In-process  inspection for rework operation

Hi all,
i have a production order to which the in-process inspection characteristics are assigned in routing. when a production order is released, an in-process inspection lot is created. Inspection is carried after the end of an operation.  During which rework will be carried out if the product is rejected.   Rework operations are trigged through trigger points assigned to the production order. A reference operations set indicating the rework operations is assigned to the trigger point. rework operation in the reference opeation set is also assigned with inspection characteristics.  But during the results recording, the rework inspection characteristics are not displayed for results recording.....
pls explain the possible solution.

sravan kumar v

Hello
I think that the process can be mapped in one of these ways:
- according to what you describe this is closer to a good receipt inspection and not to in-process inspection, as the trigger for the inspection is the GR and not the release of the order. So, why dont you give a chance to a 04 inspection type, with inspection lot creation for every GR ? Check the indictor in MM02, QM view for "04" inspection, and uncheck the "Stock in quality", so you dont get caught by the stock in quality and resembles in process "Non-stock relevant" inspection
- alternatively you can define the use of inspection points ? So you are adding new results as new confirmations are made. Disadvantage: you can only give one usage decision to the inspection Lot, irrespective of the number of samples you have analyzed.

  • In Process Inspection for Repetitive Manufacturing

    Hi All,
I'm trying to perform in-process inspection for repetitive manufacturing. I have a semi finished material which has the inspection type 13 activated in the material master. Rate routing for it has also been created. Characteristics have been assigned to its operation and the routing is attached to a production version. When I o to MFPR to create a lot, I specify the material, plant and production version with QM active (tried the other 2 options as well) but when I execute, nothing shows up in the list. When I click on create inspection lot, it says, "either select versions or place cursor on versions now" but there's nothing in the list?
    Regards,
    Bilal

    Hi,
Please check whether the repetitive manufacturing check box and REM profile is defined in the MRP4 of material master.
Please define that and try to run the transaction MFPR.
    It should solve your problem

  • QM In-Process Inspection for Batch Managed Material

    Hi,
I have a issue related to UD of In-Process inspection for batch managed material. The production process is discrete manufacting for a cold rolling mill. A production order can have mutiple coils as per the production amount. To track the individual coil , batch management has ben activated. We have both in-process as well as inspection after production here.
For inspection after production we are fine as we are doing partial confirmation after every coil and have separate inspection lot having different batch number.
But for in-process I can have only one inspection lot for the production order (created on release of the production order). I can do the result recording but while trying to do UD u2013 it is asking for a batch number as the material is batch managed. W/o entering the batch number system is not allowing me to do the UD.
Is there any solution/work around of this problem.
    -Regards
    ashim

    Hi Ashim,
you raised a very good question? i am helpless here to execute same scenario,
but i disussed with my QM guy here, he said, once the material is batch managed then it has to ahve batch in UD.
so i discussed ur case, which is very much valid for heavy ind like cement and all,
so what i suggest, u create a dummy batch in the UD for in process (no inventory posting)
and at confimation give ur usual batch (if system propose the dummy batch which u give in the UD for inprocess, try to change there--- i hope it should allow)
i would really like to here answer from u for this.
try to do as suggested, and let me know the results.

  • Double inpeocess inspection for a operation

    Dear All,
I am using in-process inspection for process order. In order i have 10 phases. At 7th phase i have applied one purification process and inprocess inspection for Impurities. If the impurity is present i carry 8th phase process of purification, and if then also impurity present the i carry 9th phase of purification. All these processes are already maintained in master recipe, so by default that will copy to process order.
Now my question is that, if in 7th phase of purification my impurity % is OK, then i have no need to carry other two 8th and 9th phase. If 7th is OK then user don,t want to confirm 8th and 9th phase. And material consumption is also depend on that. For evert stage 100 L solvent is required. But my confirmation is against PI sheet. What i can do to map this in system.

  • Business Process Maps/ Process Flows for Retail Operations

    Dear All,
I am looking for Business Process Maps/ Process Flows for Retail Operations like forecasting, inter store transfers, ASN, Procurement, Allocation etc.
Kindly provide me with a link, docs, PPts etc.
Appreciation would be in the form of points.

