InDesign CS6 plug-in not recognized correctly by InDesign

I have been trying to create a simple InDesign CS6 plug-in that writes to a log file as I'm opening & closing InDesign documents. SDK package had the LinkWatcher sample that I've been using as a reference when creating my solution.
Currently the problem is that I'm getting a "Adobe InDesign does not recognize mfindesign.pln as a valid plug-in" when I try to start up InDesign CS6 with the plugin. That isn't too helpful as it doesn't let me know where the problem is and compiling the code with VS2010 gives me no errors currently.
Relevant parts of the code can be found from https://github.com/crnd/MFIndesign/. I've been using CResponder as a base class in my implementation.
Anyone have any good pointers where & how to start looking for the problem? Or even better if someone can already spot the mistake(s) I've made...

This is a typical problem to solve, based on my individual experience on this issue i would recommend the following check points.
Check that your plugin is linking to correct version of libraries.
Check you are using the correct version of SDK
Look for the odfrc command line and see that correct flags are being sent as argument to it. Also that the correct version of odfrc is being used to compile the resources
If possible use the debug version of InDesign, it may give you more detailed error prompt. Like if the plugin you are trying to load is a release version, or the resources are missing.
See if the resources are actually compiled and the resulting folder is placed parallel to your .pln file, like very truly mentioned by Bartek. Pay attention to what the name of this folder should be.
Also makes sure that these resource folders are not empty.

and even the - Optional Plug-ins given by Adobe are not working
I get a panel that says:

Am I doing something wrong?

CS6 Photo Downloader not functioning correctly.

CS6 Photo Downloader locks up when I attempt to download photos. Buttons like browse, settings, get media do function. This worked fine with CS5 Bridge on this machine. The machine is a windows 7 box.
I had CS5 Master Suite side X side installed with CS 6 Master Suite. When I noticed problems with the CS 6 Photo Downloader not working correctly I uninstalled CS5 Master Suite. This did not resolve the issue and I am stuck with lots of photos that are unable to be downloaded using CS6 Photo Downloader.
Any ideas?

Safari plug-ins not recgnized correctly

I play a certain game on the web that requires SUN Java. The java works, but it will not play the sound. The latest plugin (excluding Java 5) was 1.4. My browser keeps saying the current plug-in is 1.3.1. How do I get it to recognize the current plug-in? Is it that, or is my Firewall ( which is disabled) blocking it?

By the way, the game is Runescape (runescape.com)
I've already tried putting thier ports in for firewall, yet it still won't work. I believe it's just not recognizing it.

Logic is recognizing:
- IK Philharmonik Orchestra
- IK Sonik Synth 2
So, any ideas on what could be the problem? I rely heavily on these plugins.. What things could I try to have them work?
The strange thing is that; Rax can see all the plugins and Digital Performer can see all the plugins. But it's Logic and (Garageband) that cannot see any but just those two.

Have you tried opening the AU Validation tool, and re-scanning from there? Often times, that'll fix plug-ins that you know have passed before.
NI's Storm Drum, and Spectrasonics Atmosphere and RMX passed fine over here.
And there is a new 1.6.1 update for RMX available now, specifically for Logic 8 users, that fixes the multi-channel problem.

Boris Plug-Ins not recognized

In my plug-in folder (application support/Final Cut Pro System Support) there are four folders: Text Scrambler.bundle, Title 3D.bundle, Title Crawl.bundle and Vector Shape.bundle. When I open FCP 6.0.5, these 4 plug-ins are not recognized. There isn't even Boris folder in Generator effects. Are they in the wrong folder?

FCP plugins are elegant gray Lego block seen from a corner, they have the FCP logo on one face and FX on another.
On my system those doodads to which you refer are flat pictures of Lego icons with the word EFFECT in the base but that's because they are identified by the OS as After Effects plugins. They're kind of a deep purplish color.
Not sure what could be wrong with your rig but those bundles should have unbundled and installed themselves. You might try control-clikcing on one and telling it to open with FCP, see what happens. Get Info… and you should be able to change all of them to be recognized by FCP6.

I-pod loads but not recognized correctly

My Ipod set-up fine on my home computer but at work it is not properly recognized. When I plug it in, in pulls up in I-tunes as "Single Disk" not the name I gave it. And all my music is listed as "other" data, not as music. How do I get it to read my music and properly recognize my I-pod?

Your iTunes may not be the correct version on your work computer or you may need to re-install it. Since it works fine on your home computer it is unlikely that it's the iPod.

Camera Raw plug-in not recognizing file format.

My partner and I recently purchased new cameras, Canon D6 & Mark III. When I uploaded the new pictures from these cameras, the files didn't load. When I tried to open them in raw I received the error message seen below. Went to the link and was unable to find the appropriate update. Please assist when possible. I currently use CS5.1 & Windows.

The 6D needs ACR 7.3 or newer while the 5D Mark III needs ACR 6.7 or 7.1 or newer.
PS-CS5 can only be updated to ACR 6.x so it might work with the 5D Mark II but not the 6D.
You can use the free DNG Converter 7.3 or newer to create DNGs from the CR2 files that can be read by the older ACR plug-in, or you can upgrade to PS-CS6 or PS-CC. The best deal might be the PS-CC+LR Photography Plan that is $10/month.

