Interim Storage Type Configuration

Hi All
I want to find out on interim storage type configuration, if it is possible and flexible in that you are able to configure it in such a way that you are able to separate the movements into the storage types according to the diffrent commodities (material types) and within those commodities, you can separate/filter your gains, losses and adjustments. What I am looking at, at the end of the day is to be able to pull through a report of interim storage type where I would be able to see all my losses, gains and adjustments in terms of quantity sitting on the interim storage type.
Regards
Khuselwa

Hi
I am not sure what you want to see as stock in interim st types are not neccessarily gains or losses.
Interim st types are used in SAP to recognise that some stock exists and needs to be moved such as 902 for goods receipt or 921 for stock transfers.
If you have gains or losses which are created by adjustments you can use the 'Reason For Movement' field when you create the gain or loss (this field needs to be congigured) and then you can run a report MBGR to see them.
I hope that this helps

  • Why do we need Interim Storage Type ?

Why do we need Interim Storage Type ? If you say it's acting as an intermediatary  buffer location... Then why don't we need any Interim Storage for Bin to Bin stock movement??
Any pointers will be appreciated .

You have answered the for your question number 1.
I am going to answer for your question number 2:
We usually have interim storage bins in interim storage types. But these will disappear after the stock moved from interim bins.
This interim storage type/bin concept is created to map the real business process. Let's talk about the examply GR from supplier. Usually,
Warehouse personnel, unload the stock from truck and keep a place called staging area. This is in SAP called Interim storage area.
At this time, transaction is completed for IM side, Ie the material document is created and MM-WM trigger point TR also created. and depends the SAP config settings, this TR may be converted to as a TO and waiting for the confirmation.
    Hope it helps.

  • List of standard Interim storage types - WM

What are the standard Interim storage types
In my system people have created few starting with 9 hence not able to diffrentiate which are standard and which are non-standard
    Thanks

The Standard Interim storage types starts with 9**.
In the table T331, the below fields will have 'X', which shows everything is allowed.
    MISCH - Mixed storage
    ZULAG - Addition to stock
    NEGAT - Negative stock qty
LENVW - Storage Unit Management (will be empty)
The reason for the Storage Unit Management will not be selected was the HUS can packed and repacked with no restrictions.
I hope you can find the difference based on that.

  • Are Interim Storage Types HU managed?

Hi,  Please let me know if interim storage type can be HU managed? How can I do this?
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    with regards,
    Muthu Ganapathy.

    Hello Muthu,
In the same path as above, you will find the "Define storage type" node.
    - Execute that node
    - select the storage type for your warehouse.
    - on the bottom of screen, you will find "HU picking control"
    - Select the appropriate option.
This will give you fair idea about HU in Warehouse.

  • Different production good receipt interim storage type by workcenter

    Hello,
When a semifinished material is produced and 101 movement is performed, material is located at interim storage type 901.
As each workcenter is responsible of staging material produced on his area, in order to have an accurate control of the materials that are still pending of staging in a workcenter, we want to have a different interim storage type for each workcenter.
How can we achieve that, without using different movements types for each workcenter?
thanks a lot for your help,
    Hannover,

    Hi
Pls analyse the below mentioned scenario whether its suitable for your business process
In case if you receive a particular material X from work center A and material Y from work center B , that is what i meant to say is if there is a clear demorgation between materials from a particular work center (Material X will be received only from work center A not from any other work center) then you can use the special movement indicator in the material master and in the ref mvt type-WM mvt type linkage you can mention the special mvt indicator for a WM mvt type and assign the relevant storage type in the WM mvt type level config settings
In this case you need to create multiple WM mvt types not ref/IM mvt types and assign different interium storge types to the relevant WM mvt types.

  • Putaway quantity does not show in Interim Storage Type 916

    Hi all,
It could be a silly quesiton however would need your help with the issue below.
When I create Picking TO from Outbound Delivery, usually I will see the Pick Quantity from Source Storage Bin and Putaway Quantity showed in Interim Storage Type 916. However, for the warehouse I'm working on I could not see the Putaway Quantity showing in Sty 916, only Picking Quantity displayed from source storage bin.
For example, I created picking TO# 17439 to pick stock from storage type 001 to destination storage type 916. Here I only see the 'Pick Quantity' showing in storage type 001. I don't see 'Putaway Quantity' shows in Storage Type 916.
Would appreciate if anyone can provide some advices. Thanks.

Hi Jurgen, I have cancelled the TO above for some other tests. I have created a new delivery, please see the new TO#17442 with LT21:

  • Bins in the interim storage type

    Hi
The client has a requirement where the interim storage type 902 (GR Area External Receipts) needs to be bin managed. i.e. it should be possible to select the bins manually. Std. system has PO no. as dynamic bin. Is this possible? If yes, how??
    Thanks in advance
    DB

    yes, this is possible..
Check the documentation(sap library) on this for details..

  • Storage Bin for Interim Storage Type 902 for GR

    Hi,
We know that the the dynamic storage bin for goods receipt for PO is the PO number. However, when we are posting GR, system creates TR with interim storage bin as material document number.
I looked into the movement type config. However, we can only state that whether interim bin should be cordinates or fixed bin or dynamic bin. It has no way to mention what that dynamic bin would be.
Can you please suggest a way to change the dynamic storage bin as PO number instead of material document number.
    Thanks,
    Shekhar

    Dear Shekhar,
Could you please check in view V_T308 (transaction code OMNF) whether the indicator "Dynamic bin material document" is set for your warehouse number and requirement type B?
    Best regards,
    Christiane

  • Manual (Dynamic) Interim Destination Storage Type instead of 916 for Outbound delivery T.O

    HI,
we would like to create transfer order manually for outbound delivery.here both source and destination need to be given manual
i know that the interim storage type 916 given in the interface movement type , while T.O creation for the outbound delivery
we would like to have the destination interim storage type as a manual entry so i kept both destination and source storage type blank, and system permits to do picking (T.O Creation  )
Created Transfer Order, with source and destination details and confirmed T.O.
But when i do the goods issue getting error as
Storage bin MT1   does not exist (check your entry)
    Message no. L9009
when i checked table LIPS-  LGTYP and   LGPLA , both fields are empty.
Please let me know how can i make this functionality.
    Thanks.

