Imovie will not stop loading

I just recently upgraded to ilife '08 and everything seems to be working fine except everytime i open i movie the rainbow loading icon, goes on, and on, and on...I've tried just leaving it up but eventually i have to force quit because it is going nowhere

hi,
i have a mac book pro that's a few months old. last nite the software was updating and it looked like it would take a while and so i quit and it didn't seem to stop........i waited it and decided to restart (by pressing the start up button for a bit to shut down and then started up again) and when i did go back on it would not stop loading.......the mac intel update that i had been updating was to take a long time (about an hour at the longest) so i let it reload for about an hour and it never stopped........i shut it down again for a while and did it again and still nothing......same for this morning.
i do not have apple care and am past the 90 day tech help so i guess the option would be to send it back to apple because my warrranty is still good......before i do i thought i would try here and see if anyone has any ideas.....like inserting the original software and do that start up thing by hitting certain keys.........i just don't want to void the warranty...any ideas?

Sounds like you had a corrupted system prior to updating. You may be able to restore without erasing the hard drive.
How to Perform an Archive and Install
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.
Note: Do the following to repair the hard drive.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

Mail will not stop loading, twirling rainbow icon will not stop, cannot close mail application then.

Just downloaded OS X Mountain Lion and on my Mac Book Pro (mid 2009). When I select the mail application this problem occurs: the rainbow icon that twirls will not stop, and then I cannot close the mail program at all. Click on the apple in the top left corner of the computer. If it doesn't let you, open another application such as finder, and then click it, then go down the force quit, then click mail and then press force quit.

App will not stop loading

I was playing a game (Pocket Frogs) on my iPad mini when an ad for another game app (Skyburger) popped up. I wanted to touch the 'x' to close the screen but accidentally touched on the screen and Skyburger started loading. The problem is that it won't stop loading and, strangely, Pocket Frogs is still visible underneath the loading page. I can't get back to Pocket Frogs or stop Skyburger from loading. It's stuck on a black & white "Loading" bar with Pocket Frogs visible (but not accessible) underneath the black background behind the loading bar.
How can I get this app to stop loading so that I can access Pocket Frogs again?

Update: strangely, the problem fixed itself. I checked again after about a day and the loading page was gone, Skyburger never loaded, and Pocket Frogs was visible again. So if this happens to you, perhaps just try waiting it out.

you know the start up page that appears when you press the power button, the blue ish white one with the apple logo on the middle and a circular loading thing? Well mine won't stop loading. I left it on all night and it still hasnt finished loading. Its the circular one that just goes around and around. Helpme! Wjat should I do??

It's called the "gray screen" and you can hopefully hold down the Shift key on a wired keyboard when rebooting to let the machine enter safe mode, then backup your data off the machine in case it's a failing hard drive and then go around uninstalling, updating reinstallling all your third party software.
If that doesn't fix it then a #18 Reinstall Just OS X usually does the trick too

It can be tricky sometimes. Go to your youtube account in Safari and try logging in. They might have changed the security requirements. In addition, you might find this software easier to use for uploading video to youtube.

I don't know what version of iMovie you are using, nor the Mac OS X version (that's always helpful when posting questions).
However, usually when iMovie has the type of problem you mention, it's advisable to firstly trash the preference file. Here's how to go about it for iMovie '11 on Mountain Lion (similar methods apply for other versions):
Go to your Home folder <your user name>/Library/Preferences (NOT the Library folder at the top level in Macintosh HD). Similar to Lion, on Mountain Lion (10.8.3), the Home Library folder will be hidden (unlike pre-Lion OS X versions). To access it, click and hold down Go in the Finder menu bar, then press and hold down the Option key on the keyboard - the Library folder will appear in the drop down list. Slide the pointer down to Library and, as you release the pointer, the folder will open in Finder. Now you can navigate to the Preferences folder.
In your user Library/Preferences folder, locate a file named "com.apple.iMovieApp.plist". With iMovie closed, drag this file to the Desktop. When next opened, iMovie will create a fresh preference file with the default settings (this happens in the background as iMovie is loading).
If iMovie now opens and appears to be working properly, you can change the default settings in the menu item "IMovie > Preferences", as desired. Also, it's now safe to drag the old preference file to the Trash. Trashing the file will not harm any existing Events or Projects.
Note that these instructions are for iMovie '11 (currently version 9.0.9). For users on earlier versions, the preference file has a different but similar name. For example, for iMovie '09 (that's version 8.0.6) the file is named "com.apple.iMovie8.plist". Earlier versions may or may not have a number in the name, for example, "com.apple.iMovie.plist"
If this doesn't fix the problem with iMovie crashing, please come back as I have another possible solution to offer.

After installing Firefox6 many sites will not finish loading. I click on "stop loading this page" and then click on "reload this page" and the page loads. Also if I disable javascript the page will load.

After installing Firefox 6 MANY web site will not finish loading. I disabled all add-ons and still have the problem. If I disable javascript, the pages will load. When the page is trying to load, if I hit "stop loading this page" and then hit "reload this page", the page will load; but sometimes I have to do this 2-3 times for the page to finish loading. No problem with these pages using IE8.

I see that you ave changed some network.http prefs. 
Doing that can cause all kinds of problems because not all servers like such changes, so you can try to reset those prefs on the about:config page.

If your computer is not freezing when you are referring to a white circle, there may be an issue with the touch screen software installed on your computer. To correct this, I suggest re-installing all of the original software and hardware drivers that first came with your computer. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8), and then update the software by Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8). If the white cursor will not stop blinking after performing the steps in the documents above, I recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point to before the issue occurred. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8).
Should the problem continue, I suggest performing a backup and recovery of your operating system. This can be done by following the steps in this resource on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), as well as Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 8). This should return your system back to factory defaults.

what do you do when a movie you buy , will not down load?

I tried again this morning. All I see is a white screen with the words "iTunes Store" in the center of it, in gray. When I click on store at the top, and then "Home", the top of the browser says "Accessing iTunes Store" with a progress meter that goes halfway, stops and then it turns into the black Apple logo. Same thing happens when I try to click on that little house icon.
Do you guys see album covers in there, or what? I downloaded the itunes software yesterday to my desktop AND laptop, and I am experiencing the same problem on BOTH computers. I am running Vista Home Premium, on DSL.
Oh, and thank you for the link to the troubleshooting for this--I am reading it now, trying to figure this out.
I finally figured out that I could access the iTunes store from my iPod (duh!!) last night, but I'd like to be able to do this on my PC too. So it's larger and easier to see.

Hello, my nokia 5233 will not down load any maps have down loaded google maps but it will not open. Have done a system upgrade. don't know how to save before doing anything else. The only maps ovi store has are maps of Melbourne Metro train stops which does not help me. please help me

Bear in mind that 5233 does NOT have embedded GPS chip, which is why in Menu > Applications > Location > Positioning > Positioning methods there is only choice of Bluetooth GPS or Network based, the latter being insufficient for navigation purposes.
