Issue in Global Services Monitor GSM

Dear all,
I'm facing a problem in Global Services Monitor.
The Resources pool contains 4 Management Servers; 2 old and 2 recently installed.
The GSM was installed and was working normally on the old Management Servers.
But, after increasing the number of management servers to be 4 instead of two, the problem appeared.
The GSM is firing alerts on the new MS's and their state are critical (old 2 servers are healthy).
The alert description is as below:
Global Service Monitor Modules: Failed to discover Global Service Monitor locations.
Failure step: 'Couldn't get the ACS endpoint from discovery service. SubscriptionId: 'a6846da0-e5d7-4bea-ab13-836d89364b60', OutsideInServiceBaseUri: 'https://gsm-prod.systemcenter.microsoft.com/''

Hi
Is there any requirement to install the Microsoft Root Certificate on the server where SCOM console is working? Shall I need to purchase Windows Azure Subscription also for GSM? Please let me know.
The scenario is - I have one SCOM server (Including all the server roles on the single server) and other server where VMM server and SCOM console is installed. I have installed GSM Management Packs on the SCOM server and configured one Web Availability Monitor
to be monitored from external servers (e.g. Chicago).
I am getting the below error:-

  • Global Service Monitor (GSM) Config

Hello all, I have recently configured GSM with the external monitoring services being in the U.S.
When I look at the monitor - Authoring>MP Objects>Monitors>Multi-URL Template (*Monitor Name*) it shows enabled is set to true.
However when I look at - Monitoring>Monitoring>Application Monitoring>Web Application Availability Monitoring>Web Application Status - The monitor does not have a check mark next to it.
When I look at - Monitoring>Monitoring>Application Monitoring>Web Application Availability Monitoring>Test State - none of the five external servers are checked and they all say "Not Monitored"
So I'm trying to figure out if it's enabled or not and if not where do I go to enable it?  When I have setup internal (Non GSM) web tests they are just enabled so I'm not sure what's different with this one.
    Thank you,
    Matt

    Hi,
Would you please restart the health service on the external servers. And we may try to flush health service state and caches for those server.
In addition, have you followed the below link to install GSM:

You need to add a Gateway node the service monitor.
To do this browse to http://HOST:8040/
Using the default port, you can connect to the Service Monitor interface in a browser, where HOST points to the IP address or hostname of the machine on which Service Monitor is installed.
Right mouse click and add the Gateway node.

  • How to use Properties Metadata global service using KM API's

    Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to get the list of property Namespaces configured in the KM Portal and also all property Names associated with each Namespace.
I was able to see the list of Namespaces in KM portal at "ContentManagement --> Global Services --> Property Metadata --> Namespaces"
Is there any way to access the Property Metadata service and get the list of Namespaces?
I have seen few posts using the IPropertyConfigurationService as below:
    IPropertyConfigurationService configService;
    try {
    configService =
    (IPropertyConfigurationService) ResourceFactory
    .getInstance()
    .getServiceFactory()
    .getService("PropertyConfigurationService");
    } catch (PropertyConfigurationServiceException e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
I am not sure if IPropertyConfigurationService has API's to give the list of Namespaces as I was not able to figure out the jar file in which API's related to IPropertyConfigurationService exists.
Will the IPropertyConfigurationService be useful to fetch all the configured Namespaces? If so, which jar file should I place in my build and class path?
Also, Can I get the property names associated with each namespace?
Any help or hint is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Suresh.

    Hi Praveen,
Thanks for the information on km.shared.service.propertyconfig_api.jar file. I have located the file in the mentioned location and was using it sucessfully.
I was able to use IPropertyConfigurationService  and fetch the MetaData properties in the Portal application.
But, when I place the same code on WebDynpro application it doesn't work.
I have placed the km.shared.service.propertyconfig_api.jar in lib folder of the WebDynpro project, but on runtime I get ClassNotFound exceptions of various classes.
I was wondering if there is any configuration that need to be mentioned for accessing KM Portal applications in WebDynpro.
I have found one post related to this which was talking about using IPropertyConfigurationService in WebDynpro, but not directly, using EJB
    Link:[https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=338383]
Can you throw some hints on how to go about this issue.
    Thanks,
    Suresh.

  • Is Global Service Exchange available for training purposes?

    Hello,
I am a very well educated teen about to turn 18 soon and am ready to apply to Apple. I have been waiting a long time for this and have studied as much as i could from all the products I could afford (Mainly iOS). My question here is as follows; is there any way i could use Global Service Exchange for personal use only on my own devices? I hear it is what genius reps use and id really like to get some experience with it before i apply. Is there any other software you could recommend for me? (for training). If it is Mac only then it wont do me good as I am stuck with a PC for the time being. I own all 3 popular iOS devices (4 if you like to count the Apple TV) and am familiar with their older generations. I need to learn as much more as i can so please! any suggestions help!.
I thank the community ahead for any answers I receive with other software, however my main concern at the moment is the global service exchange tool.
P.S. I am aware that knowledge of just iOS devices isn't very impressive, just keep in mind that Mac certification training programs are not available in my area. Id love any tips with this issue as well!.

