will Digital Voice Editor if I upgrade?

Try it and you will find out. If not, you can always revert to the old FF version.

  • Digital Voice Editor 3.3

Hi, I help a woman who transcribes a pastor's sermon using the Digital Voice Editor software. We had to replace her older XP computer with a new computer running Win 7 Home Perimum 64 bit. I have installed the latest version of DVE, but I am having a problem with it not responding. When a button or tab or even selecting a voice file is selected, the wait cursor appears and remains for several seconds without any response. The application title bar acknowledges the lengthy wait with the "(not responding)" message there as well. I have looked at system resources and we are not taxing the cpu or memory, the drive is new with very little on it, so its response too is very fast. It appears as though the program is waiting on some event or message before proceeding from every request, but I have no idea what device, event or semaphore it might be waiting on a response to continue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have not tried it in compatability mode since it states that it should work with win 7.
    Thanks,
    Mitch

When will Digital Voice be available in Falls Church, VA?

No one on this forum can answer your question. For the most part, we are U-verse subscribers who have not access to that information. My understanding is that AT&T does not plan to place U-verse nationwide.
Hopefully, your area will have U-verse in the near future. On the other hand, it may never get U-verse. Good luck

  • I use digital voice editor 3 on my pc..... want to convert to a program for the MAC.  Any suggestions????

    Hi!
Ohhhh how I hope someone out there can help me with this issue!  I use Digital Voice Editor 3 on my pc and would prefer to use my MAC however don't know of any program similar/comparable to DVE 3.
Anyone know of anything out there I can use instead of what I'm using on the pc????
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

The best? A PowerMac (tower). Mainly due to the fact the the iMac isn't expandable. For example, all Macs have one bus for all their Firewire ports; adding a PCI Firewire card to a tower system is cheap and easy and creates a second Firewire bus that helps avoid dropped frame issues when capturing to or recording from an external Firewire drive from your DV device. Can't do that on an iMac though ... no PCI slots.
Also, having the capability of adding a second internal hard drive is something totally lacking in an iMac. If you're editing DV/DVCam/HDV, you'll get much better throughput with a second internal drive that an external drive. And with some kits available, you can have up to 5 SATA drives inside a G5 tower. The capacity for more RAM is a plus also ... I'd reccomend at least 2 gigs minimum ... but you can add more as needed.

  • What Digital Voice recorders that work with MacOS 10

Hi anyone know of voice recorders that work on Macs.
All I can find is ones with PC software?
    R

    Hi, Ray.
The Olympus DS series of Digital Voice Recorders work with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
I recently researched this question for another person who already had an Olympus DS and was looking for Tiger-compatibility information. I learned the following by making direct contact with Olympus technical support personnel.
The Olympus DS series voice recorders ship with an application called DSS Player which is used to access, download, and convert files from the recorder to your Mac.
The short answer is that if you install the DSS Player application that comes with their digital voice recorders, and then install the "DSS Player for Mac (OS X) V6 Update to V6.0.4" — which can be found using their Support - Downloads Web page — then the DSS Player software will work with Tiger.
They are planning to update their Web site to reflect this as well as provide a FAQ. The basic instructions are the following:
    • If your Olympus digital voice recorder comes with DSS Player V6, you simply install "DSS Player for Mac (OS X) V6 Update to V6.0.4" using the instructions in the Read Me file.
    • If your Olympus digital voice recored comes with DSS Player versiion 1.xx, you first install the "DSS Player for Mac (OS X) Upgrade from version 1.xx to V6" using the instructions in the Read Me file, then install "DSS Player for Mac (OS X) V6 Update to V6.0.4," again following the instructions in its Read Me file.
StuffIt Expander is required to unpack these downloads. Tiger, unlike prior versions of Mac OS X, does not include Stuffit Expander: see "Mac OS X 10.4: Where is StuffIt Expander?" If you don't have StuffIt Expander, a free download of such for Mac OS X 10.4 can be found here.
To go from speech-to-text, which I presume is your main use as an author, one would also need to install software for speech-to-text conversion. According to the documentation I've read on DSS Player, the software will work with IBM ViaVoice. Another option is to use iListen™ from MacSpeech. According to this old technical note re: iListen, you'd use DSS Player to convert the .dss audio file to an .aiff file for use with iListen.
Given the choice of ViaVoice or iListen, I'd go with iListen: it's compatible with Tiger and is a supported product. Development on the ViaVoice product may have ceased since Nuance acquired the distribution rights. IBM sold the worldwide distribution rights for its ViaVoice product to Nuance (nee ScanSoft) in April 2003. While ViaVoice works under Tiger, Nuance notes some issues in this support document on their site.
Therefore, iListen would be my choice for speech-to-text.
    Good luck!

  • After upgrade will older iDVD themes still work?

I currently have iLife 05 Installed with all themes from iDVD 1 to 5. Will these older themes still work after an iLife 06 upgrade?

