Installing MS Project 2013 problems

I am trying to install MS Project Professional 2013 and keep getting told it will not load. I have Windows 7 64bit. I have Office 2010 32bit already installed and works fine and has for years. I have to option to load Project either 32 or 64bit and neither
one will load correctly.  Any help?

You can only install Project Professional 2013 32-bit with office 32-bit products.  (2010 vs. 2013 is fine)
When you install the Project Professional 2013 32-bit version do you see the splash screen with the install now?
Have you tried right clicking the setup.exe file and selecting run as an administrator?
If you could post screen shots those would be helpful also - if the above does not successfully install the software

  • Cannot install Microsoft Project 2013 Trial

    Hi everyone,
I'm having a nightmare trying to install the Microsoft Project 2013 trial. I've read various forum posts, but can anyone give me a basic step by step guide to installing the trial!!!! I keep getting an .img file which does not open anything relevant! all
i want is a microsoft project icon to click on...please!!!!!!!!!

    Matt --
I think your question is the most repeated question in this public user forum.  Most people download the Microsoft Project 2013 trial version and expect to find an EXE file, which is not what you get.  Instead, for some reason only known to Microsoft,
you end up with an IMG file.
To install the software, you have the choice of burning it to a disk, or you can use third party software to unzip the contents of the IMG file.  I have opted for the second choice, and used the free software from 7-Zip.  If you use the 7-Zip software,
you can unzip the contents to a folder, and then run the EXE file you will find in the folder.  And no, I do not work for 7-Zip; I have used their software successfully and like it.  Hope this helps.

  • Getting error 25004 when installing MS Project 2013 Trial edition on Windows 8

I am trying to install the trial version of MS Project 2103 on my Windows 8 laptop. When I try to activate my key, I get error 25004. It thinks that I have another trial version on my computer. I un-installed my office 2010 (the only Office installed on
my laptop) and tried un-installing and re-installing Project and when it comes to activating the key, it give me the same error message. Somehow, it thinks that I still have another trial version on my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Project 2013 free trial setup.exe module doesn't work

    Hi there,
I installed the Project 2013 free trial and it opened with 7zip, but now the issue is the setup.exe.  When I click on it, I get an error message "The specified module could not be found".  What do I do from here?

    Hi There,
There might be some wrong file association or a module missing. I would suggest you to uninstall both Project 2013 free trial and 7zip and then first install Project 2013 and check if it works.
Once you are sure that Project 2013 trial works, you can install 7zip.
    Happy troubleshooting...

  • Error while installing MS Project Server 2013(trial) on Sharepoint 2013(CAL)

My problem is that I get the following error:
trial editions and licensed editions of SharePoint, Project Server, and Office Web Apps products may not be installed on the same server
when I try to install MS Project Server 2013(180 days-evaluation) over a Sharepoint 2013(MAPS license).
What does exactly this error say?
Do I need to have Sharepoint and MS Project Server with same type of license?
If so, I suppose I'll have to remove Sharepoint(MAPS) and install a 180 days-evaluation Sharepoint. Will this re-installation be acceptable or I'll get some license type incompatibility issues?

Hello. You are correct, you will need to have the same license types either both trials or both licensed. Uninstalling/ reinstalling with trials should work fine or build another trial farm. Paul

  • Project 2013 not installing - Boot strapper error

I have Office 2007 on my home PC, along with Lync 2010 - I need to edit Project 2013 files so have opted to download the 60 day trial image file - this has burnt to CD nicely, but when installing I get the Setup Boot Strapper has stopped working message.
Has anyone worked out a way that allows a single product to be installed that doesn't require me to un-install my other office products?
    Thanks,

  • Can not install MS Project Profession 2013 trial

I was unsuccessful in installing the Microsoft Project Profession 2013 trial. I end up with a .IMG file, not an .ISO file. Using 7-Zp on several attempts led to the attached error in each case. Similar errors occurred trying tools like WinRAR.
That Microsoft may have a download error since 2013 concerning MSP 2013 makes no sense. It's bizarre $1000 software is now this hard to install. MSP 2010 seemed to install easily.

  • Acrobat XI no longer works after installing Project 2013

    Hello All,
This one is really odd and I can't find any documentation anywhere.  I have a client that has Office 2010 and Acrobat XI Standard.  I just installed Project 2013 on the machine and now right clicking on any Office file will not show the option
to create PDF.  He can right-click on a Project file and create one but not on any other Office file.  I have never seen this before.  Any thoughts?
    Regards,
    Rob Battaglia

Yes I have - no luck.  This system is using Office 2010 x64 and Project 2013 x64.  This all happened after installing Project.  The right click on a file works for Project just not for Office.  I did check to make sure the add-in was
present for both Excel and Word - PDFMaker.dll is selected in both and the user can create PDF files from within Word and Excel - just not when right-clicking on the file in Windows Explorer.