    Greetings,
The answer is no. As far as I know, GSX is exclusively for internal Apple Store and repair facility´s use.  If gaining access to GSX is what you want, you might consider first obtaining the Apple Certified Mac Technician Certification.  This certification will enable you to obtain a Technician ID, which you will later need to sign into GSX.It will also give you the skills needed to be hired at an Apple Store or an Authorized Apple Repair Provider.
The app the Geniuses use is propertary of Apple, and used only at its stores. Belive me, I tried to get it on my iPhone.  But anyways, Apple offers tons of options to become Apple Certified. Just go http://certifications.apple.com, and register using your Apple ID.  I believe you will encounter reading material regarding where to go for certifications.
Hopefully I did not reply too late.
    Good luck!

I am currently in Cameroon, Africa and after arriving here, I added Global services to my plan in hopes to be able to use my phone to call local numbers.  When I dial local numbers in Cameroon, with or without the country code, the call fails.  I suspect it may be that the phone is 3G and this area only supports 2G.  Help!

    cctga,
We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us. I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble while traveling. We definitely want to make sure you have all available options. Normally when traveling internationally we reccommend setting up international services prior to leaving. When you added the services did you do so online or with a rep? It would be best to contact our global department in order to troubleshoot any and all issues with services while international http://vz.to/17KseUf.

  • Services Monitoring Dashboard in OEM

when I tried to run Service Monitoring Dashboard in OEM, one of the screen ask for the "Web Application to included in this report" so I was trying to picl the web site "EM WEbsite" (the only one target type that I have in my GRID), two questions
    1. what is this EM Website for?
    2. right now it show as down, do I need for it to be up? everything in my GRID seems to work ok but this guy is down and I don't know what it's for.
    Thanks,

    The EM website is EM's user interface - i.e. <hostname>:<port number>/em.
Service Leve Management (SLM) in Enterprise Manager is designed to help you model the service level agreement or operational level agreement that you define between your business users and IT, and between IT groups. To monitor the service level of applications, SLM is typically used with EM's synthetic transaction monitoring capabilities. For example, you may want to define synthetic transactions to simulate end users logging into your application, issuing queries, clicking on links, etc... in order to collect controlled measurements of application performance and availability.
Since Enterprise Manager itself is an application, we decided to set up a test to monitor it at well. What you typically want to do is to take the base setup that we provide to you, and add more beacons. Beacons are synthetic transaction "robots" that are used to send these synthetic transactions to the applications. For example, if your data center where EM is located is in the U.S., and you have administrators logging in from the U.K., you may want to deploy a beacon at their location so that the beacon can test from their location whether they can access EM or not. I am not sure why your EM website is down. Chances are something changed in your EM setup and the synthetic transaction is no longer valid. All you have to do is replace the existing test with a new one. At any case, the EM website being down is not going to affect your use of SLM in EM.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem to add CUCM for the Service Monitor

I'm trying to add the CUCM for the CUSM(Service Monitor) and the Last Contact Status to CDR/CDRM DB is always "Waiting for Data"(According picture 1 attached). Due this issue, none Phone were added to service monitor.
I checked the credentials and all credentials are OK and the CUSM was added into CDR  Billing Application Server list(picture 2).
I attached 2 pictures about the issue.
Picture 1: Service Monitor- Data Source Credentials Status
Picture 2: CUCM - CDR Management
    Someone have any tips?
    Thanks,
    Luis

Well,, no responses.   I have finally gotten a solution thats doesnt have this error.  So, If your having this problem do this
1: Go thru all your projectes and delete all the clientConfigs, webService References, and the Service References Directories.
2: In one method or another delete the existing Web Service and Create a new one with all your subs and functions copied over.
    3. DO NOT name it the same thing, so somethng like myWebSvc_03_ for the 3d time you have done this process.  Fortunately, on this interation, all seems well. I can even do an update WebService without destroying the links.  Makes
me wonder how much junk is hanging out in the code somewhere.  I dont know if this is true or not, but it seemed to have worked best when I created all the projects and then added the sebService last. I do know that I had problems when adding a new project
to the solution after the web service was working.
    4. Rebuild, and then go add you service references back into your solutions and update the code as needed.
Maybe I should just make the webservice a totally separate entity, but I am the ony one that would use it, so that seemed a additional complication.
One sort of unrelated note... You may have a solution that has a user control called in it, but itself is not using the web service.  My project requires that I copy a clientConfig from another project.  And then if you do a rebuild of the web service, you
my have to update this as well.
Im rather new to Silverlight, but this has been a real pain and a lot of work time lost due to this issue.
So, not an answer, but perhaps a workaround that will save you some of the pain that I have encountered.
Im marking this as answered, although its not really.  At best its a workaround.

