I feel like I have been taken advantage of

The OS3 had to be the biggest waste of money I have ever spent at the Istore. The crippled bluetooth really makes me feel like I have wasted my money. Why does apple always do this with their products.
I hope google comes out with a mp3 player with wireless inet

The same thing happened to me.  I ordered 2 Samsung Galaxy 4 phones in March.  The promotion was $100 credit on each line.  I called and talked to a customer service rep before I placed the order to make sure we qualified for the promotion since I was upgrading 2 lines from basic phones to smartphones but not adding new lines.  I was told that we did qualify and we would get the credit.  I still have not received the credit.  I was on the phone with Verizon today for 1 hour and 42 minutes and was told they never had that promotion and I would have to prove they did.  How can I possibly do that?  On the other hand, Verizon should have a record of my phone call with the customer service person and surely they have a record of what promotions they had and when.  I think Verizon should honor what their representatives tell us even if they are wrong. I too feel scammed.  I still can't believe that I was told today that Verizon never had that promotion and I have to provide proof!  What terrible customer service.

There are alternatives. But none of them have Google street view, able to work on iOS 6. Apple should have offered this as a beta version, for a few more months instead of inflicting us with an inferior product. This iPad will probably be my last Apple product. A shame, because until last a few days ago, I thought the iPad and iPhone were fantastic.
Apple should quit their petty squabbling with, Google and Samsung and concentrate on supplying the best product.
Google and Samsung must be enjoying this particular fiasco.

  • Feel like I have been mis-sold. Can I cancel?

    Hi,
I have recently moved house and was advised by BT that in order to get the phone-line set up to my house (it's a new build property), then I would also have to take out a BT calls package. I accepted this at the time as I needed a phone-line and with all the other pressures of moving house, disputing this with them was not my top priority. However, in hindsight, I think I have been forced into taking out a phone package with BT that I do not want.
Also, I have also signed up to BT Unlimited but was not made aware of the Traffic Management policy; either by the person I spoke to on the phone, nor have I been provided with any paperwork outlining any of the T&Cs. As such, this package is not suitable for my needs.
Am I in a position to be able to cancel my contract, as I feel like I have been mis-sold these products and have not been provided with adequate/the correct information by the Customer Services staff?

Off course you can, anyone can cancel a contract anytime they like.
I think your question should have been "Can I cancel my contract without having to pay cancellation charges."  Thats debateable

  • I am a  recent Apple convert and feel like I have been ripped off

I purchased a 13inch MacBook since I was getting a little bit tired of having to constantly reboot my PC. Bought a 13 inch MacBook in Nov 2008. Since this was my first Mac and did not have any other accessories/sofware etc from the pc world, I invested in buying all the accessories - duplicate power cords, apple care, more memory etc... all original ones from Apple (read expensive). I did not mind it since I was thinking that I will be using the MacBook for a long time. I recently found that my battery was not holding the charge and so I scheduled an appointment at the Genius bar at a local Apple store. I was told by my die hard Apple fans that enter all the details in and since you have Apple care, they will have a new battery waiting for you. I arrive at the designated time and (the person who was helping me had not even bothered to find out why I was there for - ok, granted he must have been busy). He sticks a usb drive and runs some program which tells him that the battery needs to be replaced. He then continues to tell me that the battery needs to be replaced and that I have an option to buy it at the store. I obviously asked him why I needed to buy when Applecare should have covered it. He rattled off some technical balther and finally it amounted to that the program he was running said that my battery had failed and Apple considers anything over 300 recharge cycles as having 'failed'. How in the world a common user like myself supposed to know this? When I challenged him to show where in Applecare this was stated...he pretended to look on the web and turned to a colleague of his for support and all they ended up doing was point me to the description for battery coverage for batteries under Applecare, which is quite vague. Here is my question - I have taken good care of my Macbook. I have seldom used it solely running on battery. I have always had the Macbook plugged in. Is'nt this unusual for my battery to fail this early and not being covered by Applecare?
I would have gladly purchased, had I known in advance what constituted failure- ie over 300 cycles etc..(though I would have questioned that this could be attributed to some manufacturing defect for it to fail so early). Why does not Apple state it as such as a part of the warranty description? This in my mind is a rip off.
I was planning a trip and did not want to be left without a battery so I was forced to buy one at $129. The gentlemen at the genius bar spoke to his manager and cut a deal for half the price. The whole incident has left a very sour taste for Apple's products and service - not sure if there are other similar surprises lurking in fine print in Applecare land.

In the future, ask about that stuff here first. Mac accessories (such as memory) are often different, but they shouldn't be any more money than the PC versions.

It is not that automatic, but not far from it either.

It sounds like you just had a loser. Complain about them and go to a different store. If you don't have another store handy, talk to the manager.

