Including custom fonts in installer packages...

Sup Gents,
Is it possible to include downloaded custom fonts in an installer package..? I'm aware other files like text files can be included but unsure how to include a font file (.ttf) files...
Good weekend to all...
Strokes

Strokes,
In relation to your first post asking how to include a custom font in an installer.
Add the .ttf (font file) to your project, under your project explorer: My Computer (right click) >> Add >> file >> .ttf (font file)
You will need to write a .bat file that will copy the .ttf (font file) from your installation destination to C:\Windows\Fonts\
Here's how you add the font installation to your installer
Under your Installer Properties >> Advanced >> Run executable at end of installation (check box) >> select .bat file
This will run the batch file after the installation
I recommend having a read of this:

  • Include SQLite in adobe air installer package

Is it possible to have a SQLite DB included in the air installer package?
I don't want to have the DB created when the application runs, I want to install it when the application installs.
I also want to install it to the All Users>Application Data folder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. Just include the database file in the application package.
There is no way to instruct the installer to put it into a special destination directory. Your app will have to check for the db file's existence and copy it to the right place if it is not there.

  • How to include a font in the installer?

    Hi all!
My program uses a custom font (namely popular NI7seg font) that I would like to include in my installation distribution.
I am using LabView 8.5 and I have tried force the installer (normally through the options window) to copy the font into [WindowsFolder]\Fonts folder and to add a registry key.
After installation I have noticed that the font actually is added into the registry however it has not be copied to the fonts directory.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Michal
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Michal,
At first, you should add the font file to LabVIEW project.
Then create a Source Distribution from build specification. In the source distribution setting, you can specify where to distribute the font file.
When you build your installation, you add the source distribution as source file to installer.
I'm not sure if you can skip step 2 to add the font file as source file to installer, but source distribution could work correctly.

  • The product archive is invalid. The installer package may not include paths

I try again here, since we got no further and this message is becoming a show-stopper for us.
We have a simple app-file and build a package from this with Productbuilder only using
productbuild --component 'INtex Fahrtenbuch AS.app' --sign '3rd Party Mac Developer Installer: INtex Publishing GmbH & Co. KG' 'InstallationINtexFahrtenbuchAS.pkg'
Furthermore we checked for extended attributes everywhere with
    ls -lad@ *
    and removed any with
    xattr -d -r com.apple.FinderInfo *
    xattr -d -r com.apple.ResourceFork *
Packaging with Product Builder went fine and installation test with sudo was no problem.
Still we can´t upload our installer to iTunes connect. Message is once again but this time only:
The product archive is invalid. The installer package may not include paths outside of a bundle.
What can we do about that ? There is no path outside the bundle ...

Welcome to Apple Discussions, Mr. GraphicConverter
The standard suggestion is to clean and rebuild. There were a number of such posts on the paid Developer Forums a few weeks ago, but nothing since.

  • Removing the msm from installation package

In my software i include the msm in the installation package.  However one of my customers has the software sent over a VPN connection to him and with the latest version of Crystal the msm is now enormous.  Is it possible to take the msm out of the installation package and have it installed seperately so that i don't have to send the msm across a slow VPN connection every time?

    Hi;
You could have the customer install your program, and then download our MSI and install it themselves to get the Crystal runtime files. You do not say which version you are using, but the MSI files can be found here:

  • Custom fonts on iOS app using AIR 3.9

we are building an app for iOS using AIR 3.9 where we have to display the text using different fonts which are not available on iOS 5 or later. To fix this issue we have found a solution using XCode via ANE where by using "CTFontManagerRegisterGraphicsFont" class we can download the font from a location and register it on the device(working on mac using simulator ).  But when we are packaging the ANE with AIR 3.9, it gives us the error which says that:-
Error occurred while packaging the application:
    Undefined symbols for architecture armv7:
      "_CTFontManagerRegisterGraphicsFont", referenced from:
          ___setPath_block_invoke in libnet.example.download.a(IOSFontLib.o)
ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture armv7
Compilation failed while executing : ld64
can anyone suggest where we are going wrong!
    thanks in advance

According to this post, using CTFontManagerRegisterGraphicsFont should still work on iOS too:

  • What is the Optional Installs package on the install DVD?

Can anyone shed some light on the Optional Installs package on the install disc. For example, what does it upgrade in Address Book or what is the optional iPod support?
    Thanks.

