Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Hello, I have a question on "quest".????? I have someone getting into my computer. I have shut of the quest... and yet yesterday all of my files were stolen. My phone book, someone goes in and changes my phone number, and just changes so many things around. It really has me upset. Please... tell me how I can keep "guest" out for good. I bought this computer for me. Not guest, yet all I see here on the apple ways is how others can hook in, or get in to our computers.
Its upsetting, and to see how you give step by step instruction to help them get into other people's computers is upsetting, yet not much on how to keep them out. Tell me just how to keep them out for good. I have a hacker, in mine. Stealing things. I have cleaned my computer out three times, in the last few weeks. I get all set up, to only three days later, even with a new list of passwords, their back again, stealing. Please Help me MorgiegalData rate DOES make a difference, but I'd say your real problem has more to do with the fact that you're working on a Powerbook. Motion's real time capabilities derive from the capability of the video card. Not the processor. Some cards do better than others, but laptops are not even recommended for running Motion.
To improve your workflow on a laptop will be limited, but there are a few things that you can try.
Make sure that thumbnails and previews are turned off.
Make sure that you are operating in Draft Mode.
Lower the display resolution to half, or quarter.
Don't expect to be getting real time playback. Treat it more like After Effects.
Compressing your clips into smaller Animations does help because it lowers the data rate, but you're still dealing with the animation codec which is a high data rate codec. Unfortunately, it sounds necessary in your case because you're dealing with alpha channels.
The data rate comes into play with your setup trying to play through your USB drive. USB drives are never recommended for editing or Motion work. Their throughput is not consistent enough for video work. a small FW drive would be better, though your real problem as I said is the Powerbook.
If you must work on the powerbook, then don't expect real-time playback. Instead, build your animation, step through it, and do RAM previews to view sections in real time.

I have a question regarding my txt/alert tones. I recently updated my iPhone 5's software without first backing it up on iCloud or my computer (oops). After my phone finished updating, i lost the new ringtones and txt/alert tones i had bought. I connected my iPhone to my computer and sync'd it hoping that it could download my purchases from the itunes store and then put them back on to my phone but no such luck. When i look at my iphone on my computer and look at tones, they do not show up at all. However, if i click on the "On This iPhone" tab and click on "Tones" the deleted ringtones and altert tones show up...they are just grey'd out and have a dotted circle to the left of them. I also tried to go to the iTunes store on my phone and redownload them and it tells me that i have already purchased this ringtone and asks me if i want to buy it again. I press Cancel. I know when i do that with music it would usually let me redownload the song without buying it again but it wont let me with the ringtones...so how do i get them back? any help would be greatly appreicated

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

They will ask you for two pieces of information from the account in order to unlock it. The options are usually the security questions (each question counts as one piece), the credit card linked to the account, and either a device serial number or device verification code that they will send you.
After this verification is complete they can send the reset link for your password to any email you choose. Please be aware that if they verify you with something other than two security questions, there is a 24 hour wait before the email arrives.

Picked up a B/W.. have some questions
Hey guys. I picked up a B/W yesterday for a nice spare computer and i have some questions.
1. The former owner upgraded to 10.3 but the computer is lacking serious speed. I know it's not going to be fast but i have a feeling the Memory and video card is holding it back. It only has 256 megs of ram and i would like to add some more. What the max amount i can add? I heard 1GB but is it possible to do more? THe video card is the original and seriously *****. Whats a great card everyone runs? I was looking at the new HD series on new egg but i think it's designed for a pc. Will it work?
Also.. What's the best place to buy pieces for this mac? Any good online retailers? Thanks again
RonBefore you even think about investing in this computer you might want to check if it is a Rev. 1 or Rev. 2 model. I can't tell you how because I have never laid hands on a BW but apparently the Rev. 1 starts behaving really erratically when you try to upgrade things like the hard drive, and you may quickly tire of a tiny hard drive.
As for parts, there's the old standby www.mac-sales.com but once you start buying new upgrades for that computer you will quickly outstrip just buying a used G4 instead. LowEndMac Google groups is a good place for aged machines, and of course there's e-bay. There's also a variety of used Mac and parts retailers, though I think a BW is even outside their interest range now since nobody wants to pay for parts for a G3 what they have to charge to stay in business. -

I have some question when writing LabVIEW. I have DSP6711 and DSP6416, I use RTDX to send data to LabVIEW.
I write three programes for LabVIEW, one is RTDX for DSP6711, another is RTDX for DSP6416, and the final is RTDX for two DSPs.
The program of LabVIEW is workable when doing DSP6711 or doing DSP6416. But there is some problem when running DSP6711 and DSP6416 on LabVIEW at the same time.
How to tell the LabVIEW's tool of " RTDX read" to get the datas from different DSPWhat you want to do should be fairly straightward and a good way to learn labview.
First off, if you haven't already, I would download the drivers for the Keithley and Agilent instruments. I found the keithley drivers at the link below. You will need to find the labview drivers for the Agilent PS at their website. Drivers are the VI's you will use in your program to control the insturments.

I just buy a Macbook pro as a new MAC user. I conceren about internal battery life much. So I have one question that for battery life concern, it is better to use Macbook without AC poower in? or using AC power is better?

I have three questions about managing my music library, I hope you can help me with them:
1) Is there a limit of how many entries, songs, albums, art work, can iTunes handle? I have a hunch iTunes is like a database program and am curious about its capacity. I have two 2-TB drives and am wondering what is going to happen when I fill these two drives up. Other than disk space, what are iTunes limitations?
2) Talking about these two drives. How can I use both as a source for my iTunes library. Can I have two folders selected as the source of my library? I am not sure if I have enough disk space to hold all my music, but I do also have a 1TB almost empty drive is need be.
3) OK now comes te real question. I am sure that I have duplicates in my library and I sure would love to clean my library up.Possiby if I do get to clean it up, I can save some disk space and that is always a good thing. Any good techniques, software, techniques to follow while ripping music to help keep my library organized. Please be as detailed as you can.

As far as I know you're going to run out of disc space before you hit any limits. Each object in iTunes has a 64-bit key to access it. That said as your library grows it will get less responsive as bigger indexes take exponentially longer to process.

iTunes wants to manage everything inside one big folder. Some idiosyncrasies with the way it manages things if you have to move to a new drive means it is best if you can stick to that plan. If your library grows larger then you'll have to take manual control of where some or all of your content is stored. I use a variation of a script called ConsolidateByMoving which you could adapt for your needs.

So, if i buy Apple Airport Express, can i print message on Apple Mail app and document on Apple Pages app ?
Note: I download FX Print Utilitie from App Store, This app can print only PDF, Webpage, picture. It's can't print message from Apple Mail app (attachment also), can't print document from Apple Pages app.

Pichate83To print directly from an iOS device, the printer must support AirPrint. Just connecting a printer to an AirPort Express base station (either by USB or Ethernet) will not, in itself, make the printer AirPrint ready.
