Issue with WRT120N Firmware in NZ

Hi guys.
I'm residing in New Zealand and I've had the Wireless-N Home Router WRT120N for a year or so, I recently had trouble accessing the router and I am not able to reset the **bleep** thing to factory default settings so I can re-setup.
I read these forums and have seen a few posts saying the router can't be reset off of the firmware that came with the device and that you need to upgrade firmware to enable the factory reset button to work. I also found a solution that will let me boot into the router to allow me to upgrade the firmware.
Only problem is I can't seem to find an NZ WRT120N Firmware file in the downloads (there doesn't seem to be a page for it). I have however found the US firmware which is 1.0.06.
My question is can I use the US firmware on this specific router or would it mess it up?
Also if I can't, can you see any other way of fixing this?
Thanks

1. If you have bought the WRT120N in NZ contact Linksys support and ask them what to do.
2. Until then I would check the Asia Pacific regional site:

  • Issue with SUPERDRIVE FIRMWARE UPDATE 3.0

Hi! I'm having what I feel is a small issue with the SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0 that Apple released on August 31st, 2009. Software Update suggested I apply this update, as my SuperDrive's firmware (HL-DT-ST DVDRW GA11N) was KA15 and needed to be updated to KA16. Apple said on their website that this upgrade would "eliminate the noise made by the optical disk drive during system startup and wake from sleep" (as seen on http://support.apple.com/downloads/SuperDriveFirmware_Update_30). I installed it and restarted my iMac.
However, the SuperDrive's noise was not gone; it's still as loud as it was before. When I turn the iMac on, the things that I hear are, first the fans (or whatever that sound is), then the SuperDrive noise and finally, the iMac's startup sound.
Did I do something wrong? Am I missing something? Is this normal? I followed every instruction the Firmware Update installer gave me, but the noise isn't gone...
I tried to re-install it but then it would tell me that my computer wasn't eligible for the upgrade because the firmware was already up-to-date... Oh, and by the way, the SuperDrive does not make any noise when waking up from sleep mode, so it only has to do with the startup process.
I'd really appreciate some info on this issue...
    Thanks!

    Hi
you are not alone, same behaviour for me: drive is not making noise when waking from sleep, but does when starting up.
I tried resetting PRAM in case it helps, but no luck.
Not that it annoys me, I can live with this, but the update clearly doesn't do what it says.

  • Zen Nano Plus: How to resolve issues with installing firmware 1.14

So .... I managed to kill my Zen Nano Plus when installing firmware version .4.03, but fortunately I've managed to bring it back to life again. :-)
Here's what I did wrong, and how you can avoid the mistakes that I made ...
I attempted to install the newly released "Creative ZEN Nano Plus Firmware .4.03" from my Windows 2000 system. However, I had not previously installed the "Creative Mass Storage Driver .07.00.250". In fact there seemed to be no reason to install these mass storage drivers as the Nano Plus player was always recognized by my system. However, while installing the firmware upgrade, it seems that the player is set to recovery mode and therefore the mass storage driver needs to be installed prior to upgrading the firmware.
I realized this partway through the firmware upgrade when prompted for the "StMp3Rec.sys" driver. I then successfully installed the mass storage driver then attempted to continue with the firmware upgrade. Unfortunately, the firmware software "froze" and the process had to be killed. My Nano Plus player now wouldn't turn on and my system would not recognize it. I then read how to set the player in recovery mode, and was able to see the player listed as "STMP3500" when examining my attached USB hardware (using the "Unplug or Eject Hardware" dialog).
To install the driver, I then looked at all hardware in my "Device Manager" (right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", choose the "Hardware" tab, click on the "Device Manager" button) then selected the "STMP3500" device. Right clicking and selecting "Properties" (or double clicking) brings up the properties dialog and from there I chose the "Reinstall Driver" button. I specified the driver location: "C:\Program Files\Creative\Creative Mass Storage Drivers\StMp3Rec.sys" and the driver then successfully installed. Finally, I successfully installed the firmware upgrade and all is now working well.
    Here's the bottom line:
Be sure to install the "Creative Mass Storage Driver .07.00.250" prior to upgrading to the "Creative ZEN Nano Plus Firmware .4.03".
Maybe it is because I beta tested six or seven different Rio MP3 player models (until D&M Holdings discontinued the Rio brand), or because I have worked as a software developer for eight years - but I tend not to install any software that does not appear to be required. The Creative firmware upgrade software could be greatly improved by including a simple check to see if the Creative mass storage drivers are installed before accessing the player.

