IPhone 4 promised

I am writing this email to let you know the frustration I have been having.  I have been a Verizone customer for over 8 years.  I have been offered cheaper deals by other cell phone providers, but I have always stayed with Verizon because of Verizon’s excellent services.  When my work decided to buy me a second cell phone, I insisted that it was a Verizon phone and not an AT&T phone.
On August 3rd , I called the tech support number.  After being transferred several times I found a person that told me I could get a iPohne 4.  He asked me what color I wanted and said that I should be getting the phone in the mail.  He said my monthly charge would increase by $20 and I would have to pay a one time fee of $30.
I called Verizon today and was told that there was no phone ordered for me and I don’t qualify for a phone.  I want the phone that I was promised.
the 800 922 0204 number keeps giving me the run around.  How can I email someone and get the phone I was promised?

Thank you for the reply.  Our upgrade date is 9/2014.  The representative did tell us he was going to make an exception.
You are over a year a way from upgrade eligibility - why the rep said he could make it happen is beyond me ... and with the iPhone, it definitely is not going to happen.  Apple allows NO early upgrades.
If your heart is set on an iPhone, check Craig's List or eBay or Swappa and see if you can find one that won't require you to be eligible, and won't change the date you will be eligible.
I am a bit confused though - with an eligibility date of 9/2014, it means your current phone is less than a year old, and you also mentioned your employer providing you with a phone - yet you need an iPhone 4 ?(older model, which you probably can find for a good price from a third party)?  Guess it's none of my business why, but it does seem odd.

  • WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE: $200 credit per iphone 5 trade in: Promised by GoWireless in Chino Hills & Verizon Account Manager, But Not Addressed in Over 4 Months

    Hello everyone,
I just had the WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE with a Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer (Go Wireless in Chino Hills) and a Verizon Account Manager.
Through a ridiculous saga of events, I finally had to send an email to a customer service supervisor with screenshots, outlined below to try to resolve.
Besides this, is there anything else I can to do address this situation?
I don't want any Verizon Wireless customer to EVER go through this.
Please see the detailed email below for reference.
    Hi Laura,
I am also including GoWireless customer service on this email due to the incredibly TERRIBLE customer service I received from their employees.
As we discussed over the phone, I am contacting about the terrible, dishonest, and incompetent customer service I received regarding my upgrading of iPhone 6 through GoWireless Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer located at The Shoppes at Chino Hills, 13925 City Center Drive, Chino Hills.  Their phone number is 909-465-5840.
I will send the screenshots of the text conversation I had with GoWireless salesperson (Will) over the course of almost 2 months, in an attempt to receive the $200 per iPhone trade in credits that he and GoWireless had promised me when I upgraded my phone to an iPhone 6.
As the text message screenshots will show (and a follow up emails, as this maximum has a maximum capacity issue), I was continually following up with Will over the course of 2 months regarding receiving the credits.  Throughout the conversation, he kept indicating that he would address it.  As the text messages will show, he never resolved it and I had to continually pursue getting the credits owed to m e.
After this, I contacted GoWireless corporate customer service and complained about the situation.  GoWireless customer service indicated that they would help me resolve the situation.  So they ended up contacting the store manager, Aaron.
Aaron then contacted me, after corporate customer service contacted him.  Aaron assured me that he would address this and ensure I received the credits I was promised in the original transaction.
Aaron eventually punted me to a Verizon Account Manager during this past January.  That account manager's number is 619-756-2100.  I will attach the screenshots of the text messages I had with that individual for reference.
That Account Manager indicated that he would just apply the $200 per phone credit to my account since my family had to go through so much trouble and hassle over so many months.
After waiting for a month and not hearing from him, I reached out to him via text a few weeks ago.  He did not respond and I sent 2 subsequent texts to follow up, and he never responded.
It was at this point I called Verizon customer service and complained about this issue, this past Saturday (2/21).  As the voice recording for that conversation will show, the customer service rep indicated that she would try to apply the $200 per phone credit and that I should call back within 48 hours if I don't receive the credit on my account.
As I didn't see the credits applied today, I called customer service and spoke to you eventually about this situation.
While I appreciate your help in trying to resolve this, I would like to make a note of the following:
    1. GoWireless sales representative WILL was INCOMPETENT and/or DISHONEST in applying my credits.  As the text messages show, the ONLY reason my family purchased the phones were because of the $200 per phone credit.
    2. GoWireless store manager AARON is INCOMPETENT and/or DISHONEST about this situation.
As you heard today on the call, Aaron tried to pass the blame onto me first, saying I didn't turn the phone in on time.  This was despite the fact that I had been corresponding with Will over text and spoke specifically with Aaron the situation.  They were the reason that I "didn't turn my phone in on time"  Either Aaron "forgot" our conversation around this whole situation or was intentionally being deceitful.
Aaron then tried to pass the blame to the Verizon district manager, saying that it was something that that district manager to handle.
This situation indicates Aaron's inability to take responsibility (he tried to blame shift the issue) and be accountable for his actions.  I am appalled that a large entity like GoWireless would employ such a person in a management position.
    3. Verizon Wireless account manager (phone number 619-756-2100) is INCOMPETENT or DISHONEST about this situation.  He indicated that he would help resolve this and he did not, and, in fact, has ignored my attempts to contact him over the past few weeks.  I am shocked that such a person could be given responsibility to service customer accounts.
    4. As we discussed, I'm am also going to put a formal complaint detailing out this situation on Verizon Wireless forums.  I don't think any customer deserves to go through this type of experience.  It is completely ASININE, ABSURD, and HORRIBLE that a customer has had to keep following up on this over the past 4 months.  Even arranging a conference call today with Aaron and you!
The lack of professionalism and integrity of Will, Aaron, and the Verizon Account Manager is unbelievable!
    5. Is there anyway that I can pull my account from GoWireless considering the situation.  I don't think Aaron and his team are capable of honestly servicing any customers.
As I indicated, I will send a follow up email with the additional screenshots for your reference to show the set that I have.
I hope we can finally resolve this situation and my family FINALLY gets the $200 per phone credits promised to us in the original transaction.
    Thank you.

