Initializing an ADC

Hi There,
I am trying to do something that is very much simple to do in C, but since I dont have much experience in LABVIEW, I am loosing so many precious hours. Here is what I want to do. I have two sections of the code as the way I wanted. Its just a matter of combining them together.
The ADC in questioin is an AD7490 12 bit ADC. When it is powered up, it needs to go through something called a DUMMY OPERATION.
I managed to get he data that needs to be input during the dummy operation. Here is what I want to do.
The first 2 cycles require the /CS (Chicp Select - active LOW) pin of the ADC to be LOW and then the DATA pin needs to be tied to 1. I managed to do this manually.I also got the second part of the data to work.
The main thing that is bugging me is how I would combine both these codes togetherso that at the end, when the user presses the INITIALIZE button, the initializtion needs to be done. I am attaching my Labview code here.
It would be really good if you could help me out. Im attaching the PDF of the aD7490 as well.
Thanks
Labmat.

To simplify your clock, use the Initialize Array function to create an array of ones and another to create an array of zeros, then interleave them. This will allow you to drive a for-loop using auto-indexing. Nice and clean.

how would one go about and do this clock generation using the initialize array. Correct me if Im wrong. If we have two arrays of 1s and 0s then when we "interleve" them, dont we have to create a delay between the 1st and 0s to represent a digital waveform? the delay would be a 50% duty cycle delay (ON time = OFF time)? Wouldnt the solution with the inverter do the trick?
I have managed to send the data bits on every -ve clock edge. Jamie's solution was to use a state machine - which was exactly what I had in mind. This would mean that without the user pressing the initialize button, on startup of the program, the ADC would go into an initialize mode and then the normal mode.
the solution that I have now (although a bit messy), when viewed through a logic analyzer, shows that it is doing exactly what I want it to do. I have attached the coder here FYI. right now, the program will send a burst of data (2 times) as soon as the CS control is clicked. then from the third time onwards, it will send a data stream with the particular databits ON and OFF (representing the control register of the ADC).
How would we automate this as I explained before?
Thanks,
Kind REgards,
LABMAT

    Hi All,
ADCS Enable user is not getting initiated, when ever OIm user gets enabled. I am assuming, If we enable OIm user, then Oim will enable all resource accounts of that particular users by default. Am I correct? In that case, OIm is not initiating Enable ADCS user adapter, when I enable oim user

  • How do I use the analog input (ADC) to drive a motion profile in MAX

We are trying to use an anolog input signal from a DAQ card to control the motion contol axis.  For now, we want the motor speed to follow a sinusoidal voltage waveform, and later on, we will be using a more complex velocity profile.
In order to accomplish this task, we have searched the user forum, and found information suggesting to operate the servo motor in 'slave' mode under the 'gearing' option.  Therefore, we have set the Gear Master to 'ADC Channel-1', Mode set to 'absolute', Gear ratio 1:1, and provided the sinusoidal voltage (+/- 5V, 3 Hz) to the AIN1 connector on the MID-7654 controller.  When using the 1-D Interacitve 'single axis' control panel, the motor runs at constant speed in one direction only.  It does not react to the sinusoidal speed profile request as we expected.
How do we 'turn on' the 'slave' mode in MAX?  Please talk us through the necessary steps and settings?  Thanks.
    Staffan

    Staffan,
you can configure and enablethe Gearing mode in MAX and it should be activated after saving the settings and initializing the board. In 1D-Interactive you can't use Gearing. For better flexibility I recommend not using MAX for configuring and enbling Gearing. You better should do this in your application.
In fact there is a perfect LabVIEW-example that ships with the NI-Motion driver (Master Analog Input - Slave Axis Gearing.vi)
    I hope this helps,

  • DVI to ADC Adapter problems.... Hopefully

    Hi Everyone.
I recently upgraded to a G5 with the ATI 9600 default card. I have a 19" crt (connected to via VGA/DVI cable) and my 20" Cinema display (ADC - connected via DVI to ADC convertered - brick ($100)).
Until recently everything has been great. Until my Cinema display screen has a reddish/ pinkish tint to it. I am going to guess that it it the DVI converter - have read a few posts here and found similar posts - because the screen does revert back to normal - eventually. I have cleared the pram and unplugged the brick to let it cool down etc. I think it seems to be a overheating problem. Just wondering if anyone else has similar experience with the dvi to adc converter. I would bring it back to the apple store but of course it will probably work by the time I got it there. I did take some snaps with my digital camera as proof - gee should have thought of that earlier.
    thanks

    Hi Paul,
A tinge on the monitor can sometimes be due to a single bad connection. This has been documented in the Flat Panel iMac discussions where a single loose wire (in the neck swivel assembly) caused much the same problem.
The issue is more likely to occur with a DVI to ADC adaptor because you have twice the number of connections, hence twice the chance of a faulty connection. The connection may be sufficient for normal function initially, but, as things heat up, the connection might go faulty (probably due to heat expansion).
If all connections are OK, heat should not be an issue with the DVI to ADC adaptor.
It might be a good idea to check all contacts and connections in the video card port to adaptor to monitor plug sequence for dirt, corrosion or damage/distortion. Once that has been done, make sure that all connections are tight and properly seated.
It would also be a good idea to have a quick look at the video card also, maybe even reseat it, to make sure that all connections are OK there too.
    Cheers!

