Includes or Content Holders?

With the new liquid rendering engine we can do includes. For example I can do this following: {%include"/_System/includes/html.tpl"%}. I could also use the following code: {module_contentholder, name="html"} and pull in the same content into the page.
My question is this:
Is there any reason to use includes over content holders or use content holders over includes?
Note: I read where someone said includes do not work in ICE editor. I am not worried about that as the sites I will be using the includes on do not use the ICE editor.

Includes right now are just in and do not render modules etc yet. Hopefully soon.
But they are here because Developers and clients sharing the same snippet system for two opposites has and does cause many problems.
- For a client they will have these created for them by their partner/developer to hold content they can go in and edit for a variety of things across a site.
- A developer uses those same content holders for regions of markup in their layouts - Headers, Footers, Sidebars and so on.
These should always be separate.
Most things will break with all this modern stuff with ICE. There is a V4 in the works - VERY EARLY but Alexandru did a bit of a demo at the unconference.

BC.Next Caching With Content Holders and Includes

I noticed that the BC.Next caching on scripts, css and images doesn't appear to work with content holders and includes. I assume that is just something that still needs to be worked on?

Hi Liam,
Static content covers images, styles and scripts from pages and templates. Blogs are not supported at this point. We'll follow-up on that as we will be adding a method to cache some content from modules as well. But for now, pages and templates represent a huge chuck of the BC content and we wanted to start with that first.

Formatting Content Holders

I've attempted to use content holders with Muse. The HTML code is clean. Styles have been set in Muse. Formatting is cleared. ?? Is there a way around this? I would like to use the content one for DT, Tablet and Phone.

Spry accordion widget - SSI (server side include) as content in the panel

After having inserted the following command <!--# include file = "content2.asp" -> in the accordion Panel Content I get an error in Dreamweaver - every time I open the file. See the error in the attached picture.
Once all files are uploaded to the server it works apparently without problems or script errors.
Is there anyone who can help me to use SSI "server side include" as content in accordion panels?

The fault lay in the SSI file. This file contained these tag:
</ html>
And of course the tag </ html> generate an error if the tag is inserted in the content of the accordion panel via ssi file.

Swap images in content holders

How does one go about swapping out a default image within in the content holder for header?
I actually downloaded the default '[email protected]' from the preview site, and replaced their image with my own logo in Photoshop, being careful to keep the same size, format, and name, only to be unable to find the respective images folder anywhere on the site to replace the original logo with my replacement logo (I went through all the file via ftp and NO 'img' or 'images' directory was to be found).
In being so stingy with the so-called site integrity, the designers have made it difficult (next to impossible) to customize their web site, so doesn't that defeat the purpose of Business Catalyst?
I have forgotten the name of the BC site I imported for this, latest (and probably LAST) attempt to work with BC to come up with a site I can actually use, but it had to do with students, and used a large black div for the header - it's the 'cultivate' logo that I am trying to replace with my own logo.

shows you where all the code, css and images are stored.

SharePoint 2013 - CQWP include child content types issue

Hello SharePoint enthousiastes,
I'm experimenting a weird issue with the content query webpart in SharePoint 2013.
In the query part of the webpart settings, in the Content type section, I want to untick the "Include child content types" option >
Content Type:
Show items of this content type group:
Show items of this content type:
Include child content types
The checkbox stays ticked even if I click on apply or ok to validate the setting.
Is it a bug? What am I missing?
It always worked directly in the previous version of SharePoint (2007/2010) so I don't understand why is it not working directly with 2013.

I could not reproduce this issue, I can untick the option "Include child content types" for Content Query Webpart in my SharePoint 2013.
Please try using SharePoint Farm account(system account) to create a page and add a content query webpart, and test if this issue still occurs, also try with SharePoint Administrator account.
And my SharePoint 2013 has been installed with
April 2013 CU, you can install it or the latest CU and test again.

Include Server Content in Test object

We are currently including server content in Learning objects, which works very well. It is an HTML file which runs a simulation.
I would like to know what is the best way to include this as a test. I would like to create a test, which has the HTML simulation, and test questions from the question bank. Is this possible? and if not, what is the work-around?

Hi Bernard
No, what I meant by grouping the learning objects together was having a structure for them under the content folder.
When you define online learning material in OLM, you define a learning object in a content folder. These learning objects simply point to where the online material is executed from. The folders allow a hierarchical structure, so you can create one object as a 'parent' and then place other objects as 'children' beneath it.
If you create an offering using the 'parent' learning object, then the 'child' learning objects will all be executed in the sequence they are defined under the 'parent'. This allows you to have content A (an online demo) followed by a test and then maybe followed by another online module and test etc. The learner is effectively taking the 'parent' learning object and therefore the class will not be recorded as completed until all the subordinate learning objects have been completed.
I hope that clarifies the idea and that it will help you solve your problem.

