Include JSP very slow
Hi,
On Weblogic 8.1 (Windows 2000) when I include a JSP using standard Tabglib (c.tld), Struts Tiles and classic <jsp:include , each include takes 1,5 or 2 seconds.
The JSP generates java source only one time but each time we access a page the includes of JSP takes 2 seconds.
Sometimes with Struts Tiles we've got a "socket write error" :

What's your experience with OSWorkflow?
Was it worth the learning curve?
Why did you decide for such a Workflow engine?
Why didn't you use just normal programming and maybe something like Spring and Hibernate?
Why did you add OSWorkflow to the mix?
When would you not add OSWorkflow to the mix?

hi there, I was just wondering on this.
I set up tomcat and it is running on a 200Mhz machine with only 64mb of ram, running apache 9.0 (which is a little ram hungry!)
it is running painfully slow, just wondering what the key factor is with jsp is it processor speed? ram? what?

thanksThe first time you access a JSP page via a web browser, Tomcat has to convert your JSP page into a sort of temporary Servlet, compile it into a class file, then "execute" the class file to generate HTTP output.
Subsequent attempts to access that JSP page simply "executes" the existing class file. Tomcat will refrain from recompiling it unless either a) Tomcat has rebooted since the class file was generated, or b) the Tomcat administrator has sent it an explicit instruction to recompile the class.
So yes, the behavior you've described is to be expected; the initial delay is the conversion/compilation of the class. If subsequent connections are fast enough for your taste, then you're ok. A good way to test it is to make a JSP page that accepts a parameter and prints it back out to the user via the web page. When Tomcat gets the request the second time, it will just pass the parameter to the class object.
If you still must do some tweaking - such as precompiling aka "preloading" classes when the server is booted, check out the Tomcat documentation at the Jakarta site. -
Email Forwarding including Attachments very slow

whenever I want to forward an email with an attachment it asks me if I want to include the attachment. If I choose "Include", it takes the iPad forever to generate the email until I can start typing and send the email out
Any hints, tips or suggestions on how to speed up this process?
I am using the following device: iPad 3rd Generation as well as iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1 installed.

MikeUpdate: After two weeks of scratching my head trying to find any local settings (computer or router) that were specific enough and after really not doing anything at all, normal service resumed suddenly. I have now had a good short week without any disruption or speed issues. The problem that was is still a mystery, though.

Peter S.1. Are the database parameters the same on each of the systems (ie. LARGE_POOL_SIZE)? You may want to check on any potential bottlenecks during the restore by looking in V$BACKUP_SYNC_IO and V$BACKUP_ASYNC_IO.
2. You can limit the amount of datafiles included in a backup set by setting the MAXSETSIZE parameter. Be careful not to set this value too low. If a datafile is bigger than MAXSETSIZE, then the backup will fail. -

I am working with an Application Server and a Database Oracle 10g. In the JSP's I have a problem with the queries, there are some queries that work very slow, it is not logical for me, because the same query executed in Toad or SQLPlus works very fast.
For example this query:
SELECT MAX(COL1) FROM MYTABLE WHERE COL2 = +PARAMETER
it is very slow in JSP, I have try to do a stored function that returns the result of this query, but it's also is slow:
SELECT MY_FUNCTION FROM DUAL
I haven't a lot of experience with JSP. Please, can someone help me?

What does 'include render files' option mean for when I duplicate a project. I deselected it and the duplicated file is very slow so maybe this has affected it. It's a shame cause original project is deleted. Have I lost the rendered files? Thanks
Yes, if you duplicate without the render files and delete the original project you lose the render files. But render files get recreated - automatically if you have it set in the preferences (which is the default option). It just takes time.

I took my Early 2011 MacBook Pro into the local apple store and they ran their GPU test, and my Mac actually passed it. Today when I am able to boot up my mac it loads very slow (showing a beachball during start up) and then the window we get when pressing Command R shows up asking me to press enter for English, and then after that it shows options like Disk Utility, Restore from Time Machine backup, Reinstall OS X, and Get online help options...
I erased my drive (Crucial SSD) and restored from Time Machine backup, and I am still having this issue... Please help.Kappy hi, thanks again. My MAC runs very slow. Rainbow wheel every time i try to go somewhere. Im a complete MAC novice. Only really use it for iTunes and email. the odd document here and there. The odd spreadsheet. Was brought up on a PC. I would imagine my system is in mess. I think i downloaded that Mackeeper which i have just discovered was not a good idea. I found a thread about EtreCheck and it suggested i posted the report of my machine which i have done.I only have 2GB of space. Not sure how much i have left. My wife keeps putting photos on here like they are going out of fashion. Bought the machine in 2008 because everybody said you have a MAC. I've never really got to grips with it but at least it worked. Now it does not run very well at all. That spinning wheel is driving me mad. HELP please, never ever used a forum light this either so please go gentle on me. Cheers Paul

