IPod nano: How does the display looks like during first connection with a computer?

Hallo everybody,
Today I got my brand new iPod nano. I connected it to my computer approx. 30 minutes ago.
The window in iTunes opened and I could chouse all the details. So far, so good.
But what about the display? I can only see a black and white display with the word "iPod" in the middle of the first line and a symbol of a battery on the right.
In the middle you can see a picture of part of the cable connection and beyond the Message "Connected. Eject before disconnecting".
So, when will I see the home screen or the buttons? Does anyone know? Have I done somthing wrong? Or do I have to wait until the batterie is full for the first time?

Hello thetwy,
Try the reset while the ipod is plugged into the computer. Steps here:

If that does not work, use a different usb port on your computer, and/or, try the reset on a different computer.

I'm thinking about buying an Apple TV, not to rent movies but to stream all of my own videos to a seperate tv. I'm already doing this with my Xbox 360 with H.264 video but before people watch it they have no idea what the video is about because apart from the brief information i can give in the title, their isn't any picture, comments etc. So i was wondering if the Apple TV has any of these features for the 'My Movies' section:

-Playlists (eg. Recently Added, My Top Rated)
-Title
-Year
-Rating
-Genre

-Actors
-Anything else
Also i was wondering if you can use the search feature for 'My Movies' rather than just rented movies?

Currently you can't use search for My Movies or My whatever, it only works in the Store. Might change, might not. Apple's business model seems to be pushing towards rentals/purchases whereas originally it was a media extender for your own or Apple purchased content before all rentals became available earlier this year in the US and last week in the UK.
They have added genres for My Movies so if you tag a movie as horror, sci-fi, drama, family holidays, westerns etc it should show as a genre.
On Mac there's a great tagger called MetaX (might be worth a look as there's a video there showing some of teh tags that can be applied) - I would not be surprised if there's something similar on the PC.

One last thing, although you've encoded your video as h264 and it plays on Xbox it will not necessarily play on AppleTV unless if fits the specs for playback found here:

Not trying to put you off, but that could be an issue for you.
In the same way some things I've encoded for AppleTV don't work on my PS3.

X120e HDMI - 27" LED LCD @ 1920x1080 - how does the image look?

Hi All,
Since that my X120e is not compatible w/ my Dell 30" DVI-D dual link display, I'm about to invest in a 27" LED LCD w/ HDMI input. If you're using the X120e on a 27" @ 1920x1080 via HDMI too, may I ask how does the image look to you?
Can people even tell that all that images/video come from a lil' laptop?
I asked cos' as we all agree that X120e's built-in display is a lil' on the weak side, I wonder if this carries onto an external display too or not. Speaking of which, ever since I downloaded all latest drivers (as late as last night), my X120e's picture quality is now noticeably better, have you guys noticed this too? And I haven't even used Microsoft's picture calibration software yet cos' last time I used it, all grey areas looked pinkish.

Yeah, as ColonelONeill said, the picture qualities are independent.
Most likely, if you encounter any picture quality issue on the external, it's going to be due to picture options on that monitor itself (color temperature, brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc. etc.) that can be adjusted independent of any setting that the computer has. Any calibration tool software on the PC only adjusts how the data is sent out to the monitor in question. Hardware + Software calibration tools are considerably more reliable because they can take into account the settings on the monitor itself. Sadly one can't adjust the laptop's screen's settings itself.
If you're going to use the HDMI connection, don't forget to go into your Catalyst Control Center and adjust the overscan / underscan setting to get the image to fill up your monitor's screen. AMD sets the overscan / underscan option to default with a slight border around the desktop. This in turn can cause a sort of blurriness because the pixels on the monitor is not 1:1 to the pixels that the laptop is outputting (1920 x 1080 resolution being fit into a 1820 x 980 resolution with a 50 pixel black border, for example).
P.S. the Overscan / Underscan option only shows up in CCC if you have the device connected through HDMI.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP G61-336NR Notebook and BIOS concerns. The BIOS is responsible for loading the operating system. Without it your computer will not work as it checks the hardware and then loads the operating system. Here is a link From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia explaining the BIOS.

