Inspection characteristics transfer to Shop floor system

Hi,
We are using a third party shop floor system with terminals in each workcenter/stations in Production line. How do we transfer the Production order inspection characteristics to these terminals, do the results recording at the terminals and send the results back to SAP inspection lots.
Thanks
Thomas

This capability is standard SAP via PP-PI and PI sheets.  You have several options.  This does require software on the process control side to 'talk' with SAP but SAP provides the info to write the needed programs.  Larger vendors of process control software will probably already have the necessary programs available for you.  The "talking" is done via process control instructions which follows specific standards to pass messages between equipment.  SAP can produce and receive  the necessary messages.
You can transfer data to batch characteristics from third party shop control software via process messages.  This is standard SAP. See the link below.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/d8/f85c40e89811d195f6080009c17b92/content.htm
You can also transfer characteristic data between inspection lots and your process control systems
http://help.sap.com/printdocu/core/Print46c/en/data/pdf/PPPIPCS/PPPIPCS.pdf
(see page 27 for the inspection data messages, category PI-QMSMR)
The link above should give you a basic understanding of the possibilities.  You should contact the vendor of your process control software.  Many of the larger vendors probably have done the SAP integration already and can probably refer you to a consultant or in house person that has this specific experience and can help you get this going.  Also contact SAP and ask about their approved vendors that have certified interfaces to work with SAP.

  • What are the best ways (for best performance) in MII to process the incoming process messages from shop floor systems to SAP ECC 6.0 and vice versa?

    Hi All,
Can you please suggest to choose the best ways (for best performance) in MII (12.2 on NW 7.3), to process the incoming process messages from shop floor systems to SAP ECC 6.0 and vice versa?
    Thanks

    Hi Surya,
Best practices for flow of data from ECC --> SAP MII --> Shop floor & Vice verse:
    1. Send ECC data through IDOC's/RFC's as messages to SAP MII message listener and BSL transaction process data and update directly on shop floor database as if you configured in Data services or later send those data by web service to shop floor system (i.e. depends on Shop floor machines).
    From Shop floor:
shop floor --> SAP MII --> ECC
    1. Use either Web service or fetch data from DB and pass data to BAPI's  for sending to ECC through BLS transaction.

  • Want to create inspection lots during In-House production (shop floor)

    Hello,
As per our requirement we need to inspect a material multiple times (3-4 times) during shop floor production. It means we want to check a material say after operation 30, 50, 70 and 110 (of routing). We don't want to start operation 50 unless inspection of material after operation 30 is over. We don't want to start operation 70 unless inspection of material after operation 50 is over and so on.
How can we attain this? We have assigned inspection type 03 in material master - quality management. We have assigned various MICs in concerned operations. Inspection lot is getting generated as soon as the release of production order takes place and it contains all MICs (and operations). We are able to make the result recording and defect recording for all operations at the beginning only.
Is it possible to create multiple inspection lots for these operations and is it [possible to restrict the confirmation of later operation unless inspection of previous operation is over i.e. a usage decision is already carried out for previous operation.

  • Rejecting semi finished material in shop floor operation wise

    Dear all,
How can I reject the material when I found the quality is not up to mark when the material is in process in shop floor in any operation.
Quality management is activated in material master but I don't know the process or steps for rejecting the material so that user cannot confirm the order.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello ,
You can reject in line production at any point of time due for quality reasons.
Quality activate with 03 inspection type
Critical MIC's - Defect recording marked ok in Control indicator.
In customizing, notification type needs to be assigned with inspection type.
when u recorded your results and any defect found then in bckgrnd notification created where you nedd to fill each and every information related to defect.
Now, your another query, if defect found then system won't allow confirmation for the order. than you need to use one exit EXIT_SAPLCORF_106, where you need to pass inspection lot number and its UD valuation, if it is rejected then system won't allow confirmation. on other hand you need to change it again once you found production ok as Accepted so that pp will confirm it.