680 KB Page-outs1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

I got a turtle in my MacBook, and he's very slow.
I had posted about my iMac & MacBook being very slow when using Safari, in the iMac Intel forums, and I got an answer about iMac, they said I need to upgrade Ram, but would say anything about the MacBook Pro and said to post here. So, here it goes:
Hello all, I need some help with my apple products. I spend half my day messing with the internet to try and get it going instead of sitting there with a blank look on its face. They freeze up to an extent. I generally can always close out Safari, shut off the wifi, then turn wifi on and safari will work somewhat better sometimes. Problem description:
Ever since I moved into this new house my apple computers have slowed down to granny speed and sometimes they just sit there and stare at you. I have an iMac from 2011, a mac book pro 2014, iPhone 6, iPhone 4s, and to top it off a windows computer that is used for graphic software. I have 2 TV’s that we use as well. My internet and cable are provided by ATT and at my old house it worked great, no problems. I have had ATT out twice since install in January. They have given me a new modem, and a booster to help increase the reach of the wireless internet. My internet is supposed to be 18mbs download and for the life of me can’t think of the upload speed. When testing I usually have a 10 to 11 download and a 1.80 upload speed. I have ran verify disk, fix permissions so many times and that it is ridiculous. My iMac is used in the back room which is about 30 feet from modem, that is why they gave me the booster the 2nd time out. The macbook is used just whereever. The speed of the Mac’s is slower then the Windows computer. That ain’t right. I don’t download anything, I don’t go to crazy suspect sites. I have taken the iMac to apple store and they tested it and said it was fine. I have re-installed the O.S. (Yosimiteme 10.10.3). I just want my apples to work properly again.

MBP working very slow, rarely displays working wheel
Hi guys,
My MBP is working very slow.
I have taken off AVG, and in my user account I've stopped Soundflower from launching automatically. This seemed to help for a few days, then it's back to dragging.
I used Etre; but don't know the items mean...

1.59 GB Page-outs1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press thereturn key.
9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press returnthree times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

I am having a problem with Lightroom 5 being very slow, utilizing 100% CPU, then freezing or closing the program. How do I fix it?
I just upgraded to LR5 from LR3 on Sunday as well as CS6 from CS5 (which I have not tried out yet). I spent several hours talking with Vamil, from LR Support Staff yesterday. He was extremely helpful and kind and tried everything he could think of while remote-handling my PC and talking with me on the phone. He deleted preferences, cache, temp files, updated graphics with a new replacement file from AMD site, then re-downloaded and reinstalled LR5.
It is still very slow and then freezes and closes down with a message of utilizing 100% CPU. Within several seconds of using the brush in Develop, I started having lots of problems. I could not even move the picture around. The side screens would not disappear like they should. And I could not move to another picture. The day before I spent several hours trying to work on just 1 picture. After all the changes yesterday, I tried to move from picture number 1 to about 130 after having not touched it for 10 minutes, and a half hour later, it still said, "Processing" with no picture coming up, just a blank prieview pane.
LR Support suggested I get a new CPU though he thought according to specs mine should be ok and other programs were running fine.
My PC is only 2 years old.
I talked to HP briefly about CPU updates for my HP PC. He said I probably do not have a problem but suggested I run self-diagnostics and maybe buy a new CPU anyway.
I ran diagnostics listed through the HP Support Assistant connection on my PC. All was ok.
I still researched if I could buy a compatible CPU upgrade. I cannot even find any CPUs still selling that are listed for my PC. Best Buy Store said they could not even order a compatible CPU. They said my Bus speed may not be big enough, so they suggest I get a new PC. What Bus speed do I need?