A spare battery is a good thing to have.

Just avoid that store in the future. Most places are much better than that.
The real question here, the one that the "genius" didn't ask, is why you have a cycle count > 300. I have a 2006 Macbook, a 2007 Macbook, and one spare battery I bought sometime in 2006. The two batteries I have installed have cycle counts of 245 and 222, respectively. How can your 2008 Macbook have cycle count greater than 300? You should keep an eye on that.

  • I feel like I have been duped by the Edge program.

Who do I contact to review my verizon experience in regards to a purchase made over a year ago?
The documents section does not hold files that long, so where can I find a copy of my receipts and agreements?

You could call verizon's customer service and say you nevered recieved a receipts. They could possible send them to you.  I am notsure if that will work tho.  If you tell them you are trying to dispute something then they probably won't send them.
    What is going on?

Apple will repair or replace at its discretions, parts found to be defective in materials or workmanship.
You will have to discuss whether your history warrants a complete replacement with the folks at the Genius Bar.
I do not speak for Apple, but it sounds to me like you have been unlucky, but not unlucky enough (or have spent so much time with your MacBook in the shop) to warrant a complete replacement.
You have not provided any details of what the faults were or what was replaced. If they replaced the motherboard, you already got a new computer -- because everything except the drive and the display is on that board.

  • Has anyone had any luck returning there iMac w/ Lion? I couldn't even reconnect back to the iternet tonight w/o restarting my new iMac....  Looks like folks have been having this problem for months

Has anyone had any luck returning their iMac w/ Lion? I couldn't even reconnect back to the iternet tonight w/o restarting my new iMac....  Looks like folks have been having this problem for months & months .. The Apple tech told me that all I could do is wait for Apple to come up with a fix... Got a new router this week so that isnt' it.  Would I be better off w/o this until Apple gets their act together?  I downloaded the combo update 10.7.3 & it helped for about a day...  yesterday I still had to manually reset the connection but now it's resorting back to disconnectiong w/o fully going into sleep mode first.  Sorry to say this is a major lemon.  Help!

Seems unfair... I thought I was probalby having a router problem...  got a new router this week. Thst's when we realized we have a computer problem.  My next door nieghbor got zero sleep staying up all night while trying to help us figure out what the problem could be. He said if it were him he would have returned the iMac / Lion.  Got the new iMac w/ Lion for Christmas but didn't realize until this week that Apple is the problem....  Hard to believe that Apple just has kept on selling this like ... oh  No problem!  Can't stay on the internet... but will sell you another one today!  I'm getting mad...  It's not every day we spend that kind of money on a computer .  & ALL they can give us is that LOUSY Lion combo update.  I can't even stay connected long enough to make a vitamin order with Puritan's Pride...  & then the disconnection wipes out my cart... so I have to  start over. When are they going to fix this!   'Not feeling very positive'.  I feel like Apple KNOWINGLY sold my husband a defective... system.  14 days... oh please...

  • Can I manually force ALL photos from my ipad/iphone to the cloud? If I understand it correctly photos don't store in the cloud until 1000 pics have been taken.

I read that photos are not stored in the cloud until 1000 have been taken on my device's. Is there a way to force all my photo's to the cloud so they are not stored on my device's?

If you switch on your Photo Stream, then it will store any number of photos up to 1000 photos.  No, you would have to manually delete them from your device if you want to, but the Cloud will only store 1000 as I say.  When you get to picture #1001, then picture #1 will disappear, so I would recommend storing your photos somewhere else, like backing up on your computer of external HDD.

  • I feel like I just got taken big time!

I just got off the phone with Verizon Customer Service, and I feel like I've been subjected to the big shakedown.  First, some background.  My mom had a cell phone account with two lines, one hers and one mine.  For a number of reasons, we decided to transfer ownership of the account to me, so she called CS and gave verbal consent for that to happen.  After that was done, I had to get on the line and agree to accept responsibility for the account.  No problem so far.  The CS rep and I start talking, and she notices that I just got a Droid Incredible.  We proceed to have a nice conversation about how great the phone is, and the backorder problems, etc.  Then the hammer drops!  She informs me that HTC will not honor the manufacturer warranty on the phone since I am assuming responsibility for the account.  She tells me that my only options are to pay $1.99 a month to buy the extended warranty, or some greater amount of money (7 or 8 dollars a month) for more coverage.  What a rip off!  First of all, nothing about the account changed except the name of the primary owner.  Second, I paid the $150 for the phone and they are now telling me that I will not get the warranty that I am entitled to unless I pay them extra.  Of course, she said that it is HTC's fault, not Verizon.  What a way to treat long time customers!