  • Open item in PS reporting for shop floor order (same as PO's or PR's)

    Hi Guys,
I have a question simple but I could till now find any solution in standard Report Writer or in Report Painter and I donu2019t want to create a specific report with an ABAP.
In the system we have set quit complex projects with WBS, Networks and Activities. In each project there are also material which are standard material consumed from collective stock and specific material produced internally or purchased externally. The specific material are consumed through specific stock project.
In Report Painter/Writer there are ratios for the open line items for purchase orders or requisitions but I am not able to find the same values for the shop floor orders made internally. Further I get the values for the planned shop floor orders and of course the complete actual (coming from both requirements) but I will know what are the values which are between (nat yet actual and plan).
Has anybody already faced this situation or do anyone the solution to my problem?
I thank you for your replies.
    Best regards

    Hi
Please use table EKAB for your search instead of using EBAN Or EKKO

  • How to progammatically get Inspection Characteristics from Inspection Plan

How do I programmatically get Inspection Characteristics from an inspection plan? I am currently getting inspection characteristics from inspection lots via a QM-IDI RFC call (QIRF_SEND_REQUIREMENTS_GET_DAT2), but if the Inspection Characteristic is not in an inspection lot, I don't get it via the RFC call. What BAPI/RFC/IDOCS mechanism can I use from an external subsystem (VB.NET app) to get inspection characteristics (Spec Limits, Target, Operation, Activity) associated with a material in an inspection plan?
    Thanks,
    Ed

The problem is the SAP system that my external subsystem (VB.NET application using QM-IDI) is interfacing with does not have inspection lots (and the customer is not willing to add inspection lots), so the QM-IDI RFC that I'm using (QIRF_SEND_REQUIREMENTS_GET_DAT2) does not return the inspection characteristics (spec limits, etc) that I require. My customer creates a reference (QP11) with inspection characteristics, then attaches the reference to a Material (QP01). When I try to get the inspection characteristics for the material via QIRF_SEND_REQUIREMENTS_GET_DAT2, I don't get the inspection characteristics because there is no inspection lot associated with the material and inspection characteristics.
The design is for my external subsystem to do the Material Inspection Characteristic valuation, and then send the valuation results back to SAP. Is there a way to get Material Inspection Characteristics and then send the results back given the SAP setup I described above?
    Thanks,
    Ed

  • Add inspection characteristics to production order created via CO07

    Hi, all.
We're creating production orders to perform production rework on assemblies using transaction CO07.
We have a requirement to inspect and make a usage decision on the reworked assembly.
Since there is no material at the header level for CO07 orders, the system isn't allowing us to do an inspection because it has no material master QA view to reference.  Although the control key is marked for in-process inspection, the production order still won't allow it.
I can't add "unplanned inspection characteristics", not can I manually create an inspection lot using QA01.
Is there a way to manually force in an inspection for an operation on a CO07 order?
    Thanks.
    Sarah

    Hi,
We cannot do a inspection for a production order unless it has material assigned to it and the material got QM inspection type relevant to that.

  • SFDM Tool (Shop Floor Dispatching and Monitoring), Technical questions

    Hi Everybody,
i am very excited to change knowledge here on the SCN.
Right now I am analyzing the SFDM Tool (Shop Floor Dispatching and Monitoring) and need some more Information, which cannot be found via Internet research. I hope someone, who is familiar with the technical details can support me with answers.
    1. Master Data:
    - How does the Interchange of master data (such as machine capacities in terms of time/quantities or number of available machines) work between the       SFDM and the ERP System?
    - Is there a permanent interface between the SFDM and the master data in the ERP System?
    - If so, which of the master data are communicated?
    - Are there any limitations?
    - Do BAPIs (Business Application Programming Interface) play a role?
    - Is any further master data maintenance necessary, if the customer wants to implement SFDM?
    2. There is a backend component situated in the ERP System called "SFDM on ABAP 1.0". What is the aim of this component?
    3. Does the SFDM work with algorithms? If so, why?
    4. Does the SFDM consider other machines in the same production plant?
    5. Does it work over HANA?
    6. Any further functionalities or restrictions?

