Ipak variable selection using ABAP

Hi All
I am trying to set the value of a selection variable in an Ipak using ABAP using the following code
l_t_range-low = datetime.
l_t_range-sign = 'I'.
l_t_range-option = 'GT'.
I need to extract records with a timestamp greater than the value set in l_t_range-low.
However I get the error message
For sel. Field 'xxxxxxx', No selection with SIGN='I', OPTION 'GT' allowed.
I could use BETWEEN as a workaround but is there anything obviously wrong with the above code.

In our case we had a requirement to load the data for the transactions occuring in the last 15 days only, so we have write the routine on the last modified date feild in the infopackage.so as to select only records modified or created in the last 15 days..
attached is the sample code....
data: l_idx like sy-tabix.

    As you know standard way of development of exit variables is to isert ABAP code directy in main include of the exit.
    However with a big number of exits and serveral teams working in parallel, this is not a good practice. I've herad about projects using ABAP OO to encapsulate and isolate code of every exit.
    Do you have an experience with usiage of ABAP OO to code exits? Could you provide structure you use (e.g. one class for all exits with different mentods, one class for every exit etc.) with some code samples?
    BTW - yes, I have read the blog /people/ed.herrmann/blog/2007/01/16/simplify-your-bw-enhancements-for-global-reporting-variables and appreciate work of its author, but this is not enough for me - I cannot import in the system custom code that I do not know what is exactly doing. I preffer to  undestand better whole concept. Especially when it requires download and installation of some SAPlink plugins

    Hi Marcin,
    In the internet you can find some recommendations to modularize the code using an ABAP OO class
    (e.g.http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/40ef17ee-3833-2c10-fc96-cd4a421b7e95&overridelayout=true ).
    Nevertheless it is more convenient to use the following code for this issue. It allows the creation of
    several function groups to support splitting the variables for different applications/projects into
    different function groups. This allows to group variables together in different function groups and has the benefit that not every developer is affected e.g. by a syntax error in the class or include.

    So In RSPLF1 , in paramters tab, Do i have create structure(str1) and then create component Data selection (Dtsel1) under str1(what setting i have to do here, where should i enter variable value and do i need to give info object name and how do it in code.i tried to following example, not able to get any values in tab_sel .

  • InfoSpoke data selection using variables in BW 3.5?

    Hi Gang!
    Can InfoSpokes select data using variables in BW 3.5?
    I would like create a "functional" delta process using an Full mode load and a variable to select "yesterday" from a date field. My ETL and external database partners would prefer to not deal with multiple before and after images from a single document item from a ODS. I was hoping I could use a variable selection against a date-time stamp, but I don't see how.
    AM I be forced to use a BADI?

    One crude option would be to add an ABAP step prior to the infospoke execution, in this step code can be added to modify the corresponding record in table RSBSPOKESELSET (for selection values on date/time characteristics).

  • Read Infopackage selection from a table using ABAP

    Hello Experts,
    I have a flat file consisting of 3 columns which I want to use as selection fields for the Infopackage. Now, is it possible to load this flat file to an ODS or a master data table and then write some ABAP  in the Infopackage to read the values of the columns and populate the selection fields.
    This is what I want: The columns of the flat file are  - Company Code, Doc number, Fiscal Year
    Now, I loaded this file into a tables (around 2 million records) and then use ABAP to populate the entire file into the selection tab of the Infopackage.
    What would be the best approach for this?

    Hi,
    It's possible in theory. Just one thing, too many selections in an InfoPackage may not work (I remember about 1,000 or 10,000, not very sure).
    I'd like suggest loading a range rather than so many selections. For example, say you have below documents:
    1000
    1001
    1005
    1010
    Then just load from 1000 to 1010, and create a start routine in your update rule/transformation. There you can do this:
    1. select records from the table where you store flat file, using the same selection (1000 to 1010)
    2. For every records in DATA_PACKAGE, using READ TABLE statement to check whether that record exist in the table. If not exist then simply delete it from DATA_PACKAGE
    I think that would have much better performance. Let us know if you have further questions.

  • Variable Substitution not working when using ABAP mapping

    Hi all,
    I am doing an IDoc to File scenario.
    Due to some complex mapping requirements, i had to use ABAP mapping for IDoc to File ( IDoc : SHPMNT05)
    There is also one more requirement where in i need to generate the receiver filename dynamically
    i.e the filename is of the form :     
        GW-XYZ-DD/MM/YYYY.csv
    Where
    XYZ is the Shipment number (E1EDT20- TKNUM)
    DD/MM/YYYY is the IDOC creation date in ECC (EDIDC-CREDAT)
    so i used the variable substitution option in receiver file adapter.
    But its not working.
    Is there any limitation for using the variable Substitution, doesnt variable substitution work in case of ABAP mapping?

      u written ABAP mapping program to get the file name in the required format ,
    is it rt?
    when u test it at message mapping(including ABAP map program)
    u get the the required format of file name in the one of target filed.
    if that was fine, please check the variable substituiton parameters at receiver file adapter.
    i mean, are u maintain variable name and refernece.
    u have to specify the payload information.

  • How to use Keyfigures in the Bex variable selection screen.

