Issue in Member Formula after enabling parallelization

Hi all,
System Details :
                SAP BW      - 731 Release - SP9
               CPMBPC     - 801 Release - SP4
               EPM Excel - 10.0 SP 15 Patch 1
Model Details :
              Periodic Model
Background Information :
          Sometimes back I had a performance issue in my BPC 10.0 report. So I implemented the steps mentioned in the SAP NOTE 1854228. After this, the report performance increased very signifiacntly.
Issue Details :
     There are few reports where in the Column axis we were trying to fetch data of both Periodic and YTD Measure along with Time Period. and in the row Axis I have accounts.
     My Issue is if in a single report I keep accounts :
                        CATEGORY 1 - Don't have member formula
                         CATEGORY 2 - have member formula : but accounts used in the formula of member formula are of same account type
                         CATEGORY 3 - have member formula : but accounts used in formula are of different account types ( e.g mix of INC and AST )
     Then the values fetched for any accounts for YTD measure is same as Periodic Measure.
But If I separate this single report to 2 different reports, where
                    1. In one report I kept accounts of Category 1 & 2.
                    2. In 2nd report I kept accounts of Category 3
Then the values for both YTD and Periodic are same.
As an developer I can do this. But this creates problem when user creates some Adhoc reports, where they want all there category of accounts in a single report. So if any body has any idea about how to overcome this issue, then it's very much appreciated.

Thanks Valdim. I was really expecting some respose from you.
Example :
ANNUAL CHURN = ( Disconnection / Avg Base YTD ) * -12.
     Where Disconnection : EXP type account
                 Avg Base YTD : AST Type Account.
                                            = Avg Base Periodic / Month Num of Current Month.

  • Issue with member formula editor in Planning 11.1.2.4

    Hello Gurus,
    I just wanted to add a formula for a planning application member through workspace (v.11.1.2.4), but when I tried member -> edit -> member formula... it stays there by saying the 'Loading Member Formula Editor'.................. nothing happens after that.. same case with all the members.. I am using IE.11...
    any tricks??
    Thanks,
    Siva

    Hello Gurus,
    I raised an SR with Oracle support and they have replied by saying that, In EPM 11.1.2.4, the IE11 is only supported for interactive reporting and we will have to use IE 10 & 9 for workspace.
    Yes. It works fine in IE 10 & 9.

  • Issue with Member Formula written for Balance Type

    Folks,
    I am facing an issue with a member formula written for a balance type dimension,
    The code says
    IIF( IsUda([Accounts].CurrentMember, "BalanceSheet"),
    CASE
    *WHEN IS([Time].currentmember,[YearTotal]) THEN MISSING*
    WHEN IsLevel([Time].CurrentMember, 0) THEN (BALTYPE.[EndOfPeriod])
    WHEN IS([Time].currentmember,[Q1]) THEN (BALTYPE.[EndOfPeriod],Time.[MAR])
    WHEN IS([Time].currentmember,[Q2]) THEN (BALTYPE.[EndOfPeriod],Time.[JUN])
    WHEN IS([Time].currentmember,[Q3]) THEN (BALTYPE.[EndOfPeriod],Time.[SEP])
    WHEN IS([Time].currentmember,[Q4]) THEN (BALTYPE.[EndOfPeriod],Time.[DEC])
    END
    ,MISSING)
    Outline Structure for Time dimension looks like below
    +Time
    --|+YearTotal
    ------|+Q1
    ----------|+Jan
    ----------|+Feb
    ----------|+Mar
    The highlighted Part of the code works good for all the Measures which is With the UDA tag BalanceSheet, Except if the Measure with BalanceSheet UDA is a Parent Member.
    Parent Level Measures are populated with Data(populating Dec Data) instead of showing #MISSING.
    Any help on this issue will be appreciated.

  • EPMA 11.1.2.1 – member formula – from "local" to "shared" ?

