IFS and archiving system

Hi everybody,
I think to implement archiving system with iFS.
The problem is how could I store data offline? i.e. on removable media like CD.
I think to use read-only tablespace with READ_ONLY_OPEN_DEALYED = TRUE and put this tablespace on CD's.
Could there be problems when I rebuild Oracle Text Index? I want users to be able to search documents online, but for viewing archived documents they should insert CD where tablespace with this document is.
May be there are some example of implementation of such a system.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings:
This messages is primarily directed to Luis Saenz.
I'm referring to previous messages in this thread. We have a strong desire to IFS content as BFILES. We are writing a system for a large insurance company that has a large document archiving component. The customer has a backup solution that is Windows based that they are very happy with (and they will not change). The concern is that that IFS tablespace will become unnecessarily large. The 9.0.3 aging may solve my problem. I some questions.
1. Back in July you stated that 9.0.3 would be available very soon. Is it in beta now (mid sept 2002) now? Can I get on the beta tester list?
2. Is it possible, by modifying internal IFS tables, to use BFILES (say, in 9.0.2)??
I need some sort of answer soon - I have design decisions that must be made.

  • How do I create an archive system for a blog created with a custom app?

I had to create a blog using a custom app, because I needed an image to show up in the list view (a feature I can't believe does not exist in the blog module). Anyways, I am wondering how can I create an archive system? Do I need to create categories for each month/year and then classify the post each time we create one. Then manually create links each month to pages that filters listing by that category? This is the system I tried, but I was wondering if there was a better way.
Also, I would like to have a sidebar that shows all the authors/contributors of the blogs and have a count under their photo that shows how many blogs they have contributed to, and have this update dynamically each time they create a new post. I was wondering if a data source tag is the way to do this but I don't have enough information on how the data source tag even works, to really know how to do this.
I have searched google for hours, and even signed up for BC gurus tutorials with no real luck. I thought BC gurus was going to have the answer but it wasn't quite detailed enough. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You can use classifications but there is no auto feature to archive like that on web apps.
In terms of the blog, Like I have said to everyone that has posted about blog preview images:
    http://www.prettypollution.com.au/business-catalyst-blog
Just one example of an image at the start of the blog post rendering out, not hard at all.

  • Capture all SQL statements and archive to file in real time

Want to Capture all SQL statements and archive to file in real time?
Oracle Session Manager is the tool just you need.
    Get it at http://www.wangz.net
This tools monitor how connected sessions use database instance resources in real time. You can obtain an overview of session activity sorted by a statistic of your choosing. For any given session, you can then drill down for more detail. You can further customize the information you display by specifying manual or automatic data refresh, the rate of automatic refresh.
In addition to these useful monitoring capabilities, OSM allows you to send LAN pop-up message to users of Oracle sessions.
    Features:
--Capture all SQL statement text and archive to files in real time
--Pinpoints problematic database sessions and displays detailed performance and resource consumption data.
--Dynamically list sessions holding locks and other sessions who are waiting for.
--Support to kill several selected sessions
--Send LAN pop-up message to users of Oracle sessions
--Gives hit/miss ratio for library cache, dictionary cache and buffer cache periodically, helps to tune memory
    --Export necessary data into file
--Modify the dynamic system parameters on the fly

    Dear Adobe.
Yesterday I installed the latest version of Flash Player that auto appeared on my screen. Ever since I can not play video, and my system has become painfully slow. I have Mac OS Lion 10.7.5 and software is up to date. Before this everything was running beautifully. Can you please provide a link so I can uninstall the latest version only. Thank you. Stephen Kress. Melbourne. Australia

When you run the uninstaller, it will uninstall all Flash Player versions.
If you want to revert to an older version after that, get it from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html

  • Diff. between content server and archive server(SARA on content server)

I am very interested about difference between content server and archive server. Is there content server supplied by SAP and archive server by third party producers or something else?
If so dditionally what needs to be done to archive data (via Sara) on content server. I did it on sap R/3 4.0 on an archive server. Is it huge difference to do it on 4.7x2 on content server?

    Hey,
The content server is used to save documents,
and SARA (and other third party producers) are used to archive old data.
    For example:
You should use Content server - When you need to save un-structured data about worker (e.g: pictures, documents and etc) .
You should use SARA (and other third parties) - When you need to move to archive old
worker which have left your organization before 5 or more years (there for they are not relevant for you)
Here is some more information about Content server
    from help.sap.com:
"Therefore, besides the SAP database, an external content server is always available in every SAP system installation. In this way, the necessary technical infrastructure is provided for all document-centric applications and business scenarios that do not require a long-term archiving solution"
Here is some more information about SARA and archiving
    from help.sap.com:
"Data Archiving removes from the database application data from closed business transactions that are no longer relevant for the operational business. The archived data is stored in archive files that can be accessed by the system in read-only mode."