Thanks, but my question is not what are the items but what changes would be made to them if you install them from the Optional Install package. The items are: Address Book, iCal, iChat, iTunes, Mail, Oxford Dictionaries, Safari, X11, iPod Support, Additional Fonts, Language Translations and Printer Drivers.
Although some of these also appear in the "Custom" install section of the default package, these are separate and distinct in the Optional Install package. For example, Address Book, iCal, iChat, iTunes, Mail, Safarai and X11 were already installed as part of the default installation. What upgrades would be done by this Optional Install?

    iTunes won't upgrade to10.5. I'm on 10.1.17.
When installing 10.5 it terminates with an error message "There is a problem with the Windows  installer package. Contact the package vendor".
It does not provide an error code or details/description to further troubleshoot. As a result I can't upgrade my Apple devices to leverage the cloud.
Any smarts out there who could help?
Using PC Win-7 w/IE 7 (should that matter)
    Thanks much

I know there's a million threads like this, but I thought I'd record my experience.  I, too, was having the original poster's error when I tried to update iTunes on Windows XP.  I think I was stuck on 10.
I solved it by un-installing iTunes and every other Apple app.  I discovered that Apple Software Update would not un-install as its MSI file could not be found.  I used the "Windows Install Cleanup" tool from Microsoft to remove Apple Software Update from the list of installed programs.  Google "kb290301" for a Microsoft page that includes a download link for it.  After that, I was able to install a fresh copy of iTunes 10.5.2.
I'm not sure why this app's folder and MSI were missing from my computer.  I had once used Laplink PC Mover to move everything from my old computer to this one, and perhaps it missed a bit.

Hi, sorry, first time posting. Ever since updating iTunes (as requested), it seemed to install but ever time I clicked on the icon, it just would not open. After uninstalling all the apple components and rebooting (including folders), I re-installed iTunes+quicktime, I got the following error "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for the install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor".
Please help! Have loads of new CD's from christmas and cannot upload onto my iPod!!
If there is anything else, please let me know! (PS I tried installing as Admin also, still no joy!)

  • I cannot install itunes to my windows 7 computer. I've deleted everthing apple related (in order recommended). I get a message each time that states "There is a problem with this windows installer package. etc.. What should I do?

I've also spent hours on the phone with both apple and windows technical support specialists. This is very clearly not a windows issue. I've given my computer a clean boot, disable my antivirus and firewall, and then attempted to download (yes, from apple's website). I've delete all of the programs (in the necessary order) and then attempted reinstalling with absolutely no luck. I'm starting to think that there's absolutely nothing I will be able to do. I've also never been able to fine "apple software updater or apple software update on my computer, which is particularly odd because I haven't found a post in this community that answers that question. No, "apple software update" cannot be found by accessing the start menu or anything in the "C drive". Apple software update is also never included in the itunes download package that I get from apple's website (the others, such as bonjour, apple application support, and apple mobile support are). No matter what I do, I always get the mesage at the end of the download, "There is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
This may or may not be related to the "apple software update" issue.

Apparently it's an itunes issue. I just tried to update and got the same issue. Called att to activate my iphone 4s and they say they can do the swap but apple is telling them itunes is down atm.  So will have to wait

  • There is a problem with this windows installer package. a program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

I've been seeing this since wednesday. And I tried to get rid of iti via support instrcutions including changing startup settings rum-msconfig etc. and I even uninstalled itunes considering there can be a conflict  or something. Now I cannot even download the old version, and my hands are tied I Cannot sync new songs to my ipod and I coulnd't download any applications to my new iPhonse 4S. I'M using windows XP by the way. none of the support issues solved my problem yet.

Let's try the following user tip with that one:
"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package ..." error messages when installing iTunes for Windows

  • When I install itunes 10.5.3 i get a message " there is a problem encountered with your windows installer package ".... and i can't install it

When I install itunes 10.5.3 i get a message " there is a problem encountered with your windows installer package ".... and i can't install it

Have you completed all windows update including service Pack1?  If not, please complete all the windows update then follow steps below to re-install all over.
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

  • ITunes 7.0.1 does not install--Windows Installer Package Problem

I am trying to upgrade from iTunes 6 to the newest version. I downloaded setup and ran it, and it got a bit through installing iTunes before it said, "There is a problem with the Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I have never had problems installing other programs using Windows Installer. I also never had problems upgrading iTunes until now. There is no info on this specific issue anywhere in the Apple website or on the internet, that I have found. Any ideas?

okay, let's try getting an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing
