In Final Cut Pro I was trying to move an Event Library from one hard drive to another as explained in the Help section. After doing so, I received a message that my event is already open with the same identifier as the new one I just created on the new disk. It says the second document cannot be opened and to move one of these documents out of your Final Cut Events folder. It also says to avoid this problem, copy events from within Final Cut Pro, but that is what I did in the first place. What should I do to avoid the double opening conflict?
What exactly are you doing and what version are you using with OS X 10.8?

I was trying to move my music to an external hard drive but now I have lost all music that was not purchased with itunes. I never hit delete so its still somewhere on my imac. How do I find it?
Do a Spotlight search or do a logical search along folders that make sense such as looking in the music folder first. Moving a library correctly should not result in any loss, and I can't think of any way to move a library and lost just a select grouping of files. How were you trying to effect this?

I am trying out Final Cut Pro X on a 30 day trial. So far so good.
I am now trying desperately to import a project from iMovie 11 (version 9.0.9) into FCPX.
I have read multiple posts on this subject and they all recommend File/import/ from iMovie project in FCPX
However there is NO such option under File/import in FCPX - nor is there an option to export to FCPX in iMovie 11
Can anyone please enlighten me.The current version of FCPX does not work with that version of iMovie. You need version 10.0.3, which allows you to send a project to FCP.

I was trying to move some of my iphotos to a CD. I don't know what happened, but when I try to sign out of iphoto I get a message saying "there is a burn in progress" and it will not let me shut down my computer or get out of the iphoto site.
A better way is to select the photos in iPhoto and export to a desk top folder, right click on it and burn to disk

Question regarding the itunes library files when moving itunes library from 1 hard drive to another.
My itunes library had out grown my 2TB drive (I'm a bit of a podcast addict) so I got a 4TB drive to replace it but for some reason my Mac Pro started to act up and eventually apps became crippled to where they would not open.
So I had no choice but to go back to my 2TB drive for my boot drive for now but my itunes library is now slightly larger than the 2TB drive and won't fit so with my previous 4TB drive connected via a hard drive dock I followed the instructions to move my itunes library to a secondary 4TB drive in my mac pro and that went fine the one thing I noticed is in the article it says not to move the 2 library files but now my itunes media is on a internal drive and the 2 library files are on the hard drive connected to my mac pro via the dock so if I was to remove the drive from the dock the 2 library files would no longer be accessable and my itunes library would not be able to be found even though the media in on one of my internal drives.

In the past when I have imported my dslr video/audio files and then my zoom audio files Final Cut Pro has organized them in pairs in my library. For some reason my video/audio and my audio are being organized seperately. How do I fix this? Thanks!
Thank you Russ! Seems as though the timestamp on my audio files was completely incorrect so it placed the files far away from the corresponding video. I've modified the timestamp information and this has helped. The hour/minute information is incorrect but at least now I'm in the ballpark. Thank you!

I HAVE COMPLETED SEVERAL IMOVIES AND FINALIZED JUST FINE. NOW I GET THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE FROM MY LATEST PROJECT. "The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (File already open with write permission)"! What is going on?

Trash the preference files while application is NOT Running.
Easiest way to find out if this is the problem is by:
• Create a new User-Account
• Log out of Your old one and into this
• Re-try iMovie
If it now works OK - then 99.9% the problem is iMovie pref. file that needs to be trashed.

try switching-off the Local Mobile Backup
in Terminal copy/paste
sudo tmutil disablelocal

Unable to open firefox - get message that " a copy is already open and only one copy can be open at a time. I have dragged the app to the waste basket and downloaded another firefox app. However same result". I have a IMAC , V.10.6.3.
I get above message when I click on the firefox icon.This worked, I used the method described in this link http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=365156, and opened the Mozilla profile screen with the terminal on my mac, using the language given in the links. Then I duplicated my original profile to save the bookmarks, etc. Put them in a folder listed Duplicate profile with the date. With the open profile screen, I deleted my original profile, created new profile folder and then a new profile. Note that profile cannot be created in the system library, it must be created on the disc, because the library will not allow writing into it. After I created my new profile folder, I dragged all my old information into it, and it worked. Firefox closed and the error disappeared. You must be VERY careful to make sure Firefox is closed anytime you are doing anything with the profile folders. I think that is what caused my original problem.

.mts files - I thought Final Cut Pro 7 was going to have
a solution for these.... If I had the camera, I know I could use Log & Transfer, but I don't. I do have the entire folder on my hard drive, but they still won't import. Is a conversion software like Voltaic the only solution here?

Hmmm... wishful thinking maybe, it was never suggested by any official source that I heard of myself. Still, I guess thats besides the point at this stage.

Joel, are you certain you have the full (bdmv) folder containing all the various subfolders of which the stream (mts clip) folder is just one ... or is it just the folder with the mts files in?

When I click on finalize project or when I tried to share on Vimeo iMovie goes through this ten hour operation and the, somethime while I'm away from the computer, I get this error message. This has happened to me before and I can't nail down the particulars of when this happens. I will say I've never been able to Finalize A Project (not even sure what than means) but I have been able to publish short films to YouTube. This current film is a little over an hour and I picked the HD Format. Could the size have something to do with it?See the discussion here:

I downloaded the Final Cut Pro X trial but my movie is 17 minutes long but it will only Share to Quick time 6:55 minutes. How do I fix this and export the full 17 minutes?

I am very much a novice with Final Cut. I am trying to import some video files from my desktop but keep getting an error message that says, "File error 1 file recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown". The file type is .mov, 35MB, 1920 x 1080, Codec MPEG-2 video linear PCM timecode, color profile HD (1+1+1). Can someone help? Thanks, PaulYou can't import MPEG-2 files directly to FCP X.
Can you play this file in Quicktime Player? If so, then you can use the free program MPEG Streamclip to convert this to Quicktime. Use the ProRes codec. -
Hi! When trying to save my document as a pdf, I get the message that "this pdf is already open somewhere and cannot be saved". I have not yet succeeded in saving it, and I've closed all preview windows of it, so it simply can't be open anywhere. Whats wrong??
Correction on Question:
This is a web application and the users need to be able to load the editable .pdf form from the website, edit it and submit it back to the website from within Internet Explorer.
Users began getting the error message:
'The document could not be saved. This file is already open.'
last Friday after having no problems prior to this. Some users can edit the editable .pdf forms on the website and save the file with the same name to the website. Some get the error mentioned in the subject.
We really need help getting this resolved.
