I ordered a movie (The Help) on my iPad 2 and it showed it was downloaded.  When I went to watch it, I got the message that it would not load.  Can I watch on my Mac computer?  I can't find it in iTunes.

    Hi adtsalmon,
You can only watch the movie on the device you rented it on. Here's a snippet from the Apple Support site (italics mine):
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
Here's the link to the Movie Rentals FAQs site FYI:

    Hope this helps!

  • HT4623 Have a new iphone 5 and trying to transfer info from old iphone. Seems like the new phone is stuck on the choose backup page and I cant seem to get it to move. Help!?

Have a new Iphone and trying to set up. Got to the page choose back up and both old phone and ipad are showing but cant select either and its just sitting there. what should i be doing?

You can transfer the purchases you made on your old iPhone 3 by plugging it in to iTunes and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases from your IPhone to the iTunes on your computer.  This will get music you purchased in iTunes, apps, etc.  (e.g., movies).
But for the rest you would need to restore a backup of your newly deceased computer.

  • Nokia n95 movie transfer???

Hi! I'd be very happy if someone tell me how can i put som movies in my n95? Seems that it's not avaible so easy. If it try to transfer files from my computer to n95...Phone cant't read that kind of files? What should i do? SORRY my bad English, Finnish yuo know! Anyway thanks, if some1 answer to me.

As chillout_ice says, you can convert the file to a format which will be recognised by your phone. You can use the Nokia Multimedia Player (comes with PC Suite) to do this. Open the file within NMP and then click on the "Convert & Save" button.
Now you just need to transfer the saved file onto your memory card!
If I have helped you, please hit the star at the bottom of my posts - it's appreciated!

  • Movie transfer to ipod

We purchased a movie in itunes last night. The movie plays fine in itunes will not allow us to transfer to a 4th generation nano. No error message just an x when selected for transfer.

    Hey there,
Even though you purchased the movie from the iTunes store, it may not be an iPod compatible format. To change this, locate the video in your iTunes library, and right->click on it and choose "Create iPod or iPhone version."
When it has finished converting, try resyncing the newly converted video to your iPod and see if that helps.
It may also be a good idea to make sure you have your iPod set to sync videos as well. Instructions on how to do this can be found [HERE|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1333].

  • Trouble opening files on DVD of Old Movies. Help!

Had a Service transfer many reels of old family movies (in no particular order) onto DVD discs. Goal is to edit out clips I don't want, move clips around, add music, etc. to create a family story.
I transferred files from both DVD's into Movies folder. Was able to get Disc A files to show up in lower window of iMovie but wouldn't drag into top "palette" of windows. Doubled clicked on file but got "video not found" message. Files wouldn't play in any other app. either. Eventually was able to open DVD Player and play Disc A.
Disc B wouldn't import into iMovie and didn't play first few tries in DVD Player (software wasn't highlighted). I'm not sure how I finally got it to play in DVD player because I was trying so many different things.
    Questions:
How do I get both disc files into iMovie and able to be manipulated?
Should I use iMovie or iDVD? What's the difference between them?
Did transfer service create files that aren't usable in iMovie/iDVD?
Files on DVD are shown as both Adobe and Unix files. There are 5 or 6 files listed on each DVD. Do these file comprise a "total" one DVD movie? Or are there several movies on each disc but I can only play one?
Help! This is to be a Christmas present. Need to hurry.
    Thanks!

You need to convert the VOB files on the DVDs back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

  • Movie transfer without sound

I have tried to transfer Movies from my computer to the IPOD. The movies are in the Mpeg format and were first converted in IPOD readable format using "convert selection to IPOD' in ITunes. After transferring the movies, we do not hear the sound in the IPOD. When we play the same movie in ITune, it plays with the sound. Pls. advise what might be going wrong in this case.
IPOD 80 GB   Windows XP Pro

Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (which iTunes uses) don't convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).
Please watch for spammers trying to sell you a converter. Don't fall for it.