Holy cow... That was a marathon as opposed to a sprint....  Since the iphone has such a good resale value, I agree - next time ebay.
i Am glad you finally got the cards.  They should just credit the account.
As I see the same complaint on AT&T forum, the trade in programs are flawed, universally.

  • Iphone 5 makes a rattling noise from day 1, the replacement also makes this similar noise. customer care can provide me with another replacement but can not promise if the new replacement will have this noise or not. can i get a refund ?

my iphone 5 from day one makes a rattling noise when you shake the device.
the replacement i recieved also makes the similar rattling noise, apple calls it a "common problem" and says its the autofocus of the camera which makes the noise, but people i know are not experiencing any such noise in their evices, hence its not their in all the iphone.
honestly investing Rs 45000 in india i dont expect my device to have a stupid defect as this one,
In my latest conversation i have had with a senior representative of apple care iv been given an option to have anpther replacement but they cant promise me that the new replacemnt will have no such rattling noise it might be even worse.
since apple cant promise me a replacement without any such noise and my device is not even 90 days old, and since apple calls it a common problem in iphone5 is it possible that they give me replacement of 5c or 5s and il pay the difference in price or just have a refund ? since they cant provide me with a solution and keeping this device with this defect is not a solution with me.

Sorry if it's over 14 days apple does not refund the device, just sit tight and keep on asking for a device that doesn't rattle, be firm but polite about your position on the matter.
    Politeness works wonders

  • Why Doesn't O2 give us the Iphone services as promised?

O2 promise the services when they took on the Iphone. But i can't get Edge ANYWHERE. Google locate me never works. But i have read that it does with other networks. It's very disappointing. Anyone else think this or is it just me?

    Tamara wrote:
If you're not using O2, why are you complaining about it?
I expect that he is basing his opinion on not being able to receive Edge on his current 02 phone, and hence wondering whether he will be able to access it on the iPhone, when he buys it, if it is available solely on the iPhone 02 tariff, but not on the standard 02 tariffs. The answer in both cases is no: if he can't get Edge on his current phone, he won't be able to get it on the iPhone either.
If I'm correct, then all that can be done is to contact 02 to see when Edge will be available in his area, and wait until then to buy the iPhone.