  • Urgent: Huge diff in total redo log size and archive log size

    Dear DBAs
I have a concern regarding size of redo log and archive log generated.
Is the equation below is correct?
total size of redo generated by all sessions = total size of archive log files generated
I am experiencing a situation where when I look at the total size of redo generated by all the sessions and the size of archive logs generated, there is huge difference.
My total all session redo log size is 780MB where my archive log directory size has consumed 23GB.
Before i start measuring i cleared up archive directory and started to monitor from a specific time.
    Environment: Oracle 9i Release 2
How I tracked the sizing information is below
logon as SYS user and run the following statements
    DROP TABLE REDOSTAT CASCADE CONSTRAINTS;
    CREATE TABLE REDOSTAT
    AUDSID NUMBER,
    SID NUMBER,
    SERIAL# NUMBER,
    SESSION_ID CHAR(27 BYTE),
    STATUS VARCHAR2(8 BYTE),
    DB_USERNAME VARCHAR2(30 BYTE),
    SCHEMANAME VARCHAR2(30 BYTE),
    OSUSER VARCHAR2(30 BYTE),
    PROCESS VARCHAR2(12 BYTE),
    MACHINE VARCHAR2(64 BYTE),
    TERMINAL VARCHAR2(16 BYTE),
    PROGRAM VARCHAR2(64 BYTE),
    DBCONN_TYPE VARCHAR2(10 BYTE),
    LOGON_TIME DATE,
    LOGOUT_TIME DATE,
    REDO_SIZE NUMBER
    TABLESPACE SYSTEM
    NOLOGGING
    NOCOMPRESS
    NOCACHE
    NOPARALLEL
    MONITORING;
    GRANT SELECT ON REDOSTAT TO PUBLIC;
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER TR_SESS_LOGOFF
    BEFORE LOGOFF
    ON DATABASE
    DECLARE
    PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION;
    BEGIN
    INSERT INTO SYS.REDOSTAT
    (AUDSID, SID, SERIAL#, SESSION_ID, STATUS, DB_USERNAME, SCHEMANAME, OSUSER, PROCESS, MACHINE, TERMINAL, PROGRAM, DBCONN_TYPE, LOGON_TIME, LOGOUT_TIME, REDO_SIZE)
SELECT A.AUDSID, A.SID, A.SERIAL#, SYS_CONTEXT ('USERENV', 'SESSIONID'), A.STATUS, USERNAME DB_USERNAME, SCHEMANAME, OSUSER, PROCESS, MACHINE, TERMINAL, PROGRAM, TYPE DBCONN_TYPE,
    LOGON_TIME, SYSDATE LOGOUT_TIME, B.VALUE REDO_SIZE
    FROM V$SESSION A, V$MYSTAT B, V$STATNAME C
    WHERE
    A.SID = B.SID
    AND
    B.STATISTIC# = C.STATISTIC#
    AND
    C.NAME = 'redo size'
    AND
    A.AUDSID = sys_context ('USERENV', 'SESSIONID');
    COMMIT;
    END TR_SESS_LOGOFF;
Now, total sum of REDO_SIZE (B.VALUE) this is far less than archive log size. This at time when no other user is logged in except myself.
Is there anything wrong with query for collecting redo information or there are some hidden process which doesnt provide redo information on session basis.
I have seen the similar implementation as above at many sites.
Kindly provide a mechanism where I can trace which user is generated how much redo (or archive log) on a session basis. I want to track which all user/process are causing high redo to generate.
If I didnt find a solution I would raise a SR with Oracle.
    Thanks
    [V]

You can query v$sess_io, column block_changes to find out which session generating how much redo.
The following query gives you the session redo statistics:
    select a.sid,b.name,sum(a.value) from v$sesstat a,v$statname b
    where a.statistic# = b.statistic#
    and b.name like '%redo%'
    and a.value > 0
    group by a.sid,b.name
If you want, you can only look for redo size for all the current sessions.

  • Install and Archive

I've read posts on this but I seem to have such a basic question that I think it wasn't asked before. So, here it goes:
    - I had to perform an install and archive because my MBP would not start - I'd get that message in I-don't-know-how-many languages. I now have a folder on my HD that reads Previous Systems. My question is: the library folder I find in there is the old username/library or the HD/library?
    Thanks

This should help you alot: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120.
If you would like a run down of every last file and folder it preseves including and not including preserving network and user settings, please check this article.
    Hope this helps.