On my home computer Firefox comes up and after about 30 seconds all the words on the display look like 'cuss' words in a cartoon. I deleted Firefox and reinstalled-didn't help.

The words are mostly not readable.
I had McAfee run a scan for viruses - didn't find any.
Someone told me my bitmap was screwed up. I don't
know what that is.
The pictures look fine - you just can't read the words under them.
I have run programs like Glary that supposedly fixes various
problems with the registry and start up files - didn't help.
I have shut down the computer and restarted it several times
- didn't help.

Firefox home page.
I even got it to print out but I couldn't get the scanner at work to
scan it. Oh well...

there are a number of programmes running in the back groung when u do any application.
the validations will be written in them
when u try to do something through the programe running at the back ground does these validations like the example u have taken when u do the promotion action it checks whether actions exists or not if not then it throws the error written in the program.

Does the Base Station HAVE to be connected to a computer?

Due to some new wiring in my house, the room where my computer now is is a few rooms away from a phone outlet. I have an Apple Extreme Base Station, and this is my previous my wireless set-up:
DSL phone line goes into router/modem, which is then plugged into the Airport Extreme Base Station. The Base Station is then plugged into the Ethernet port of my G4 (which also has a wireless card).
My question is whether my computer has to be plugged into the Base Station at all, considering that it already has a wireless card? Since the Base Station is already configured, can my computer just get DSL access across the wireless net from a few rooms away via it's wireless card? Or does the Base Station have to be hardwired to a computer in order to properly operate?

Nope, hard wiring your computer(s) to the ABS isn't required. In my case, I run a PowerMac, Mac mini and two laptops off one ABS with a cable modem input (range extended with three AirPort Express modules). None of the computers are hardwired to the ABS...all connect wirelessly.

How can I start using IPad without first syncing with my computer?

I'm out of town and just bought a new IPad2. I don't have my computer with me and won't be able to use it for another 2 weeks. How can I start using my IPad before syncing with my computer?

You must activate it by syncing it to iTunes on a computer. An Apple Store can do it for you - or anybody with a computer that meets the minimum requirements and has iTunes 10.2 on it can activate it for you.
If you have someone else activate it, bear in mind that when you do finally sync to your computer, iTunes is going to tell you that all content will be erased because you already set it up on another computer with another iTunes library. Your iPad will sync to one iTunes library only. That is way they are designed to perform.
You CAN transfer any purchases that you make on the iPad to your iTunes library when you perform your first sync with your own computer, however, and I would strongly suggest that you do that when you get the chance.
If you do set it up with another computer, I would keep the purchases and downloads to a minimum so that keeping all of your data is not a big problem when you finally sync to your own PC.

my computer locked up the screen and pop up came in different languages saying that the computer need to be restarted, i was writing a paper on pages, then started up safari. before that i had installed onyx without a restart. did my computer do a mandatory restart or did it crash?

how come when i tried to find the panic.log it
doesn't even show up (library\logs).
Sometimes, depending on what caused the panic, and what you do afterwards, the panic log won't get saved. Sometimes the computer's state at the time of the panic is just too messed up to manage it. Also, depending on how you reboot, that can also interfere with saving the panic log. For example, if you reboot to single user mode, perhaps to run some diagnostics from the command line, that can also interfere with writing a panic log.
If you've gotten just the one panic, and haven't gotten any since, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
The main danger from repeated kernel panics is that it can cause directory damage to the hard drive, because the computer could be interrupted in updating important files in the directory.
The most common causes of kernel panics are hardware (RAM, peripheral, or hard drive problems) and certain kinds of software, most notably those that install a kernel extension (usually a driver for some specific piece of hardware). An example of this kind of software would be a mouse driver or perhaps one of the virtualization solutions like Parallels and VMWare Fusion.