    Planning application created using shared dimensions in EPMA 11.1.2.1
    From the “Application Library” editing a Planning application you go to “Dimension Library” whith 3 sections of the window open: “Shared Library”, “Application”, “Properties”.
    When you modify a member formula in the “Application” window the member formula from “Shared Library” does not change, thus generating a misalignment between the “shared formula” and the “application formula”
    Basically this member becomes “local” for the application…and afterwards if you change the formula from the “Shared Library” window does not change it for the “Application” as well.
    So, this is how a “Shared member” becomes “Local member” in a “Shared dimension”.
    My question is: Which are the steps to make a “Local member” to become a “Shared member”.
    I have tried:
    - Remove dimension from application and re-drag and drop it
    - Exclude member..and after re-including.
    Neither of the above worked…Once that a “Shared member” became a “Local member” I cannot change to make it again “Shared”.
    This is very annoying because a formula can be changed by mistake in the Application window and cannot be restored to “Shared”.
    Any suggestion on how to solve it ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Have you installed the latest EPMA patches? I know one of them addresses issues with the shared library.

  • Problem with member formulas and allocation

    Hi guys,
    I am experiencing a problem I am not currently able to solve. I'm building a planning application in which
    volumes can be inputed in different units of measure (5 are currently available). For example a user can input in liter or KG, and the
    system converts this data in all the different units of measure available, executing a script logic after
    the input (for every bas member is also stored a conversion factor, which is used  by the logic for conversion).
    Two are the major issues of this approach:
    1) storing 5 different volumes for every SKU is consuming in term of disk and DB space;
    2) script logic must be executed every time the user sends data and in some cases this could be time-consuming.
    The solution I'm trying is to use member formulas in order to calculate different units of measure, storing
    only one of these. However, this way lead to another problem: when I try to input data with a top-down approach, using BPC
    ALLOCATION ENGINE, I cannot use the correct unit of measure as a driver for the spread.
    For example, if I input volumes is KG, and the unit of measure stored is only liter, I cannot use nor KG as a driver (because is not stored,
    but only a member formula) neither liter, because the spread using this driver would lead to a wrong result.
    What I would like to do is to give the user the possibility to input in the desired unit of measure at an aggregated level and spread data
    using the existing mix, which must be volumes with the same unit of measure used for input.
    Does anyone has an idea that could help me?

    hi
    i found a solution for the Problem in another Forum
    http://businessintelligence.ittoolbox.com/groups/technical-functional/hyperion-admin-l/dynamic-calc-formulas-not-refreshed-1719379?cv=expanded
    The suggestion is
    1. change the Member from Dynamic Calc to Store
    2. Refresh (After these Step the Formulas where still out of sync)
    3. change the Member from Store to Dynamic Calc
    4. Refresh
    After these Steps the Formulas are in sync again.

  • How to load Essbase member formula into DRM using Automator

    Hi,
    I just wonder how to load Essbase member formula into a member property in DRM?
    I encounter a problem when loading a member formula which as new line in the formula.
    Here is the example of the record for Automator using | (pipe) delimiter where the formula has carriage return / new line:
    ChangeProp|Master|Accounts|CYTDSignOnBonus|ESB_Formula|[OpenInputValueBlock]
    [CYTD("Sign On Bonus")]
    [CloseInputValueBlock]
    In the above example. when the formula is loaded, it only load the 1st line and strip the remaining line.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    I have encountered this issue as well and here is how I receommend you deal with it. Unfortunately, DRM does not understand multiple lines in a formula and so it truncates the other lines.
    1. The best way around it is to ensure that your formula does not have multiple lines. Strip all the enters and only use spaces. Essbase does not care about aesthetics as long as the formula is all in one line. This should take care of it.
    2. Sometimes, the formulas for member properties are very long and they are in multiple lines. You can try using excel formulas to bring them all in one line. After removing enters and tabs myself multiple times, I informed my Essbase developers of this DRM issue and told them to provide me with the formulas without using Enters and tabs.
    Hope this helps.