The requirement is , my interim storage areas are real storage areas, for which goods are issued the stock goes to interim storage area and PGI will be made after verification ,but the interim storage area is dependent on the customer , not a fixed one which we will know only when we deliver the goods .
I use that process too, with verification on the final storage area before shipping, but what I do is to use SD in conjunction with WM. I use the gates in the Outbound Delivery, to separate the stock, since WM creates a bin in 916 for each delivery document and I can use that to know in which gate each quant is.
That way, everything goes to 916, but I have a report that tells me which stock is near each gate, so I can run the audit process before shipping.
It's not completely standard, but WM standard is very hard to use without an additional UI layer on top anyway.

  • Stock transfer Order goods receipt puts goods into storage type 902 Q

How do we configure the STO GR to use storage type 917 as our purchase oders do?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Please check your settings in WM-IM interface (SPRO > LE > WM > Interfaces > IM > Define Movement Types). HEre you can check which WM-mvt belongs to (trough reference mvt) the IM-mvt.
After that (knowing which WM-mvt is to be modified), in SPRO > LE > WM > Activities > Transfers > Define Movement Types, you can define the interim storage type for your WM-mvt (please take care of choosing the proper WH & mvt combination).

  • WM-Backflushed materials issued from different storage type

Hello my client has an issue in WH Service order issue
we face the problem that articles which are marked for back flushing aren't properly handled by the system with service orders. In normal production orders when the activity is closed on which the articles are set, the back flushing items are atomically issued from warehouse type 100 (location Backflush according to the rules set by LPK1,2,3) however when the activity of an Service order is closed the items are issued from warehouse type 914 creating and imbalance in WM. Please Is it a configuration issue or any other issue i should liik in to.
Kindly guide me to handle this.
    Regards
    Bheema

    Hi,
Please check  for service orders, yu should check CRATE parts and RELEASE ORDER parts. In their control cycles in LPK1/LPK2 you can define from which storage type / bin they are consumed when you book consumption against your PrdOrdservice order.
At the time of backflushing (in standard system) the components will go to 914+dynamic bin (or fixed bin, based on your settings). Normally TR creation is set on WM/IM interface and processing the TR you can move the components from WM to interim storage type 914. Thanking you.

  • Batch Determination in SD - Fixed Storage Type

    Hi,
We have enable automatic batch determination at the delivery stage (VL01N). for example:
    Plant: 1000
    Storage Location: 3000
    Warehouse number: 300
    Storage type in warehouse number 300: 910,911,912, NF1, NF2, NF3
In SD batch determination process in some cases batch are select from storage type 910 or 912 or NF1 (depend on unrestricted use), how to configure in SD batch determination configuration for always select batch´s from fixed storage type (in this case NF1 or NF2 or NF3).

Nice idea, but what is your plan if no other batch is there, and all stock is in the interim storage type?
From my point of view it does not really matter where the process flow stucks, if you wait for batch assignment in delivery until the batch is in its real bin or if you do the assignment right away and the creation of WM-TO stucks until the quant is moved from the interim storage type to its final bin.
You just have to understand that batch determination and source bin determination serves usually different needs.
I usually search for a by certain quality figures to meet my customers requirement. Or by age,  to always issue the oldes stuff first.
A interim storage type is a warehouse internal thing, as I already said, nothing phyiscal. And in WM you use the storage bin search to determine the bin from where you can pick the desired material and batch.
My batch determination is setup to execute automatically when delivery is created. My deliveries are either created manually at the shipping office or automatically with a batch job.
Instead of using LT03 we have to use LB10 to create a WM-TO.  Of course this will fail if the quant is locked because of an open TO or if the storage type where it physically resides is not includes in the search.

  • ECC6.0 WM creation of one TO per Storage Type

    Hello,
I'm currently implementing WM at my customer using various Storage Types. During testing we created GR in IM for 2 materials (in one document), one of them is relevant to quality inspection but the other one is not.
TO creation has been done automatically (as expected) from interim storage type 902 GR area) to interim storage type 917 (quality area) for the first position. Also a position for the second line has been created from 902 to storage type 042 (main shelf).
Technically this is all OK. However I was expecting to have 2 TO's instead of 1 TO with 2 positions. How can I trigger the system to create a seperate TO per destination storage type?
    Thanks beforehand big time!

  • Production Order backflush creating Negative in Storage Type

    Hi All,
We have setup storage types into which stock is replenished based on Min/Max. These storage types have been setup in a control cycle and supply area to backflush upon confirmation of the production order.
I know this is user error, but when doing confirmation (CO15) or clearing COGI the user enters a batch not in one of those storage types (but available at IM level), it creates a negative in these storage types for that batch even though the storage types are setup NOT to allow negative stock.
Is there any other setting or any notes that can be applied to avoid this issue?
    Thanks
    J

    OSS note 489754:
The settings in Customizing which define that no negative stocks are allowed for the storage type, have only an effect on the transfer orders. In addition, you must also set message L9040 as an error message. For this, call up the Customizing and branch to: 'Logistics Execution -> Warehouse Management -> Interfaces -> Inventory Management -> Allow negative Stocks in Interim Storage Types'. There, execute point 'Control of System Messages in Warehouse Management' and enter message type 'E' for message number L9040.