This has been answered many times here. Delete a few files on the player. Create a few folders on the player. Move the songs on the player into the folders. Now add more songs to the player into the folders. There is a limit on how many items the player will allow in the root.

  • Major issues with new firmware e52

Just recently upgraded to the latest firmware (I received the automatic message and had it do the upgrade). Since then instead of getting a VM message icon with VM, I get a garbled text message. Also, when I get a text message it will no longer alert me. It just shows the icon with the message but no tone (though I checked the settings.
    What's going on here?

Is anyone seeing periodic dropouts? I am seeing request time outs every couple of minutes with a ping -t www.telstra.com.au. If I'm browsing when this happens the browser hangs until connectivity is back.I had noticed my up stream power was too high but it was going okay for a week. But I suspect I've been having dropouts all along. Last night it completely dropped out. Restarting the gateway it wouldn't even receive an IP and cycled a few times. Went to bed thinking I'd leave it till morning but was up at 3am (Saturday) to go to the bathroom and it was back even though there were still drops. I jumped onto 24x7 and to my amazement got a booking for a technician for 8am-12pm and he actually showed up before 12! I definitely had issues and he ended up renewing cable ends in the pit and in my cable box as well as removing the 3 way splitter and replacing the isolator. After all that power and SNR are good but I'm still seeing drops every minute or two. The technician has logged a network fault and I'm waiting for the outcome of that. In the meantime I think I'm going to try resetting to factory default one more time. I now have the computer connected directly with static IP and default network set just to rule out other equipment in the way. That made no difference at all. Dropouts seem to last between 1 and 5 seconds (up to 4 ping packets lost) DVery frustrating.

  • Issues with Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0?

I just installed the Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0 as suggested by Software Update, Mac mini early 2009. On restart and login, the Bluetooth Firmware Update started immediately, and I have a beach ball / pinwheel cursor. No other program activity. Only menu bar items are Apple menu, Bluetooth Firmware Update, File, Edit, Window, and Spotlight.
Machine has been in this state for about 10 minutes (I wrote this on my /other/ Mac).
The Bluetooth keyboard (Apple wireless) /was/ used to login.
    Anyone else having issues?
    Thanks,
    Loyd

did install .... did restart .... now screen is gray for almost 1 hour .... really upsetting my small window for patience with the great apple gang ... have to race around to find computer to search for why and find nothing so i'll do force restart and see if that helps ....
the bluetooth update said it could take some time and to have power plugged in but they could have told how long and built in an exit ramp in case of this kinda "you're outta bizniz fellow" mess
any help out there ? thanks

  • Wireless issues with WRT120N

I have a newly purchased WRT120N and have set up a small home network.  Right now it's pretty simple:
Motorolla Surfboard S85100 cable modem>Cisco/Linksys WRT120N>AMD PhenomX4 Hp Pavilion(running Vista home premium Service pack 2)------Airport card equipped Apple Mac Pro( running Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and Leopard 10.5.8 on 2 separate drives- wireless from the router).  The Airport card is installed properly and working fine.  The router is in a centralized location upstairs on the 1st floor and the Mac Pro is in the basement(The house is not big it's 2000 sq. feet with wood floors...no metal).
The wireless to the Mac is what's important here.  It's in my basement home recording studio whereI previously had no internet  causing me to run up and down the stairs with usb flash drives for downloaded updates and software installs. I got the router to aleiviate all this exercise.....only now I'm back to it again.  In fact it's worse than it was!
For the first few weeks everything was great.  Wireless down in the studio worked great and I was able to download any file without interruption, Skype worked brilliantly!  Then...without anything being moved physically by me....Skype was poor and  Airport would be searching for the network asking to enter my key only to then time me out!?  To combat this I've had re-start after re-start, running upstairs and un-plugging the router, moving the router around, etc......and getting a signal when I'm booted into Leopard is even worse.  I'm just short of going out and getting a 40ft. ethernet cable and hardwiring to the Mac Pro but that is not only more money than the router and the Airport card put together but dashes the whole wireless concept(which is supposed to work!).  Do I need to get a better router with more bandwidth?(The salesperson I spoke with said this one would be all I need to do what I wanted and He had a basement setup too).
Seriously what can I do to make this work for me!?