  • Iphone 6 trade-up NOT as promised!

I've seen other threads so I know I am not alone.  I put a perfectly functional iPhone4 appraised at $200 into the flimsy, required envelope provided me and said a little prayer.  Fast forward to today when I get the "great news" that my $36 is available to me.  Say what??  Verizon Customer Service is unable to help, and the phone number they transfer you to is "experiencing high volume" and hangs up on you!!!!  I've been a Verizon customer since before they were Verizon, and have never experienced anything like this - it seems like blatant dishonesty!  I'm assuming they will say - assuming I can EVER actually reach someone - that my phone was cracked.  Shocker.  Did anyone test those ridiculous envelopes??  I feel utterly deceived and sick to my stomach, not to mention $164 dollars poorer.  I expected more.  And the worst part is there is apparently no way to speak to someone who can actually help me get what I was promised, or make this right somehow.  Seriously considering defecting to Sprint.  Never, ever thought I'd say that.  Has anyone had any luck getting to a person with the ability to help?

Okay, JenniferH_VZW.....I can relate to the frustration experienced by StephanieS.  When Verizon was running their promotion for "getting up to $299 rebate back on your old iPhone, when you order a new iPhone 6 or 6+", the system you had in place to easily direct customers on how to actually fulfill this promotion weren't terribly clear. I went online to
Verizon's website, read about the promotion, and then completed the submission form to see what I would most likely receive for my old iPhone 4. It is in good condition, so the website confirmed that I would receive $199 (which is the most that they would give me for an iPhone 4 16 gb), depending of course on what the actual phone looked like when they received it.  I completed this form online, and tried to print out the final page, but unfortunately, it didn't print. It was a little glitchy as I was trying to complete the form, as well, as I would completely fill in all the information, and then it would just sit and think, and never go any further.  When I finally got it to go though, I guess I assumed that Verizon would have a record of this when it came time to return my old phone.  No such luck.  I received an email from Verizon  confirming the order of my new iPhone, which I actually ordered by phone from Verizon, because I wanted to confirm with a living person that I was expecting to participate in the rebate program where I would receive credit for my old phone. The representatives all acted like it would be fine, and that I would be receiving packing materials to return my old phone in, once I had received my new phone, which was on backorder and wouldn't ship until 10/24/14. Original order date was 9/26/14.  I got an confirmation email for my phone order, but no mention of a submission ID #,
except a blurb reminding me to fill out the online submission form in order to receive the promotional credit. I had already done this, so it didn't occur to me to do it again. Got my new IPhone 6+, as promised, just a few days after the
10/24/14 ship date, but there were no materials included to return the old phone for the promotional rebate. I remembered someone saying that I would be receiving some return packaging in the mail, but haven't received that yet either. So I started calling Verizon, and have now talked to 3 or 4 different reps, only one of whom seemed to really understand how to help me out.  Verizon has done a terrible job of training their reps on how to help people in this situation. One rep sent me to the "Returns" department, where I was greeted and then transferred and then disconnected, one rep seemed completely befuddled by the whole situation, and kept waiting for a supervisor to get to his station so she could talk to me. In a desperate attempt to help me, he at one point had me putting my old iPhone 4 in the HopeLine plastic recycle bag that came with my new phone, while printing out some return label from somewhere else to put over the printed return address on the bag.....I told him that there was copy on the bag telling me not to use the bag for mail-in rebates.....I called 611 again to see if I could get a different rep who would know more. I finally was directed to go to trade-in.vzw.com, where I found a number to call and talk to them directly. The first person I spoke with gave me the number for Verizon customer service....Lordy!  I called the trade-in number again, and got someone to send me some packaging to return my phone in, and she said that someone fromVerizon would be calling or emailing me...we'll see. This has taken WAY too much of my time. Extremely inefficent for myself and for all the poor Verizon reps who haven't been educated on how to advise people like me, in this situation.