    Hi Jack
Seeing as you only got one reply - I'm jumping in with my 2-peneth.
Seldom have I found process content which sufficiently explains both manual and automated processes in a format which is sufficiently simple to engage discussion (between project teams and business representatives).  Is there a way to strike the required balance - simplicity for the sake of engagement; yet rich enough to record SAP dependencies, system requirements and so forth.
An answer in my opinion is [here|https://ecohub.sdn.sap.com/irj/ecohub/solutions/control2007].  (Honest account - I work for Nimbus.  But you don't have to take my word for it.  Check out our case studies if you like. This approach is being adopted by several strategic SAP accounts several of which are listed [here|https://ecohub.sdn.sap.com/irj/ecohub/solutions/control2007]).
What might partly address your requirement is the [APQC Process Classification Framework|http://www.apqc.org/portal/apqc/site/?path=/research/pcf/index.html] . We took this framework as a starting point for building a model company process map. I cannot claim that it is Retail specific, but we have quite a few retail customers who have adopted Control 2007 and also several supply chain optimization projects which we have delivered.
If this is of interest - we provide a web hosted demonstration environment where you can explore the APQC process content I mentioned above. You can contact me through [SAP EcoHub|https://ecohub.sdn.sap.com/irj/ecohub/solutions/control2007] for more details

  • In process Inspection and Rework Qty Issue

    Hi,
There is Production Order for 100 qty.  There are 5 in process operations like 0010 Cutting, 0020 Welding, 0030 Inspection, 0040 turning, and 0050 Inspection
(1)0010 operation is finished by production for 50 qty and confirmed through co11n by entering yield as 50 qty.
(2)0020 operation is finished by production for 50 qty and confirmed through co11n by entering yield as 50 qty.
(3)0030 operation: Quality inspected and entered results as 25 as yield and 25 as rework. For defects Q3 notification is
triggered.( ie CO11N transaction is called in QM)
(4)Production opened rework order CO07 and confirmed the rework operation and booked material and labor cost on cost
         center instead of orginal order.
(5)0040: Operation production could confirm only 25 qty as earlier 0030 operation of inspection  yield was only 25 qty.
(6)Inspection already in 0030 operation 25 qty  was entered as rework. Now after rework how results recording will be done
and qty will be posted in yield. Unless yield is entered under 0030 operation for 25 qty , production cannot confirm the 0040
         operation for pending 25qty.
(7)Business requirement is what ever the qty production manufactures it has to be entered in system. Based on quality
inspection incentive will be paid to only qty which is passed by quality.
    Settings Made:
(a)100 Free Inspection, No Qty Relation, Quantity Valuation and Confirmation in Production for only inspection work center
         without any cost capturing.
(b)Confirmation parameters settings with error for over and under delivery tolerance, error if inspection sequence not adhered,
error message if no inspection results exists
Any suggestion or any other way of handling this requirement.
    Thanks & Regards,
    RSR

    Hi RSR,
Your way of mapping is absolutely fine, few points to be clear...
03 inpection type and enable inspection characterisitics for operation 030
04 inspeciton type to be enabled and operation 050 shall be eliminated if possible, material stock posting will be done from 04 inspection lot for 25 nos.
let me know if you have questions..
    regards,

  • Quality inspection for the Operation

    Hi Gurus,
I have multiple operation routing here which is having operation 010, 020,030 ,040 ,050 .
client requirement is that they want to have the quality check at each operation .
usage decision at each operation but result recording at the specific operation like 040
How can i achieve it .

    Hi
    1. You have to use the inspection type 03 ( In-process inspection)
    2. It is possible for results recording at a specific operation. You have to assign the MIC in the particular operation for which you want to do results recording.
    3. Giving usage decision for each operation is not possible in Standard SAP. Because only one inspection lot will be generated for an order, in the same lot  you have to do the results recording by selecting the required operation. But usage decision is possible for the whole inspection lot only not for each operation.

  • Inspection for second operation

    hi all
i have maintain inspection orgin 03 & 04 for sfg material in material master also in routing i have assign control key having inspection check box on for the 03 line item (0010,0020,0030).
my first operation shows perfect inspection lot after production order release. but when i go for the second operation it does not works and it show no inspection characterstics maintain for the operation, though i assign inspection characteristics to the operations.

    Dear.
    In mm02, choose qm view.
Choose QM proc then click inspn setup tab.
04 for final inspn (after prodn)
03 for roh. & click active.
    2. QS21 create MIC
    3. In the routing choose first operation & choose inspn characteristics & choose eg.Legth & then sample as (eg) fixed sample. Go for second operation do the same tining.
    4) For final insp create quality plan in OP01.
Then when you realse order then system will create one insp lot for inporocess in that you will get two operation and go ahead.
    Hope clear to you.

