ITunes 11.1 crashing with no activity
Over the last 3 days, iTunes 11.1 has crashed a total of 7 times. All crashes happened when my iMac was idle, and I was away. I always leave iTunes running in the background, and when I come back, and if it's not running, I check the logs using the Console utility and confirm it crashed.
Does anyone know what's going on?

Hey all I figured out what solved this issue for me. It just surprises me that Apple doesn't take a more active role in these posts and chime in. The solution for me was to remove all of my devices from iTunes that were automatically setup to sync over wifi. I had about 10 devices. I was using this feature to update apps and songs over wifi. I like this feature because it is great for managing my children's devices. But after I changed each one to not "sync with this iPad over Wi-FI" iTunes has been stable and no more crashes. I am sad that I had to disable this feature but happy that iTunes is stable once again. Hope this helps you all!

Fresh install with all older itunes un-installed as well as other Apple software.
Now cannot get any songs, videos, or even scan library folder for songs to work on the computer.
itunes just simply crashes with no error comments.
This is itunes 10.5 on a Windows 7 Pro system.Same here, though on XP. Have tried cleaning registry, reinstalling, deleting preferences. Created a new user with no library and I have the problem there, too, so it's not the library.

ITunes sync executables crashes with long System Variable Value
There is a System Variable: ESET_OPTIONS on my PC. The value of it is 2079 white spaces,
It looks like iTunes sync executables crashes when it trying to sync my iphone5s with outlook due to this System Variable.
I'm using Windows 8.1 x64 and outlook 2013 pro+ x64, both with latest updates installed. iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows (64-bit)

Itunes 5 install crash with a 1920
I am trying to install Itunes 5. I receive the 1920 error and go to the apple support site and follow the sugested procedures.
I don't use Norton and I run Msconfig. I find Window Instrumentation which is enabled but not running.
I don't use Norton.
I reboot PC and still get the 1920. Several times.
My Windows Spyware questions me about boujour and I tell it to not block it.
My isp is Mozilla Firefox and my virus protection is AVG FREE.
I have Windows Firewall installed.
I would appreciate any help as I would like to upgrade as the new features seem attractive. I would like to see an improvement in the search capabilities.

There were three files that I couldn't empty in the temp directory.
I uninstalled all prior versions of itunes and quicktime.
I had uninstalled itunes but there was one of quicktime that I got rid of.
Deleted shortcuts.
Ran Windows Istall Cleanup and itunes and quiktime didn't exist, as I expected because of the prior steps.
I attemmpted to reload and it hung again at the 70% load point.
Is there a list of the anti-virus programs that cause itunes to bomb? I use AVG FREE for the internet and I really don't know how to temporarily disable it. Should I also disable the Windows Firewall and the spyware softeware. I feel very, very uncomfortable disabling software.
Personally, I don't ever recall having such problems installing software.

ITunes crashes with BlueTooth audio - JAMBOX
iTunes freezes and crashes with error code 13014 when trying to launch while a BlueTooth audio device is tuned on - in this case, a Jawbone JAMBOX. It can pair successfully, but connection can be intermittant and often a reboot is needed for the connection to stabilize. iTunes has worked okay when the Jambox is in MONO mode over BlueTooth, but when it is in STEREO mode, the Jambox crashes iTunes.
Anyone know anything about the JAMBOX used with iTunes, or more specifically, with a MBP early 2011 running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and iTunes v10.4 ?
ThanksI have also had this problem with my MacBook Pro. It's not all the time, but often with Jambox on, iTunes freezes. Turn it off, and iTunes plays just fine. Also get awful quality when trying to use Jambox with some feeds from Firefox. From the comments of others, this seems to be an Apple problem rather than a Jambox problem. Any thoughts?

Itunes win xp crash everytime it downloads
Every time I goto download a podcast or even from the ITUNES STORE it crashes with the WinXp blue screen of death!!! I have bought songs which I cannot download because of this stupid crash..
what could be causing this?Are you upto date with all program updates for Norton 2005, I used to use it quite happily with iTunes 7, but it is pretty out of date now, they are now upto Norton 2008.
I am currently on Norton 2007, and I have found it less troublesome than 2005. You could try reinstalling your Norton to see if that helps.
If you feel like fiddling about, you could try briefly disabling Norton to see if that helps - if it does, it would nail Norton as the problem, it shouldn't be too dangerous if you access the internet via a router/firewall.
You could check your computer manufactuers download site to make sure you are uptodate with your various drives etc. It would be worth seeing if there is a BIOS update.
But you should contact Norton support to see if they have any information about this. I found them quite helpful over a different problem, although they didn't solve my problem and I had to devise my own work around.
They may recommend a complete removal using the the Norton removal tool and a reinstall if they can't persuade you to upgrade. As you probably know a simple uninstall of Norton does not remove everything.
When I used the Norton removal tool I had to do a repair install of iTunes to get it going again.
P.S. using the removal tool reset the clock on my subscription, a small bonus for the trouble.

