I reset my apple ID password but when I sign in to iMessage or iCloud it tells me incorrect password

My iPhone 5 wants me to sign in to iMessage and iCloud. I successfully reset my password using my pc and then tried signing in on my phone, but I keep getting told the password is incorrect. So I restarted my phone and tried again but got the same thing. Anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

When you go to the My Apple ID website - are you able to sign in with your new password? What about the www.icloud.com website? If the password works in these two places, try deleting the iCloud account and adding it again on your iPhone.

In the "Choose a new password" section, click Change Password.

The next time you use an Apple feature or service that uses Apple ID, you'll be asked to sign in with your new Apple ID password.

i just opened my ipad, started my apple account/I.D. and realized I put the wrong e mail. I was having trouble correcting my I.D on the Ipad so I went to my laptop and make the proper changes/slash e mail address I wanted for my apple ID. If you cannot remember your security questions for your Apple ID, I would recommend these steps outlined in the article named:

Try answering them at least once to see if you can get them right, even if you are not sure you remember the answers to your security questions.
If you are confident you can't remember them, try one of the following:

Exactly! The password I used to log on here and write my post I figured was the same Apple ID password I would use to reset my computer login password. But my computer isn't recognizing it as the correct password so it wont let me update my login password. I have 2 user accounts on my computer.

Assuming this is an iCloud mail account, sign out of iCloud in its preference pane, then sign back in with the new password.

Wait a few hours and check the spam filter. If you still don't get it, ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

This happened to me as well. What caused it : under my Apple ID account, I had the same email address listed under both my primary email as well as additional email so it was duplicated and therefore wouldn't allow Login.
What's solved it. An advisor helped me edit the primary email address... by 1. Logging in under my iCloud account/username.
2. As well we made sure i had signed out of all settings that had my original Apple ID account, iTunes etc., ... also did this on my iPhone.
3. Once I was logged in I edited my primary email address with a brand-new email address. And deleted the additional old email address as well just be on the safe side.
This seem to do the trick.
4. Also updated the new address on my iPhone settings too.

Your password was sent to your emergency email address. Perhaps you have an email you never use? I use the free email from my cable TV account as my emergency email.
Your Apple account and cloud account are separate. You could even have completely different user and password. Most of us use the same user ID and password, but they are not the same thing, don't mix them up.
If you can't retrieve emergency email, you will have to call apple support.