  • Standard costing in Process order for external operation

    Hi SAP - PP gurus,
Need your expert suggestion on the current scenario. We are having a sequence of operations in a process order. One specific operation is used to trigger subcontracting activity for completion of some services.
while calculating the total planned & actual costs & variance costs for the process order as a whole , we are not getting the desired results.
The  planned cost is not getting calculated or variance is not populated correctly. what might be the problem or is there any alternate solution to approaching this scenario.

I do not have an 'expert' response for you - but I can share my experience and maybe both of us will learn the 'truth' before too long.
In the external processing - indicator in the control key for a phase/operation in a recipe - when it is set, the system requires that either a Purchasing Information Record or an Outline Agreement # and Outline Agreement line item # be entered. If I enter a PIR, the data from the PIR is loaded into the external op fully. This results in a proper cost roll-up and proper processing.
If I use an Outline Agreement + Item # - the system expects me to copy all this detailed information into the remaining General Data fields (that were populated automatically when I used the PIR). I don't have to enter anything except the OA + Item numbers. But if I do not enter a price - then I, like you, get less than acceptable pricing because this operation is NOT priced (I do get a warning - this leads me to believe that SAP will not be populating these fields - the warning is to remind ME to do it --- I want the system to do it since I am specifying the OA + item numbers).
I have searched help and now have posted an OSS note for the answer to this: The PIR does what I want (it has to be created prior to application of course), but because External processing is merely a service and can't be specified by Material # and it only works per Material Group # - then I only have the chance to enter one price per Material Group - and that is insufficient in my situation (I have about 50 materials per each group and each item can have a different price). So I have to use OAs - and not having them able to trigger auto copying into the external op phase - this causes a lot of extra work and risk of data inaccuracy (mis-keying the price, etc.). There does not seem to be a fix - so I think the manual application in the ext op will be your recourse.
Let me know if you have learned more.

  • Production order should be confirmed before in-process inspection UD

    We guys,
I have activated the In-process inspection for one Finished goods and inspection lot is getting created when Production order released. This production order can be confirmed without UD for In-process inspection lot.
Please let know How can I control that Production order should not be able confirm before UD of Inspection lot for in-process inspection.
When production order released it means an production has just starded. Then What is the meaning in getting the inspection lot created on release of production. I think it is supposed to be on completion of each opration.
    Please give your inputs.
    Thanks
    Dhanu

    Hello
inprocess inspection are used to assisst you to record results , defect , rework, during the production operation. It is defined to get created during the release of the order. It gives QM personnel a control over the quantity confirmation. You can do the result recording based on time and quantity.
Operation confirmation and UD are independent and it will not be possible to do confirmation once you do the UD.
The controls that can be brought in 03 inspection for a better usage
    1) Result recording mandatory for all inspection points
    2) QM operation can be confirmed only by QM personnel
    3) At the time of GR of the order check whether UD for the lot is given. Make UD mandatory for GR of the order
    4) Only after QM operation confirmation the next operation can be confirmed
    5) make use of Rework to capture rework cost and First Pass Yield
Hope this gives some picture to you

  • Quality inspection for external opearatio

    Experts
One of my product having one operation in externel
Once it coming back after the externel operation confirmation is happening(here material number is not changing)
In this point i want to create a inspection lot on confirmation
how we can achieve this what is the inspection type we want to give
    Give me a details step
    Faisal

    Hi Friend ,
Procedure for Quality inspection for external operation is :
    1) Assign the operation in routing which is done external processing
    control Key : PP02 ( External processing )
Click on indicator : Insp char. required.
Hence when production order is released for above scenario , double click on the operation and click on create PR.
    Than PO from PR.
material is relaesed for external processing agianst PO .
when material is get external processing and come in through GR . Material goes to quality stock.
after quality ok , its come in unrestricted stock.

  • Rejections during in-process inspections

hi, is any std report available to find what are the produts rejected during in-process inspection,(at which operation) against each prod order? also can we know how many products passed without defect (after in-process insp) during in-process inspection against prod order?

    Dear,
Do the defect  recording at that time craete automatic notification then you will get this report in QM10 and QM11.
    Else use the report  QA33.