  • Best option for hosting forms online and archiving the completed forms?

Forgive the length of this post, but I feel it necessary to give a little background information into our problem.
We were looking for a simple solution to a seemingly simple problem: Host ~15 safety forms online for field technicians (electricians) to fill out via their netbooks and submit to some sort of repository for archiving with the ability for the technicians to reopen the forms and make additions over the course of the job / week as well as firing an email off to our H&S rep per form submitted.
Acrobat + Remote Desktop Services (SBS 2011 network) + Reader seemed like a good solution and does work, but it's somewhat cumbersome for the less computer literate techs and proving to be more time in support then we are potentially saving going with paperless forms. This is the system we have in place now.
We initially purchased Acrobat Standard and subsequently upgraded to Professional when we found some limitations we weren't expecting in Acrobat Standard. An Adobe Sales rep also suggested that we check out Livecycle Designer 9, which was included with Acrobat Pro which included even more nice stuff. I started re-authoring the forms in LCD9.
The issue now is that I have Dynamic XML forms with flowed content that cannot be submitted by Reader to sharepoint. Why? You can't reader extend livecycle forms with acrobat, which it is bundled with.....
Why exactly adobe has two different and somewhat incompatible forms authoring tools bundled in the same product is beyond me, especially when one of them requires what I would imagine is an expensive server product to enable it's full use?
So it seems I have a choice between having my employer purchase Reader Extensions ES2 to maintain the nice form design with flowed content, purchasing 12 copies of acrobat to put on the netbooks when Reader SHOULD be all that we need or converting all the dynamic XML forms authored in LCD9 into static AcroForms so they can be reader extended and deployed to sharepoint.
We envision our technicians browsing to and logging in to our hosted sharepoint server, selecting the appropriate form template from a drop down list in a doc library or list, which opens the form for completion in the browser and on submit posts the form to a list on sharepoint for completed forms, preferably with some key fields mapped to custom columns in said list AND with the ability for the submitting technician to re-open the submitted form from sharepoint and make additions as the week / job progresses.
What would be the best option given our current situation and needs? With all due respect, I am looking for suggestions from technically oriented or experienced persons, not sales reps that don't fully know the product.

Ok, so I have done some additional reading and I've found out that Livecycle forms can be submitted via reader without reader extensions so long as the submit is via HTTP Post or as XML data only.
This effectively means you can collect the data from the submitted forms for processing, but you can not re-render the form from the form template and the XML without the presumably expensive server component, Reader Extensions, which for all I know, requires other components to run.
This all seems awfully expensive for a solution to host a dozen or so forms and archive the submissions in one place where they can be re-opened and added to.
I don't undestand why it's so prohibitively expensive to submit dynamic PDF forms as PDF vs submitting static PDF forms as PDF, which can be done with Acrobat Pro all by itself at ~$500.

  • I'm running V10.6.8 and the system is not recognizing a San Disc adapter that I plug into the side of the keyboard. This always worked in the past. Whats changed?

I'm running V10.6.8 and the system is not recognizing the presence of a San Disc (SDHC) adapter that I plug into the left side of the keyboard. This always worked in the past. Whats changed? I can't upload my images to a folder.

Another item I'd found when getting an SD card for an older camera was the lack of backward support from the SD card if it was too new, while a newer camera can sometimes use an older SD card at a slower read-write speed. There are limits and ceilings on what kind of card works with old/new stuff.
So I ended up taking a nice SD card back to one store and had to settle on a 'walmart kinda dubious kingston two pack a cure' for the older Panasonic Lumix. Smaller capacity but seems to work OK for the era. I don't trust kingston with macs, but this 10 y/o Lumix seems to not care about that.
Hopefully you can obtain the correct cards, because some stores only sell parts for their inventory of cameras. And some adapters are limited too.
Depending on what I'm doing with the card and the camera it goes with, I attach the camera to the computer and not just the card in a reader. That way I can file items inside the camera SD card in a way the camera won't overwrite them. Later when I save everything from the card into an external hard disk drive, all my filed folders of images by date (I created in the SD) appear in order, in the later archive. Easier too, when I burn to DVD or CD media, to create yet another archive away from the computer or the camera.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • After a install and archive...

I recently did a clean install and archive. Can I trash the previous system folder?