    Hello Vadim,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I am able to process ACCOUNT_GL dimension.
    Also, I am using standard TIME dimension.
    I found that the virtual provider(created by using source of data for my model) too is showing the error, when I place above member formula.
    I am attaching the error messae when I try to do list records in the virtual provider.
    When I remove the member formula, everything is fine
    Thanks

  • Block creation problem in member formula

    Hi,
    I have a member formula as below :
    IF(.....)
    x = a/b;
    ENDIF
    where a,b have their own member formulas.
    There is no issue with the calculations of x,a or b, but I am facing an issue with block creation of x.
    Is there a way to handle block creation through member formulas? I know the way out through calc scripts, but i am trying to limit the use of calc scripts.
    Thanks!
    Note:The storage property of all three members is store. Also, a and b lie in the same intersection (same block), and x lies in another intersection.

    In the following section of the dbag: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/esb_dbag/frameset.htm?dcaoptcs.htm...
    Under the sub-section: In Equations in a Dense Dimension...
    It states as follows:
    In Equations in a Dense Dimension
    When you use a cross-dimensional operator in an equation in a dense dimension, Essbase does not automatically create the required blocks if both of these conditions apply:
    Resultant values are from a dense dimension.
    The operand or operands are from a sparse dimension.
    You can use the following techniques to create the blocks and avoid the performance issue.
    Ensure that the results members are from a sparse dimension, not from a dense dimension. In this example, the results member Budget is from a sparse dimension:
    FIX(Sales)
    Budget = Actual * 1.1;
    ENDFIX
    FIX(Expenses)
    Budget = Actual * .95;
    ENDFIX
    Use the DATACOPY calculation command to create and then calculate the required blocks. See Using DATACOPY to Copy Existing Blocks.
    Use a member formula that contains the dense member equations:
    FIX(Sales, Expenses)
    Budget (Sales = Sales -> Actual 1.1;*
    Expenses = Expenses -> Actual .95;)*
    ENDFIX
    The phrasing of that last part would lead me to believe that block creation via a member formula is possible. Though I'm not sure of the member to which that formula should be applied. Furthermore, the code looks funky in that we're fixing on Sales and fixing on Expenses, and them on the left side of the equation within the fix.
    Thoughts anyone?

  • Attributes in member formula

    I want to run a simple member formula but fix it on only entities that have a certain attribute: "Comp".
    I have a BSO cube partitioned with an ASO cube with the following member formula:
    ================================================
    In BSO:
    IF("Received In Qty" > 0 )
    @ROUND("Received In $" / "Received In Qty",2) ;
    Else
    #missing;
    ENDIF
    In ASO:
    IIF(([Received In Qty] > 0),
    ROUND([Received In $] / [Received In Qty],2),MISSING)
    ================================================
    I need to have the member return the rolled up value of the entities that have the Comp attribute only.
    So the logic in the formula would be something like this:
    ============================================================
    In BSO:
    IF(ISMBR(WITHATTR(Comp)) AND IF("Received In Qty" > 0 )
    @ROUND("Received In $" / "Received In Qty",2) ;
    Else
    #missing;
    ENDIF
    In ASO:
    IIF(IS(WITHATTR [Comp])) AND IIF(([Received In Qty] > 0),
    ROUND([Received In $] / [Received In Qty],2),MISSING)
    =======================================================================
    The system doesn't allow me to save this due to syntax issues.
    I don't want to pursue this if returning values for this is not even support.
    Do you know how to do this. If it is a quick answer I would appreciate the help.
    Thanks.

    Wouldn't the fact you used the attribute in your retrieve affect the results of your query? I'm not sure if I am misunderstanding your requirement, but the formula is global, if you only want to see it applied to members with the attribute 'Comp', then run your report with that attribute selected.