Hi AIR, and welcome to discussions!
Yes, in iDVD 6 are included the old themes: from iDVD5, 4, and 22 themes called "old themes". I don't know if those are all of the ones from 1 to 3, but looks like.
Anyway, you can keep for some days both version 5 and 6 of iDVD if you rename iDVD 5 with a different name (like "iDVD 5") before installing version 6.

  • Does the digital voice editor for ICD-SX57 work with windows 8?

I have recorded a few files on the ICD-SX57. I have installed the DVE software version 3.0
When youplug in the ICD-SX57, you get an error message.
It says "the ICD-SX57 recorder is not accessible. The IC recorder or drive is not ready."
I cannot transfer the files from the ICD-SX57 to my computer. Any ideas? Thanks.

When following the procedure to drag and drop files from the Integrated Chip (IC) recorder to your computer, if the DVE software generates an error message or the software does not react to the transfer request, your software will need to be updated to the current version.
To resolve this issue, download and install any current DVE software updates from our Esupport website here.

  • Digital Voice Suddenly Not Working

I recently moved into a new home and had FiOS installed. Everything worked well for about a month, but then my landline seemed to stop functioning. I can't get a dial tone on either of the phones I've tried (they'll display "No Line" or occasionally a "Line Busy" message when I do so). I *can* get a dial tone and make calls at the ONT test jack.
I made an appointment for a tech to come out today, and he told me that that everything was working fine--that things just sometimes mess up and that humidity can be hard on wiring in old homes. He successfully called the landline on his Blackberry from the basement, so I assumed everything was good, but, not five minutes after he left, I was back to having the same issues.
    Any ideas?

There is nothing wrong with your FIOS service, this is an inside wiring issue. If its not working in your phone and it works at the test jack then this proves that. The test jacks simply bypass your homes inside wiring. Somewhere in the home you have an exposed wired or some other wiring issue. Anyone can correct this, not just Verizon. Should you want Verizon to take a look at the wiring, please reply back.

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forum.
The ICD-SX750 is compatible with Mac OS X (v10.2.8 onward) and you can drag and drop files and import them into iTunes if required, however the Digital Voice Editor software is Windows only.

  • Great....upgraded my bundle and was forced into digital voice. Now I've lost my 2nd phone line

I'm beyond frustrated yet again with Verizon and trying to do an upgrade.  I upgraded my bundle and was forced into digital voice. Really didn't care to change my phone but went ahead.   So today I wake up to no 2nd phone line or distinctive ring line.  I've spent 2+ hours on the phone trying to get someone to get my phone line back and I'm so sick of being transferrred, calls dropped, wrong department, etc.  I don't have time for this **bleep**!  Plus...the online chat isn't working either.  I give up!
If there is a tech person out there that can help me get my line back....please tell me who the heck to call without getting a one hour + run around with no help!

  • Olympus Digital Voice Recorder (VN960PC)

I have an Olympus Digital Voice Recorder (VN960PC). On the Olympus site they have no Mac OSX software [though they do have it for the Dark Side] that will allow me to download the audio files onto my mac mini [PPC].
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there any software that might enable me to do this outside of going to Boot Camp or Virtual PC?
Flat Panel iMac 20 inch 1.25 ghz, iBook 500 mhz, mac mini 1.42 ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hi, bikinijack.
    1. With the particular digital voice recorder you have, I suspect you are going to be out of luck. Olympus offers DSS Player for Mac OS X for their higher-end units, i.e. their DS-series digital voice recorders.
    2. I presume you've tried connecting the VN-960PC to your Mac via USB cable and found that its built-in storage does not mount on the desktop. True?
    3. I suspect DSS Player is not going to work with your VN-960PC, but if you hada DS-series recorder, here's how I'd advise you, based on having previously researched this question for a person with a DS-series player:The short answer is that if you install the DSS Player application that comes with their digital voice recorders, and then install the "DSS Player for Mac (OS X) V6 Update to V6.0.4" — which can be found using their Support - Downloads Web page — then the DSS Player software will work with Tiger.
Tiger, unlike prior versions of Mac OS X, does not include Stuffit Expander: see "Mac OS X 10.4: Where is StuffIt Expander?" If you don't have StuffIt Expander, a free download of such for Mac OS X 10.4 can be found here.4. Since your Mac Mini is PPC, your only real option for running Windows is Virtual PC. There are some other, open-source projects for getting Windows to run under Mac OS X, but Virtual PC is probably the "gold standard" in that arena.
If your 20-inch iMac is Intel-based, in lieu of Boot Camp you could also try Parallels Desktop for Mac. This leverages the virtualization technology of the Intel chips, permitting you to run Mac OS X and Windows simultaneously.
    Good luck!

  • No digital voice for Fios early adopters in PA

Still do not understand why I cannot get this service when it is available to new customers in my area. I was the first to switch to Fios in early 2007. I have three phone lines and two separate bills. Call Assist is limited and not working on the single line I installed it on. I am forced to switch from Verizon Iobi which is being discontined as a paid program feature.  My calls to support and request for superisors are going unanswered. There was a complete Service outage all day last Saturday. I was hoping this first time event meant they were upgrading the service for  current users. Otherwise I am a raving FIOS fan. This is really souring my experience.