  • My iTunes will ONLY backup my iPhone ONCE *SO* VERY quickly, almost as if it's done nothing... (not the three options for rollback as promised) HELP! Please Read...

    Hi there,
thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this, but, my iTunes will perform a backup on my iPhone ONCE. By which I mean, it will do another new backup again if I want it to, and that's all fine... but it's supposed to hold (I think) THREE states of backup that the user has saved at various points in order that the user can choose and rollback/restore from whichever one they want.
There is none of that. I get the drop-down menu if I choose to restore... but it's pointless as there's only ever one option.
At the moment, no matter how close together I perform the backups, or how far apart... I get ONE backup saved in my iTunes.
As far as I can tell this is also ONE backup between iCloud or the computer. i.e. I don't get one for each. Just whichever I performed most recently.
iTunes absolutely DID NOT used to do this. I used to get the three options and it took a little bit of a wait for the backup process to go through fully.
Can anybody help or shed some light on this?
As a sidenote: It's slightly concerning that the backup process it performs is now lightning quick and it almost seems as if it's doing nothing, when in fact my iPhone is absolutely, irresponsibly rammed with everything... hence the worrying need for backups and solving this issue etc. etc.
Please can anyone help me with this, or even give a little support?
P.S. Yes, I fully anticipate being told not to have my iPhone so stuffed etc. etc. It's got about 1-2gb free and I figure you should get to use what you pay for
Thank you so much in advance.

I have to say, this is so weird because it's actually become this way in the past week maybe, and I'm sure me saying this here will be disputed, ridiculed and belittled, and that's absolutely fair, but I've got to say it... up until a few days ago, my iTunes sync/backup area really would keep more than one backup for my one, single iPhone. They were all timed and dated with a drop-down menu (which appeared if I clicked the restore button) to choose which one I wanted to roll back to, for example. Sure, I'd read about the three backups thing etc. etc. and perhaps I got that wrong or misunderstood, but I can honestly say, I only ever had at the most two backups, that I could drop-down and choose to restore from. They were there. Same iPhone. Different dates.
At the time, when this seemed to be the case, the backing-up process took quite a while. I would leave it to progress while I went and made a cup of tea, come back and it still wasn't finished running. So, not really AGES, but a little while.
Now, when I perform a backup, the progress bar almost shoots across to a finish. I'll 'fess up... that worries me most of all. I can live without the luxury of a menu of backups... but if it does it once, I'd like to be sure it does it at all.
Much more importantly though, thank you for your replies so far.
Any further input, even if it's to belittle or shame is totally welcome. I'd like to understand this a bit more.
    Thanks again.

  • IPhone 6 Plus not shipping as promised

Anyone else having this problem? I just got an email from Apple saying my phone I stayed up until 1 am ordering wasn't going to ship as promised. I responded with screen shots of my Verizon account and "eligibiliy". Haven't got a response back yet.

I must have read this wrong then.

  • My 3GS iPhone is not unlocked by apple as promised.

I had a 3GS IPhone bought in Italy unlocked from factory but as the battery was leaking I took it to an apple store in the USA And they replaced it (as out of warranty for a flat rate) for a new devise but they explained that, as this devises in the States are under a carrier, I have to wait 24 hours for it to be unlocked, but  as had to leave, now I'm in Venezuela and is not working here. Any suggestions? Thanks

Yes I did restore it, the only answer I had so far was that I can go to any apple store around the world (except for Venezuela of course) but no help meantime I'm here. I just was wandering if this is something that can be done remotely in case I can call or contact somewhere else, because I'm also afraid that any devise from the USA store can give me the same trouble, maybe trying to solve it from here can prove that the devise is really working out of the USA.

