I-PHONE 4 FROZE AFTER AN UPDATE, WILL NOT SHUT DOWN AND SENDS ALL CALLS TO VOICEMAIL, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?

Unplug it and let unit go dead. Then hold your Home button down and plug the USB power cord back in. iTunes should see it and then restore.

  • HT4528 My iPhone 4s will not shut down and wont play sound on you tube

My iPhone 4s is experiencing two issues.
    1.  it will not shut down, restarts on its own after a few seconds,
    2. and it loses sound on videos and apps intermittently - even when sound on apps comes back, there is no sound on any you tube videos
I have tried hard reset, software upgrade, and various setting changes I read about in a thread online for the sounds issue, nothing has worked.

We tried the home sleep button several times with the same, that is, no result.
The thing with the WiFi apparently is not that uncommon a problem as the Apple web site mentionen the method I described to remedy the problem.  Again, it did not fix the issue.
Thanks for the reply but ee still are at sea.

  • 2007 A1226 Macbook Pro: Fans out of control, will not shut down, and temp sensors have gone offline.

So my MBP, just an hour or so ago, failed to shut down.  I click Apple->Shut down, but the computer instead restarts and while loading OS X, gives me an error that says "You restarted your computer because of an error."  The fans are maxed out right now, there is -no- process causing thisl  Also, I use iStatMenus to monitor my temperatures, and all of the CPU sensors have gone offline, iStat is only reporting temps for the hard drive and battery.
iStat also seems to have lost the ability to control my fan speeds.  Uninstalling and reinstalling iStat did nothing.  Resetting PRAM and the SMC have done nothing either.  Any ideas?

  • Macbook will not shut down (bought new in June)

I saw some other threads on this. Mine will not shut down and I have the latest software updates on Leopard, bought my 13 in. Macbook in June. I have run it a lot, so that it gets warm but seemed to work fine until I try to shut down. I'm really worried about this because I hate to have to force it to shut down by turning it off. I do not have that third party program installed that someone said he'd downloaded and had to remove to get it to work. I hope I don't have to uninstall what little I have installed, such as Intego firewall/antvirus/personal backup, Camino, Sunbird, Flip4Mac, Washing Machine, and Io programs by Time Cycles. I don't run any of those other programs much, mostly just Safari and just now an HP printer driver. I wonder if doing a lot of scanning using the HP printer driver is what caused the problem. I just downloaded the HP printer driver right before this happened, I think. But I really need that to work.
My computer starts to hang when I shut it down and says it can't log out until I shut down something else, which is generally a program that is not even running. I wish this would stop; I'm not sure what to do about it or whether turning the computer off will hurt it. I don't know if I'm supposed to "zap PRAM" or something but I already did that for a different reason a few days ago and don't want to do that a lot.

Thanks for your message. I actually just logged in to report that I solved the issue by going to Disk Utility / First Aid / verify permissions/ repair permissions.
The problem was that the HP Officejet 7300 Series printer driver I had recently installed had all sorts of permissions wrong and they are now repaired. And the Macbook has now shut down properly twice in a row. I wonder if I should report that to HP?
** I wonder what damage if any I did by shutting off the computer using the power button two or three times in the past 24 hours when I needed to shut the computer down prior to repairing the permissions problem?*
And I did see the Activity Monitor in the Utilities section on my own just prior to trying Disk Utility / first aid / repair permissions (the disk it self didn't need repair, supposedly). I don't really think activity monitor was going to help in this instance because I did shut down all the programs, but I'll be testing that utility in the future.
I bet now would be a good time to hurry up and get Disk Warrior.

  • ITunes 10.x.x.x Windows XP SP Will not shut down

Every time I run itunes 10, in this case 10.6.1.7 but for all iTunes in the past year or more - it will not shut down and stay shut down.
some suggest turning off "default player for audio" -- nice suggestion, but I do that and iTunes messages that I don't have privileges (I'm the administrator).
I turn off Bonjour -- itunes complains, but shuts down only to startup again.
I am NOT sharing music with other computers.
So the cryptic "don't have privileges" -- anyone know what Apple is looking for in this restriction?
Can't uncheck "default music player" -- anyone have a clue as to why not ?
    Thanks for looking.
    Jeff

The idea of a 3rd party unrelated app didn't seem reasonable, but in Windows, I brought up the the Windows Task Manager (similar to MacBook Activity Monitor) and started "ENDING" the tasks that seemed to be unrelated to the system but used for certain applications.
When I stopped a task related to my Linksys Music Bridge (I was using Airlink-101 music bridge tools to access the bridge) this allowed iTunes to start and stop without automatically restarting.
On XP, the task was "CMFLYWAV" not sure why it's called that, but I now use Bluetooth to send audio to my HiFi using a Logitech Speaker Adapter that works great, and doesn't cause problems for iTunes.
There are probably other unessential tasks running on those machine that still have this "won't shut down" problem.
Thanks for the hint, but I was heading down that road as the next step, assuming something else was forcing iTunes to stay active. But I would not have expected it to be a network speaker driver as it was in my case.

My mail is stuck, and the computer will not shut down and the Mail is not responding. What should i do?

    Hi Clinton,
This happens to all the time and this is what I normally do. (Press and hold the pwer button until the computer shuts down) but, this doesn't seem to answer the real issue. Its just like you cut of the power to shut it down.

  • MBP will not shut down after installing patches

Over the last week I have installed all of the suggested patches, but now I find that my MacBook will not shut down! To shut it down I have to hold the power switch for 10+ seconds to force it.
Is this a known issue? if so, what is the solution?
Sorry if this has already been posted, I am at work on a really slow WinTel box.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Terry,
Your problem might be some internet connection issue. If the pathes were not fully downloaded, the mac will not let you shut down or some error there etc. This will not happened frequently.

  • Mac Will Not Shut Down

I ran Singular past my OS 9.2 drive and it disposed of items that were not duplicates. I rebuilt my system folder from a flash drive. Hard Drive will not shut down. I normally cycle between a drive with OS 10x and my OS 9x in the Startup Disk. Now when I tell it to restart on my OS 10 it will not shut down. I get a Software Update Engine error message with no error code.
I even reinstalled OS 9.2.2 and it still does it. Even after Norton Utilities.
To get past it, I option/command/esc to get it to shut off and restart on the other disk.
Has this happened to any of you?

Thanks for the input. Yes the OS's are on different drives. With all my modeling and animation programs... it would cost me a small fortune to upgrade them, hence OS 9.2.2.
This all started after telling Singular to dispose of certain duplicated file. It apparently dragged some others out with it. I have a flash drive with the good system 9 that I used to go file by file in the extensions and control panels and made the wiped disk look like the flash drive backup. Corrected a lot except for this not shutting down without using escape. Reinstallation did not stop it.
The norton is only for 9xx indeed... I am not having trouble with OSX drive at all. When I want to restart to 9xx it does it's restart and into 9xx land. Norton always finds a wall of screwed up blocks and trees... never seemed to be an issue. It raked up the files and fixed what ever these invisible files do. Still same same. We bought the first mac in Jax fl... we have been around this platform ever since. When macs were a bit simpler.. there were only so many things something like this could be. This is the only time I have seen this behavior in a mac.
I just got in from 500 mile drive.. will go though these responses after a nap.
    Thanks before and after.
