IPad Gmail Issue

I am unable to connect to my Gmail account using the Mail app on my home network, however I am able to connect just fine at work. It tells me it is unable to connect to the server so I am assuming that some settings need to be changed on my Time Capsule. Maybe some ports that need to be opened up? Anybody have any ideas on what I need to do?

I have been able to set up another e-mail address through the Mail App on my iPad (Comcast e-mail) so it doesn't look like the setting on my Time Capsule are the issue. It appears to be the Comcast server preventing me from connecting with the Gmail server. I called Comcast and they told me it doesn't look like I will be able to connect to the Gmail Server which I don't believe. Anybody else able to connect to their Gmail account on the Mail App while using Comcast Internet? What did you have to do to make it work?

Am I the only one who is still have GMail issues using the Smart Mailbox? I can't retrieve any of my emails on my GMail accounts let alone delete add and delete the account.

I've been having this problem for a while myself, ever since after the first Mail update. Today's OS update didn't help either, and I just submitted Feedback to Apple, for the second time, having done it a few weeks ago to.
I tried deleting the GMail accounts and recreating them, both from within Mail and then within the System Preferences panel. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason. After initially opening Mail, it works fine and retrieves messages for a while, and then ... it doesn't. Choosing "Get Mail" won't retrieve any email, but choosing "Synchronize All Accounts" does. Also, if I perform any action beyond simply reading an email, it will retrieve the email from that mailbox. That is, if I reply to or delete a message, it retrieves any messages at that time too.
It's REALLY annoying that two updates later, something which seems like it should be relatively simple still doens't work.

Ipad & gmail

I use both yahoo & gmail on ipad.
yahoo mail is worked without fault for 18months on ipad.
gmail is an enduring mystery and I have wasted countless hours trying to figure out inconsistencies between its behaviour on my PC and on ipad.
Latest instalment for example:
1. Changed gmail password on PC.
2. gmail on ipad would not then work.
3. gmail on ipad via browser would not accept new password that had been set on PC
4. I did a password reset request on ipad via browser and received password change link on my yahoo (recovery) email
5. Using link I reset gmail password on ipad
6. The alternate email recovery address was blank - even though I had entered an alternate recovery address on this gmail on PC.
7. Tried adding the same alternate recovery email address as already entered on PC and it gave error - already in use on another account !
8. gmail now OK on ipad and via browser on ipad.
9. new password set on ipad now works on pc.
I am in the process of clearing out and closing my gmail account but need to use it until I have notified everyone of new address.In the meantime can anyone tell me if this is a known bug or just a feature?

You can do either, access the webmail Gmail through Safari, or another iPad browser, or configure the Mail app to access your Gmail account. Gmail in Safari on the iPad is not the same as in a browser on the computer. Gmail obviously has a mobile device version that presents to Safari on the iPad. Whether you accessed your account in Safari or with the Mail app, you will have a new environment to learn.

Sorry but what is the definition of "inline" videos, I wanna be really sure (i'm not english / in my language my videos are "inline" videos: videos put inside the document).)
On some apps I made, some videos work, some don't. And
one of the main issues are
- they launch full screen when they're not supposed to (i want them to launch in a definite area)
- they dont launch full screen when they're supposed to (when they're suppposed to play in full screen, they just do not appear: black screen)

Double tap Home button, delete Mail from multitask-bar.
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.

IMessage not working on 5S and iPad Air issues

iMessage not working on 5S. Had 3 online chats with apple support but still not fixed. iPad air issues also; safari shuts down a lot on mine and my husbands iMessage not working. iMessage works on his 5S. Never had so many issues with Apple before. I receive SMS messages on 5S but no iMessage. It was suggested to me that I get a new sim or try another wifi, both seem odd given everything else works.
My husband and I got our phones the same day, his works right, mine doesn't.
iPad airs were purchased a month apart, mine works ok apart from safari shutdowns and his iMessage not working.
Also the slider to answer calls on both phones not always working. Had to reboot one of them and it forced us to set it up again from scratch.
Any ideas?