  • How do I prove that I have never once changed my screen on my iPhone 5 since I upgraded in August. I am at my wits end. I work for o2 and I can promise I have never changed the screen. I got this phone in a sealed box and been down 3 times to Apple Store

I am furious about this. 3 visits to Aberdeen Union Square to be told the screen on my phone is not apple merchandise. How can this be when I got the phone from o2 (my work) in a sealed box. I have never once sent the phone away to be repaired or made an insurance claim?
The problem is my screen is becoming unresponsive. Sometimes does not work.
I have restored my phone as told by Apple Technical ( may I add this gentleman was very helpful)
I am basically sick of being called a liar by apple. I can swear this phone has never been tampered with except at The Apple store. I always have recommended Apple phones when doing my job as a sales advisor. I am at my wits end. I will not give up on this.

I have heard of this possibly happening after insurance claims but nothing coming from a sealed box. I'm so frustrated by this as my touch screen doesn't work sometimes and this is causing big problems trying to answer calls. I have only had the phone since August. I set the phone up myself from the sealed box and its never been away from me, never have I had to send the phone away for repair or insurance claim.
Feel like I've got a faulty phone and no one will help me...I trully believe all my phone is all Apple and always has been. I wish I could get photo evidence of inside the phone so i could see for myself.
Its a very expensive phone which is driving me crazy.

  • How do I Help Apple Care Stop Warring with Each Other and Fix the Problem with My iPhone that They Acknowledge Creating?

How Do I Help Apple US & Apple Europe Stop Warring With Each Other And Fix The Problem They Created?
    PROBLEM
Apple will not replace, as promised, the iPhone 5 (A1429 GSM model) that they gave me in London, UK, with an iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model).
    BACKGROUND
My iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model) was purchased this year in September on an existing Verizon Wireless (VZW) line using an upgrade. The purchase took place in California and the product was picked up using Apple Personal Pickup through the Cerritos Apple Retail Store. I will refer to this phone at my "original" phone.
The original phone was taken into the Apple Store Regent Street in London, England, UK on November 15, 2012. The reason for this visit was that my original phone's camera would not focus.
The Apple Store Regent Street verified there was a hardware problem but was unable to replace the part.
The Apple Store Regent Street had me call the US AppleCare. At first they denied support, but then a supervisor, name can be provided upon request, approved the replacement of my original phone with an iPhone 5 (A1429 GSM model) as a temporary solution until I got back in the US. And approved that the GSM model would be replaced with a CDMA model when I came back to the US. I will refer to the GSM model as the "replacement". They gave me the case number --------.
The Apple Store Regent Street gave me the replacement and took the original. The first replacement did not work for reasons I do not understand. They switched out the replacement several times until they got one that worked on the T-Mobile nano SIM card that I had purchased in England, UK. Please refer to the repair IDs below to track the progression of phones given to me at the Apple Store Regent Street:
    Repair ID ----------- (Nov 15)
    Repair ID ----------- (Nov 16)
    Repair ID ----------- (Nov 16)
The following case number was either created in the UK or France between November 15 to November 24. Case number -----------
On November 19, 2012, I went to France and purchased an Orange nano SIM card. The phone would not activate like the first two repair IDs above.
On November 24, 2012, I went to the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps. The Genius told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault. They had me call the AppleCare UK.
My issue was escalated to a tier 2 UK AppleCare agent. His contact information can be provided upon request. He gave me the case number -----------.
The UK tier 2 agent became upset when he heard that I was calling from France and that the France Apple Store or France AppleCare were not helping me. He told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault.
The UK tier 2 agent said he was working with engineers to resolve my problem and would call me back the next day on November 25, 2012.
While at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps, a Genius switched the phone given to from repair ID ----------- with a new one that worked with the French nano SIM card.
Also, while at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps, I initiated a call with AppleCare US to get assistance because it seems that AppleCare UK was more upset that France was not addressing the issue rather than helping me. I have email correspondance with the AppleCare US representative.
A Genius at the Apple Store Les Quatre Temps switched the replacement with a new GSM model that worked on the French SIM card but would not work if restored, received a software update, or had the SIM card changed. This is the same temporary solution I received from the Apple Store Regent Street in the UK.
By this point, I had spent between 12-14 hours in Apple Store or on the phone with an AppleCare representative.
Upon arriving in the US, I went to my local Apple Store Brea Mall to have the replacement switched with a CDMA model. They could not support me. He told me that my CDMA phone should not have been replaced with a GSM model in the UK and that this was clearly Apple's fault. My instructions were to call AppleCare US again.
My call with AppleCare US was escalated to a Senior Advisor, name can be provided upon request, and they gave me the case number -----------. After being on the phone with him for over an hour, his instructions were to call the Apple Store Regent Street and tell them to review my latest notes. They were to process a refund for a full retail priced iPhone 5 64BG black onto my credit card so that I could use that money to buy a new iPhone 5 64GB black at the Apple Store Brea Mall to reoslve the problem.
The Apple Store Regent Street did not process my refund. He, name can be provided upon request, told me that the AppleCare US did not do a good job reviewing my case, that they were incapable of getting to the bottom of it like they were, and instructed me to call AppleCare US and tell them to review this case number and this repair id. I asked if he read the notes from the AppleCare US Senior Advisor and he would not confirm nor deny. When I offered to give him the case number he accepted but it seemed like would do no good. Our call was disconnected. When I tried calling back the stores automated system was turned on and I could not get back through.
Now I have the full retail price of an iPhone 5 64GB black CDMA on my credit card and Apple will not process the refund as they said they would.
I've, at this point, spent between 14-16 hours at Apple Stores or on the phone with AppleCare representatives, and still do not have the problem resolved.
    SOLUTION
AppleCare US and AppleCare Europe need to resolve their internal family issues without further impacting their customers.
Apple is to process a refund to my credit card for the cost of a full retail priced iPhone 5 64GB black.
    DESIRED OUTCOMES
I have an iPhone 5 (A1429 CDMA model) that works in the US on VZW as it did before I received the replacement phone in the UK.
Apple covers the cost of the solution because I did not create the problem.
Apple resolves their internal issue without costing me more time, energy, or money.
This becomes a case study for AppleCare so that future customers are not impacted like I have been by their support system.
Does anyone have recommendations for me?
    Thank you!
    <Edited by Host>

