So i cant add my email to my ipod touch. It gives me a message that my username or password for imap.gmail.com is incorrect. I've reset it and still no luck.

Can you log into your Google mail account on a computer? Try that to be sure your email settings are correct.

I have got an iPod Touch and till the recent update of iOS 5, I was able to connect and access my Gmail Account from my iPod. But now I am unable to add my Gmail account to the iPod and connect the same.

Check capitalization. The password is certainly case-senstive, and your username/email address might be as well. In the case of the password, you must get it exactly right. In the case of the username/email address, you can usually enter it as all lower case. Also, try your username with the @gmail.com suffix; your username might not be accepted without it.

I Have a mac desktop computer (if that matters) & i have an iPhone 4. the kids love to play apps/games on it so for xmas hubby & I got the kids both an iPod Touch. Ive never had an issue with adding anything to my phone. last night i went to set up the kids'iTouch & i am able to add music, pics & videos but NOT apps. Ive read a lot of you saying click "sync apps" but i cant even do that, it's all grey/unclickable. im so upset cause these are very expensive toys.
also do i need to make them their own apple ID?? i want use to all be able to use the music & apps i have on this computer. but when i try the iMessage it wont work cause both iTouches are under the same apple ID as my iPhone 4. i really want the kids to be able to use the iMessage & facetime with their grandparents back in the states. & with dad when hes away on work trips (when he upgrades to the iPhone in june).

- Are restrictions set on the iPod that prohibit installing apps? Settings>Genera>Restrictions.

Is there any chance your AOL account has been hacked? Check it to make sure your password is still what you think it is.
Also make sure caps lock isn't on when typing your password.

I interesting note:
MAILBIRD uses port 993 for incoming mail but THUNDERBIRD uses port 143
When uses 143, it kept " checking capabilities...."
then I changed to port 993 (like in MAILBIRD), it said "connected to.....mail," but then "timed out"

I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what you are trying to log into with your Apple ID, or what exactly you are seeing (alert message, directions, etc) when you try to do so.
