/contact/mobileme problems since the original .mac was created with "posimosh" as the login.  I have called various apple departments countless times at whitch point I usually get the response "that's impossible."  After we get done resetting my password/ logging out/in rebooting etc.  They usually send me to second level support at which point they apoligize for my inconvieience. I then am told to do all the things I just did with level one support all the while explaining, "I already did this" and "there should be a service note on my account."  I digress
It sounds like you are in a similar situation, so I was wondering, have you found any tricks/tips to make your life easier with icloud? for me it seems to have just compounded the problem.  If so, is there any perticulat dept at apple that helped you with this?  I ask cause my time is valuable, and  I cannot spend half a day on the phone with support (who seems to be reading off the same faq's I can read off).  In any case, I really wish they would allow me to have a one time combination of all of my accounts (with the same name btw) so that I stop losing my music (or having duplicate or triplicate purchased show up in itunes), my contacts, calanders, and other media.  Sorry to be so long winded but I scan the first few pages of .me posts in the forum to no avail as this perticular problem seems to be impossible to search for on the forum (think about forming a search string for this issue and you will see what I mean.)

  • Added calendar in iCal not synced to MobileMe

I moved a calendar from "On My Mac" to my MobileMe account group, using the export-import method. The new calendar, however, does not sync to MobileMe. I even tried an overwrite (bookmarks, calendars, contacts and keychains) from my Mac to MobileMe but the added calendar still did not appear in MobileMe.
I quit and relaunched iCal, which started an immediate sync. The new calendar promptly disappeared from iCal and I got a string of error messages (one for each entry in the new calendar, it seems) all ending with
    The server responded with
    “HTTP/1.1 409 Conflict”
and asking me to either "Go Offline" or "Revert to Server". It didn't seem to matter which one I selected – the error just kept cropping up. Eventually, I gave up and force quit iCal.
How can I add a new calendar to iCal that will sync with MobileMe?

    Derek,
I presume that this procedure represents exactly what you have tried to accomplish?
Import an iCal calendar or event
If you use iCal and want to add your iCal calendars and events to a MobileMe calendar, you can import them.
    Hide
    To import an iCal calendar:
Open iCal, and then select the iCal calendar you want to import into your MobileMe calendar.
Choose File > Export > Export.
Type a calendar name, choose a location from the Where pop-up menu, and click OK.You can store the exported file anywhere, and you can delete it after you finish importing it.
Choose File > New Calendar, and then choose a MobileMe calendar (by default, your MobileMe email address).
Type a calendar name (you can use the same name as the calendar you just exported), and press Return.
Choose File > Import > Import, select your exported iCal calendar, and then click Import.
Select the destination MobileMe calendar to which you want to add the imported iCal calendar, and then click OK.
Quit iCal and go to the Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder and delete any/all files with "Cache" as a part of the name. Log out/in or restart and reattempt using the exact procedure which I copied from the MobileMe Help page.