    Hi
i wouldn't recommend SFDM for performance problem solving, if this is the issue you are facing.
If this is because planners are "lost" with CM25 because of problems for Production Orders selection and so-on, then try SFDM.
There is no new functionality compared to CM2x transactions within ERP.
The benefits are clearly focused on design and user-friendliness:
    interactive logs
easy configuration of settings and strategy compared to CM2x TCodes
    accessible details
Please keep also in mind the fact that this is working for individual capacities (cf. Rough Guide) and related constraints in terms of capacity category (only 0001 is supported).
    Best regards.

  • CN22 - Print Shop Floor Papers for Network Orders

    Hi All,
We are printing shop floor papers for network orders - the printers are setup, configuration is working fine.
However, there is a sporadic error: when we select "Print" and then "Save" in CN22, the system pops up a window with the list of all network activities. However, for some reason, the first time this is done, only a few network activities appear on the list. If we close the pop up, then select "Print" and then "Save" again, the whole list appears. Has anyone encountered this before? I looked through OSS, but couldn't tell if any of the notes would be applicable to resolve the issue.

    Hi,
I just went through the same problem. Don't know if it is still open.
In customizing under "Project System"->"Structures"->"Operative Structures"->"Network"->"Printing in Networks" you will find entry "Recommendations for printing and print control". There it is stated that the number of time tickets or number of confirmation slips entered for the activity is greater than zero.
Check in transaction OPS0 if you have set the number of prints greater than zero in menu point "List control for transactions (double clic on the entry).

  • MDM Catalog can't transfer to shopping cart with out the role "Super Admin"

    Hi Experts,
When we checked out the records from MDM and transfer to Shopping cart, the system remind us with the error message " Page not found or not available". We have met this problem before, that cause of the Group permission definition in Portal Content Management. And also we have fixed the issue as the notes "1140519-Page not found error on starting Live Auction or Catalogs".
I do not why this error message come out again? Is that still the portal configuration issue?
When I added the super administrastor role to the request user,  the problem never came out again. But we can not add such a big role to every end user.
Waitting for your help! Many thanks in advance!

May be it is the Portal related question....

  • Capabillities of xMII with respect to TIBCO in integrating shop floor

Can any  one tell capabilities of xMII  in comparision with TIBCO with respect to shop floor integration  and KPI generation . which is better.

First off, Like Ryan I too am bias towards xMII. Secondly I don't know that much about TIBCO, but here are some questions you ask in order to compare xMII with TIBCO:
1.) xMII is a very good data aggregate where you the customer determines what you need and how to use it. Does TIBCO have this functionality? Your applications come first in xMII, the functionality is not limited to just a set of canned KPIs, you can quickly and easily add new KPIs dependant on your needs.
2.) Shop floor connectivity is critical, Does TIBCO have the connectivity that xMII offers?
3.) xMII has great performance and is light weight. Unlike most 'Enterprise Level' application platforms, SAP xMII considers real-time to be in the order of seconds to minutes, not days or weeks. The largest overhead in an xMII installation (minus any other SAP systems) is NetWeaver.
Try to figure out you scenario, find all the business requirements you need, then check out xMII's abilities vs TIBCO. I think you'll agree that xMII can handle what ever TIBCO offers and most likely even more.
    Martin.

  • Inspection characteristics based on material and goup counter

    Hi,
Do we have some function module which would give us inspection characteristics based on material and group counter. I have gone through many posts in this regard but find answers to get inspection characteristics based on inspection lot number.
I do not want to get into quality at all. Is there a FM to get the inspection characteristics based on material and group counter or any related tables would be of gr8 help. T-code QP03 takes material and group counter as input and displays the inspection characteristics. Any input in this regard would be of great help.

    Hi,
Use tables MMAPL , MAPL and PLMK as per your requirement.
    Thanks,
