IPod- MobileMe- iCal works; iCal- MobileMe- iPod broken!

I am using MacOsX10.6.5 and iOS4.2(iPodTouch) and while events created on my iPod are almost instantly seen in my laptop's iCal app, any events created on a calendar in iCal on my laptop is never updated to MobileMe and therefor never appears on my iPod. I believe there is a bug in the syncing process in the one direction that is most important to me. This probably can't be fixed but thought I would let others know.

Hi,
In iCal on the left, is the calendar you are adding events to under the section 'MobileMe', or 'On My Mac'?
Only calendars under MobileMe will sync with MobileMe.
Best wishes

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

Connect the iOS device to your computer and try to make a backup (if you want)

Then restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

  • Pressing sleep button has a wide variety of random effects, is my ipod broken?

I have the relatively new iPod Nano 9th Generation, and I have had it for nearly a year. Everytime I am done selecting a song, I put my iPod to sleep by clicking the sleep button so it continues to play the song, but doesn't waste as much energy on illuminating the screen and such. I do this often, and now the button is becoming more increasingly difficult to press and less technologically responsive. When I press the sleep button now, it either pauses the song, skips the song, reads the songs title, does nothing, just funtions properly, etc. I feel it may have something to do with the jack of my headphones, because when I am not physically contacting the headphone jack (I usually use it as sort of an extender to make it easier to hold on such a small mp3 player), it normally is a little more responsive. I would attempt to use another pair of headphones, but I do not have any left, and do not wish to invest in more if this iPod is nearing its breaking point.
So, the big question. Is my iPod broken?

It also effects other buttons aswell, such as the increase and decrease volume. They still have the same effect as the sleep button however. All on screen buttons work just fine, it is just the physical buttons. I have recently tried different headphones and the same thing happens so it isn't the jack I don't believe, and there is no easy was to test without headphones altogether because there are no internal speakers to tell me whether it pauses, or reads the song information with siri's voice, or skips to the next song, etc..
If you were unaware, this is the type of iPod I own. It is roughly 2 inches by 2 inches and the jack is plugged into the bottom right of the iPod while the buttons are placed on the top.
From left to right, the buttons order is: Decrease Volume, Increase Volume, Sleep Button.

  • HT1212 Will Apple fix my iPods broken screen?

Will Apple fix my iPods broken screen?

    No. See the following:
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5s. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:

  • I just got a new iPod touch 4th generation and the built-in speaker doesn't work. Is it broken? Or do I have to turn it on somehow?

I'm not sure if I have to turn in on somewhere in settings or is it simply broken.
    Help?

Try increasing the volue using the volume up-down buttons on the upper left side of the iPod

  • UK complaint or help line needed. 3 ipods broken out of 3.

Does anyone have a UK telephone number (that someone will answer) so I can complain about 2 ipods that I have purchased. A "help line" would be even better but I doubt if they have such a thing. I am so far disgusted about the lack of customer service. I have purchased 2 ipods. One stopped working some time ago so we got a replacement. Now the replacement has also stopped working. (That is 3 rubbish ipods out of 3). My daughter threw her ipod in the bin today she was so fed up with it. It felt good!!! If you have a UK phone number or email address please let me know. I have been through the Apple web site and had no success so I thought I would try this complaints site. Looking at the thousands of complaints on this site I can see that I am not on my own!

Thanks for your help. I called the help line and sure enough the helpful assistant I got through to a young lady in Greece (her English was about as bad line as the line but never mind). We had along chat and went through all the different things that could have been the problem but eventually she admitted the ipod was broken. She gave me a web site to go on so to send it back to Crapple (sorry I mean Apple). THIS IS TO REPLACE MY REPLACEMENT IPOD THAT HAD ALREADY BROKE. I followed the instructions and at the end the web site said because it was 1 year and 2 week since I purchased the ipod I had to pay £130!!!! Now bare in mind that I had I purchased it for my son for Christmas last year and it went wrong shortly afterwards – broke for about 2 –3 weeks before I got through to Apple and then I send it back and they had it for at least 6 weeks and then it broke again before getting to this stage I thing they are take the p**s. I isn't me - my daughter had an ipod and it uploaded fine on the same computer. Although with hers as soon as the ipod is taken out of the charger the battery goes off- she kept her ipod in her bedroom before we had the burning ceremony at the weekend.