Thanks, but I've been on the phone with AppleCare US (where I am and live) and AppleCare UK. They continue bouncing me back and forth without helping resolve the problem.
Perhaps someones knows how to further escalate the issue at Apple?

  • Why do I have mysterious cellular data usage (Verizon) every 6 hours on all 3 of my iphone 5's?

I have recently uncovered mysterious cellular usage on three different iPhones. I am a Verizon customer and discovered this by examining the cellular data use logs. What I found are a long series of mysterious data usage logs. I have visited the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store 3 times now to log notes and discuss the issue. It is being escalated.
    The characterstics are as follows:
All my family phones have the appropriate IOS and hardware updates (verified by the GeniusBar at my local Apple Store).
This is occuring across three phones, which happen to all be iphone 5. Two are 5 and the other a new 5s. We do have one iphone 4 in the family but the issue (so far as I can tell), is not happening on it.
One iphone 5 has IOS 7, the other IOS 6. The new 5s has of course IOS 7.
Mysterious data use happens even while connected to wifi.
Each mysterious data use log entry is exactly 6 hours apart. For example: 2:18 AM, 8:18 AM, 2:18 PM, 8:18 PM, 2:18 AM ... etc. It cycles AM and PM, same times, for a day to many days until some condition causes it to change (evolve).
The times evolve. One day it could be cycling through at one time series, then it changes to another time sequence and continues until the next condition.
The data usage is anywhere from a few K to many MB. The largest I've seen is over 100 MB.
The logs clearly show these usages are not due to human interaction. It is a program.
If cellular connection is used frequently (by the owner), the pattern is hard to pick out. Luckily, my family member is very good about only using wifi whenever possible, so these mysterious use patterns are easy to pick out.
Verizon allows access to 90 days worth of data logs, so I downloaded and analyzed them. This has been happening for at least 90 days. I have found 298 instances of mysterious use out of 500 total connections to cellular. A total of 3.5 GB of mysterious cellular data has been recorded as used in that 90 days by this phone alone. Only .6 GB of the total cellular data use is legitimate, meaning by the person.
This issue is occuring across three different phones. Two are iPhone 5, and the third is a recently purchased iPhone 5s. The 5s I have not touched beyone the basic startup. I have left it alone on a desk for 3 days, and looking at the logs, the mysterious data use in the same pattern is occuring.
So ... I am speaking to both sides, Verizon and Apple to get answers. Verizon puts their wall up at data usage. It doesn't matter how it is being used, you simply need to pay for it. Yes, the evidence I have gathered is getting closer to someting on Verizon's end.
Before pressing in that direction, I am hoping someone reading this may recognize this issue as a possible iPhone 5 issue ... OR ... you, right now, go look at your data usage logs available through your carrier's web account, and see if you can pick out a pattern of mysterious use. Look especially at the early morning instances when you are most likely sleeping.
I am hoping this is a simple issue that has a quick resolution. I'm looking for the "ooohhh, I see that now ..." But I am starting to think this might be much bigger, but the fact is, most customers rarely or never look at their data usage details, much less discover mysterious use patterns.
The final interesting (maybe frightening part) thing about all this is that I discovered while talking to Verizon ... they do not divulge which direction the data is going. This goes for any use, mysterious or legitimate. Is cellular data coming to your phone, or leaving it? Is something pulling data from your phone? We know that it is possible to build malware apps, but the catch with my issue is that it is also happening on a brand new iphone 5s with nothing downloaded to it.
    Thanks for your time

