If I backup my iPhone 5 to iTunes and restore it, will I have to re-download my apps or will they be backed up onto my PC
Basically; I need to backup and restore my iPhone 5, I have a lot of apps that exceed 1GB and a very slow broadband so I was wondering if I backed up and restored my iPhone with iTunes would my apps be on my PC, ready to sync or will I have to re-download them. Replies are greatly appreciated, thanks. :)
You need to transfer your apps/itunes purchases to your computer>
File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

NEED HELP! Trying to backup my iPhone to iTunes and transfer to another iPhone with more storage.
About 2 months ago I bought a new iPhone 4 with 8gb of storage. I have since filled it up with Apps and App Data. A friend gave me his old iPhone 4 with 32gb of storage. So, I want to backup my 8gb iPhone to iTunes, have my carrier deactivate it, then activate the 32gb iPhone my friend gave me, move my number to it, and then restore my 8gb backup to the 32gb iphone.
Here's the rub ...
Since I have had my 8gb iPhone, I have never synced it with iTunes. I upgraded the OS to v.6 over the air and downloaded all my apps the same way. I spent a lot of time setting up my preferences and personalization’s directly on the phone itself.
So, now that I want to back it up, when I connect it to iTunes, I get the "Welcome to Your New iPhone" screen with only two choices; one “Set up as new iPhone”, or two “Restore from this backup:” (Which currently reflects my wife’s iPhone 4 backup). ... I want to do neither ...
I just want to plug it in, and then back it up as mentioned earlier, “without” wiping it by setting up as new or restoring my wife’s phone to it.
Is there a way to do this in iTunes?

If I recall "set up as new phone" shouldn't change anything on it, it just tells iTunes that you don't want to restore a backup of an older device to it. That said I haven't been there often enough to be absolutely sure.
Sometimes it is a matter of timing... If your question drifts off the first page or two before someone who has a useful suggestion sees it then it can get missed entirely. Yesterday in particular was bad for anyone looking for immediate help but it looks like things are running more smoothly now.

1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

My phone was disabled and needed connection to itunes. After following the restore instructions it didnt work? There was no change in internet connection or cable connection with the iPhone, it just came up with the error box after 8 very long hours of waiting! :/ i dont know what to do now?

If you have a really slow internet connection it could take a while, 8 hours is terrible though unless you're on dial-up or satellite.

Syncing Apps from Iphone to Itunes and vice versa, quick question.
Hello, so I had a small question to ask about transferring apps from both the iphone to itunes.
Basically, I downloaded an app from the app store ON my iphone.
I've made a lot of progress and have a lot of data in this app.
The(Sync app) box was never checked on my itunes, so I transferred my purchases from my iphone to my itunes, and now i've downloaded a few more apps (over 20mb) ON itunes that I want to put on my iphone.
Thing is, when I click "sync apps" it gives me a warning saying something along the lines of "Apps in itunes will replace all in iphone, including data"
Now, i've already transferred my purchases, so all the apps from my phone are on itunes, but if I sync, will I lose the DATA in my apps on my iphone? Or will the data remain in those apps?

From Page 179 of http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iphone_userguide.pdf, "You can reinstall an app and restore its data as long as you backed up iPhone with iTunes on your computer. (If you try to delete an app that hasn’t been backed up to your computer, an alert appears.) To retrieve the app data, you must restore iPhone from a backup containing the data."
So, make a backup before you click the "Sync apps button. Then, you may have to restore your phone from that backup to reload the data. -
I just syned my new iphone through itunes and it deleted all of my new pictures. is there anyway to get them back?
Do you sync your iPhone with iTunes every once in a while? If yes, there are chances that iTunes has taken last backup of your photos, contacts, etc. that you want back.
Connect your iPhone with your PC. launch iTunes, right click on your device and click on "Restore from Backup". Choose the latest backup to proceed.
If you configured iCloud for backup before you restored your iPhone. Go to Settings -> iCloud - > and login using your Apple ID. Once you've logged in, all the photos, contacts, mail, messages should be back on your iPhone. This may take a while (depending on your network).
Alternatively, if you are only now setting up your iPhone, choose 'Restore from iCloud Backup' in the setup screen. Login with Apple ID and the iPhone will be restored from the latest iCloud backup. -
Every time i connect my iphone to itunes and trying to do a backup or get the new update it says i have to restore my iphone. and then that doesnt work, i tried to reinstall itunes but it doesnt work. i get this all the time. fix it please.
iTunes states " There's a problem with your Iphone, please contact apple service center " Also i took my iphone to a local service man and he told me the IMEI code has been corrupted and there's nothing that can be done about it. Please help, if you have any solution.

i backed up my iphone to itunes and tried restoring the info on to a new iphone and for some reason it used an old back up from last may. I know that the recent back up worked as I used it to set up another phone a week ago (a phone whihc also had problems and hence I needed to use that same back up again on my second new phone. Is there anyway I can get the most recent back up information back?

2. Transfer any and all photos & videos on your iPad to your computer.
3. Erase the iPad and restore the iPhone's iCloud backup to the device.
4. Transfer any and all photos & videos on your iPad to your computer.
5. Restore the iPad backup you reated in step #1 back to the iPad. -
Upon sync or backup, I receive the message, "iTunes could not back up the iPhone "iPhone name" because and error occurred. I have deleted my backup file and tried another computer, with no success. Also, the bluetooth function stopped working.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and do the sync again and if it is working now. -
Backed Up Iphone to itunes and when restoring its looking for a password to restore! None requested or set at original backup. Can anyone help?
I have not restored device so have all my data on it still. Am not pluggin it in for first time, did this originally when setting up phone. I have an option to restore to original backup as well as 'set up as new'. What happens if I chose the 'restore from backup' option.' how do I go about backing it up first - if i right click 'iphone'' option on left hand side under devices the only option is'eject' or 'restore'.
