Installation of SAP Web A S Java 6.40 SP3u0092 at u0091Logon Information' pane

I am trying to install the following evaluation software’s in bold letters from http://sdn.sap.com on my computer. The installation notes comes with the package SAP Web Application Server when I download it. I am following the installation notes as guided. The hardware/software requirements before installing the following are
·     A Windows PC with at least 1Gb of memory and at least 6Gb of free disk-space
·     Microsoft Windows 2000 (at least SP3) or Windows Server 2003
·     Installed Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with all updates that are explained here
·     Installed Sun JDK 1.4.2_04 (Note that there are some known issues with this version. Please use 1.4.2_05 as soon as it is publicly available)
·     Installation target must be a NTFS drive (FAT won't work)
Except for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 I have everything. I am using a Microsoft SQL 2005 Evaluation edition in place of SQL 2000.

Hi,
It is always good to go with whatever is specified in the installation guide. So ideally, i would suggest you to go for MS SQL Server 2000, its patches and hotfixes.
But yes, if you want to play around with it, you can just copy srv_j2ee.sql file from a system where SAP WAS 6.30 is already installed and place it exactly where it is required.
Secondly, there are some patches and hotfixes that needs to be applied when working with SQL Server 2000. I am not sure if you have the similar patches and hotfixes for your evaluation version too. Just check up on that at SDN. I am sure, it wont work without the patches and hotfix.
At the end, i would again like to add that this is just a work around and not an appropriate solution. Just give it a try. If it doesnt work you need to use SQL Server 2000 as documented in the guide.
Mark it as answered if this answers your question.

  • SAP Web AS ABAP + Java system

    Hello All,
I am looking at the installation guide of SAP XI. I did not understand one thing from that guide. it says
<b>"If you want to install the component SAP Exchange Infrastructure:Prepare the SAP Web AS ABAP + Java system for SAP Exchange Infrastructure"</b>
I would appreciate if anyone of you can clarify what is <b>SAP Web AS ABAP + Java system</b>.
What I have been thinking all these days is we could have either Java(J2EE) or ABAP Web Application Server.
I don't understand what this ABAP + Java system is ?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Vanaja,
in the world of WAS 6.40 you can install it as three variant.
    1. ABAP standalone (with it own SID) e.g. for R/3
    2. Java stanalone (with it own SID) e.g. for EP 7.0
    3. ABAP + Java as an Add in (Java and ABAP has the same SID)
For XI you have to install a so called double stack WAS 6.40 or SAP Web AS ABAP + Java System or ABAP + Java Add in. All this describe the same variant of the installation.
Normally you will have one database where J2EE-Scheme and
the ABAP-Schema is on the same database. I would really
suggest you to read the installation master SR1 there you
will get the understanding what is the difference.
    regards,
    Ly-Na Phu

  • SAP Web Dynpro With Java

    Hi Guys
A situation at work has forced me to learn web dynpro    with java. I already have some experience with the ABAP    web dynpro   . Now the question is how much "java" do i need to learn to learn sap WebDynpro    based on java. Should I first try and get a fair 'hands on' on core java and then shoot for web dynpro    or should I take the other approach, that is just learn as much java as is required for web dynpro   . Any suggestions?
    thanks
    sameer

    Hi Sameer,
I believe you need not thoroughly know Core Java to begin for Web Dynpro Java but yes, you should have a fair idea about object, class and exceptions that i believe you would already have after working in ABAP. The UI elements can be just inserted into the component by drag and drop and codes correspondly would be auto generated. Only for customization of some functionalities, you will have to write code in Java using APIs.
Just go through the following tutorials recommended by SAP to start over Web Dynpro Java on NWDS.

  • Issue installing sneak  prev. edition of SAP web appl. server java 6.40

    Hi everybody
I'm new to SAP. I downloaded the trial version of the web application server. I had no problem during the installation (that I did on Win XP with j2sdk1.4.2), where, as I was invited to, I set up a master password for this set of users:
    -the operating system user j2eadm
    -the operating system user SAPServiceJ2E
-the database user SAPJ2EDB in database JD2
    -the J2EE engine user Administrator
    -the J2EE engine user Guest
After the installation I logged in as the new added user j2eadm using the password I set up. Then I used the SAP management console and I was able to start the services, but I was unable to access the database J2E that was created during the installation. I tried to access it using SAPJ2EDB as user name and the same password I used to log in as the OS user j2eadm. What I had for responce was "-24950  user authorization failed ". Then I found the database manager (DBM75.exe under ...\SAPinst_WAS\J2EE-CD\SAPDB\NT\SETUPS) and through it I can see the J2E db but I am unable to connect to it. Can anybody help me understand what I am doing wrong? Is it the case to retry to install? Thank you in advance.

    Thank you Stefan
I've to try JCo and I'd like to know if the sneak version of WSA 6.40 allows me to. In this case, can you please help me understand what parameters should I pass to the client object through JCO.createClient? Base on what I found on the tutoriale available with JCO, I'm trying this:
    JCO.createClient("001", "control", "control", null, my_host_name, "00");
    but what I get is:
    connect to SAP gateway failed
    Connect_PM GWHOST=my_host_name, GWSERV=sapgw00, ASHOST=my_host_name, SYSNR=00
LOCATION CPIC (TCP/UP) on local host
ERROR partner not reached (host my_host_name, service 3300) ...
    - what am I doing wrong?
    - parameters userid and password have to refer to what user? How can I create his account?
Consider that now everything is on: sap db, enqueue and message services, j2ee instance and SDM.
    Thank you very much!