    Hi,
    I have a scenario, where the user whats to see the keyfigures like volume, amount in the variable selection screen, so that he can dynamically, set the condition according to his requirement.
    For example , he wants to see all the PO's for a particular calmonth which have volume >  1 Million or on someother day, he may input the value as volume > 2Million or Volume < 0 , so it depends. Similarly he wants to dynamically select the Amount values.
    I have tried using condition with "greater than"and value as a formula variable and it works for one condition, but if I add another condition i.e, "less than"and value as a formula variable then it conflicts and the query is throughing below error.
    "ERROR BRAIN (418): Variable ZCS_VAR_CH_KG_LT (DC015DZ850NUYVFDMPJHRGHXW) does not exist or is incorrectly used 4 Volume"."".
    Do we have a option to use customer exit in such a scenario ??, any suggestions please.

  • Need to skip the variable selection screen when using dropdown

    Hello Friends,
    I have created a web template having a dropdown, a table and a text element. Basically I am trying to follow the guide "How to Use a Dropdown Box to Set Variable Values". It shows how to select values for a variable using dropdown.

    What is happening is when I select a value for the variable in the dropdown, the correct url is getting formed but instead of displaying the report using the selected value, the variable selection screen appears. Given below is the url that gets formed:

    Thanks for your reply. This has partially resovled the issue. I have awarded you points for that. Now I am able to skip the variable screen.
    However, the query results are not getting refreshed. I wanted to restirct the values based on the value given in the variable selection (In my case the dropdown box). Somehow I am not able to link the dropdown with the variable or the "SAPBWOpenURL(url);" function is having some issues.

    In dashboard prompt I have made four dropdowns(have four presentation variables) and based on these values selected,can the Query Builder generate dynamic reports based on the presentation variables selected?

    - OK. In the second prompt, instead of setting Default to SQL Results, set it to Specific Value.
    - Then insert '{pres_var}' in the window. I got it to work this way.
    - It supplied the PV as the default in the second prompt after hitting "Go" on the first prompt.
    Hi, thanks for your suggestion but I don't need to have the value of the presentation variable itself as the prompt default. The variable is a filter for a specific SQL clause and the default is the result of this SQL.

  • Extraction problem - selection conditions for data load using abap program

    Hi All,
           I have a problem loading data over a selected period where the selection of date range is done using ABAP routine (type 6). Here though in the request header tab in monitor screen i'm able to see the selection date range populated correctly, no records are being extracted. But if i delete the abap filter and directly give the same date range for selection we are able to extract data. if any body has faced similar problem and have a solution for it please help me with yur suggestion.

    It seems the the data range is not properly set in the routine.
    You can check the value of selection period generated by routine in the data selection tab-> execute button is there .
    Click it to to test the selection values generated by the ABAP routine..
    If the value here seems correct one then paste the code of the routine that u have written with brief logic details that u have applied.

    I want to use ABAP routine to determine value range of data selection in Data Package but when I use routine for one field, selection criterias for other fields are ignored, e.g.:
    in Data Package I have two selection fields:
    CPUDT     Accounting Document Entry Date
    AEDAT     Date of the Last Document Change by Transaction
    For CPUDT I wrote ABAP routine
    and for AEDAT I have just typed in period of time.
    I started data extraction and open Monitor for this Data Package.
    At Header tag I checked selections info and there is selection only for CPUDT.
    Could somebody explain me is it normal system behaviour?

  • Performance issues with query input variable selection in ODS

    Hi everyone
    We've upgraded from BW 3.0B to NW04s BI using SP12.
    There is a problem encountered with input variable selection. This happens regardless of using BEx (new or old 3.x) or using RSRT. When using the F4 search help (or "Select from list" in BEx context) to list possible values, this takes forever for large ODS (containing millions of records).
    Using ST01 and SM50 to trace the code in the same query, we see a difference here:

    In 3.0B, rownum is limited to 500 and this results in a speedy, though limited query. In the new NW04s BI, this renders the selection screen unusable as ABAP dumps for timing out will occur first due to the large data volume searched using sequential read.
    It will not be feasible to create indexes for every single query selection parameter (issues with oerformance when loading, space required etc.). Is there a reason why SAP seems have fallen back on a less effective code for this?
    I have tried to change the number of selected rows to <500 in BEx settings but one must reach a responsive screen in order to get to that setting and it is not always possible or saved for the next run.
    Anyone with similar experience or can provide help on this?

    here is a reason why the F4 help on ODS was faster in BW 3.x.
    In BW 3.x the ODS did not support the read mode "Only values in
    InfoProvider". So If I compare the different SQL statements I propose
    to change the F4 mode in the InfoProvider specific properties to
    "About master data". This is the fastest F4 mode.
    As an alternative you can define indexes on your ODS to speed up F4.
    So would need a non-unique index on InfoObject 0COMP_CODE in your ODS

  • Limit list of values in variable selection screen

    Hi
    Apologies if this has been asked / answered elsewhere, but I thought I would put it out there, at least while I continue trying to find a solution.
    We have a requirement to limit the data from which a user is allowed to select values in the variable selection screen. I know how to write the ABAP code that will return the list of data from which the user can choose, but not sure how to implement that in the query variable.
    Essentially, the BEx query needs an input on username, and the current user should be able to choose from a list of usernames. That list of usernames should only be usernames to which the current user has access.
    Don't worry about the linking of current user to user names, that is taken care of in our DSO.
    What I am after, is limiting the data that comes back when the "F4 Help" type button is pressed on the variable screen.
    I can default a value in the customer exit variable using ABAP code in the i_step = 1 loop, but that doesn't seem to effect the list of data available for selection.
    Any decent ideas?

    Hi Andrew,
    As charlie suggested go for Analysis authorization that is the simplest approach to restrict values for any object, in another way you can use following BADI for value restriction using ABAP code, refer the below link.

    By using customer exit you can only populate default values but you will not be able to restrict F4 help values.