Thanks for the replies. It took a while not hearing anything so thought I was alone. I have done many of the suggestions already. The key here is that it occurs on both phones with apps, and phones still packaged in a box.
A Genius Bar supervisor also checked his Verizon data usage log and found the same 6 hour incremental use. Suprisingly, he did not express much intrigue over that. Maybe he did, but did not show it.
I think the 6 hour incremental usage is the main issue here. I spoke with Verizon (again) and they confirmed that all they do is log exactly when the phone connected to the tower and used data. The time it records is when the usage started. I also found out that the time recorded is GMT.
What is using data, unsolicited, every 6 hours?
    Why does it change?
Why does it only happen on the iPhone 5 series and not the 4?
Since no one from Apple seems to be chiming in on this, and I have not received the promised calls from Apple tech support that the Genius Bar staff said I was suppose to receive, it is starting to feel like something is being swept under the rug.
I woke up the other day with another thought ... What application would use such large amounts of data? Well ... music, video, sound and pictures of course. Well ... what would someone set automatically that is of any use to them? hmmm ... video, pictures, sound. Is the iPhone 5 succeptible to snooping? Can an app be buried in the IOS that automatically turns on video and sound recording, and send it somewhere ... every 6 hours? Chilling. I noted that the smallest data usage is during the night when nothing is going on, then it peaks during the day. The Genius Bar tech and I looked at each other when I drew this sine wave graph on the log print outs during an appointment ...

  • My address book and iPhone pics have become low resolution.  Is there a way I can prevent this from happening when I start out with a higher resolution picture?

I guess I squeezed my entire issue into the subject line.  lol   When I sync my iphone to my laptop I notice that all my address book pics and iphone pics have become lower resolution, even though I started out with the resolution that I really needed to produce decenty address book printouts.  I doubt I can correct the losses of resolution that have occurred but can anyone help me figure out how to prevent future losses?  Thank you!

Plugins usually are installed externally to Firefox. However, you can disable them in Firefox so that Firefox does not use them.
SearchReset is supposed to automate the task of resetting certain preferences, but you still can edit them manually if necessary.
    '''''Address Bar Search'''''
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''keyword''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Right-click '''keyword.URL''' and choose Reset. This should restore Google as the default for address bar search.
    Does that work?
    '''''Search Box'''''
Usually it works to choose your preferred search engine from the drop-down. To remove an unwanted search engine plugin, usually the Manage Search Engines... choice at the bottom of the drop-down takes care of it.
    Do either of those work?
There might be another way to hijack that search box; I think some of the other frequent responders probably are more familiar with it than I am.
