I need to install a program that requests "pyversions"

Hi,
First of all, I posted in newbie corner because I can't fiure where else I could post, and besides, I'm a newbie.
I'm trying to install "compucell3d", a software for simulation of cells, basically.
Since they just offer binaries for ubuntu and fedora, I've tried to install from source, following the instructions found here:
http://compucell3d.org/SrcBin/LinuxCompile
These instructions are aimed for debian, but I've tried to follow'em at least closely.
There was one single step in the install I could not follow. The guide asks if cmake has located PYVERSIONS_EXE, expected to be, at least for debian, in /usr/bin/pyversions.
I've tried to install it anyway, and I keep getting this error:
"CompuCell3D - version 3.6.0
  File "/usr/local/cc3d-3.6.0/player/compucell3d.pyw", line 65
    except ImportError,e:
                                 ^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax"
I've trying to discover what I could use in place of pyversions, but could'nt find anything.
I'm sorry if I asked a useless question or if I didn't post some relevant information, but I installed form source just few times.
I appreciate any kind of help, I'm loving to use arch, but this software is crucial to my work.
Thank you all

The README-Linux.txt file in the CompuCell3D source is probably relevant:
Mixing Python versions:
Sometimes when there are more than 1 Python version installed on your OS CMake may mix headers
and libraries from different versions of Python. In this case on cmake-gui check advanced check-box and
type Python in the search line. Make sure that headers, executable and libraries of Python come from the
same version. If they do not, change paths accordingly.

    Hello
I just started using Time Machime and I was a little worried about it trashing some of the older files when it needs space.
It deletes oder files when the drive is full.
However, it does not simply delete the oldest files.
It deletes the oldest files that you have already updated.
For example, if you create a document/file, then update that same document a week later, they will both be in TM.
When the drive gets full, only the 1st copy will be deleted since it is no longer on your HD.
If the file is still on your HD, it will remain in TM.
I have a 2TB drive for TM and the earliest backup is from March of last year so very doubtful you will have sometthing deleted you don't want to.
However, if it is that important, it should not be deleted from your HD (which will keep it from getting deleted from TM)  or you should make a copy of it elsewhere.
I use SuperDuper! for additional, bootable backups and I recommend you spend the $$ for something you find useful.

Another option if you have access to a second Mac with a drive is to connect the two together with the iMac in Target Disk Mode,  Transferring files between two computers using FireWire, and installing from the Mac with the optical drive.

  • Need to run a program that requires windows... do not want to buy windows!

We have been very happy Mac users for years now- recently I purchased some school software for my son (Switched on Schoolhouse) and it only runs in a Windows environment! I am so disappointed with this, but on further investigation saw that I could run windows ( I do NOT want to resort to this) just to run this ONE program!
I saw somewhere that there are emulators out there that allow you to run this software on a mac without needing to install windows at all- they failed to mention which one they were using and I am very inexperienced about this and would love if somebody could point me in the right direction!

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
I concur with the recommendation of Crossover.
A fairly new addition is Macindows http://www.pioneeringsoftware.co.uk/pages/products
Since both offer time-limited trial versions, maybe try them for yourself to see which one better fits your needs.

  • HT2305 I have a new computer with Windows 8 OS.  Do I need to install drivers so that my Ipod Nano will sync with this new computer:

My daughter gave me a new Ipod (Nano) for Christmas.  I had no problem download my songs from my old Ipod (Shuffle) to the new one.  However - since I do not buy songs on a regular basis, I did not buy a new song until 4/29/13.  Now for information...sometime in March my old laptop died, completely.  I had to go buy a new one - which I did and this new one has Windows 8 Operating System on it (which I hate, btw).
Now, when I bout a song on Tuesday, the song did not go to my new Ipod.   I tried everything and finally had to talk to a tech - who was very kind in helping me and we did get all my songs from Itunes to this new computer.  I thought the song I bought would then go on the Ipod - but it did not.  I had already hung up from the tech - since we had been talking on the phone for about an hour.  He informed me that he was giving me a "courtesy break" because it has been over 90 days since my new Ipod was purchased ---- just my darn luck!
Anyway, I have figured out on my own that the new Ipod Nano is not synced with the new laptop with Windows 8.  I have been trying for the last 2 hours to get it to do so and in doing so, found out that Windows 8 is not mentioned in any of the help forums.  So...my question is:  Do I need to install drivers on the computer or what?  I will not be purchasing anymore music from Itunes until I get this matter resolved.  Any help will be apreciated. Thank you.

  • How to install a program that shows as up-to-date?

I originally installed the creative cloud, and 3 programs to try them out.  I let the trial expire so I uninstalled ALL the programs.  Now, months later, I have purchased the creative cloud, but I don't have the option to install the programs which I had on the trial.  They show as "up to date" but are in fact not installed on my computer.  When I try to download directly from the site, it goes right back to the cloud manager, which simply shows the programs as up-to-date.  Not sure how to get around this.  Any suggestions?