Login to the setup page of your router and click on the Wireless tab and below change the Wireless Channel to 1 0r 11 and then click on the sub tab Advance Wireless tab and below Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • WRT120N connection issues with Apple devices

my family has a plethora of devices we connect to the internet wirlessly through our relatively new WRT120N router, including a desktop, 3 laptops, 2 iPhones, 2 iPod Touches, an iPad, and a Playstation 3.
The wireless on the laptops and desktop (all are PCs) is fine, but the wireless on the Apple devices is terrible. every 5 seconds or so the signal will drop and the devices will lose the connection with the wifi. You have to go to settings and wireless to reconnect, but that will only last you another 15 seconds (if you're lucky). I have updated the firmware on the router, but it didn't do anything.
Does anybody have an idea of how to fix this problem? It's ridiculously annoying, and I have a feeling can be fixed with relative ease, especially since it's just the Apple products that are affected.
    Thanks!

    @ jimmypat1221,
Same here and I did some research and here’s what I found.  I accessed the router settings by typing the 192.168.1.1 (http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=856544c9d38d4e7a870493667aac568b_20603.xml&pid=80&...) and I found out that the firmware is not updated, so I upgraded the firmware my self. I downloaded first the firmware (http://support.linksys.com/en-apac/support/routers/WRT120N) and saved it to my desktop screen. Going back to the router settings and I just follow this link on how to upgrade (http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=96&vw=1&articleid=4030) and it was successfully upgraded.  I set my set settings on the router with channel 11 and the security was wpa2 personal. From then on I don’t have issue with any of my apple devices.

  • Problems with EFI Firmware Update to 1.5 for mid 2010 Mac Pro, and sleep issues

Hello to the community, I have run into an annoying issue.
I need to update the EFI firmware on my 8 core mid-2010 Mac Pro. I downloaded the EFI update from the apple website from here : http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1321
But everytime I download it, as I click to install, it gives me the message:
    Alert
This software is not supported on your system.
But clearly this is the correct EFI for my computer. I tried burning the Firmware restoration onto a CD from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1320
But the computer did not respond the way it said it should (with the 3 flashes/beeps etc.) and have the optical drive open for the CD.
    So I'm completely stuck.
*Also my Mac Pro had issues with sleep, when I put it to sleep, sometimes when I try to bring it back, it restarts itself, and other times, it just turns itself on and the monitor screen remains black, so I have to hit the power button to turn it off then back on again. This only happnens when the computer has been put to sleep for a slightly extended period of time, roughly 20mins +, sometimes longer.  I was trying to solve this problem by first updating the firmware because I think it could be related to that, but I've had this problem with the firmware so I couldn't find out. This is actually the bigger problem for me because it will affect my work. I am currently using an iMac while I fix up this mac pro.
I'm a music composer so I've upgraded many aspects of my system due to work. I have a 1TB Samsung 840 evo SSD, 2 seagate 2 TB HDD, and 1 WD 1TB HD (the original one in the mac pro), along with 32 GB of RAM. So my only problems are the firmaware and the weird activity when the computer is put to sleep.
Some help would be greatly appreciated!

