I have a new Ipad 2 but I have failed to have it work. It is still showing the USB port and iTunes logo on the screen. What do I have to do?

I have bought an Ipad 2, but the person who brought it didnt bring the manual books so I am having to rely on the online manual. I am falining to have it work.
When I turn on the Ipad, I get a screen with an image of the USB Port cable and the iTunes. I have downloaded the iTunes on my PC and executed it, but I have falied to know what to do next. Please do help.

You have to connect the iPad to your computer with the supplied cord and be running iTunes on the computer. You need the latest version of iTunes which you seem to have - but read the article.

when i finished downloading a usb cable and itunes logo appered so i plugged it in the itunes and it said i should take it out from recovery by restoring it.it took 3 hours but at last it didnt download what should i do?
Try holding the home and lock buttons until the iPad reboots. If it does not start up normally, then you will have to restore. To avoid any longer downloads, go to here: http://www.ipswdownloader.com/download-ipad-ipsw-files.php
and look for your iPad and download the latest firmware. When done downloading, make sure the file is in a easy place to get to. Then, go on iTunes and connect your iPad. Hold your shift key, and press restore. Locate the .ipsw firmware and restore. Make sure no programs are open during the restore proccess as it may interfere. -

There is no other way than to plug into a computer to restore the phone. You can use another computer to do so, but in case you did not back up to iCloud your data and settings will be gone.

Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore iPad. -