    Hello Gapa,
Fios Digital Voice migrations of existing accounts were placed on hold and the ability removed from systems which is why you were not getting the result you were looking for.  There is no escalation that will result in modification of the process at this time.  However this is not permanent and the process has already been engaged for 2 states.  Once PA goes live you will be notified of the option and ability to migrate at that time.
    Thank you

  • Blindsided by Verizon FIOS Digital Voice 411 charges

    Hello,
411 for any blind person is essentia!.
charging $2 per call to those who are blind is an unconcionable and devious nigh onto robbery act.
I've been a GTE/Verizon tele customer for decades. Initially with a copper line, and now with FIOS Triple play incl'd Digital Voice.
I asked during a very lengthy debate regarding the pros and cons of upgrading to DV what would change, if anything. I strongly underlined the fact I am blind at that time. I was told nothing would change save for the fact I would then have to add in the area code prefix to the dialed ph num when an outgoing  call was made. Bummer. But OK, I get a 100 # speed dial feature.
Apparently the integrity of or the training level of Verizon Sales staff is hugely suspect. THERE IS ANOTHER CHANGE... NOW, EACH AND EVERY 411 CALL WILL COST $1.99 + TAX!!!!
Being BLIND using 411 is enevitable. GTE/Verizon thru a special needs gbased facility had to my personal knowledge provided (likely mandated or required to by the gov't.)  FREE 411 CALLING for those like me... well since the mid 90s anyhow. Though a specific course of applications and letters was required for this accomodation... much like the process for a disabled parking permit process. Dr. note, etc.
Switching to DV as I was instructed to do during this last contract discussion not one word was said as to the $2 per 411 call. Nothing!
Are verizon staff simply stupid? How can something of that nature be so casually overlooked?
411 for any blind person is necessary, at least for local calls, if not entirely.!.
only during a discussion once more with a supervisor was I informed I had been billed for EACH & EVERY 411 call @ $2 per, since the "cost savings" upgrade to the new Triple Play w/DV was made over a year ago!!!
Scandalous. Ridiculous. But then Verizon has not been a totally up front utility now has it? Florida assessed an $11 million penalty for Verizon's inappropriate billing practices a few years ago on their Cellular services arm.
Apparently, in Verizon's opinion, they conduct business in a "CATCH ME IF YOU CAN" sort of arrangement.
even their current billing process says you will be billed for a Set top Box return, UNTIL they have it back in their wherever wharehouse... not when it's mailed back date or dropped off at a local Phone Mart outlet, as they instruct.
I dropped off a STB July 16, 2013 at a Phone mart nearby. Got a receipt & deactivation code print out. Aug 7, 2013 I was told they wouldn't credit me prior to the Aug 6 2013 date it was received into their wharehouse... not the actual date it was  returned.
business &* billing practices such as these evaccuates any sense of good faith which both parties MUST aspire to, and is central to any leagal agreement or contract for services.
Verizon repeatedly ignores the good faith aspect and regularly punishes it's client base financially to suit their own needs/desires.
unscrupulous conduct such as this is deplorable and should not go without penalty. Ethics as shown by Verizon are non essential and they flaunt it in the face of the State, the Country, and their subvscribers routinely..  such actions exceed and nullify the boundaries of usual consumer propriety. The ordinary reference of 'Caveat Emptor"  or BUYER BEWARE is a prerequisite IF one wishes to, or is entertaining the idea of contracting business with Verizon. Not only must the buyer beware at time of purchase, but each billing cycle thereafter!!
If I must watch a company I am in bed with each and every month to surveil their billing, exactly what does that say about Verizon?  the old adage "the bill is computer generated" sours in the mouth and falls without weight on the ears, as Verizon itself programs those computers. Consequently Verizon has BUILT in exteranneous facilities for acquiring either temporal or permanent revenue streams with it's deplorable operating and billing regimen.
...and when Verizon goes to the lengths of stealing from the disabled, or worse still, the blind, it's shameful... it's plain crookedness... thieivery...  and defies ethical forthwrightness.

Yes, it is correct and I've not been able to get a straight answer from Verizon about why the account number changes--I recently signed up for triple play of broadband, phone and tv from my double play of broadband and phone (Freedom Essentials). My account number did not change when I switched to FiOS (broadband/phone) in 2009.
I received an email from Verizon's FiOS Customer Experience Team for the Mid-Atlantic Region welcoming me to FiOS (although, as noted, I've been a FiOS customer since 2009). I replied to that email asking why my account number changed, what my new payment date would be (that also changes fro some bizarro reason) and also that I wanted to go back to Freedom Essentials since Digital Voice is NOT state regulated (no protection then if there are problems, no regulations as to price increases, etc.). While I received a reply, my questions have never been answered and my "customer experience" has been extremely poor with respect to any help/response from Verizon's Mid-Atlantic region team. I have not yet received my first bill for the new account.