    Hi cmf62,
If you have Mac then please go to
    Finder -->applications --->utilities
if you find the uninstallers for those softwares then simply run the uninstaller and completely uninstall the program. Sign out of and sign back into the 'Adobe creative cloud tool'.
    Similarly for Windows
Go to Control panel --->Programs and feature (add or remove program) --->check if you have any Adobe software installed simply uninstall it.
    Thanks

  • When I try to install the program, it requests that I close firefox to continue. When I close the program from the internet, it still states that the program needs to be closed.

It repreats itself from the beginning stating that firefox needs to be closed in order to continue.

That would be my first guess.  You might be trying to install the 32 bit version of the program.
Update the thread with more info on your apple software etc if its a 64 bit install you're trying to perform.

  • I need to install a program and a message that says "image not recognized" appears

I am working in the asctimetables software and I need the new version but when installing it a message that says "image not recognized" appears. What can I do?

I found this on the asctimetables download page:
The problem is that although the Apple icon is shown (red oval in lower right), the system requirements shown (red rectangle in lower left) show Windows machines only.  Further, the download is a .exe file that only runs on Windows.  So I suggest you contact asctables' help folks to see whether they really do have an OS X version available.

  • I need to install an App that will work with my iOS. How do I get an earlier App that is not now in the App Store?

I have an iPod Touch that can only run iOS 3.1.3. I have had Zinio & PressReader (both free Apps) installed on it for many years, and subscribe to a number of Magazines and Newspapers. I had backed up the iPod in September 2012. Today, I had to restore the iOS from the backup, but saw that Zinio and PressReader had not been installed. I am aware that the iTunes store explains that the latest versions are for iOS 4.3, but I need the latest version that will work with my iPod on iOS 3.1.3.
Does anyone know how I can get hold of the earlier versions of the "ipa" files, short of asking the publishers themselves?
And, should I expect the Publishers to release the appropriate ipa to me?

You aren't being left in any lurch. Your hardware is obsolete, and the software world has moved on. If you have a qualm about the matter then discuss it with the software's developers. Apple is not responsible for software they do not develop. This is technology, and you will just need to get used to it.

  • Why does Creative Cloud Desktop App invite me to Install a program that I already own?

I am a recent subscriber to the Creative Cloud Photographers Program, which includes three programs: Photoshop, Bridge, and Lightroom.  When I launch the CC Desktop app, the "Installed Apps" section lists three programs:  Photoshop CC, Photoshop CC (2014), and Bridge.  Lightroom appears under "Find New Apps" with a button that says "Install."  But Lightroom is already installed!  Why doesn't the CC desktop app list Lightroom under "Installed Apps" and why doesn't the button say "update?"  I am hesitant to press "Install" unless I am assured that it is safe to do so.
Details: Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium
Creative Cloud Desktop app Version 1.7.1.418
    Lightroom is 5.5

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately the URL you gave is a non-functional web page.  The chat button on Adobe's Contact Customer Care page is also non-functional.  I get the feeling Adobe doesn't want to chat, or maybe they went home for the weekend, so I came to the forum.

  • Need to install an application that is dependent on variable input

    Hi
So I am working on a deployment that installs an application. The environment that this application is installed in varies. So the user must be able to enter variable values in the first splash screen that appears. And the installation should pick up these
variables and use them as parameters for the installation. I handle this as follows:
    1. Prompt the user for the variable value at the beginning of the winPE phase(The screen where you select TS, enter admin password etc)
    2. Create an Run command line step in the TS and run the following command line:
    .\applications\Setup.exe /Variable1=%VariableFromWinPEHere%
Is this possible in MDT? As I am used to work with SCCM.
If this is not the way to approach it, how should i approach it?
Also bonus question: How do I get MDT 2013 to prompt for a variable that is available through the whole OS installation?
    Thanks!

Thank you for you reply :)
As you say "Once you create an MDT variable it will be available throughout the entire MDT build."
How exactly do I create an MDT variable? And how do I get it to prompt for it during the winPE phase?
Can I just put in an empty put in an empty "Set TS variable" step in the TS and MDT will prompt the user for the value?
I am looking for something like collection variables in SCCM 2007. When you left the variable without any value it would prompt you for it before executing the TS. Also I need these prompts to appear based on what TS you choose.

  • I use ALSA but need to use a program that only supports OSS

    Specifically, TeamSpeak2
It is very antiquated and as far as I can tell it will only support OSS with /dev/dsp. I read the OSS wiki and the first steps seem to make it clear that ALSA and OSS won't peacefully co-exist. Is there any simple way to get this working? I only need the sound output, not worried about mic input for now.

Splex wrote:You need to enable dmix to have alsa mix the multiple outputs together.
IIRC, alsa will supposively enable dmix by default for cards that don't support hardware mixing..  if you have a /etc/asound.conf or ~/.asoundrc it may be causing ALSA to stray from the default...
if that isn't the case, you can manually enable dmix by creating/editing the /etc/asound.conf or ~/.asoundrc to something like this:
    http://alsa.opensrc.org/Dmix#6._The_com … ameters.29
I put that in ~/.asoundrc and it didn't seem to work. Additionally, with that in my .asoundrc, alsamixer refuses to start and gives me a bunch of errors about invalid configuration.