  • Windows Service Monitoring

    Hello All,
I have implemented a Windows Service Monitoring to look after some custom windows services on a Windows Server with a 3rd party piece of software installed. The monitor has been working as expected and has kept an eye on the services and alerted when they
    have stopped.
However, the support team are now reporting that they are alerted when the service stops and starts. And they receive the same alert regardless, stating that the service has been stopped.
Is there something I am missing from my configuration? How can I amend it so that the support team are only alerted when the service is stopped? And why would it alert when its started?
    Hope someone can help
    James

This actually sounds like a notification issue.  Do they have notifications set up to send them emails when an alert goes from one state to the next?  What I mean by that is, New Alert, Closed Alert.  When setting up notifications, it's a
common mistake to not include the alert criteria, which will cause behavior like this, ops teams getting several emails when the state of the alert is changed by the system or operator.  If you look at the alert details in the email, you may notice, a
slight difference in the resolution state field, if that is displayed.
If this is the issue, find the notification subscription and have it changed so that they only receive alerts with a resolution state of NEW.

  • Displaying hostname in Basic Service Monitor alerts

    Hi all,
I've created a new Unit Monitor (specifically, a Basic Service Monitor) to alert when a particular service I stopped on any server in a group that I've defined. When I stop the service to test the alert, I don't see the affected server's hostname anywhere in
the alert. I see the source is set to the name of the group. This isn't all that useful, as I have to check every server until I find the one that the alert was generated for.
I've tried changing values in the Alert Description on the monitor, but haven't had any success here. It seems to me like the answer should be pretty obvious, but I'm stumped.
    Thanks!

First - monitors or rules targeting groups is a
    bad practice.

Also, getting hostname in the alert is a
    discovery issue.

  • Understanding a service monitor "Service Details"?

I am just trying to understand an alert coming from the ConfigMgr/SCCM 2012 management pack but I guess my question is a bit broader than that in that it will help me understand over service alerts
For most service monitoring I just look at the basic service monitor itself and the “service details”. For instance the monitoring the WMI service just shows as “WinMgmt” as I would expect.
However I have an alert for a “ConfigMgr Site Role Issue”. When I use health explorer this then shows as “Site SQL Backup Service Monitor”. When I look at the “service details” for this it shows as –
    $Target/Property[Type="SCCM!Microsoft.SystemCenter2012.ConfigurationManager.SqlServer"]/BackupServiceName$
I just wonder if someone can explain this line and what its actually looking at? Is there somewhere I can view this better as to what it is monitoring?

    Hi,
BackupServiceName$ should be one property defined under the sqlserver class which is defined in Microsoft.SystemCenter2012.ConfigurationManager MP.
You may need to open the XML which defined the class, and then ctrl+f to search the key word “BackupServiceName$”

  • Windows Service Monitor - False Alerts

Scenario : We have a custom Service Monitor that is created long back and enabled for all Servers. I just noted that the service is not present in all servers except few. I also noticed that there are some Overrides for 5 servers which does
not make any sense to me as it was overridden to enable this monitor.
Issue  : Now the issue is, I got alerts for 5 servers for which the service is not installed at all. How is that possible ?

HOw to you create this service monitor?
You can create your service monitor either
    1) From Authoring workspace --> Management pack Templates --> Windows services
    http://www.bictt.com/blogs/bictt.php/2011/03/17/scom-monitoring-a-service-part3
    OR
    2) Authoring workspace --> Monitors
    http://www.bictt.com/blogs/bictt.php/2011/03/17/scom-monitoring-a-service-part2
You understanding is correct if you using method 1) to create service monitor. Otherwise, you should enable the monitor for computer which has te service present.

  • Unified Operations Manager / Service Monitor

Service monitor does not recognize any phones registered to a CUCM 6.x cluster.
    1040 Sensors do recognize phones.
Any idea why the CUCM phones are not recognized ?
    Thanks, Wolfgang

    Naveen:
Spanning does not affect the phone count from a cluster and that is Wolfgang's issue. It only affects the phone count from the 1040 sensors.
    Wolfgang:
A phone count of zero for a cluster usually means there are no cdrs being pushed from the CUCM 6.x.
    1) Are you getting any records in the CVTQ reports?
    2) Does it show success for both HTTP and CDR on the CUCM credentials page?
    3) Are you sure that you have done the task of "Setting Unified Communications Manager Service Parameters" on every CUCM in the cluster as mentioned in the following url.

  • Global services confirmation and usage tracking

I am experiencing grave anxiety and considerable distress over the issue of determining whether my RAZR MAXX has been configured for the global services I ordered last week, and if so then how I can track my usage on that plan. No information has been forthcoming from VZW including by chat and email, endless searching of FAQs and many false starts at tools on this site and the mobile site. This is very frustrating and disturbing, and I may need to shut the whole thing off just to avoid unaffordable charges that I did not intend to incur. This of course reinforces my experience of the phone as junk and Verizon as a corporate scoundrel. Please Let me know if you have any ideas.

It's not false information, it takes a couple of days for the information to be received from other carriers' towers, it is the same as minutes and texts, maybe you should get over it and get a life and stop compaining about your data usage, did  you have this problem 10 years ago, no get over it.