  • MS Project 2013 Trial Download not visible in installed programs and thus can't open

I've consulted other posts however answer is not listed.  I have followed the instructions to download the file.  I've downloaded the 64-bit file and selected Open application on download however nothing happens.  I've gone to my Control Panel
and Project 2013 is NOT listed.  I've searched for Project 2013 in the start up menu to no avail.
Can anyone advise how I can get the software installed on my laptop?  The fact it states the application has downloaded but it's not visible as a downloaded file is driving me crazy.
    Please help
    Marisa

    Hello Marisa,
When you download the trial, it downloads the image file by name ProjectProfessional_x64_en-us.img
Do you see this file under your download folder? If yes, then you have downloaded the trial software successfully.
As a next step, you need to extract .img into a directory using any tools that unzip the .img format (e.g., 7-zip
http://www.7-zip.org/ ) and then install from it by running setup.exe.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,

  • Installing Project 2013 on multiple computers

If Project 2013 is installed on a laptop, and later that laptop is replaced, can the same license be used on a new laptop, if the original project installation is uninstalled?

    Hi,
As far as I can understand from this

  • Visio and Project 2013 silent install returns immediately (before install is finished)

    Hi,
I am building a task sequence that will include Office 2010 ProPlus (volume license), a bunch of other products (like SQL Server and Visual Studio) and also Visio 2013 and Project 2013.
For Visio 2013 and Project 2013, I have to use the retail media (this is for use in academic computer labs and we have a single retail key through DreamSpark Premium that allows unlimited activations - I don't know why DreamSpark doesn't just give a volume
    license key).
I managed to get Visio 2013 and Project 2013 to install silently by modifying the config.xml file and using the /config parameter. However, when running my install script (the usual VBScript wrapper) or just from the command line, the command returns before
setup finishes (literally within less than a second). Setup continues to run and finishes successfully, but as you can imagine, MDT considers that application install finished and tries to move on to the next application which fails because another installation
    is still in progress.
I've included below the relevant portion of the VBScript wrapper. Any help in figuring out how to get the wrapper to wait for the installer to finish is appreciated.
    sSetupFile = oUtility.ScriptDir & "\Source\setup.exe"
    sArguments = "/config vispror.ww\config.xml"
    oLogging.CreateEntry oUtility.ScriptName & ": Starting installation", LogTypeInfo
// Check for existence of setup file omitted
    iRetVal = oUtility.RunWithHeartbeat("""" & sSetupFile & """ " & sArguments)
Coincidentally, iRetVal = 0 indicating success.
    Thanks,
    SA

    Hi SA,
Obviously you use the VBS wrapper for some reason. To my understanding this behaviour needs to be captured and translated to "script is till busy, when installation completes script is finished, proceed to next step".
I can only advise you to either try the command line directly in MDT, instead of using the VBS wrapper, and/or try to create an MSP and try this in your VBS wrapper, command line directly in MDT.
MSP files are easily created by going into command prompt to the sources folder of Visio / Project and execute the following command: setup.exe /admin this will start the Office Customization Tool which enables you to create an MSP file.
When you are ready, execute the following command to install the application with the settings in the MSP: setup.exe /adminfile custom.msp
Again I can imagine the purpose of the VBS just as I can imagine the purpose of using the config.xml above a custom.msp. But for starters this should get you going to try to find an resolve where the issue lies. In the VBS or somewhere else.
    Cheers!
If this post is helpful please click "Mark for answer", thanks! Kind regards

  • Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper Has Stopped Working when Trying to Install MS Project Professtional 2013

I cannot get the trial version of MS Project 2013 to load onto my computer.
I keep getting "Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper Has Stopped Working" error message when attempting to download.

What operating system are you attempting to install to?

  • Launching VB6 Editor after installing Visual Studio 2013 results in "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Visual Studio..."

I have had various versions of Visual Studio installed beside Visual Basic 6.0 Enterprise for some time with no problems, most recently Visual Studio 2012 Premium.
I recently installed Visual Studio 2013 Premium, and now every time I open VB6 I get a dialog that says "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2013" that shows a progress bar. After it finishes (30 seconds or
so), it launches again and again and finally VB6 will open. This happens with each instance of VB6, regardless if I've already done it once and never run VS2013 in between.
If I cancel the dialog, I get this error message in a dialog: "Error 1712. One or more of the files required to restore your computer to its previous state could not be found. Restoration will not be possible." Several more "Please wait"...
dialogs will appear and if I continue to cancel, eventually I'll get the VB6 editor. It appear to work fine despite the error messages.
It seems to me that the VS2013 installer flagged some dll's or other files to be rolled back whenever starting VB6. It doesn't appear to be necessary, and I'd like to avoid playing the "Please wait" wack-a-cancel-button game before launching each
instance of VB6 (or waiting several minutes for no reason). So how do I fix this?
Note: I've seen something similar happen in Outlook on a different PC when upgrading from 2010 to 2013. The same sort of "Please wait"... dialog would appear each time I opened Outlook. Judging by the "similar" questions that popped up when
entering this forum post, I'd say this is a general problem with upgrading older versions or installing newer versions of major Microsoft software side-by-side.
    /* Don Reynolds */

