IE8 prompting to auto download wrong plugin version
Hi All,
I have problem auto-downloading the latest java plugin 1.6 in IE 8.
I have an applet which is configured to use the latest java version installed on the client machine. If java is not found, it is expected to download java plugin 1.6.0.21 [as configured in applet codebase].
When i uninstall java on my local machine and try running html containing applet in IE 8, it is prompting to download java plugin 1.4.2_08 instead of 1.6.0.21.
Please let me know where exactly IE8 is taking the plugin version?
Applet classid and code base are as below.

Thanks for replying.
I have tried changing version number as suggested by you, but problem persist.
Its still pointing to java-plugin 1.4.0.
FYI, I have tried below steps
1. Uninstalled java on my local machine, however while uninstalling java 6 update 21 and 10, its showing
'Fatal error while installation' error message. And i am not able to remove these entries from 'Add or Remove Programs'.
2. Manually removed Java Run time entry from below path.
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files
3. Removed Registry entries under JavaSoft.
Guess i have messed up things pretty well :)

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.I've never had this problem before... today I opened iTunes and it prompted me to download the newest version. I use iTunes all the time and have updated it multiple times with no issues. During the installation process it gave me an error message that said:

I quit the installation, uninstalled iTunes and rebooted my computer. I now receive a similar message with a slight difference:

I did not leave anything out from the error message. It doesn't point to a specific file, it just ends with "(x86)..." Every time I boot up my computer, this error message pops up on my desktop.
How do I repair this issue? I have found multiple suggested solutions but am unsure which one is the best, and I don't want to try a bunch of different things for fear I may make the problem worse. I would like to try and fix this myself if possible but I need to know if that is really possible or if I need to take my computer to someone for repairs. My iPhone prompted me to download the latest version of iOS7. I did, and now my phone won't power on. It just shows an iTunes icon on a black screen. When I connect my phone to iTunes on my laptop, the only option it gives me is to restore my phone's factory settings. But won't this erase all my photos, contacts, etc? Any suggestions?
It's in recovery mode. You don't have a choice. You have to restore the phone. Anything that was on it is already gone.
If you've been backing up/syncing on a regular basis, you won't lose anything except what's changed since the last backup. -
My computer has prompted me to install the newest version of Itunes and now there doesn't appear to be any option to "add folder to library", only "add file to library" so have to do each song individually and very time consuming....help! Anyone know if I can get this feature back? Thanks so much, Charlotte
Use CTRL+B to put the top menu bar back on screen. Add File to Library and Add Folder to Library are both under File.

How to stop auto download of SD versions of TV shows?
I buy lots of TV shows from the iTunes store and everything I watch on my laptop is in HD. However, iTunes INSISTS on downloading both the HD and SD versions of every episode. And even if I pause and delete the SD downloads, as soon as I buy a new program iTunes starts downloading ALL SD versions of every show that exists on my hard drive. So at this point it means I have to go in an pause/delete dozens and dozens of SD downloads of shows that I have already watched!
How can I tell iTunes to ONLY download the HD version? Help!To the best of my knowledge, there is no way to prevent the automatic downloading of the SD version when you buy an HD show.
You can, if you wish, suggest that the ability to prevent the SD version from downloading through the iTunes feedback page. But since the SD version is needed for use on iPods and there at least at present is no mechanism for someone to download the SD version at a later time should they decide they need it, Apple may just continue to force the downloading of both versions. If they get enough feedback on the issue, though, they may figure something out.

I don't know the difference between a plug-in and an add-on or an extension. All I know is that I am happy with the current version of Firefox (I think it is 3.6.6) because it allows me to use the text formatting toolbar. The last time I followed Firefox's advice to upgrade to a new version, I discovered that there was no compatible toolbar, and I spent a long time getting back to 3.6.6.
If the new version does not have a compatible text formatting toolbar, I don't want it, and would like to stop getting these prompts.I'm having difficulty visualizing what is wrong but try some basic steps first:
Launch Safari while holding a Shift key - this will start Safari with just your Home page
If you can see Reset Safari from the Safari menu, try that.
In addition to downloading and installing Safari again, try reapplying just the Snow Leopard Combo Update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399 There is no need to uninstall Safari first.
Lastly try deleting Safari's Preferences file: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist -

Get Serial Page is Prompting me to download trial version Photoshop CS6

Please keep in mind however that the Firefox Java Plugin has blocked JRE versions below 1.6.0_31 or between 1.7.0 and 1.7.0_2. As of April 2012 some Firefox versions automatically block all Java plugins which are Java versions less than 1.6.0_31, therefore every user that has a problem and is running with a Demantra that supports Java higher than 1.6.0_19 can upgrade their Java plugin to 1.6.1_31. Demantra 7.3.0.2 and all versions of 7.3.1 support it.
Anyone who has a problem while running on an older Demantra version that does not support Java versions newer than 1.6.0_19 cannot use Firefox with Demantra. Instead they can either use Windows Internet Explorer (IE) without a Java upgrade or they can upgrade their Demantra.
If they upgrade to the latest Java version then the Demantra plugin will not work - not with Firefox and not with IE.