  • IF ELSE Statement in Member Formula

    I believe that I am in my final step of completing my database. But, I need to create a member formula that converts lbs to kg. I have gotten help on this question in the past and have a basic formula that works. However, I have 2 exceptions to the formula that are not successfully calculating.
    This much of the formula has been tested and works when isolated:
    IF (@ISMBR(@LIST(AccountCapacityTypeX,AccountCapacityTypeY,AccountCapacityTypeZ)))
    "LBS"/2.2046;
    ELSEIF ((@ISMBR(@List(AccountCapacityTypeA, AccountCapacityTypeB) )) and (@ISMBR(@LIST(MbrNm1, MbrNm2,"Jan","Feb","Mar","Apr","May","Jun","Jul","Aug","Sep","Oct","Nov","Dec","Qtr1","Qtr2","Qtr3","Qtr4"))))
    @round(("LBS"/2.2046),0);
    else
    @round(("LBS"/(2.2046*5)),0)*5;
    ENDIF
    However, the following checks out when I verify my syntax, but when it is added to the above formula the formula does not load:
    IF ((@ismbr(MbrNm3)) and
    (@ISMBR(@LIST("Region1","ParentOfRegion1","GrandparentOfRegion1","Y2008","Y2009","Y2010","Y2011","Y2012","Y2013","Y2014","2015","Y2016","Y2017","Y2018")) and (@ISMBR(@List(AccountCapacityTypeA, AccountCapacityTypeB)))))
    105;
    ENDIF
    IF ((@ismbr(MbrNm4)) and
    (@ISMBR(@LIST("Region1","ParentOfRegion1","GrandparentOfRegion1","Y2012","Y2013","Y2014","Y2015","Y2016","Y2017","Y2018")) and (@ISMBR(@List(AccountCapacityTypeA, AccountCapacityTypeB)))))
    425;
    ENDIF
    Members MbrNm1-4 are all stored, zero level members of the same dimension. My years, months, and qtrs are dense dimensions, everything else is sparce. AccountCapacityTypes contain both calculated and stored members. Region dimension contains all stored members. Also lbs are a stored member.
    Any ideas on how to make these 2 exceptions work?
    Thank you,
    C-Lo

    Hello Cameron Lackpour,
    I have tried several iterations of this calc script, and gotten it to mostly work. The issue that I have is that it calculates everything correctly, but when I @remove the one year that want the calc script to calculate differently that year retrieves values for #missing as desired, but when I try to write a calc script for that single excluded year the second calc script still doesn't run for the whole condition that is defined. I don't know if any of that makes any since, but below is an example:
    FIX("JOLEFINS_JCP")
    FIX(@REMOVE(@RELATIVE("Years", 0), @Member("Y2008")))
    *"KMT"*
    IF (@ismbr(@list("MajorTurnarounds","InventoryCtrl","Feedslate/ProdMixImpct","ActsOfNat","Fdstk/RawMtlAvail",
    *"OtherExtEvents","ExternalLPOs","InternalLPOs","PlndMntc","Mech/ProcLoss","AbvCapProd","Other","Actual","Adjusted","MaxDmstdCap")))*
    *"MMLBS"/2.2046;*
    ELSEIF(@ISMBR("Published Capacities","EOY_PubCap"))
    *@round(("MMLBS"/(2.2046*5)),0)*5-1.25;*
    ENDIF
    ENDFIX (everything in bold is calculating correctly)
    FIX (@RELATIVE("Years", 0), @member("2008"))
    +"KMT"+
    +(+
    IF (@ismbr(@list("MajorTurnarounds","InventoryCtrl","Feedslate/ProdMixImpct","ActsOfNat","Fdstk/RawMtlAvail",
    +"OtherExtEvents","ExternalLPOs","InternalLPOs","PlndMntc","Mech/ProcLoss","AbvCapProd","Other","Actual","Adjusted","MaxDmstdCap")))+
    +"MMLBS"/2.2046;+
    ENDIF
    IF(@ISMBR("Published Capacities"))
    +@round(("MMLBS"/2.2046),0)/1.08;+
    ENDIF This portion in italics returns #Missing . However, the loaded data ("MMLBS") does return data for this year.
    IF (@ISMBR("EOY_PubCap"))
    *8.75;*
    ENDIF This portion seems to be calculating as well.
    ENDFIX
    ENDFIX
    CALC ALL;
    Any additional suggestions?
    Thanks,