    I found the answer!
I was having the exact same issue, and I was search for a solution and I happened across the following thread: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/f4b0fd38-f4f9-41ea-bd8d-834203a175d2/building-visual-studio-2010-project-triggers-please-wait-while-windows-configures-visual-studio?forum=vssetup&prof=required
Scroll a small bit down, and there is a post by Barry Wang explaining that you need to use event viewer to find out what is missing. Anyway, I opened event viewer, then open VS 6, then hit refresh in the event viewer (under Windows Logs -> Application)
and saw a warning message from MsiInstaller. It gave me the following message:
Detection of product '{9C593464-7F2F-37B3-89F8-7E894E3B09EA}', feature 'Visual_Studio_Professional_x86_enu', component '{E3FF99AA-78B9-4A06-8A74-869E9F65E1FE}' failed.  The resource 'C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\URTInstallPath_GAC\' does
    not exist.
I opened an elevated command prompt, I navigated to the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework folder and verified that 'URTInstallPath_GAC' didn't exist, and then I did "md URTInstallPath_GAC".
Closed and reopened VS 6, and it instantly opened - no "Please wait" message.
Now this may or may not be the same problem you are having (problem is - I have had it happen on two separate computers now with VS 6 and VS 2013 installed), but it should point you in the right direction. In fact, you should be able to use the Event Viewer
for anytime the "Please wait" message shows up for any application, and then once there find out what is really missing.

  • Project 2013 - entering work hours at a monthly level

    Hi all,
Any help with this 'hopefully small' problem will be hugely appreciated. It's not so much a problem, but
me still being new to Project - sorry! As a summary of what I am working with:
I have entered a list of tasks (all set to Manually Scheduled).
I have entered a number of resources into the Resource List.
I have also assigned relevant resources to the tasks.
Using the Task Usage view, I would now like to begin entering Work hours for the resources assigned to the
tasks. We are planning at a monthly level, so I know how many hours each resource is expecting to be spending on each task over each month.
I have set the Timescale of my Task Usage screen to a monthly scale, thinking that this would allow me to
enter total hours for each month. As an example, one of the resources assigned to a task is set for 15 hours of Work in April. It all seems to look OK on input.
My problem is however, I would like the Start and Finish fields to reflect this, and span over the months
in which the Task's resources will be doing work. It doesn't seem to pick up the month accurately. Although I have entered the 15 hours in the column labelled April, the Start and Finish dates have come out as 30/04/14 and 30/05/14 respectively. I was hoping
the Start and Finish times of that row to be 01/04/14 and 30/04/14 respectively, but they are a month out of line, and has show the work to be happening over May, not April. Is there y way I can change this?
I hope this makes sense as a question? Any help at all would be brilliant. Please do let me know if I've
missed any detail and you need some more info. I'll also continue looking through the forums to check if this has already been asked.
p.s. I tried to upload an annotated image, but my account needs to be verified first. Do I need to do anything to request this? I didn't receive any usual 'verification' links in MS's email on opening this account.
    Thanks very much,
    ac18

    Hi John, Julie,
Thank you both very much for the help! Yes good spot, I did post it on both forums (http://www.msofficeforums.com/project/21190-project-2013-entering-work-hours-monthly-level.html) - it's been years since I've used forums of any kind, and it's great to see
experts being active across multiple sites!
I have given both suggestions a try, but unfortunately am still not quite there yet.
John, although your tip seems to work OK, I think I was hoping to find a way for the Start and Finish times to automatically span across the Work hours I have entered. If I was to then enter another 5 hours, but this time for March, the Start-Finish dates
should auto update to be 01/03/14 - 30/04/14. I understand now that this may require me to be on an Automatically Scheduled project?
Julie, your screen shot on the msofficeforums.com website is exactly what I am looking to achieve! I would like to enter month-level Work data, and that looks to be exactly that. I did try entering a zero in the month immediately after the last month that
had hours in it, but Project seemed to simply ignore it, with no visible change to the dates.
I have done some further investigating, and there does seem to be something different happening with my Project version (it's Proj Prof 2013). I have access to another computer with Project 2010 installed on it, and this doesn't seem to cause an issue. Note,
I did need to have set the tasks as Auto Scheduled.
Essentially, if I try and exactly replicate Julie's example on both versions with the following steps, I get slightly different results:
    Tasks set to Auto-Scheduled.
Set Project Start Date to 01/01/14
    Enter some resources.
    Switch to Task Usage view.
Set the Timescales on the right hand side to: Bottom tier=Months, Middle tier=Quarters.
    Enter a task.
Assign resources to the task. At this point, by default 8 hours worth of work appears for each assigned resource. In 2010, these hours appear in the January 14 column. But on my 2013 laptop however, these hours appear under the December 2013 column. Strange?
Anyway, in both cases I clear these default hours by entering zeros in their places.
I now enter 15 hours under April 2014 for one of the resources on the task.
In 2010, the Start and Finish dates of the assigned resource's row update to 01/04/14 - 30/04/14.
In 2013 however, the Start and Finish dates update to 30/04/14 - 30/05/14.
I have a feeling that this discrepancy is perhaps at the heart of my problem? Is there a setting with the application that I am not making?
    Thanks again,
    Arjun