  • DVI to ADC adapter forcing powerbook to shut down on connection

    Hi there,
I have been using my powerbook 1.25GHz for about 8 months with my DVI to ADC adapter to connect to my 22" cinema display with no troubles whatsoever. Yesterday evening when I came home as soon as connected the adapter to my powerbook- it shut down my powerbook within a couple of seconds. Not only that I was blasted with a 3-5 second low tone from my powerbook as it attempted to restart. At the same time the sleep light (one that purrs softly in sleep mode on the powerbook) flashed in quick succession for the length of time that my powerbook made the the long beep noise.
Following this the computer then makes the usual start up noise but nothing happens on either my powerbook display or the 22" display. I am then required to take out the adapter connection from my powerbook and my computer restarts normally after holding down the start button again.
I have tried a few times now to connect the adapter with the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this or have any idea what the sound being emitted is all about and the disco light display from my powerbook?
Would be grateful for some hints... Thanks!
    1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

The exact same things (low tone, furiously flashing sleep light) has happened to me on several occasions, and it happened again today. I just googled up the symptoms and this is where I landed. The only thing I can correlate among our experiences is that the DVI connection on the powerbook is involved (the problem may or may not have anything to do with the ADC adapter).
For my problem, it's usually occurred after I've either just connected or disconnected a second display using an Apple dvi-->adc powered adapter or a small unpowered dongle (dvi -->vga) for an lcd projector. The restart after either one fails can take quite awhile.
Twice in the past six months, I've been at the "two minute warning" before a presentation, and the book has crapped out just as I connect it to the projector and then it's gone into the psycho light and sound mode you described. Today's failure occurred after unhooking from the powered Apple DVI-->ADC adapter at my desk to go down the hall for a meeting. The computer went into blue screen and stayed there after it was disconnected from the Studio Display and DVI-->ADC adapter. Attempting to hard reset/powerdown by holding down the power button initiated the tone/light flashing.
These few cases may seem pretty isolated, but perhaps a pattern will emerge if people keep adding their experiences.

  • ADC DVI HDMI for external viewing of HD footage

    Hi,
I have an HDTV that I want to use as a second monitor but primarily as an HD monitor for external playback from Final Cut. I need to know if this will work before I go and buy all of these cables.
Can I go out of my ADC with a ADC > DVI then go into the TV with DVI to HDMI? Would that work. Can I bypass the DVI and just find an ADC > HDMI cable? I don't even know if there is such a thing.
    Thanks for the help.

I just posted this on another msg board regarding the topic::
Here is the link to the post too:
    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=7922323#post7922323
I just received my cables in the mail today and set everything up.
    This is what I did:
    Dual Mac G5 2.5 w/ ATI x800XT
    DVI -> Apple Cinema Display
ADC -> Belkin ADC to DVI Monitor Adapter -> Gefen DVI to HDMI Cable
    Going to a Samsung 32" LN-S3251D
I did run into some little issues that I am trying to resolve. For some reason this setup did not initially work because my television would not switch to HDMI input. I don't think it was receiving a signal although in my system preferences it detected both displays. So I put the cinema display on the adc to dvi adapater and the LCD TV directly to the DVI output on the ATI card. This worked but tweaking resolutions and messing with the mirror mode wasn't producing what I wanted.
So while the computer and all the displays were still on, I switched the cables back to the original set up. Works perfect. I have 1 inch of black space running vertically to the left and right of my desktop (on the LCD TV). My cinema display looks the same as before. This is on mirror mode.
The thing I can not figure out, is how the **** can I keep this setup without losing the signal to the tv. If i switch to a different input source on the LCD, I can not get back to the HDMI with the computer showing
I am kinda new to this stuff... Any suggestions?
    Cheers,

  • Using Belkin ADC toDVI cable on older G4

I have a new 23 inch apple display and it works perfect with my Windows laptop. I wanted to use it on a Mac G4 (Green). The video Card did not support DVI so I bought a Belken ADC to DVI cable from the apple store on 5th ave. I plug in and the screen comes on goes through part of the boot up and then goes black and shuts off, Any ideas?
I have tried different monitor configurations and none of them make difference.

    I belivbe it is a ATI 128pro
I am confused becasue it starts up, I get the apple
logo and the little spining icon and then everything
goes black. I was previoulsy using the older 24 inch
display (with ADC connector) and it worked fine.
Graphics cards on Macs run from their ROM code in the initial start-up phase, then, after the OS starts to load, switch to the OS's driver. Some cards behave like yours, some (usually reflashed PC cards with 64K ROMs) stay blank until the OS's driver takes over.