I am thinking of buying a new monitor tonight mostly so I can do better photo work while enlarging the pictures to do it. I am concerned that while it will help my viewing, it will take more power away, and make my usage of LR5 even worse. Will a new monitor affect my performance? I am looking at HP Monitors with IPS. Is this the best recommended choice for LR and Photoshop CS6?
I think I would like to stay with a 6 core processor since I need to have several items open for other non-Photoshop functions. When running LR5, I had everything else closed. With LR3, I was able to have other things open.
I do not really want to buy a new computer and know that those I have talked with at this point are only guessing after looking for what they thought should fix it. 4 People from Lightroom Support have all thought I should not be having problems with my setup.
I bought one of the best computers 2 years ago. Is it really obsolete already so that I cannot use LR5? Is everyone else buying a new PC every 2 years? I used to go 5-7 years.
Even though I have figured out some of what my PC has, I really do not know technically what I am talking about so am at the mercy of other's help. Are there any solutions that might work short of buying a new computer?
I also have taken 40th anniversary photos for some people and am waiting to give them as a free gift since I am not a professional at all. I am hoping to get through this problem soon so that I can provide some nice memories for them.
I have not gotten any further than trying to adjust 1 picture. I have no comments on uploading speed, since I did that while still in LR3.
Thank you for your time and help.I'm running LR with no speed issues on an Intel 17-860 quad core with about the same performance as your AMD Phenom II X6 1045T Processor. My system is also an HP, which originally had a single 1TB 7200 HDD. I've since added a second 2TB Black Caviar HDD, which provided no significant difference in LR's performance.
AMD processors do not implement hyper-threading and don't need it. I'd start debug by process of elimination:
1) Disconnect all externally attached USB, FireWire, or other externally connected devices except keyboard, mouse, and your single 1280 x1024 display. This includes all externally attached memory card readers, phones, ipads, etc.
2) Reboot and logon as Administrator.
3) Remove your Internet connection and turn off all Antivirus and firewall programs.
4) Open LR and under Catalog Settings set 'Standard Preview Size' to 1440 (slightly larger than your display width). Under the Metadata tab here make sure 'Automatically Write changes into XMP is NOT checked.
4) Create a 'New Catalog,' Create a new folder and add about 10 raw image file copies to it for testing, and Import it into the new catalog. In the Import module make sure under File Handling 'Render Previews' has 1:1 selected. Wait until all Preview building has completed in the Library module.
Try editing these image files inside the new catalog as you were previously. -
iMac 27" 2009 intel core 4 gigs of ram, 1tb HD, Current operating system. 2 user accounts, myself, my fiancee's. Each with iPhones so each setup to utilize iCloud. I have disabled 3rd party plug-ins once with only short-term effects. There are other issues with the computers performance and I have spoken to apple support regarding them multiple times. Some include iCloud not syncing properly to the iMac (though it does to phone and online), Finder windows getting "lost" between "digital desktops". Desktop image not syncing across all "digital desktops". iTunes often has issues with syncing with and playing from my iTunesMatch account.
Safari's issues include it not loading any images on a website, when trying to load a new page by typing a search in the the url it won't even begin to load a page, sometimes it is very slow to load a page, a lot of time it will spend 5+ minutes "attempting" or not even visually attempting to load a webpage without warning the page can't be found, and then of course there are the "page can't be found" warnings as well.

TaskQueryService Performance is very Slow

I am using TaskQueryService to query task from BPM workList app.
The performance of the app is very slow.
For retrieving 200 tasks from the WorkList App it is consuming around 5 seconds, which is very slow.
For the above i had removed payload and requesting for only basic info as shown in the code.
I am using Remote Ejb's for the invocation.
For getting the IWorkFlowContext it is taking negligible time, which includes authentication.
In the below code snippet i am invoking the querytask() multiple times so that the time used to create ITaskQueryService is negated. I am only looking at the performance after the first invocation. The subsequent invocations are better by .5 secs which is the time taken to create ITaskQueryService .

How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts? -
XMLHttpRequest performance is very slow
I'm noticing that the performance of XMLHttpRequest is very slow. I was seeing poor overall request performance in my Extension, so I wrote a simple test Extension that issues a GET request to fetch an image available on the Adobe homepage. This request takes 6-7 seconds to execute. If I issue the same request from the Chrome browser on my machine, it only takes around 300ms. This behavior is consistently repeatable - requests using the Extension's XMLHttpRequest library always seem to take at least 6-7 seconds to execute. Interestingly, if I use the Node.js http library to issue the request from within my Extension, the performance is comparable to the browser (around 300-400ms).
Has anyone else noticed this slow performance of XMLHttpRequest? Can anything be done about it? I can provide some example code if that would be of any use.
I am running these tests with Illustrator CC 2014 on a Win 7 x64 box.Thanks for the response. Just to clarify - are you saying that your extension is/contains an ExpressJS app, or that it acts as a client to one? In either case, I think this means that any http requests issued from the extension would use the Node.js http module (either directly or via a wrapper/higher-level module). Is that correct? If so, that matches with what I saw - http requests using the Node http module performed just fine.
I only had problems (slowness) when I instead tried to issue requests using the "browser native" XMLHttpRequest library that's included in the CEP. My extension needs to re-use some code that is written to use the XHR library, so it is non-trivial to switch everything over to using the Node http module. That said, we're still looking into it.
