IPhone Model A1203 is not being recognized in iTunes using Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 4100. How to get drivers to get the device recognized?

I downloaded the latest version of iTunes to Windows XP then connected my first generation iPhone to the different USB ports available on the Dell Dimension 4100, not one of them allowed the iphone to be recognized.  The Troubleshooter did not locate drivers other than what are already in the system.  Is there a work around?  Is it the iphone or Windows XP?  Where do I locate drivers?  Why can't my devices just get along?

At present I have no power to the Gen 7, so need to get some power to it I think.  I pressed the buttons as you suggested, but nothing is showing up at this point.  Thank you for your response as the more I can rule out before  I take it back the better I think.

  • Ipod 4g 32G not turning on, not charging (on multiple cords, both comp and wall, 4 20min), not being detected by Itunes or Windows 7 64bit OS, will not reset, tried taking it out of "DFU", NO DMG, Itunes up2date, All I'm getting is a blank black scrn

Ipod Touch 4th generation 32G not turning on, not charging.
I have used multiple cords on both computer USB and wall USB converters. I let it sit there for over 20 min with each attempt.
It is not being detected by Itunes or my Windows 7 64bit OS. I have tried all 4 of my USB ports (both USB 2.0 and 3.0), with 3 different chargers.
Holding home and power button will not reset.
Tried taking it out of "DFU" mode but Itunes won't detect it, I didn't think that would work anyway.
NO DAMAGE, I have been very careful with it, aside from a few minor scratches. (that you can't even see unless the light reflects them)
My Itunes is up to date, as is my OS.
All I'm getting is a blank black screen. It has been working fine on this computer before. I have no idea what could have happened. I'm at my wits end here.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My 3rd gen ipod nano is not being read by itunes when I plug it into my mac laptop.  It says "no name" on the mac screen, I lost all my music on the ipod itself.

My 3rd gen iPod nano is not being read by my iTunes on my mac.  When going to sync, the mac screen says "no name". Also I believe I lost all the music on the iPod.  When turned on it says "Welcome" as if it is new.  I tried to copy all my music into the "no name" folder and then sync.  The iPod said it was "syncing".

So does iTunes see the iPod or not?  I couldn't quite understand from your post as you said it wasn't, but then said that the iPod was syncing...

  • I have a brand new iPad 2 and it is not being "seen" by iTunes for Windows (64 bit Win 7)

I originally had my iTunes library (music, apps, etc) on a MacBook.  Used "home sharing" to drag over most of my collection to my new Windows 7 laptop.  All apps, music, etc show up fine in iTunes on Windows but when I unpacked my new iPad 2 and plugged the apple cable into the USB port on my Windows laptop and the other end in my iPad 2, no synching occured nor did the iPad 2 show up on the left-hand list on iTunes.
Any idea what might be wrong?  I did already try different USB ports.  Each time I plug and unplug I get the audible notification from my laptop that the cable is disconnected and/or connected.  so it's not a hardware issue.

    A Couple of questions..
Is the location shown under preferences/Advanced/General still showing the correct location?
Is the check boxes under this checked or unchecked?

  • My ipod nano 2nd generation stopped being recognised in itunes. using windows 8, all our other ipods are fine

My ipod nano 2nd gen just stopped being recognised in itunes. I'm using windows 8.1..and not had any problems with ipod touch 5th generation or nano 7th gen.
The ipod charges up as indicated by the battery icon but not being recognised at all in itunes or as a connected device or drive on my PC. was working fine the day before then just stopped. I can still listen to the ipod but obviously not load on new songs as not being recognised.

Make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and get it serviced. Sounds like the headphone jack has failed.

  • Ipod is not being detected on itunes or windows

I've tried everything like reseting my ipod, the five r's and it still not picking up on the computer. *_HELP PLEASE_*

    I did it!
XP wanted drivers for the iPod, and I used the method in this doc with one exception:
iPod is not recognized properly by computer when USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305136
...when the wizard came up and asked to look for the driver, I clicked "Search for the best driver in these locations" except instead of windows/inf I went to system32/drivers and found a subfolder with USBAAPL.SYS [the driver name] in the title... it was a hidden folder so you'll have to have them visible to see it. Using that as the target for the search picked it up immediately and then everything was as before.

  • IPhone 4 not recognized by iTunes. Windows 7

    Hi all,
I have read all the forums, my iPhone 4 is just not being recognized in iTunes
I have tried reinstalling iTunes. Gone to device manager, reset mobile service, followed all the apple support pages.
I have updated to the new iTunes and my iPhone isn't even being recognized in device manager, however does charge when I plug it in.
How's anyone faced this before and has solutions? Not just having the same problem.
My only thinking is I am on the previous operating system (4.3.2) because I had battery problems (overheating, rapid drain) and don't want to risk it happening again- it just fixed itself somehow.
I have no idea how to get it to show in iTunes...

to keep tradition, i am going to be the only person replying to this thread.
this is because i have fixed the problem. i changed the cable. simple as that.
i had a read around  - if it is not showing in your on your computer in your devices, then it is your computer / operating system problem.
if it is showing, then it is an itunes problem .
i know that sounds simple, but it made me think about what was my computer doing wrong. my cable was from an old ipod - and must have just worn out.
hope that helps some people - took me half a day but i got there.

iPod 5 and iPhone 6 is not being detected after I downloaded iTunes 12.1.2
Tried changing the lightning conductor, that didn't help either.
Re-installed iTunes but it was of no use. :/

See iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • IPhone 5 stuck in recovery mode. Not recognized in iTunes for Windows

    Hi,
My iphone 5 stuck during update to 8.2. It is now frozen in recovery mode, showing a 'connect to itunes' screen. The problem I have is that (the recently upgraded to 12.0.1) itunes is not recognizing my device. I have tried all of the suggestions here: iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows, to no avail. I have not removed iTunes and reinstalled to test that, as I am concerned this will destroy the backups of my phone - which I will now desperately need once the phone is recovered.
    Has anyone got any suggestions?
    Cheers

    Hi AmberX92,
If you receive an error 3194 when attempting to restore your iPhone, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