IPad air issues

I am having problems with my iPad air the wifi keeps disconnecting and is slow loading up I know the problem is with the iPad asit he wife has the ipad 2 which is out performing the iPad air.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

IPad connectivety issues

I have an iPad 2 using 6.1.3 and the Wifi connection within my house outside the room with router is really weak.
I notice when I go to public WIfi locations, I have weak or no signal.
This has been an issue since May 2012.
In these same locations my Macbook Pro connects with no issues.
What is the solution?

Some things to try first:

Hi guys,
1) I'm currently running a trial copy of CS6, Air 3.2, and I get 'App descriptor cannot parse file' error whenever I try to modify the xml file.
I'm just trying to remove the icon shine, which worked fine in Flash 5.5.

Also, I tried inserting the 144x144 icon, which published ok, but didn't seem to work. And that line of code later disappeared from
the xml.
2) My mac is Snow Leopard, so I take it I have to upgrade to Lion (do I have to buy it, or is it free to developers?!)
If I then get the latest XCode, and target ios 5.1 with Retina display, will my apps still be compatible on devices with iOS 4?

Changing iPad gmail view to show inbox only

Sorry to bug, but this is frustrating and searching here and online isn't turning up what I'm looking for.
Just purchased a refurbished iPad 3 and downloaded the Gmail App.
Is there a way to get a 'full screen' view of my inbox on the iPad Gmail App?
I want the default view to be my inbox, similar to how it appears on my normal Mac. However, I'm getting some sort of side inbox, which as I scroll down, opens whatever message I tap on a window on the right.

Thse forums are littered with threads from folks who would disagree with you that these outside accounts work seemlessly with iOS devices.
I have a Gmail and a Hotmail account. I configured both of them to forward mail to my iCloud account. That works seamlessly and my iOS devices are staying within the ecosystem and not having to constantly negitiate with the other mail servers.

Mail and Gmail issues in Snow Leopard

I've used Gmail with Mail for years, and it has suddenly stopped behaving. Mostly it takes *forever* for a message to be sent, but downloading messages can also take it's sweet time. I have several Gmail address I check, all are doing this. iPad and iPhone both work fine, so the issue seems to be isolated to the laptop.
I'm running Snow Leopard on a MacBookPro from mid-2009.

Yes. I'm having a whole series of problems with Mail.app and GMail. The problems are pretty well documented (links below), but I haven't seen any good fixes or heard any indication that Apple is taking them seriously.

In addition to archived emails returning to the inbox, I'm seeing significant delays in new mail appearing in my inbox: sometimes as long as hours after the mail appears on my iPhone and in the GMail web console.

GMail issues in iOS

I have been frequently running into an issue that iOS mail can't get e-mail. I get the error "Cannot Get Mail, the user name or password for Gmail is incorrect" I can delete the account and set it up again in settings and have no problem but then it won't fetch my mail. issue occurs on both my iPad Air and iPhone 5S both running iOS 7.12. I have no problem in Mac Mail or in a browser.
Any ideas??

Sadly, this does not appear to be the issue. After a day with it working, I now get the same error regardless of how I try to connect (other than through the browser). OS X on two computers, iOS on an iPad and an iPhone.

Gmail issue

A colleague and both use iPads, iPhones and MacBook Pros. We are working on a website where we both need to use Gmail accounts. We have both successfully set up our individual accounts our our iPads and iPhones and I have also done this on my MacBook Pro.
However, despite various attempts, my colleague cannot get the Gmail account on her MacBook Pro to work.
So, yesterday, using her Gmail account details, I tried on my machine. It worked and I was able to send and receive. I then deleted the account.
She deleted the account from her machine, rebooted and tried again, twice, but to no avail. We have checked all the settings, including port and everything seems to be identical.
Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
I suggest doing the following steps in the order listed:
1) Login to the BIS site for your carrier and delete both Gmail accounts.
2) Delete all CMIME related service books for the Gmail address.
3) Do a hard reset of the device
4) Setup your Gmail account via PC and send service books
Check your Gmail is correct the refreshed service books should also make Yahoo appear as normal in the message queue.