  • Movie transfer..

    hello..
i have movie in my macbook i need to transfer that movie to DV cassette, how do i do that,( not to DVD )
    computer to DV cassette
    thank you for your help
    Rod

Assuming the movie you have in FCE is DV and you have a DV camcorder or VTR, connect the DV recording device to your Mac via Firewire. Set it to Record mode and if it's a camcorder, set it to Firewire input (aka iLink, DV, IEEE1394).
Next, launch FCE and open your project. Make sure the Timeline is fully rendered and set the playhead at the beginning. Load a DV tape in the recording device, then hit record then hit play in FCE,

  • Transfer help

First, I have no idea what generation shuffle I own. I'm going through the process of asking my iPod shuffle to transfer purchases to my laptop. I got the items off of my desktop, through the same iTunes account (I have it on both my laptop and desktop, but the libraries aren't communicating with one another because the two computers aren't connected, so I'm trying to move my songs via my iPod). I have authorized the computer. When I click Transfer, it tells me it's synching for about five seconds and the downloading icon appears next to the iPod name, then nothing happens. No songs appear. What am I doing wrong?

    Hello aliceone,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
This article should help you determine exactly which model of iPod shuffle you own.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1353
As to the *File->Transfer Purchases* option, I'm not exactly sure as to what is happening. Are you positive you authorized the computer with the same account you purchased these tracks with?

  • Blackberry app world movie transfer?

Hi there, I buy the movie '' the hobbit '' but I will like to transfer it to my macbook air. It that possible?

    Hello neemliu,
Sorry to hear you're having difficulty with BlacKBerry World.
What is your BlackBerry World version?
Can you provide the criteria for your search - are you typing in a specific app name? Or a genre for a game? Or are you searching for themes?
As for searching in other languages, what language are you trying to search in? Is your BlackBerry World installed in English or another language?
    Thanks!

  • Can't Play HDV 1080p24 Quicktime Movie - PLEASE HELP!

I have a self-contained Quicktime file that plays fine using the Quicktime application on my computer that has Final Cut Pro installed on it. However, when I move that Quicktime to my computer that does not have Final Cut Pro, it says I don't have the proper codec. (It plays the audio fine, but the video is just a black screen.)
Can I download this specific codec on my non-FCP computer so that I can play this file?
Here are the specifics on the Quicktime in question:
    Format:
    HDV 1080p24, 1440 x 1080 (1888 x 1062), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz
And, if it helps at all, we footage was created with a Canon XL-H1 camera, imported into FCP, edited, and exported as a Quicktime file using current settings. And, the non-FCP computer does have Quicktime Pro installed.
    Thanks!

Gonna have to look at a third party solution...
#51 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD or HDV or ProRes on my computer.
Shane's Stock Answer #51 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD, HDV or ProRes QT files on your computer.
The DVCPRO HD, HDV and ProRes codecs only comes with FCP. If your computer does not have FCP installed, it cannot view these quicktime files. It doesn't matter if it is a Mac or PC, without FCP installed, you cannot view these files.
If you need to view ProRes material, you can download the ProRes decoder (mac and windows compatible) for ProRes
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forWindows.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forMac
If your footage was captured as DVCRO HD you can buy the Calibrated DVCPRO HD decoder:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QDVCProHD.asp
HDV, XDCAM? Calibrated has you covered too:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp
If you have MXF files from a P2 camera and you need to view the footage on a computer without FCP, you can download P2CMS from Panasonic:
    http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/p2-hd/downloads-and-updates.asp
Or you need the other party to compress the footage into a format your computer can play, like H.264.

  • Old Home Movies conversion help needed! Please!

I have about 18 hours of various movies that had been built in Pinnacle Studio (transitions etc.) on a PC Computer. There is no disc chaptering and this is a PC only program. I want to bring them over to iMovie or another program on my new iMac and have the end result to put them on USB. Pinnacle said that burning to DVD would be the only way to incorporate menus and chapters etc. Is there any way for iMovie to do this? or another program? We just want to be able to have them on USB to distribute to the family and have them put in their computer and be able to play back the various movies and have the option to fast forward or skip to a certain part in the movie with scene selection etc. I have several options to export the Pinnacle movies. Mpeg1, mpeg2 and a few others.
Any help or direction would be appreciated. We don't want to have to chop our videos to burn to a bunch of DVDS if possible.....