updated to iTunes 10.7 from app Store last night. After the update, iTunes opens then stalls with the "spinning pizza wheel". Force Quit is unresponsive and will not shut it down. If I then open other applications say Safari for example, the problem migrates over to Safari and it similarly stalls and becomes unresponsive. The only way to solve the problem is to manually shut the computer down. This is the most significant problem I have experienced on an apple computer since OSX was introduced because it impacts on Force Quit which means that you have to shut the whole deal down. There are obvious problems for use of Apple TV and apple store etc. ! I am running mountain lion 10.8.1 on a 27" iMac with 2T Time Capsule connected wirelessly. How do I downgrade iTunes back to 10.6? I had no problems with Mountain Lion or iTunes up to that point.
this is the exact same problem i've been dealing with for the past 2 days. after i installed itunes 10.7 for my iphone5 it would crash my mbp's lion system wide. i tried every solution i could find on google and i've actually had to reinstall lion & time machine my backups because of it. right now i'm too scared to redownload itunes 10.7. i actually feel like waiting for the "new itunes" that comes out in october.

I have recently got an iPhone 4 out of no where it has decided to think that my headphones are in and they are not but does work with headphones in.
Then later on within the same day it after turning my phone on and putting it on charge it comes to the screen stating to connect to iTunes/emergency calls only/no service so I connect it iTunes and it says we are unavailable to continue with your activation at this time. Please try again later, or contact customer care.
HELP!the same problem but i used it already for 3 years my iphone 4, when i update to ios 6.1.3 version, now is failure like said.

Itunes crashes with no crash report and won't let me delete the app...
If noone can help me I may seriously lose it...
Mactel user with recent crash issues with itunes...crashes consistently about twenty to thirty seconds after opening and offers no crash report...downloaded appzapper and when I try to empty my trash bin I get the following message which I suspect may have something to do with the crashing:
The operation cannot be completed becasue the item "ituneshelper" is in use.
This was happening with 7.0 and now with 7.1...any ideas??

I've been unable to use iTunes for over 3 weeks now.
Initially, it would prompt me to Sign In with my Apple ID and password each time it tried to start, and when I clicked Sign In, it'd respond with variations of:
"Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance."
or
De-authorize/Authorize.
Frustrated, I'd click Cancel, and it'd crash with:
"An unknown error occurred (-1008)."
or
"An unknown error occurred (-50)."
More recently, I don't even get the Sign In prompt any more. iTunes now just crashes immediately with unknown error (-50) as soon as it tries to start.
It is clear that this issue has more to do with the Apple ID than with iTunes specifically, because some of the apps I purchased directly from the App Store (OmniFocus, Fantastical and Forismatic) now prompt me to Sign In with my Apple ID and password each time they try to start, and they never did before. And when I try to sign, they respond with the error:
"Your device or computer could not be verified. Contact support for assistance."
Apparently, this is an issue a whole lot of people are experiencing, judging by the long list of Google search returns on the subject; but I'm yet to find a definitive, "official" Apple solution to the problem.
My Apple ID is the same as it's always been.
If anyone knows what's really causing this and/or can offer a fix, please H-E-E-E-L-P? I'll even pay to make it go away. I abandoned Windows after 26 years, only to discover that no platform is spared the blackhole of unknown errors.

My main PC with my Itunes Library just crashed. I still have all my music on Apple TV, Ipod Touch (Gen 2), and Iphone 4 (verizon). How can I get everything set up on a new PC and working ?
I downloaded Itunes 10.2 on new desktop, ran sync with my ipod touch (Gen 2) and have all my music on new PC. Just can't get it to sync with my Apple TV (Gen1). I have made music purchases on Apple TV and cannot get them to Ipod/Iphone? Help

I tried to restore, update and back up my ipod touch. once it said it was successful i clicked on the label of my ipod in itunes and it had written, "we're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time." now whenever i click on the label it just says that and on my ipod it tells me to plug into itunes when it already is. i didnt update restore or back it up with the latest version, so i downloaded the latest version, how do i start the process again so my ipod works!! help this is gay !!
Hmm, well... iTunes trys to activate your iPod using the Apple server to make sure you have bought it legit.
Two things come into my mind:
1) Your iTunes can't access the internet.
2) Apples activation servers are down.
That's just my cents, maybe anyone else has an idea. -
My computer crashed with all my itunes files. I was able to get some off and transfer them to another computer. I am afraid to sync my ipod to the new computer becaused I do not want to loose all of my playlists and other music. Will this happen?
To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them. -

I even loaded an earlier itunes version, it worked without crashing, but it still did not recognize iphone or ipad.

Our Windows PC crashed with all our music on it. There are copies of both purchased (thru iTunes store) and from our own CDs on an external HD in a backup file. They are not linked to a Media file. Is there any way I can put this music on my new computer?