Yesterday iTunes asked me to download the newest version ( update ) I did,
Yesterday iTunes prompted me to download the latest version of iTunes,
I did so and now I cannot open iTunes, I then uninstalled it and then reinstalled it but to no avail. I then tried both again, again to no avail. I still cannot use iTunes or download it or anything from Apple. In attempting to remedy this problem I have also updated Java, performed a system restore and tried downloading iTunes from 3 different web browswers. The error message I receive when attempting to download iTunes is as follows : There is a problem with the Windows installer, a program for this install to complete could not run, please contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I have done so but to no avail. Can anyone advise, thanks, TimUse Windows 'System Restore' to go back to the good old days, when iTunes worked.

Yesterday my Firefox icon disappeared from my menu bar. I went into my applications and opened it. Every time I use it to reach gmail, I get a message that I'm using an out of date version and to download a new one. I download it. An installation disk appears. A "move to applications" message appears. I move the icon to applications. I can get my e-mail, but all the bookmark icons are blank now. And each time I open gmail I get prompted again to download 8.1. something.
According to your useragent string you are running version 3.0.10. Either you are running a VERY old version or your useragent is wrong.
Let's start by assuming the later. To fix do the following:
* Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
* If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
* Filter = general.useragent.
* Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.
* Then restart Firefox -
Need to Install Safari 6.0.2 on a white Intel core duo iMac. Had to throw out 6.0.3 because of conflict with required software. Downloaded wrong version that was for Mountain lion (I am running 10.7.5). It installs but won't open, says it is for Mountian Lion.
Of course I can't throw it away since I get a message it's part of the sytem. I am getting messages that I can't download and read .pdf files since I have the wrong Adobe reader. I know about their security disasters of course, but I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site and I have other ,pdf file readers as well, and for some reason they won't work either. I have 5 computers running top end processors and RAM. By this I mean I have one, this one which I am using that has an AMD Phenom Black 3.2 Quad-core with 8 GBs of Corsair top DDR2 RAM, my other two AMD have either an Athlon II triple core with 4 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, one with the Phenom X4 965 3.4 GHz Quad-core with 8 GBs of their best DDR2 RAM, and two Intels with the i7 920 Processors using the triple channel 1366 socket processors and one with 8 GBs of low latency DDR3 RAM and the other with 4 GBs of the same RAM. I am getting the message on this one, which has a fresh install of XP Pro X64 operating system, as do the other 4 as well. I have run Avast Business Pro Anti-virus on this one, which I am getting the message on with a single result which I deleted, and also both Spybot Search and Destroy, which came back clean as well as Malwarebytes Antimalware, which got a lot of tracing cookies now removed, and SuperAntiSpware which also found a few cookies also now deleted. Can you tell me what I need to do to get these files to show as .pdf files rather than as a clean blank page. One other issue is that I wish to know how to turn off my downloads so they are saved and Mozilla will give me the option of returning them instead of me losing them all together as it does now. Thanks for your assistance. If there is another Adobe reader I should download and install, could you provide me with the link to it? I appreciate your assistance here

i cant figure out how to download the application any other way. everytime i click on it in the downloads box it says application not found.
Well, after hours of trying to figure it out I gave up and un-installed and re-installed that last verion of Adobe Flash Player and now it seems I can play games again in Messenger. Everything else had been fine just that. I can only figure it was because it was having a hard time updating the first time and took me 3 tries. So even though it said it was installed, apparently it wasn't done correctly.
Though when I couldn't figure out what was wrong at first I looked and checked to see all the things were enabled that were supposed to be and they were.
I even tried to go to the Adobe site and download the last version I had and couldn't find it. Kept coming up with the new version. Others said if you download a particular older version it may not have all the security features in it.
This really gets to be a bit much, especially when you're by yourself and have only a smattering of knowledge of technical things.