  • Phantom iPod (broken alias?)

I have a 3rd Generation iPod that doesn't show up in Finder or in iTunes. When I open Disk Utility, my iPod shows there, but is greyed out. I'm not sure why this is happening, but I may have a guess:
I was using it to listen to music at school (I'm a teacher), and I changed the permissions (using "Get Info") so that my students couldn't access it from the finder. (I keep school work, newsletters, and reports on it.)
Now, no matter which computer I'm using, I can't access my iPod to change the permissions back. Also, since it's not showing in iTunes, I can't play it from my computer at school anymore.
One more thing: When I search for it in finder, I get a hit, but there is no iPod icon. When I double click it, I get some message about a broken alias and do I want to fix alias?
    Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Rob

  • Ipod broken!!! HELP!!!

My friend gave me his iPod to use and i accidentally dropped it. The screen is cracked, but thats not the problem... the problem is that Its brightness is Always low! The brightness isnt working at all, I brighten it to its highest and doesnt brighten, it just stays dimmed. How can i fix that????

I would guess the problem is that the screen is broken. You cannot be surprised that a broken screen doesn't function normally.

  • Solid Orange Light When Charging, Yet Ipod Broken?

So, at some point in the past I walked into the ocean with my IPod shuffle. Yes, stupid move, I know. Anyway, it still worked for a little while afterward, and I got a new IPod, which got stolen. So, recently I've been trying to get this IPod Shuffle 2nd Gen to work. I've tried browsing topics to no avail so decided to post.
    Here's the symptoms:
    1. IPod cannot be recognized by either my computer(Windows XP) OR ITunes.
    2. My IPod will not light up at all unless plugged into my computer, in which case it turns orange as if charging.
    3. I've tried the 5 fixes. None of them worked, and the IPod will not play music.(Though I'm not sure it still HAS music.)
    Any ideas?

On a 1G Shuffle the fix was to disassemble, rinse with distilled water and CRC, carefully dry, re-assemble, and hope for the best. I'm sure the same would be true for the 2G, but I've never taken that one apart; I'm sure the same folks provide the guidance on how to do that, however.
OTOH, a brand-new one is $49 ...... and it even comes with printed warnings against walking it into the ocean.

  • IPod Broken?

I need help in this because I seriously have no idea what to do anymore.
After I updated the iPod with the 1.3 update, the battery completely shut down. Every time I had it on charge it displayed as fully charged, yet the second I took it off it shut down and said "Please wait - very low battery". I noticed quite a few others had the same problem, they just bought new batteries.
So, I bought a new battery for it and it's even worse now! My first thought was to plug it into my computer and restore it, I did and it restored fine. After charging it all night, it showed full charge but the second I took it off I experienced the same problem. I tried a second time, and it worked for a brief second (still showing the fully charged symbol) but the second I turned it off and on it showed low battery again. And now, I can't even get it to read on iTunes and it won't connected to my computer! (This was not a USB cable error - I checked my brother's iPod and it plugged in and read fine instantly).
I'm at my wit's end here. I've known others with iPods much older than mine that still work. I've been pulling my hair out the past month and a half trying to figure out a solution for this, and now I'm out $40 on top of that!
If anyone has any idea what I can do (but I really don't want to send it in to Apple, as my warranty is up) or what could be wrong with it, I would greatly appreciate it.

  • What shall I do? Is my ipod broken?

Okey, so I took my ipod with me to a foam party and I dropped it in the foam, luckily I found it and it was working. After that I got pushed into the foam. At the end of the night my ipod screen was black, I have tried charging it and nothing happens.