    mdb296 wrote:
How is this Verizon Wireless' fault?  If you read the owner's manual it states that the manufacture's warranty is only valid to the original buyer. If you change the account owner then technically you are not the orignal buyer.  Changing the owner of the account is an option not a requirement and they were just informing you so you could make an educated decision. If you buy a new car then sell it to your mother does she get the manufactures warranty... no.
Apparently, you did not read my post.  I am talking about the phone itself.  I was the original buyer of the phone, so whether the phone service contract is under my name or another family member's name, I feel that I am still entitled to get the manufacturers (HTC) warranty on the phone itself.  The CS rep I talked to said that it was HTC's fault, not theirs, and maybe it is.  But I do fault Verizon for agreeing to conditions with a phone manufacturer that ends up screwing their customers in certain circumstances.  In my opinion, it is not a good business practice and certainly doesn't foster any sense of customer loyalty or satisfaction.

I have signed out then back into the cloud.  I have comfirmed location of the photostream folder.  I have have even restored settings on my phone.  any ideas on what I can do to get it working again?  or do I have to accept defect, and manually save my photos?

  • I just want to keep CSx updated and continue to use it like I have been.

I'm an individual.. One computer!, no team or bank of computers... Just me..
    I don't need a cloud! I don't want a cloud!
I just want to keep CSx updated. and continue to use it like I have been.
Cost me about $600 every other year to keep this updated.
I can afford $600/every other year.
What do I need to do to keep using The Design Premium CSx ??

Short answer:   You are [or eventually will be] outdated and out of luck.
I've been a master collection user since it's been availaboe, but I've been struggling with this and other questions, and have come to the conclusion that I need to be proactive in looking for alternatives, so when the day comes that CS6 stops working on new hardware, I'll have options.
My biggest concern is that with the current CC model, if a user decides to stop, or can't afford, their subscription fee, thirty days later they loose access to ALL THEIR CREATIVE WORK-- without monthly activation,  all the CC software STOPS WORKING!
Moreover, after everyone is on the CC hook, what is to stop Adobe from charging $100 per month, or $300....  As a huge company driven by investors and quarterly profits they will charge whatever the market will bear.  Many will be held hostage to the subscription fee, no matter how high it goes, because they won't be able to afford to loose access their creative work.  So... going forward the market will probably bear a lot more than $49 per month.
Then, if this wasn't enough risk, there is also the dependence on the web and Adobe's IT infrastructure to keep the software "activated".  I know it is probably extremely unlikely, but what if they suffer a cyber-attack like many other large and theoretically "secure" companies?  What kind of havoc could an attacker wreak with the creative community if suddenly all our software stopped working?  You may laugh, but I just read an article today on cNet Security about how Twitter's domain registration was hacked by SEA-- at least for a brief time, SEA was the admin for the Twitter domain records.
Since hearing Adobe's plans, I realised that over the years, with the exception of 3D, I've gravitated to Adobe for all my creative work-- they really do make great software.  Even though this represents a huge investment in time and "learning curve", I've started to seriously evaluate alternatives.  When the day comes that CS6 is no longer working on new hardware, I hopefully will already be using other brands.
My current thinking:  If Apple makes FCP 11 a professional tool again, that would be my first choice for video.  If they don't, I've been taking a hard look at Sony Vegas-- or there is always Avid.  For compositing, while I really know and love After Effects, I have a copy of Eyeon's Digital Fusion that came free with Lightwave3D that I've never even installed.  It is now out of the closet and sitting on my desk, waiting until I have a few minutes to install it to give it a try.  For photo editing and vector graphics, I've been looking at the Corel suite-- I haven't used Corel in years, as it always seemed "clunky" compared to Illustrator,  but it is a viable alternative, and used and loved by many.  Photoshop is an industry standard and I've used it for fifteen years, but I also have both Gimp and Cinepaint on Mac, and use them frequently already.  They aren't as capable or as slick as Photoshop, but they do everything I need, so photo editing is covered.  As far as web tools, Dreamweaver is nice, but web development can be done with any editor.  Flash (and all browser plugin technology) is being supplanted by HTML5 and Javascript, so loosing Flash, going forward, is no great loss.  I haven't used it in over a year anyway, but f I really need 2D animation there is always (gasp) Silverlight, and maybe also other tools that I'm currently unaware of.  InDesign isn't a concern for me as I almost never do print.
So bottom line for me:   If Adobe works out a compromise where the software keeps working even if the subscription lapses, then it would be a different ballgame for me. I'd even be willing to agree to pay two or three year contract before the perpetual license kicked in.  However, as it stands, the CC subscription (and potentially vanishing software) represents a level of trust in Adobe that I'm not prepared to give.

My safari browser seems to have been taken over by a malicious program called only-search.  Does any one know how to uninstall this program from safari?  I am running osX 10.10.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