Photoshop CS6 Plug-ins not appearing when clicked under extension drop-down menu

I noticed that for some reason, my default extensions that come with photoshop cs6 extended and also custom installed plug-ins won't appear when clicked on. Usually you see a check mark by the plug-in if it is working and is visible on the photoshop layout as a panel. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, which the Kuler extension worked, but only under the workspace that I opened it up for. So for example, I opened it up on Essential workspace, but it wouldn't appear when changed to painting workspace. When I close the panel from the workspace, it won't ever come back up again even when clicked on under the extension drop-down menu on any workspace. This is occuring not just on my desktop, but also on my laptop. Both are not Photoshop CC, but regular Photoshop CS6.
I don't really mess around with the extensions much, but once I found out about the painterswheel plugin, I really wanted to try it out, hence now noticing this extension issue with my plug-in..
All my plug-ins appear on the drop down menu for Windows > Extensions, so it shouldn't be a file placement problem. I have also tried the Adobe troubleshoot for plugins by uninstalling my plug-ins to see if third party plug-ins were the problem, but still my default plug-ins won't even work.

I'm a little confused with what you write. There is a difference between extensions and Plug-ins. Plug-ins are installed using the plug-ins installer and extensions are installed by "Adobe Extension Manager (version)" where version is the Photoshop version and the extension package must be created for that particular Photoshop version. A CS5 package will not work in CS6 etc. Installed extensions will be listed in Photoshop under menu Windows>Extensions>List of them. Plug-in may install in the Filters menu or a place like menu File>Automate>Names. Installed Extensions that you installed should also show in the "Adobe Extension Manager (version)" window. Adobe installed extensions like Kuler and Mini Bridge do not show in the "Adobe Extension Manager (version)" window.

Cs6 raw plugin not recognizing lumix g5 raw files

I just installed cs6 on my computer which is not connected to the internet. The camera raw plugin does not recognize my lumix G5 camera raw files. I tried downloading and installing what i think is the most recent raw plugin, but it still does not recognize the file format. I have installed the dng converter which does recognize these files but that's a clunky work-around. Any ideas on what I should try next?orwhere i can find the most recent raw plugin for cs6?

My monitor is not recognized correctly before I'm logged in.

I have a Dell U24H14 monitor. Connected with a Mini DP to DP port cable.
In preferences I've set the monitors to extends. Not duplicate. This is al working just fine.
BUT:
When I boot my MacBook, with the monitor connected, half way during the boot process, when the monitor is being recognized by OS X, it goes to the standard setting, which is duplicate the screens.
I've tried with other monitors, but they all are on extend at the login screen after boot.
I think that somehow the settings(extend) of the monitor are not loaded before I login. Or the settings only apply to my user account and not to the root user.
I've tried:
- Reset NVRAM
- Reset SMC
- Factory reset Dell Screen
I have to try with HDMI, maby that works, but I do NOT want to use HDMI.
How can I fix this? I really love the screen but it is getting annoying when I boot.
Any help is very appreciated.

You should set the Unattended Execution Account if you don't want to set credentials for data sources.

Vision:M not recognized correctly on deskt

Hi. When I got my Vision:M I installed it on my desktop, and then later on my laptop. I did a firmware update for it on my laptop, and when I plugged it into my desktop it wasn't recognized by any of the usb ports I use. The only usb ports that recognize it are the two usb . ports in the front of my desktop, and they're awfully slow for large transfers.
I tried the instructions on the support section but that did nothing. Any help?

It just started working again. I plugged it in and opened up WMP0, and it showed up as a device. I tested it and transfered a song to it, lightning fast usb 2.0
Strange.. maybe it's because I had to rebuild the library after it froze and I reset it. Oh well, hopefully it stays this way.

Scanner Plug-in not recognized in CS5

I have a Canon CanoScan 8400F scanner. My OS (10.6.5 on iMac) runs at 32 bit and Photoshop CS5 is also set at 32 bit (I upgraded from CS3 to CS5). The plug-in for my scanner is in the Photoshop/Plug-ins/Import-Export folder (as if was under CS3) but is doesn't show up in the Photoshop/File/Import menu as one of my options as it did under CS3. I reinstalled (including the driver) all the other Canon software tools and can use them to scan however I prefer to import my scanning through Photoshop for quick and easy editing (also downloaded the recommended CS5 TWAIN.plugin).
Can anyone tell me why my plug-in is being ignored in CS5? Thanks for your help in advance.

There are literally scores of recent similar threads here.
The TWAIN plug-in is not installed by default anymore. It's more efficient to scan outside of Photoshop.
If you insist, you can install the TWAIN plug-in from the Optional Goodies folder (or whatever it's called) at your own risk. It was taken out of the default installation because many poorly written drivers cause crashes.
Just do a forum search on TWAIN.

Not recognizing correct device

Mac Mini does not recognize my mp3 player. Not in Disc Utility either. Yes it is plugged directly into the computer usb port. instead, the only "new device" that shows up is of all things the Amazon mp3 downloader application, not even a piece of hardware. what now?

Try connecting directly to the computer and not a usb hub.
try a different usb port
try a different usb cable
try letting your mp3 player charge for a full day before connecting to the computer

IPOD Not Recognized Correctly by Windows

3rd generation Nano ... worked fine until upgraded I-tunes to 7.6.1.9 ... now device manager sees IPOD but shows yellow balloon and exclamation point. I-tunes does NOT see the IPOD. Followed instructions in Apple article 305136 to uninstall and re-install USB drives(s) but message balloon pops up asking "please insert Compact Disk labeled Mobile Device Setup Disk into CD:Rom drive (D:) and then click okay" This ain't good. The Ipod works properly otherewise

Thank you very much. I created an Apple Id and forum account just to post in this thread. I have this driver issue almost any time I update my iTunes these days.
I don't know why they find it so hard to write proper software for PCs, but I suspect they just don't put too much money into their QA for their windows line of software in hopes that people will think it's their computers fault not the software vendor.
They could at least provide the drivers as self contained downloads so you don't need to grab an entire software package you most likely already have installed.