Why does the message "looks like spam or a virus" appear when sending a picture from my phone?

Photos sent to the printer come up with a message saying it looks like spam or a virus. Photo printed ok first time, now gives that message in the jobs listing. Emailed from an Android phone to an HP Photosmart 6510.

The "spam/virus" message often occurs because the email did not contain any text in the subject line. Please try re-sending an email to your printer and adding text in the email's subject line.
I want to be sure that the information provided has completely resolved the issue. Please reply to this email and let me know whether or not the issue has been resolved. If the issue persists, please include the following pieces of information so that I may assist you further:
1. Are there any attachments being sent? If so, which attachment file type is being used (PDF or Word documents, JPG photos, etc)?
2. Which email address/addresses are used to send ePrint emails?
3. The results of a test email (success/fail) which will help isolate the source of the issue. Please follow the instructions below:
a. Type the word "test" in the subject line

Why does the display look different in photoshop and lightroom

I am using CS4 and LR2.1. When I open the same picture in both programs the picture in CS4 looks dull and washed out. My color space in both programs is srgb (I send all my pictures to Miller's for printing). Any Idea why and what setting I should adjust.

Your color settings are not the same, or something is broken with your display profile that one application is trying to fix up (but that should give you a warning).

HELP!?! My iPod nano 4GB suddenly just displays an apple and cannot connect

Suddenly my iPod just displays an apple and even i reset the iPod the apple vanishes and reappears. when i connect it to my computer iTunes does not find it and even i try to update software, the hardware is not found.
is there any chance to fix that and safe the music on my iPod??

A small symbol has come up on my i phone 4 left hand side of the battery. looks like a small padlock with an arrow going round it. i cannot seem to get rid of it? it was not there originally. i understand its the lock that stops the screen rotating.

A small symbol has come up to the left of the battery symbol. i have found out that this is the screen rotation lock. not sure hoe this has been turned on and i cant seem to turn it off. I read that there is a button above the volume control on the i pad which turns it off, but this does not work on the i phone4?

Try this:
-double click the Home button: this will make the System Tray appear at the bottom of the screen.
-if you do not see the screen orientation lock button then flick to the right: once you see the screen orientation lock button, just tap it. That will change it back.

How does the S_NQ_AACT table gets written when working with Usage Tracking?

Hi,
We want to monitor the performance of each subject area so we have implemented the Usage Tracking.
We have followed the steps mentioned on the link http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bi_ee_1013/usage_tracking/usage_tracking.htm
But now the table S_NQ_ACCT is not getting written, whenever any user logs into OBIEE and runs a request his entry is not logged into that table.
Anybody has encountered such a type of issue help would be appreciated.

Pages 94 to 96 describe in detail how tFRC (transactional RFC) works.
However, there is still something unclear for me with the following sentence on page 94:
"The truly exciting part happens when the program
issues a COMMIT WORK command. The recorded calls
are executed asynchronously in a special set of tRFC
processing sessions created for each transaction ID..."
Maybe someone can answer the following questions:
a) what does exactly trigger and execute the tRFC?
b) is it the ABAP runtime system itself, spawning the additional task in DIA?
c) if multiple tRFC LUWs have been recorded, they are all executed in parallel by this procedure!?
d) does the execution try to utilize all available DIA processes?
e) how do the rdisp/rfc_... parameter come into the game?
   are they evaluated? We have seen all DIA occupied by the tRFCs executed!

This piece of code looks at the SPDatabase's connection string (the SQL alias, for example) and executes a T-SQL query looking for that name within SQL Server. Since the SQL alias does not exist within the SQL Server's configuration, it will return a null
value, and you won't be able to set up the AG config using the AG cmdlets.
Also, since mobility exists by the very nature of using an AG Listener, using a SQL Alias is redundant.
