I have been using Firefox for 2 years. Suddenly my bookmarks have vanished. I need them back.
Firefox's start page has changed. I cannot find all my old bookmarks. The new icon on the "Apps" says Bookmarks, but none of my old bookmarks are there. How do I get them? Why do I need to import them. They are already with Firefox's bookmarks but not any more. I do not have a "File" on the Menu bar to open so can't even import them.

I believe that what I'm asking is simple & clear. Do you or do you not store user data backups on your servers? I've been using Firefox, as the default browser, for over 7 years. Naturally, I had to upgrade my
pc's & operating systems several times through this period. Every time I use a new device & of course a
new OS, I normally lose my old data (History & Bookmarks).
If you keep records or backups of old users' data, there will be no problem & I could restore all my old data
following your instructions. If not, which is probably the case, I'd like to suggest you consider developing or
at least put more stress on running backup before uninstalling & re-installing a new OS for the users to pay more attention to this issue.

Aly Hamedhello aly, mozilla doesn't keep any of your history or bookmarks on its severs without your expressed consent (would be a horrible privacy policy otherwise) - there's the [[Use Sync to share your Firefox bookmarks, passwords and more with Firefox for mobile|firefox sync feature]] which will store parts of your private data encrypted in the cloud, in case you've used that in the past you'd need 3 components to restore this data: your username, password & the recovery key...
otherwise i don't know of any way to get to your old data if you haven't kept any other backup of some sorts - unfortunately most of us are reminded to the importance of backups when it's already too late :-/
in regard to your suggestion: during the firefox uninstall procedure your personal data isn't removed per default, so it would still be there after a reinstall of the application - you'd have to explicitly check the option to clear this kind of data in the uninstaller. some general information on where to look if you want to backup your firefox data in the future is available here: [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]] -
Before this happened, I was having a problem for about a month where Firefox wouldn't close. I'd close the browser window, and later when I tried to reopen it to connect to the Internet, I 'd get a msg saying that Firefox is already running, and I must close the current window before opening a new one. I'd have to restart my computer at this point.
I don't know if this is related to why I can no longer use Firefox at all.The "Platform version incompatible" error message can be caused by a problem with the installation of Firefox. Remove your current installation of Firefox and re-install.
# Delete all the files and folders inside the Firefox installation directory - C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
# Download the latest installer from [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ Mozilla] and install it.
Doing the above will not remove your bookmarks, passwords etc, since they are stored in a separate folder.
If after re-installing you get the "already running" error, see [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]]. -
I upgraded to version 4 last week and find it extremely slow compared to the previous version - like so slow that some pages do not even load. I have downloaded and gone back to version 3.6.17 and everything is back to the normal I have known for years with Firefox and it is really fast again...so now I know that there is nothing wrong with my computer and that the supposedly very very fast version 4 is much much slower than the previous version 3.6...so what gives? I'm not keen on going back to the new improved version 4, though I know it will not be supported soon...anyone else having the same issue?

I tried user: support but clicking didn't start anything. Firefox is there as is my list of bookmarks, but it is dead. Safari and even Netscape are fine. Would resetting work? I ask this because no clicking anywhere does anything at all.

I have been using Firefox for many years now and have been going to several sites on Firefox. Now, after an update around two days ago, I can't do anything with the sites. The cursor stays an arrow, and doesn't click anything. It's like a blank page with print on it.
I've tried almost everything, but to no avail. It's too much to copy and paste below.
Any ideas or help would be very much appreciated.

I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.
Check out why the site is untrusted and click "Technical Details" to expand this section.
If the certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided (sec_error_unknown_issuer) then see if you can install this intermediate certificate from another source.
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the <b>issuer of the certificate</b>.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
If <b>"I Understand the Risks"</b> is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
*Note that some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and that programs like Sendori or FiddlerRoot can intercept connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.
*Note that it is not recommended to add a permanent exception in cases like this, so only use it to inspect the certificate. -
I've been using Firefox for years. Now your load screen appears everytime I open. It's a hassle!
Every time I open Firefox to go to the internet I get a page that says thanks for becoming a tester, etc. Then you want me to download Firefox, which I've done 6 times now! Then you make Firefox Search my homepage. Then I change the homepage. Then a screen comes up saying AVG has been successfully installed. Then I use the internet and the next time I re-open Firefox I get the same bull##%% routine!

Thanks for your inputOne step listed in the link to "helpful" info, was (when Iooked 30 seconds ago), to search for and download the newest version of iTunes. I'm running iTunes on Win 7 machine and was prompted to update today, 10.22.2014, and did so without a problem. Having said that, however, it looks as though the latest iTunes (12.0.1.26) is finally doing what the last version refused to do, which is to actually fully populate all my playlists on my 6, but there is a hitch: 12.0.1.26 will NOT allow you to show the sidebar unless you click on "playlists," that is, you cannot keep it open all the time.
And, when plugging the 6 into the computer, the phone icon shows up but clicking on it does nada. What does work, for some strange reason, is clicking on the tiny icon (just under the "Store" menu link at top screen) which looks much like a tiny barrel, someone's idea of external drives, I suppose. The phone then comes up, with the list of stuff on the phone just under it where the sidebar used to be. Sync is now restricted to the lower right of the screen.
Apparently, you will also need to update your iPhone's software as well; some friends with the 4 and 4s, however, had troubles with them after upgrading. The message from Silicon Valley (I can see Apple from my backyard, ha ha) is apparently, "keep upgrading," folks, get rid of those old phones. -

How manhy libraries does the "pop up" show? What ahppens when you select the?
Look in your pictures folder (default location) - is there an iPhoto library there?