  • Accounts getting disabled after enabling password expiration on BOXI R2 SP2

    Hi All,
    We have a strange issue with our production environment.After enabling password expiration on the enterprise some accounts got disabled,on further investigation I found that these users were either trying to log on to Designer or 2 tier Deski.
    I made them login through the Infoview to fix the issue.These users were Universe deginer or report writers.
    Any Suggestions

    Hi Tim,
    These accounts are Enterprise accounts,according to the users they were not given a chance and they never got any prompt for the password change it was disabled directly at the first login.
    These people were trying to logon using the Desginer or 2 Tier DESKI login and they are the members of the Administrtor Group also.
    Is it important to logon to infoview or 3 tier DESKI to change your password?
    I have no answer to give them why there accounts were disabled.
    Please suggest

  • Do the custom rollup member formulas work recursively for parent child dimension?

    Hi
    We have custom rollup set up for Account dimension which is parent child.
    It seems to work fine when the custom member formula refers to a base account member i.e. if the formula for MemberKey4 is (MemberKey1 + MemberKey2) then it shows the sum of the underlying members 1 and 2.
    But if the formula for MemberKey10 is (MemberKey3 + MemberKey4) then it should evaluate the value for MemberKey4 first and then add to it value for MemberKey3 to come up with final number for MemberKey10.
    Do the custom rollup work fine with the recursive calculations? Is this recursion limited to some level?
    Thanks
    Shailesh

    Hi Jorg,
    Thanks for your input.
    Actually the hierarhcy is more determined by the parent child relationship. So we cannot move the members as per the formula. And further the formulas are not always additive, there are divisions and multiplactions happening also.
    Further the calculated members (account members) are used in different places, the usage level of calculated members could be 3 in some cases i.e. MemberKey15 = (calculated using MemberKey10 = (calculated using MemberKey7 = (Calculated using MemberKey4 = (calculated using base members)))). Now inserting the base members in place of a calcuated member becomes more of string manipulation.
    And on the top of above complexity, the formulas are not static and they are more user defined, they may change between time periods, which forces us to write a dynamic procedure to translate the 'business formula' into SSAS formula. We expect the custom rollup to work as expected (i.e. if the formula contains a calculation involving the calculated member, it should resolve that first and so on) and we have written generic procedure to replace the Account Code in the 'business formula' with the accont key value with the account hierarchy char string.
    In the link http://doc.ddart.net/mssql/sql2000/html/olapdmad/agmdxadvanced_6jn7.htm for AS2000, it talks about the calculation pass deapth, it says:
    .......If a cube has custom rollup formulas or custom rollup operators, a second calculation pass is performed to handle the computations needed to calculate these features.......
    Now from the above, it is obvious that the OLAP engine will automatically go into recursion if the formula contains a cacluated member and it knows that the calculated member has to be resolved first before calculating the final formula result. The above article also talks about 'Calculation Pass Number' property in the AdvanceCube Editor (AS2000), which can be set to the value depending on the expected number of passes required in a given scenario. I don't find such an equivalent peoperty for SSAS 2005.
    Would anybody please throw some more ideas / insights on this issue?
    Jorg, thanks  again for your input...

  • Dynamic calc member formula problem

    Hello Gurús!
    We are using a member called "Full Year" that is a Dynamic calc with a member formula that calls another dynamic calc. For any reason, it is not working when we try to retrieve it from Excel Add-in.
    Any ideas? Any problem for put a Dynamic Calc as member formula of antoher Dynamic calc?
    Thanks for your time!
    Regards,
    Ariel

    that can be the problem, depending on what dimension they are in, the order the two pass occurs could couse you issues. In cases like this I've had to put the entire calculation into the member I wanted to calculate and bypass the dependency