  • FIRMWARE ISSUES WITH CREATIVE ZEN V P

    What is going on?!?!!
Just about every other thread i've read on here somebody has my same problem:
) My Zen V Plus was not recognized by my computer and it was always stuck on "rebuilding library" when i turned it on but when it got halfway through, it stopped, and all the music i already had on it was inaccesible.
    2) I tried reformating, cleaning up, and, when i tried reloading the firmware,? my player became completely useless!!!!!
Trust me guys, i tried everything else that was suggested on the threads prior to 3/3/08, i even e-mailed someone from CREATIVE,?but when i reloaded?the firmware, it was all over. To top it off, my warranty is no good anymore.
But what surprises me more is the fact that so many have the same problem?and the?guys from CREATIVE still haven't figured out a solution.

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure how i did it but i will explain as best as i can.
Okay, my problem was that my player was not recognized by my computer when i plugged it in, yet my player was in recovery mode when i plugged it in.
So i went to the RECOVERY TOOL on this website. Like the previous times, it said my player wasn't plugged in. At that moment, i quickly unplugged my player and reformatted it, but while it was formatting itself i plugged it back in, while the RECOVERY TOOL was waiting for my player.
Suddenly my Windows Explorer prompted me to choose if i wanted to sync it with windows media player or to just open the files it contained. I WAS SO SURPRISED! But was even more surprising was that the RECOVERY TOOL finally recognized it and i inmediatley updated my firmware...
So there you have it guys, if you're having trouble like i was, just unplug your player when using the RECOVERY TOOL, start FORMATTING it and while it's formatting, quickly plug it back in.
I hope this helps and thanks? for all of your tips and information.
NOTE: my sync manager still didn't recognize the player but i think it has something to do with software compatability issues with Vista, even though it worked the first time when bought my player. But my Windows Media Player works just fine with it. :smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy::smileyvery-happy:

having trouble with my Airport Utility not supporting either of my Airports Expresses or Basestation. Do i have to update Firmware of airports or is the issue with my version of Utility which i believe is the latest. Thank you.

AirPort Utility in Mountain Lion will not support the older versions of the AirPort Express.....model numbers A1084 and A1088. Check on the side of the Express for the model number.
In addition, AirPort Utility in Mountain Lion will not support the older "round" or "dome" shaped versions of the AirPort Extreme.
Can you check to see how your devices might be affected?

  • Issue with WRVS4400N v2 bandwith rate control (firmware 2.0.1.3)

I have an issue with the QOS setting / bandwith rate control.
I've tested it with a new factory config.
Setup : limit my IP (all ports) to max rate at 512 Kbit/sec (min rate to 1 Kbit/sec) in downstream and enable checked.
When I test my speed, there is no limit.
If it try the exact setup with a RVS4400 (without wireless) it works fine!!!
Does anyone have this issue or know how to solve it???
    Thanks in advance
    Al
Here is my setup... (and yes when I made sure I'm using 192.168.1.101 while doing the test...)

I have upgraded to the latest firmware V 2.0.2.1 with no difference.
The Rate control function is not working at all.
Cicso doesnt appear to want to fix it.

  • Mar-2015 firmware for hp 8620 solves my issue with 6x4 paper not being picked up

I had continual problems with my hp 8620 not picking up 6x4 photo paper.
I tried a number of fixes as suggested elsewhere on forums. I had the most success with the "scan and copy 99 blank a4 pages" workaround, but half the time the printer would still fail to feed the 6x4 on the first go.
Good news though, the latest firmware dated Mar 17 2015 has resolved this for me, and maybe it will improve it for others with the same problem.
    The firmware says:
"This firmware upgrade is for HP Officejet Pro 8620/8625 e-All-in-One Printers.
    File name: OJP8620_R1502A.zip
    Release details
    Released: Mar 17, 2015
    Version FDP1CN1502AR
    Fix and enhancements
    Improvement to connectivity robustness
    Improvement to paper-path reliability"
    The link is here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Officejet-Pro-8620-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/53...

