Installed Leopard and macbook internal web cam not working

Istalled Leopard a few days ago and my internal cam (macbook) went dead as soon as it was installed. I have been reviewing discussions across the mac site and tried all of the following.
Updated to 10.5.1 and then 1.1, but to no avail. I also carried out all the other resets (battery out - held power button for 5 secs) and command / option P and R - but still not detecting the camera.
Please don't tell me it is a hardware problem as it was working a few hours before with Tiger and too many people seem to have the same problem.
I would be really grateful for any other ideas? ; o (

Did you do an upgrade? If so I would make a clone of your hard drive and do a erase and install. If that does not work then bring it in to the apple store to see if they can help.

My macbook's  (core duo)camera not working after installing show leopard, can you advice if I need some other updates or anything to make it work?

Hi purduejatt,  I apologize for the delayed response as I understand how important it is to have a working camera!  I would suggest clearing the data in the Camera application.  Press Menu>Settings>Application Manager>All>Camera>Clear data.  Please keep me updated on the status as I would be more than happy to provide additional support.

    Hello @drifterboy,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I have read your post on how the webcam is not working on your notebook computer, and I would be happy to be of assistance!
Since you have attempted to remove and re-install the software, I recommend returning your system back to a previous restore point when the webcam was working. This can be done by following this document on Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8).
If the issue persists, I also suggest performing a backup and recovery of your Operating System. This can be done by following this document on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8), as well as Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8). This should help return your system back to factory defaults.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

    Hi FIXMYWEBCAM,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP ENVY m6 Notebook and having Webcam issues. Have you tried to uninstall the TrueVision Hd device? If you do restart the Notebook after you uninstall it. It should install the current driver for you. Have you tried to use the automated troubleshooting for Windows 8.1? Here is a document on how to restore your Windows to 8.

  • Installing Leopard and new internal hard drive at same time, best plan?

Ok so basically the title explains what I need to do. I am currently travelling in Europe, and returning home to New York on Tuesday night. I have a new hitachi 250gb HD and will have Leopard waiting for me at home when I arrive, and will get right to doing this installation. I am writing on the discussion boards here because I am hoping the users here can give me their opinions on what is the best plan of action to do this whole install?
So what I was thinking was, I should remove the hard drive that's already inside, put it into an external enclosure. Then, put my new blank 250gb hard drive into the macbook pro, close up the computer, then put the Leopard OSX install disk, and do a completely fresh install of Leopard. Then, after installing (or during installing?) I should run the migration assistant program to get all my files and settings etc. transferred over to the new internal hard drive with Leopard on it, from the old hard drive that will be plugged in from an enclosure as an external drive.
Will this plan have any problems that I am not aware of? Is there a better process for doing this task? Any advice will be greatly appreciated! I am anxious to get my new hard drive into the computer because my 160gb is filling up, and dying so badly to use the new Leopard!!

You could also put the new disk in the external enclosure, partition it using disk utility. Then make a clone of your current hard disk to the new external one using the restore feature in disk utility. Boot from the external disk and Install Leopard as an upgrade keeping all your files and setting. check everything is all running how I should and swap drives over. That's another option for you.

  • Macbook early 2009 camera not working

How come my early 2009 macbook camera is not working?

    Gary Leung wrote:
I have the same problem as this person had with iSight. It happened 2 times, once in December 09 and once Feb 2010. Both times I was told to reset the SMC and the procedure worked. But I would like your opinion whether something insidiously wrong with the SMC or other hardwares in my MacBook 13-inch alum late 2008 model. Or do I need to re-install the OS, which I upgraded it from 10.5 to Snow leopard (10.6) back in Sept. 2009. Thanks.
    Hello, Gary.
Twice since Sep 2009 would not be a problem to me, but if you only used it twice (or a few times), I suppose I might re-think that.
OS X is now so reliable that many of us who let our Macs run or sleep rather than shutting down between uses tend to forget that computer "temp" files can get a bit scrambled as usage continues. If you restart regularly but still experience problems with increasing frequency, you might want to consider doing some troubleshooting. I would start with  > Software Update... and then verify that all third-party software you have installed is updated to the latest version that is compatible with your Mac OS.
If you use no or a few third-party software, an occasional restart will likely help OS X keep your Mac working at best efficiency. If you still experience any difficulty with your iSight, the troubleshooting suggestions in Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090 should help you determine what needs to be fixed.
If you experience problems in addition to iSight, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1388 may help you.
The instructions that came with your Snow Leopard upgrade can help if you need to reinstall.

  • I installed Lion and now photo booth does not work

It says I have to reinstall it again. How do I do that?

I am also having continual issues with my WiFi connection using my MacBook after installing Lion.  It will work sometimes, for a while, but will drop connection unexpectedly.  It worked fine with Snow Leopard and my husband has no problem connecting to our network with his PC running Windows 7, so I know it's not our router/modem/internet provider.
I installed the latest OS update that claimed to resolve Airport issues, but it actually appears to have more dificulty connecting than before.  What the ****, Apple?  I use my computer for school and business; not having a reliable connection to my wireless internet is a HUGE inconvenience, disappointment, annoyance, and problem.

  • Upgraded To Snow Leopard And Now The Mic Is Not Working

I upgraded to Snow Leopard, and now my mic input is not woking on my 2 year old MacBook Pro. Can you tell me how to fix it?

    Dainis,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You haven't provided much information so there is no way for us to trouble shoot your issue. I'm guessing you plugged a mic into the port, if so go to manufacturer of the mic's web site and see if that device is Snow Leopard compatible. Otherwise our hands are tied on how to help you.

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP 15-r250tu Notebook and issues with the WebCam and Nokia phone. Just got this system and I can't figure out how to start the web-cam. I don't know if it's the hardware, software or just me being dumb.    Thanks

    Howdy Happy:
No you are not dumb nor is it cam or software issue. I have addressed this issue several times in the forum. Oh how I wish the HP Moderator will post resolved answer. You found the web-cam software thats a pluss. So I can skip that. Least you found it. Slide the web-cam icon up ward and in the middle of screen and tap it. This now opens web-cam software. Your camera shoud now be on look at the center top of your computer you should see the green light on.  Bottom of web-cam sceen is your control for recording. Press capture to record video and press snap shot to take picture. Side bar is additional effects you can add to your picture or video tap on your choice. To replay your vedio or picture just tap on your choice. tap on the washer like icon von this is where you set web-cam timer settings and other stuff at. You should be all set now. It only can be excessed in HP Touchsmart software window.Carousel is rotated till you find web-cam icon. Version 3 software is located on bottom row icons slide bottom row until see web-cam icon. Slide Web-cam icon up and in center screen and tap it. Tap it again if you do not see capture button. All set now have fun.