  • Logs during starting of SAP Web AS

    Hi,
Could any one help me in locating the  folder structure where the logs would be when SAP Web AS is started ?
    Thanks !
    Karthik

    Hai,
For ABAP you can see the startup logs under /home/<sid>adm.
You will find the startsap.log there.
Check /usr/sap/SID/Instance dir/work for all the workprocess trace files.
If you get any problem in starting the Instance you have to look in the above paths to get the information on the error.
For JAVA you can see the logs under
/usr/sap/SID/DVEBMGS00/j2ee/cluster/server0/log for defaultTrace.trc files which is same as dev_w* files in ABAP.
    http://help.sap.com/SAPHELP_NWPI71/helpdata/EN/46/952c00554915eee10000000a114a6b/content.htm
You can try ADM200 for further details.

Please put consistent value between the max/min heap memory together with the value of young memory (NewSize) and tenured memory.
    For example:
    -Xmx768m
    -Xms384m
    -XX:NewSize=96m
    -XX:MaxNewSize=192m
This will set the start of young memory 96m, and start of tenured memory (384-96)m
Max young memory is 192, and max for tenured is (768-192)m.
Never set something like below, it won't start.
    -Xmx768m
    -Xms769m
    -XX:NewSize=96m
    -XX:MaxNewSize=192m
    or
    -Xmx768m

  • SAP NetWeaver 7.01 Java installation on MSCS and Log shipping for DR

    Hi Experts,
Can anyone please explain if below is possible :
    - We have installed Netweaver 7.01 Java application server on Microsoft clustering which is working perfectly ok.
-Now we are looking at building a DR solution for the above installation using SQL Server 2008 Log-shipping. The DR site has the same MSCS configuration as the primary site.
-If we log-ship the production database and create a secondary database in "standby" or "norecovery" mode, how do we install a Passive SAP Central instance in case we want to failover from the primary to secondar ?
    - We know that we have the primary database log-shipped to the secondary site and in the event of failure we can switch the roles and make secondary as primary and then perform the system copy steps on the MSCS. the drawback here is that it will take a long time to bring the system online if we perform the system copy. Our RTO is one hour only so this is not acceptable.
Question : Is there anyway we can install the Central Services and Applicaiton servers beforehand on the secondary site on the secondary log-shipped database so that in the event of failure all we do is bring the secondary database primary and then start the SAP on the secondary site ?
If yes then can anyone point me the any SAP note or documentation that has the details of how to do this.
I have already looked at 1101017, 965908 but its not clear how we can perform the installation on the JAVA stack only.
We want to implement similar to what is shows in the below diagram :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_apo/helpdata/en/fc/33c028d58511d386ee00a0c930df15/content.htm
Appreciate if someone can assist in resolving the above query.
    Thank you.
    RA

    Thanks Markus for your reply.
I did looked at the HA web page from SAP and configured MSCS for HA but there's no information regarding DR setup. All it says is setup a log shiping which we already know but there's no procedure to setup SAP on the DR site(Passive SAP central instance)
My original question still stands :
    - Is system copy the only option that we need to perform at the DR site in the event of failure ( Assumption is that we ieve make the secondary database as primary and also sync file system for JAVA using SAN replication technologies)
    - We have to achieve an RTO of 1 hour which is not possible in this case as performing system copy using MSCS HA option will take few hours to setup and test.
-The link "http://help.sap.com/saphelp_apo/helpdata/en/fc/33c028d58511d386ee00a0c930df15/content.htm" shows that we can have SAP PAssive central instance. Whats the procedure of installing this Passive instance on the secondary site so in the event of failure all we do is make the secondary database primary and bring the SAP system online(installed already - no system copy performed) and also file system is already is sync.
    Thank you.

    Fernando Urzedo

    Hi Fernando,
to track the problem, you can have a look at the traces in the dev_jcontrol and dev_jcmon trace files located under the /usr/sap/GBS/JC00/work directory of your installation. If the dev_jcontrol file indicates an error in any of the bootstrap processes (bootstrap_<someID>), you can then further track the issue by having a look at the corresponding dev_boostrap_<ID> file in the same directory.
It is likely that the server does not start due to memory problems. If this is the case, have a look at this thread dealing with such a problem: jcontrol.exe J2EE Server stopped
    Hope that helps!

    Hi Sunny, hi Markus!
    many thanks for your hints!
I've just solved the problem. The problem was, our Listener was not configured correctly.
I've adjusted the listener.ora, tnsnames.ora to the correct hostname - cause, we had a hostname-switch last month and I had forgotten to adapt the Listener...
now the Listener is running as well:

I am trying to install SAP WEB AS 6.2 unicode version on SAPDB 7.3 on windows 2000 . I get the following error when i try to install the database instance after the succesfully installing the Central instance.

    Execute Session Command : exit

What does this mean and what do I have to do to correct it ?

    Hello Venkatesh,
could you please tell me which exact SAP DB version you want to install? That's important in this case, because within version 7.3 there's a switch (from a certain Build level) of the SAP DB Installer (used by the sdbinst program).
Additionally, please send me installation protocol of sdbinst, located in the directory C:\sapdb\data\wrk. The name of the file will look something like this:
    SAPDB<Installationtype>-<Date>-Time.log
    Kind regards,
    Roland