I just spent several hours troubleshooting this printer. My rollers were all clean. I then used a bright flashlight and monitored thru the front what it was doing when trying to load paper.. There is a grey wheel that is lowered to the paper and rotates pulling the sheet in. It simply just isn't getting lowered enough because its just spinning on top of the paper. I've tried a dozen different types of paper from heavy/thick to thin. I've tried fanning the paper and I've tried not fanning the paper. I've tried a full stack of paper down to a few sheets and everywhere in between. This is just a flawed printer and based on the hundreds of people I see having the exact same issues with this printer so soon afte purchase is an eye opener. {Content Removed: no legal discussion permitted} I'm simply this fed up with my last several HP printer purchases. Anyone else that is as fed up with me please {Personal Information Removed}. I'm going to start tracking down as many people as I can. I'll likely move this discussion to a third party forum, hopefully one with a very high volume of traffic so if this post mysteriously disappears google search for it.

  • Issue with magsafe/charging (blinks green, amber, off)

Having a quirky issue with my mid-2009 Macbook Pro.
A month or so ago, I began having an issue with my macbook charging. When the computer is up and running and I plug in the magsafe it will say "Calculating..." and then say "Not Charging" and then switch to battery use. It constantly does this as long as the magsafe is connected. The lights on the magsafe will constantly cycle from green to amber to no light.
At first, it would do it a few times then it would start charging. Now it constantly does this without ever stopping. I was editing video the other day for a while and it never stopped the cycle.
Thinking it was the battery, I took it into the Apple Store last week and got a new battery because it had been saying "Service battery" for a while and the battery would only last about 20 minutes on a charge. So I just thought the battery finally refused to charge.
    But the problem still exists.
The magsafe is new (only 3 months old) and here's the quirky thing: the computer will charge if it's asleep (lid closed) or shut down completely. No blinking lights at all. It will charge as long as it's asleep or shut down. So I don't think it's the charger. But as soon as you hit the power button to starting booting up, it will blink.
I have reset the SMC a couple times actually, but no change.
Is there something software/firmware related that I haven't tried? Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I take it back to the Apple Store (which is about an hour away).
    Thanks!

  • Issues with logging in to CC and missing features

My team is using CC on corporate environment PCs, Win 7 64bit. Some of the problems we have seen are:
When we buy a new adobe license for a new user our IT department has to install the Creative Cloud desktop manager and software on their PC. They do this by using an admin windows account and the new adobe login. Everything works fine for them, they are able to log in to CC and install the software, When the user logs in with their windows account and try to log in to CC with the same adobe id then they get the common issue with the sync button just turning and never logs them in. In some cases this is fixed by deleting the OOBE folder from the admin local profile allowing the other user to log in to CC but most times the IT has to resolve to rebuilding the PC and starting again.
We also hotdesk in my team.I found that when i work on my laptop or another desktop pc in the team everything is fine but if i have to use a different PC for the day i log in but don't have all the features (I can get the home feed, fonts, etc, but not the app installers)
Another member of my team works fine on that same PC but on a different PC she doesn't have all features. She gets the app installers, but not some of the other features.
It all seems to be a bit random as to who can access what.
Our corporate firewall is open to most Adobe servers, unless there is something we have missed. PCs have Adobe Air 3.1.0.4880.
These issues have been happening for months now and IT have spend hours to resolve.
Anyone else has issues using Creative Cloud in a corporate environment and are there any suggestions we can use please?

There isn't any capability for the OpenBootProm prompt
(the OK prompt you might see on your screen)
to ask you for a username or a password.
The OBP is a firmware level of the SPARC platform, not an OS nor a mini-OS.
If you have consoled in through the SF280R's RSC card, it might have its own password prompt, but the OBP itself can't do that. Additionally, the RSC doesn't show you the OK prompt either (certainly not to the extent that the more sophisticated LOM, ALOM, ILOM or System Controllers of other system designs might have.).
You made mention that you eventually see a cursor that is sitting at a prompt that shows:
Happy@solaris11 $If that is what you see, then I think you're already logged into the OS. That would seem to be a C-shell prompt, with you logged into a fully booted system named "solaris11" as username "Happy".
Consequently, I'll be asking that your post be moved out of the Servers'General hardware forum, and into the General Solaris 11 forum. You don't seem to have a hardware issue, but perhaps just an issue with being unfamiliar with Solaris. (You didn't describe your experience level in the initial post.)