Yes, you can. Only reason to keep it around is if you later want to copy over some preference files, but as you clearly had a reason to A&I, it's most likely best to just trash the old system folder.

  • BO Reports Archival System

    Hi Experts,
Are we have any specific business objects reports archival system/product in SAP?
One of our client requirement is to keep the backup of daily, weekly, monthly business objects reports for future reference,
we are planning to generate the reports through schedule option in BO, user expected/want to enter the date and retrieve the specif old dated reports in the future, for this requirement, SAP having any Archival reports access system or product or we need to go any third-party system to view the reports,
if you have any knowledge/idea then kindly share the same.
    Regards,
    Balaji

    Hi Balaji,
Regarding your query below is the suggestion:
One of our client requirement is to keep the backup of daily, weekly, monthly business objects reports for future reference,
Solution: Yes you can take Offline & Online backup of SAP Business Objects Application (FRS) and Offline backup of database, Please refer below SCN Link for more details
    Backup Type
    Backup Contents
    Applicability
    Full Content backup
Central Management Server (CMS) System Tables
    Used for Full Content recovery
    Auditing Tables
    File Repository Server (FRS)
    Local audit log files
    Custom SDK applications/code
    Database Connections (ODBC DSNs)
    Any Application/Server specific configuration document
    BIAR Backup
    .BIAR Backup
    Used for selective content recovery
    BusinessObjects Monitoring and Housekeeping activities
we are planning to generate the reports through schedule option in BO, user expected/want to enter the date and retrieve the specif old dated reports in the future, for this requirement, SAP having any Archival reports access system or product or we need to go any third-party system to view the reports,
Solution: When you schedule the report it default location is report itself,But it increase FRS size drastically, So for this we have to set "LIMIT" functionality at Folder & SubFolder level to delete old instances by default Instance limit is 100 but that option is disable you have to enable it.You can set the Limit as per your requirement.
So please discuss with client that "Archival System" is possible but in different way you have to take back Daily/Weekly/Monthly and then deploy the backup if your SAP Business Objects Applictaion (system) crash.
    Hope this will help!!!!
    Thanks,
    Daya

  • Looking to create archive system to replace Thumbsplus have questions

    Hi all,
I need to have these questions answere so I know if I can switch my archiving system from Thumbsplus to Lightroom. FYI: My archiving sytem has worked for me for about 12 years & I need the following functions or a work around.
Can lightroom read files within a zipped folder? If not is there a pluggin for that?
I give names to my CDs. In Thumbsplus I can see a list of my offline CDs. Does Light room have something similar? FYI: I Imported the files from a CD and something funny happened. When I click on the arrow iin the Folders Panel (in lightroom) I don't see the name of the CD, instead I see the names of the folders that were on the CD. Ideally I would click on the arrow iin the Folders Panel (in lightroom) and see the names of the CDs that were imported. Am I being clear? Is there a solution to this?
Can I convert psd files to jpegs
I also need the ability to type a name of a file and find which offline CD it's on (like thumbsplus does).
In Thumbs  plus if I go to a folder and there are thumbnails that weren't created it shows be a blank box with an X with the name of the file under it. This is a great benefit to my art studio. We have a large art studio and alot of artists forget to make the thumnails - they see the blank boxes and know they have to create them. Does lightroom have a similar feature. If this is so can I make thumbnails of individual files (the blank ones with the Xs in them).
Is the a way of saving the entire database offline. I need this in case I my system crashes or If I want to transfer my offline CD thumbnails to another pc (that has lighrooom installed).
If any has the time to answer these questions it would be greately appreciated. Please try to explain in simple terms.
PS: Also if I'm off base with my ideas on how to use lightroom to archive things, can someone please steer me towards an archiving program that addresses these issues?

  • How to attach document to invoice and archive

From trans VF03 I can manually attach document via
System -> Service Object -> Create attachment.
Does anyone know how can I attach the real invoice image (PDF file) to the invoice in back ground mode because I want to attach document to every single invoice.
My final goal is to attach the document to billing document and archive them to an external storage system.  Can some one point me to the right direction.   Thanks.

    Hi
That tools create only an hit in some tables where the path of attach document is stored (not file).
So you should check which are those tables.

  • Strategies and alternatives to backup and archiving

Please i will gladly welcome suggestions on where to find(documentation) and/or what are the alternative technologies or techniques i have in j2EE, for backing up and archiving files.
    Thank you in advance.

Doing system-level tasks in J2EE is not a good idea. Use a system level tool to do it (like cron and tar on Unix).