  • Updating ADC register

    Hi There,
From my previous posts, you might know that I am quite regular in this forum. I have managed to solve the problems I encountered with your help. Now Im clueless about what is wrong with my code.
Basically, I am writing a certain data (16 bits long) to an ADC (AD7490) on every -ve clock pulse. But before I write which analog address to choose from, I need to write a dummy cycle to the ADC to set it up properly. this is followed by writing setup data which has the required channel to be selected. I managed to do both of it and I can read the data from the ADC.
But this is only happening once. what I mean is that after I write the particular address of the analog source at the time of SETUP, the ADC is not outputing the correct data when I write another address to it in the same manner as I wrote the initial address. I even scoped the DAQmx pins and saw that the data is written on the correct clock edge and LOAD signals.
why could this be happening? If I write the new address to the initialization case, the ADC will output data from  the new address. but I cannot update the readings from another one if I want to.
can you help me out here please.
I am uploading my code here for your info.
    thanks

  • ADCS - ROOT CA domain member ?

    Hello,
I have installed a RootCA(Standalone) and SubCA(Enterprise) in my company and all its working well.
But, I just see that is not recommended to have ROOTCA as domain member. How can I do to fix that ?
(Is it a real problem ?)

First of all, it is kind of unfortunate that you went through this exercise
as it really wasn't necessary. Given the fact that you'd initially
installed your root as a Standalone root, you could have simply followed
one of the migration guides whereby you simply back up all of the AD CS
related stuff (database, logs, private key, registry templates published at
the CA), remove the AD CS role, remove the computer from the domain,
reinstall and configure the role using the same certificate and private,
restore the database and everything else.
But I was unable to do step 5 : part 3 and 4 and the command line *ldifde -r "cn=<var>CACommonName</var>"*(off course  I put my CACommonName and my AD configuration).
We can't help you with this unless you're more specific. What was the exact
command line you used? What error or errors were reported when you ran the
    commands?
And I have not done step 9, I was scared. Can "certutil -dcinfo deleteBad"cause trouble ? Do I need to do it on all my DC ?
No, it won't cause trouble and needs to be done. If you don't do this you
will have trouble as your DCs won't get certificates from your new PKI as
long as their existing certificates are still time valid. You do not need
to run it on all your DCs, in fact, it doesn't need to be run on a DC at
all, it just needs to be run on a domain joined computer.

    > 3. DSfW2$ is frd machine ? What is the name of your ADC box ?
DSFW2$ is the FRD (PDC). DSFW1$ and DSFW3$ (shows the same behaviour)
are ADCs. The domain was initially installed with OES2SP1 and has been
upgraded since then. The last big move was end of February to OES11 and
everything was running fine since then.

  • Does iTunes have a default password for initial encrypted backups?

I have an iPhone that was connected to iTunes for the first time today.  It is a company device and IT has set a policy to require backups to be encrypted.
When I first plugged the phone in, iTunes automatically did a backup as it had never seen the device before.  Due to a software issue, Apple recommended that I do a restore to factory settings and then restore from backup, so once the initial backup was completed, I performed the restore to factory just fine.  However, when I attempted to restore from backup, I was prompted for a password even though I was never prompted for a password when iTunes created the backup.  I have tried every password I can think of including my company domain password, iTunes password, iPhone passcode, etc...etc...to no avail.
Does anyone know if there is some default password that iTunes using when doing an initial backup without prompting the user for a password?

  • DVI to ADC adapter doesn't work

    Greetings folks,
I have an Apple DVI to ADC adapter going to a Formac 17" ADC display or alternatively an Apple 17" LCD ADC display. The displays do not function with either my MacBook Pro or my MacBook. I can't figure out which the Macs are having a problem with, the displays or the adapter. It all works fine with my PowerBook G4 and both of my PowerMac G4's. Also, regular DVI and VGA displays work fine with the MacBook Pro and the MacBook.
I have talked with tech support and they have not been able to find a solution. I will bring the adapter to my Apple store to see if they can determine the problem.

Okay, here's an update: the DVI to ADC adapter does work with the Apple displays that I have tried, but it won't work with the Formac. I have tried multiple time to contact them, but to no avail... they don't even respond to threats of posting my opinion of them, which is this:
DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM FORMAC! They make quality products, but their customer service is a big time joke! They won't take care of you.

    Hi Nambi.N
To upload the initial stock / update RG23D during initial stoc we need to use the same t-code j1ig or we can develope a BDC for the particular t-code.thats the practice we are following.

  • HT3529 My wife and I both have an iphone.   We initially created it under her apple id.   We will receive each others text messages from certain people not all.   Any ideas why and what we can do to stop it

My wife and I both have an iphone.  We initially set them up under one apple id account.  When we text sometimes we will receive each others text messages from others.   Example I will text a friend...she will not see my text but the reply comes to both of us.  It seems to be random which ones.  Any ideas how to correct this

    Yup, get your own AppleID.
The messages that are being sent to both phones are technically not text, they are Apple's iMessage. They use the data part, not the texting part. So if you have an iPad or a Mac computer, you can send/receive the iMessages there too.