Template bumping head content holders to body

I am trying to place content holders for scripts, queries and meta tags in the head of the template, but after I've saved the template, it bumps them to the body. What am I doing wrong or what should I be doing differently?

Do Not use the wysiwyg editor. You need to use a text editor - notepad++ , dreamweaver etc. Then FTP the file/template to your site. You can also use the "develop" tab if you have access to it.

Content Holders Not Allowing Text Styling

I'm new to B.C. and am really enjoying the new services I can use. I published my design from Muse to BC and enabled content editing within B.C. however text was not editible within "Site Editor". Support said that this may be because of the way my html conflicted with B.C. so I decided to use content holders. This addresses my needs for the most part however when I publish the site to B.C. many of the text stylings don't display in the live view (though they do display in the design view). The font type, color seem to work however bullets, indents bold talic and a few others do not.
My html isn't exotic at all however I thought this might be the problem. So, just for an experiment I tried a new content holder with just one word that was bolded and sure enough that didn't render as bold either.
Am I missing something or is this a bug?

I just used the visual editor so i suppose its inline styles. I also tried a simple bold tag on a single word and even that did not work

Content Holders - Limit?

I do not remember, is there a limit to the number of content holders that can be used on a page?

Replicating site with content holders

Not sure if this is related to the latest system update, but I just attempted to replicate an existing site and the content holders are completely empty (on the replicated site, that is). I replicated from a paid-for site, and it is a WebMarketing package.

Can UCCX 10 / CUIC Provide Historical Reports That Include Email Content?

Can UCCX 10 / CUIC provide historical reports that include email content?
Currently I can only see email subject within historical reports, but on supervisor real time you can see email content.
Our customer wants to be able to report historically on email content, as its used for reviews etc.

Having looked at the DB schema I see that only the to/from/subject fields are logged in the database. That's all the would be available to CUIC.

That's not to say it's completely impossible - but it would be very complicated. You'd need to somehow extrac the content of the emails on the Exchange server into a database where it could be read in to CUIC. That could be very difficult, take up lots of space...

Web apps and content holders after upload

I purchased the uguru photography template from business catalyst into which I have inserted my own content worked on in dreamweaver and tested on my trail site. I transfered the whole of the new version successfully to my live site at http://www.misskikisalon.co.uk/. Have checked all files and everything is successfully there. The problem is that none of the web apps and content holders are now working and the interface tells me there are no web apps on the site although all the files have uploaded. The html pages say 'No Items Found' where the web apps should be working and the content holders should be - on product pages it says no product found or item out of stock. Please can you help?
Also on the trial site interface under site manager there are 12 items and under web apps all the associated web apps for the template whereas in my live site in site manager there are 2 items listed under site manager - web forms and system emails and no apps - why the difference?

I purchased the template which places it in the trial site worked on it locally using dreamweaver and then sftp site from dreamweaver to live site.
How can I then use the template from the trial site and the version I have developed in dreamweaver and make this live on my live site. I want my currently live site to use this template and all the development I work since purchasing the template.

Yes. I can create a list with the template using the UI. I can also create list programmatically using the Microsoft.SharePoint library within a Windows Forms Application. If I do create a provider-hosted app referencing Microsoft.SharePoint,
it results in a 64bit / 32bit mismatch error. I am running SharePoint 2013 on a 64 bit Windows 2012 Server.
The problem is that with a provider-hosted SharePoint App, I am limited to only using the Microsoft.SharePoint.Client library which is very limited.

Include the Content Released status flag in default WC data control

Hi,
We have integrated custom webcenter portal application with UCM for documents integration. The integration was done using default data control.When we change the document which is getting displayed in the portal from UCM and check it into the system, wokflow gets triggered properly and the content status shows review status. But when we access the document in the portal, at that point of time new document is visible even though the content is still not released from the system.
Can anyone of you let me know how to include the released status of the content in the default data control so that we can avoid this situation

First of all, I think this is more a question to WebCenter Portal, because it is how WebCenter Portal components are written.
Another thing is, that this is probably 'works as designed' and there might be good reasons for that. Since PS3, WebCenter (Portal) exposes some of UCM's functionality, among them ability to approve items in a workflow. This is the reason why it makes a good sense that items are available. Of course, they should be available only to approvers; also unapproved items should not appear if an item is displayed via Content Presenter (compare to a document published on a website via WCM). If you found such a behaviour, please, report it to MetaLink as it might be a bug.
