I'm getting a segmentation fault on the laptop

I'm getting a segmentation fault when trying to upgrade system (pacman -Syu).
This happened after my battery went empy (this is a laptop).
Here goes the output of `pacman -Syu --debug':

  • [Solved] Get a segmentation fault message when try to run a Fullrecall

    I'm running on Arch x86_64.
Then install this package with the packer.
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/fullrecall/
run it with the terminal and get a segmentation fault message.
I have tried to install some lib32-* but still no luck.
    http://sophie.zarb.org/distrib/Mageia/2 … 2f35d/deps
    Any ideas ?
Otherwise, I will run it on Wine instead.

The fullrecall package is unmaintained, poorly written, and out of date (the latest version on the fullrecall website is 1.5.2).  It's really hard to say why it is segfaulting but I would bet that it is because fullrecall is distributed as a binary rather than as source files.  This means that it links against very specific versions of its dependencies, none of which are listed in the PKGBUILD.  It's very possible that the versions in the arch repos of the various lib32-* dependencies that you installed are newer versions than the binary program requires.
You could try running namcap[1] on the built package and look for the specific version of the dependency you need in the Arch Rollback Machine[2], but I'm not sure how much that will help you.  If you do manage to get it working, please adopt and update the package in the AUR.

  • Segmentation Fault at the very end of InDesign Execution

    Hi Plugin-Developers,
I am currently working on a InDesign Plugin (CS6, CC and CC 2014) which works quite nicely and also stable. But whenever I close InDesign everything is saved to the document and at the very very end I get a Segmentation Fault. This is not nice to see- luckily no data is lost. I have no possible way to find out what is causing the crash.
Could anyone guide me what could cause such crashes and how to find out the reason for this?
    Thank you very much.

You can get that at www.partners.adobe.com. But I'm quite sure you must be registered at Adobe's partnership program to be able to log at this site.

ipad not getting charged while connected to the laptop.

It's no different from the iPad 1 in  that regard.  When connected to a computer via USB it should charge when sleeping only.   Hit the sleep button and leave it for a while to see if that works.   It's much slower charging that way than using the actual charger.
Not all USB's are powered, or powered enough, so what the previous poster said could also be the case.

  • I bought my friend's used laptop. She doesn't know how to get her itunes account off the laptop, so I'm not able to do anything. How do I remove her account from the laptop?

I bought my friends Toshiba laptop. Her itunes account is on there, hooked up to a credit card. She doesn't remember her ID. I think I had it emailed to her by typing in her email address and first and last name. Now that she probably HAS her Apple ID and Password, how do we remove her account from the laptop so I can use MY itunes?

Delete the ENTIRE iTunes folder from her user directory.
Frankly, you should be restoring the laptop as new, either using the restore CD provided by Toshiba or by reinstalling Windows with a Windows CD to remove ALL of her personal information.

I have been able to vonvert the pages file to epub prior to embedding the movies. They are all text bound and in .mov format.

So you have tried removing/trashing your iPod's photo cache? See here for more information on where to find this file.

Plug the computer into an electrical outlet that is properly grounded.

Note: iCloud Backup does not back up music, movies, and TV shows that you did not purchase from the iTunes Store, or any podcasts, audio books, or photos that you originally synced from your computer. iCloud Backup will restore your purchased music, movie, and app content from the iTunes and App Stores during the background restore process. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
The above comes from this article:
Choosing an iOS backup method (Should I use iTunes or iCloud to back up my iOS device?)
    Best of luck with this.

  • How to get segmentation fault to produce a core file

    Hi,
I'm trying to get a program to run on SunOS 5.10, but there's a memory error - Segmentation fault is what the error message says.
By looking around I've found libumem (umem_debug) and I am hoping to use it. Problem is that it wants a core file and the segmentation fault isn't giving me one. I know there's gcore to produce a core dump from a running program, but that's not realisitic here.
1 - the program crashes immediately
2 - i don't know where the error is, so i wouldn't want to force a core dump before the memory has been corrupted.
Anyway, is there some way to explicitly get a segmentation fault to produce a core dump?
    Thanks

You may have resource limit disabling generation of core file
    Run
#ulimit -c to see your current limit (max. core file size in 512-byte blocks)
Run this command to enable core file generation:
#ulimit -c unlimitedand then try starting your program again - you should get your core.

  • Segmentation fault during index

Can anyone tell me where to start looking to find out why I'm getting a "Segmentation fault" error while trying to "addIndex" to a container via the dbxml command line? I'm getting this in my messages logs:
    dbxml[8825]: segfault at ecd3000 ip 00957faa sp bfc65060 error 4 in libdbxml-2.4.so[80f000+278000]
    OR
    dbxml[8937]: segfault at 0 ip 00493fea sp bfd7e07c error 4 in libc-2.8.so[41d000+163000]
    That's about all I know...
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Kevin,
You'll have to debug this. If you have a debug build you can run the dbxml shell under gdb.

  • Segmentation Fault when connecting to SQL*Plus from Applications tier

    Hi Everyone -
I am currently in the process of upgrading a client from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1 (eventually 12.1.3) on a OEL x86-64 server. I have laid down the software stack and followed all of the requirements as per the Installation manuals and 761566.1. I also have an open SR right now on this issue - but I wanted to see if any of you have ever run into the issue that I am encountering.
When I try to run adadmin/adpatch - I get to the prompt of providing the system user password and the utility simply exits. No errors in adpatch.log or adadmin.log (both are 0 bytes in size).
When I try to connect using SQL*Plus from the applications tier using either:
    sqlplus apps/****@SID
    sqlplus system/****@SID
I get a Segmentation Fault error. There are also no errors in my alert log file on the database tier. I found this error while attempting to apply the upgrade merge patch.
Has anyone ever seen s Segmentation Fault error? I have search MOS, found a couple of potential solutions - but nothing has solved the issue so far.
    Thanks in advance...
    Brenna

No, my database tier is 11.2.0.3 (the database version displayed above was the client version running on the Application Tier.

  • Svrmgrl gives segmentation fault

I recently upgraded from redhat 5.2 to redhat 6.0. A default
intall of oracle errored out when it started creating the
database objects. I did I a reinstall with out creating db
objects and now when ever I try sqlplus or server manager I get
a "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" error. I had oracle
running on my old box. Does this have to do with the 2.2.5

Not with kernel but with glibc 2.1 - see thread "Oracle8 and

  • Cfencode.linux segmentation fault

Does anybody have cfencode.linux working? I keep getting a
segmentation fault with I actually try to cfencode a file (cfencode
somefile.cfm). If I just do a cfencode, this seems to work in that
it prints out the usage message.
    Mike

I am receiving this error too. I was originally unable to run
the program at all because it was unable to find libporting.so, but
I added the path to this file to my LD_LIBRARY_PATH global
variable. After that I was able to run the raw program to generate
a list of expected parameters, but once I try to feed a template to
it I got the segmentation fault error.
Did you ever find a solution?

I've just installed the latest security update and now I get a Segmentation fault when I run ssh from the command line. Its seems I'm not the only one with this problem - try googling ssh segmentation fault macosx.
Do Apple people read these posts? If not how do I inform Apple of this bug?

Apple people don't, generally, read this posts but go to http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/ to let them know.

    Hey man,
Sorry to be a pain but how did you figure out that it was 'python2-pillow' that needed reinstalling?
I cant see anywhere in the log that explicitly  states a problem with python2-pillow?