I can't answer your question completely but I will try and fill in a few blanks. Perhaps others will add more later.
I would try to make your final result a DVD. When you put video on a USB stick you have simply created another file that may, or may not work, in the future. You can certainly do that if you wish, but I would also make a DVD. The advantage of DVDs is that they are foolproof and universal, and most likely to be viewable for the next 30 years.
I had good success with iMovie HD 06. Readily available on Amazon as part of iLife 06. Most files can simply be dragged into iMovie HD 06 and it will automatically convert them. It may be possible to do this with newer versions of iMovie but I rarely use those. I prefer the higher quality of iMovie HD 06.
For DVD making use iDVD 09. I recommend the 09 version because it is the only version that includes all of the themes. Newer versions have had themes removed.

  • INSANELY SUPER SLOW conversion times for MP4 to Quicktime Movie..HELP!!!!!!

    Hi folks...
    I am frustrated.
I am a student in a Film Editing class.
I have an assignment where I have to take a classic film and create a movie trailer for it using the original film and editing in FinalCut Pro.
I started off by using Handbrake to change the original DVD of the film into an MPEG-4. This took about 3 hours, which was long....but Handbrake did a very good job and the conversion was completed.
So, I have a high quality MPEG-4 of the movie.
However, as many people know, you cannot import an MPEG-4 file into FinalCut.
You have to first convert the MPEG-4 to a Quicktime Movie (a.k.a. "mov file")
HERE IS WHERE THE PROBLEM HAS STARTED
I have been trying for almost two weeks to convert one movie- the 1979 movie "Alien"- over from MPEG-4 to Quicktime.mov, as I keep running into problems.
Right now, at home, my computer (a PowerMac G4) is converting the file using MPEG Streamclips...
At the current rate it is going (I timed it and used a calculator)...it will take approximately 80 HOURS (!!!!) for MPEG Streamclips to convert this film from MPEG-4 to Quicktime MOV.
I literally started the conversion at 8 o clock last night. I went to sleep. This morning I was getting ready to go to my job. The file was still only 10% COMPLETE...(THIS IS INSANE)...
I got upset with this, as my professor in the editing class says he may dock me points for a late assignment.
So, I PURCHASED Quicktime Pro for Windows.
I have downloaded it onto this PC I am using.
In almost 2 hours, it has only gone from "8% completed" to "9% completed"... there is no way this will be done in any less than 48 hours. NOTE- I am not using a 3rd party, free, unpredictable sortware...I am using the official Quicktime 7 PRO that I bought straight from APPLE....and it is THIS SLOW.
This is absolutely crazy. IS THIS NORMAL? People running their computers 24 hours a day for 3 to 4 DAYS to convert a film from MPEG-4 to Quicktime Movie?
What can I possibly do to make this go faster? I was afraid I was going to crash this PC (the fan has been running loudly on high non-stop since I started this...I know this will take more than 8 hours at this rate, so I shut it off)
What are tips/shortcuts that anyone can give to help with this.
I dont think I should have to go to the United States Government to the Pentagon (or to Steve Jobs's house!) to get a computer with enough RAM and computing power to change an MP4 to a Quicktime movie.
I have even used the newest and most powerful G5 computers here at the university, running OS 10.5 with Quicktime Pro as the converter....and still seen extremely slow conversions (as in, it will take 48 hours of continuous computing to complete this)
Is this normal? Does everyone actually do this when they need to convert a film?
Or, are there shortcuts, slight drops in quality, or special shortcuts I can take?? What do KNOWEDGEABLE people do to convert an MPEG-4 file to a Quicktime Movie?
3-4 hours is long, but reasonable.... 80 HOURS IS INSANE......
.....Please HELP out a struggling film student!!! Thanks and God Bless

I restarted the conversion, only this time I am seeking to convert the MEPG-4 over to "Apple DV/DVC PRO- NTSC format"
An instructor here at the school gave that as a suggestion...
Now, at the current rate of THIS conversion, it will STILL TAKE about 40 hours of continuous processing to convert this film. THe computer will need to run 24 hours a day for almost 2 days to convert this.
The instructor told me he thinks the ludicrous time frames needed have something to do with the fact that I am converting this film from MPEG-4. He thinks that this could be what is causing it to be this slow.
I am just not used to this type of thing....I have never used a computer to do ANYTHING that takes 40 to 80 hours to complete.
I think that director Ridley Scott likely filmed the actual movie itself much faster than this conversion is taking (!!!)
