Exactly which Mac OS X version is currently intalled?
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
If you see v10.7 you can use Lion Recovery to reinstall OS X.

For others benefit, here is what happened.
I had installed Logic Studio 9.1 some time ago.......not knowing what all the programs were nor what they did, I created a "Logic Studio" subfolder in my applications folder and put all Logic Studio programs into it so I'd know where they were and could review each at my leisure over time.
My assumption now is that when the updater looks for the Logic Pro program, it looks only in the applications folder. It seems lame that it would not also look in the subfolders of the applications folder, but that apparently IS the way it works. Because my Logic Pro program was located in the "Logic Studio" subfolder, the updater just didn't see it..hence the error message I received when I tried to update.
Solution: I moved all the Logic Studio programs out of the subfolder and now they reside in the applications folder. Ran the 9.1.5 updater and it worked like a charm. -

You have entirely too little free space on the boot drive, for best performance it's best to have hard drives only 50% filled max and never more than 80% filled.
See Storage Drive here and reduce some space also make a seperate bootable clone backup of all your data BEFORE upgrading

Why is my computer slow?
If you upgrade and it doesn't go right or slows the machine down you might need to erase and install, which all your programs will have to be reinstalled from original sources and files from backup.

If you can't do this, then hire a local PC/Mac specialist.
Do not upgrade to 10.7 or 10.8 on that older machine, it will slow down and you will lose all your PPC based programs.
Leave the Lions for a brand new machine with a SSD drive. -
I don't have the latest ipod touch and therefore can't download the app '12 days of christmas'. The app details say that you don't need to use a device and that you can "download the gifts from your computer". How do I do this, as I know its not possible to diretly use an app on a computer?

I couldn't open the files from a Canon XF 300 into Final Cut Pro 7, so I downloade the plugin from Apple but still can't open the files. I opened and clicked on the installer icon. I'm not sure the plugin was actually installed. C

Message was edited by: BigDealCam123As you probably know the Canon plug-in enables Log & Transfer in FCP7. I'm not sure whether it works with Final Cut Express or not.
Look in Applications>Canon Utilities. I'm running 10.6 as well and that is where it's located on my machine.

It's currently taking me ages to send multiple emails as I'm having to copy and paste the email each time. Does anyone know if there is a way that I can send the same email several times but that can be addressed (Dear....) to different people?
Oh at least just duplicate the same email several times so all I will be maunally inserting each time will be the address/name??? Please help!!!

However the trick is that it cannot download at all.I m asked to download the application. Then I put my Apple ID, then it start to download but just 1s... Then ....Nothing. No application, no error message... Just a nice invoice.... -

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iTunes purchases. It sounds like you may have been looking in the Account Information page, but there is a separate Purchases section you can download the songs from.
I recommend downloading your purchases directly to your computer using the Purchases page in the iTunes Store using these steps:
Download previous iTunes Store purchases to an authorized computer
Click iTunes Store near the top of the iTunes window.
Click the Purchased link at the right of the iTunes Store homepage (below Quick Links).
In the page that appears, select a category.
iTunes shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your iTunes library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download. If you select Music, you can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re viewing by album, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading.
To download all available items, click Download All.

Difference between read and view only -users having both permissions can download the documents
Hi All,
Would like to know whats the difference between view only and read permission.
As per my requirement, my end users who have been assigned View Only should NOT be able to Download the document from a doc lib.Whereas who have Read permissions should be able to download.
But when i tested with few users with these permissions, those users who are having viewonly permissions was able to download the documents.
how this will be true? MS says that this is not possible if it contains server side handlers.
my customer worried about the download-the-document part. as per them end users who have view only permissions should not download the docs.Hi,

To avoid inconsistencies, all roles from which a role is derived are also downloaded. When you download composite roles, all the roles which they contain are also downloaded.
When you upload a role, all role data, including authorization data is uploaded from a file into the SAP system. The user assignments for the role and the generated profiles for the role are exceptions in this case. You must therefore regenerate the authorization profiles after the upload.

my dad has sent me a gift an app for the new game 'grand theft auto san andreas' on the app store at around 17:00 today. After a while (around half an hour to an hour) the gift an app redemption email was not recieved. my dad then decided to gift it once more. the time is now 21:30 and both gift an app redemption emails have still not been recieved. i have double checked through all of my emails, in every folder and no emails are anywhere to be found. we have both checked that he got my email address correct, and it was. we have also tried going into 'account' on the app store to try to directly resend it but no option ever came up. i have tried canceling one of the 'gift an apps' but i have found no way to directly cancel it. i am now worried that my dad is going to be charged twice for an app he only wanted to buy once. and i am also worried i may not even get a redemption email. please help!
