I just received an email from iCloud security Center about irregular activity on my account and needing me to verify my account with information like my SS#.  Is this legit?

I just received an email from icloud stating that my free upgrade was going to expire and it would decrease to 5 (when I have been using 10+). What is this??

The actual amount of extra free storage varies depending on how much storage previous subscribers had.
If you do nothing your storage will dowgrade to 5GB so you should make sure you don't have more content than this.
If you want to continue with the increased storage by paying for it, please see

  • Anyone received fraudulant email from iCloud Security Team?

I got this really basic email from the "iCloud Security Team" asking me to update my account to protect against third-party access.  The link (when I mouseover it) shows no Apple in it.  I can't find a way to forward this to Apple so they can investigate who is trying to use them for information extraction.

See "What to do with suspicious emails" here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4933.

  • I've just received an email from 'Apple' saying that my apple id was used      to sign into iCloud on an iphone 5s.  I have an iphone 4.  It's asking me to sign in to confirm my details and change my password.  How do I know if this email is genuine?

I've just received an email from 'Apple' saying that my apple id was used to sign into iCloud on an iphone 5S.  I have an iphone 4.  It then asks that I 'click here' to confirm my details and change my password.  How do I tell if the email is genuine?

Apple will not ask you to click a link in an email. They may tell you to log in to your account to reset your password. Go to https://appleid.apple.com and log in if you ever want to change any information in your profile (or your password). And do not click the link I just posted; instead enter it into a browser.
You can verify the devices assigned to your account by going to https://icloud.com/find (again, don't click it), where you can see a list of devices registered to your Apple ID.
As a general rule, you should never click a link in an email or forum post without verifying it first. You can see where it goes without clicking it in most email programs and browsers by hovering your mouse pointer over it. On an iPhone you can check where it goes by holding your finger on the link (rather than just tapping it).

  • Received an email from iCloud telling me my storage is full ,when i go to storage

Received an email from icloud telling me that my storage is full, when i go to storage on my iphone it tells me i have 4.4 GB available, what next???

Does it say disabled for security reasons or just disabled? If it just says disabled, go to the iTunes billing team's support site and email off the error, include your billing address for the account and the last 4 digits of your credit card and they will fix it up within 24-48 hours.

It's a scam (phishing) to try to get you to disclose your iCloud credentials.  Apple requests that you forward these to [email protected]

The message probably was sent by mistake. Ignore it, unless you have problems with the iCloud email address

  • I received an email from iCloud asking me to update my details is this authentic?

I heard that Apple had some virus issues recently. I have updated my software but am a little suspicious about an email I have just received from "icloud" aksing me if I have recently changed my details and I need to re submit them. I have not changed anything by the way. So want to be sure this is an authentic email from Apple.

I would actually get in contact with iCloud support itself. You can do this by going through the express lane, which is available at http://expresslane.apple.com . They may as for you to get them the meta tags or something, so they can determine if it is real.

  • Just received an email from Apple? saying that they needed some personal information is this a scam?

I just received an e-mail from "Apple?" saying that they charged $599.00 to my account and if it wasn't me than give them all sorts of personal information and they will look at it I did NOT spend any money at Apple! is this a SCAM?

It is a phishing attempt. Do not respond. Do not divulge any personal or financial information. You can use the address below to forward the suspect email message to Apple.
    [email protected]

  • I just received an email from Apple that I was choose to complete a Apple survey to receive a Mac . Is this for real or a scam?

I just got an email that I was selected as a winner for a apple survey. Then I would receive a iMac . Is this for real?

It is a scam. Forward a copy of the email to both your internet service provider and your email service provider and explain that it is likely a phishing scam. DO not visit the site of the survey or any other link in the email. Delete the email.

  • My MacBook was stolen in June. Just received an email from Find My iPhone that it's been found. What next?

My MacBook was stolen from my car in Hartford ct in June 2013. I filed a police report with the serial number. I monitored find my iPhone for several weeks with no luck. I set find my iPhone to erase my mac.
Yesterday, I received and email saying my mac was being erased. Several hours later I received an email saying my MacBook has been found along with an approximate address.
What can I do next?  Can I access the camera? Can I make a message appear on the screen?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated,
    John.

relay the message to the police and have them get it.

  • How does one erase their email from firefox sync or get a regenerated recovery key if they deleted their account info?

I set up a sync account long time ago and lost my recovery key. I read that if you delete your sync account, it would remove all data. I tried to create a new account but I keep getting the error that my email is already being used. Then I read how to regenerate a new recovery key, but I can't complete the task because my account info has been deleted. How is my account deleted and my email is still showing as an active sync account? Is there a way to recover my email with out having to recreate a new sync with a new email address?

Okay, I am thouroughly annoyed right now because, as I mentioned earlier, I had deleted my account and it still wanted to say that my email was active. Going against all means of logic, I used my email to reset my password (which recreated my ability to login), logged in, and deleted my account (again) and that seemed to do the trick. Why didn't it just do that in the first place?
Oh well, at least it is working now.

    Why?

  • Number emails from iCloud...per day. I need a work around the restriction

I use a MacBook Pro, lots of memory, drive space etc. That is not the problem. I am the President of a Mac club, 749 members and membership person of our fishing club, 78 members. I send out many emails each day. iCloud prevents me from sending due to the restriction they place on iCloud. Anyone have a work around?

The backup is encoded as a SQLite database.  It can't be read without special software.  All the "files" you see inside the backup file are different components of the backup, not different backup files.  I believe the reason that not all the dates match the date of the backup is because the backup file components are only updated when you sync rather than recreated from scratch, so not all the components are new.
To read and extract data from the backup you have to use 3rd party software such as iPhone Backup Extractor.
