IPhone 4s 8.1.1 update problems??

SO I updated my iPhone 4s to iOS 8.1.1 the other day and now I can't send or receive any texts. iMessage works okay, as does everything else but the whole texting thing is a real problem for me. I can make and receive calls, so it's not a sim issue and I don't need to top up.
When I send a text it says it's delivered but my friends never receive them. I in return am receiving no texts either.
is anyone else having the same issues or know how to fix it?? I'd really appreciate it!!

It sounds like you can send iMessages and make/receive calls just fine, but SMS can't be sent or received.
Be sure to try all of these troubleshooting steps first:
To resolve issues sending and receiving SMS, follow these steps
Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
Make sure that you have a cellular network signal in the status bar of your iPhone. If there's no signal, learn more about troubleshooting no service.
Restart your iPhone.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
Remove your SIM card and insert it again.
If you still can't send or receive SMS, you can find even more troubleshooting tips in the "If you still can't send or receive SMS..." section of this article:

IPhone 4 i OS 5 Update problems in email & ringtones

I downloaded the update iOS 5 to my iPhone 4. It timed out several times but finally was downloaded. So far the only problems I am having are:
1. when reading my email the photos do not download into the incoming mail &
2. my ringtones disappeared that I had purchased and installed. When syncing I see that the ringtones are on the phone because the laptop scrreen shows they are on the phone but when looking for them on the phone itself there is only one appearing the other 5 I purchased are not in the "general/settings/sounds/ringtone" area of the phone. When going to my "contacts" to set a different ringtone the purchased ringtones are not available to choose from.
Do I need to take off the iOS 5 and reinstall???

The ringtone problem was solved by "unchecking" the purchased ringtones and re-syncing the iphone. Then I re-checked all purchased ringtones and re-synced. They appeared on my phone magically!
But I am still having trouble when opening an email and trying to read the blogs I subscribe to because the photos and other data is not appearing on the screen. I have had to open the blog into Safari to read and look at the photos that were on the blog.
And ideas anyone???

Trying to Restore Iphone, IOS 6.1.3 update Problems

I am trying to restore my ihpone. The latest software is updated to IOS 6.1.3, I tell itunes to restore my iphone. The restore function then tries to download the latest IOS 6.1.3, eventhough it has already been installed. Then while downloading IOS 6.1.3, although I don't need it, an error pops up and says it timed out.
How to I restore my iphone 4s?

There is nothing that you can do now except to restore the device. The iPad will not work until you restore the iOS. Don't your students backup? I would assume that iPads being used in the classroom would be backed up on a regular basis. If they do backup, you can restore the iOS, then restore from the student backup and either sync his content back to the iPad if you are using iTunes, or download it again in the various purchased tabs of the iStores on the iPad.

IPhone 5 app store and update problems! Please help!

Okay so I have a iPhone 5 and all my software is up to date. I'm not able to download or update any of my apps. Whenever I press on update, it asks to enter my apple id password and after I do, it stalls for a few seconds and then says "update" again. It does the same thing when I try to downlaod a new app. My apple I.d and password are both correct. This has been going on for several days and I honestly have tried just about everything. I've turned off my phone, made sure my restrictions were off, ect. Pleeease help, it would be greatly appreciated

Reset the device instead of simply restarting it.
If that doesn't work, pick one of the apps that is least important to you. Delete it. Then try to redownload it.

Iphone 5 Straight talk carrier update problems

I have a Iphone 5 setup on straighttalk when i first got the phon it had 4g. Then i had a carrier settings update and now the phone only has 3g. Has anyone elst had this issue? any fixes? Thanks

Straight Talk tried to tell me I was getting 3G because if there were 4G cell towers I would get 4g. Persisted to talk to manager. Explained that, being from the telecom industry, I know there are a lot of 4g towers in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I asked, so I guess you folks haven't subscribed to them in this area? AND you're currently advertizing SIM cards for my iPhone as 4G LTE. Do I have to buy a new SIM card? His answer = YES. Go to Walmart and make sure you get the SIM T4 card, then call in and reactivate your phone on the new SIM card.

I am new to this community even though I have been a Apple user for years, so please forgive me if this question is not in the right section.
Has anyone encountered drastic shorter battery life both on iphone 5 and ipad since updating to iOS 6.1.2? I've always been happy with these two products until the update - now the battery life is considerably shorter which is extremely frustrating.
How can this problem be solved? Is there any way to go back to the previous version?

If you update using iTunes the phone is first wiped clean, then the new OS is installed, and finally the backup is restored. After this finishes if you sync your music should be restored. Music is not in the backup, because it is already on your computer and duplicating it would use up a lot of hard disk space.
An OTA update just patches what has changed; it does not disturb content.

No, it does not. It transfers purchases from the iDevice to the computer. The computer must be authorized for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with.

Tell your wife to get her own Apple ID. If you do not want continuity/handoff to work with calls, on both devicesgo to Settings==>>FaceTime==>> Turn OFF iPhone cellular calls.

You can not merge accounts.
Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them.

Does anyone have problems occasionally with their slide to unlock on iphone 4s with the ios7 update? And do you think there will be a bug fix? Bit worried

I've recently updated my iphone 4s with the ios7 update and there was a bug fix I also downloaded recently but I hadn't noticed anything wrong at the time. I know it's not happened that often today but does anyone have any problems with their 'slide to unlock' button and have to reload their iphone again? Do you think there'll be a bug fix for it? Just worried as it's not old and I have a feeling I shouldn't have bothered with the update at all.

Why would you think it's a bug? If it were a bug EVERYONE would be having the same issue.

Haven't heard back from them. Took it the adapter to the Apple Store with one of the mics and the Blue Shirts said it was the proper adapter.

Updated the phone to IOS 7.1.1 but there was a problem with my computer. Everything was removed from the phone but I couldn't get it back without help. The tech helped me and everything is fine now except the music. I did sync it and backed it up but wonder if I should restore backup. I'm a little nervous to try that, what do you think.

If you are having Issues with downloading iOS 5....
Try temporarily disabling your firewall and antivirus software and try again...

Sadly, the iPhone 3G can not be upgraded beyond iOS 4.2.1.
