ITunes missing and can't reinstall

I just received a new video iPod 60 gb and now the iTunes program is missing. I have tried to install and it will not allow. Installer says that I don't need to install anything. I did a search in spotlight and everything is gone. The music and playlist file are there, but nothing else. Not even a library document. How can I reinstall iTunes off of the downloaded program from Apples site.
Thanks for the assistance.

I was having the same problem, and this solution worked perfectly. Thanks so much! These discussions are so much more helpful than Apple support docs = )

My MacBook Pro has 10.5.8 but came with 10.5.7 install disc and won't boot up and can't reinstall.
the disc is spinning and I see the apple on the screen with the spinning gear and after a while it just turns off OR the few times it does get past that point when I go into disc utility it tells me that it can not install on this machine!
It's driving me crazy, please help!!!

    Welcome to the Apple community.
I'm not entirely sure I follow you here, home sharing comes with iTunes 10.2, so far as I am aware even iTunes 10.6.1 only requires OS X 10.5.8 or better. On that basis I'm not sure why you think you have a problem.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I recently installed itunes update and can no longer connect to network nor internet

I recently (sept 2013) installed itunes update and can no longer connect to a network nor internet wired /wireless. I know it is not the gateway as other devices work. Please help. I am not very knowledgable so exact instructions will be most helpful.

Try connecting your computer/laptop directly to the base station with an ethernet cable to one of the external ports and install your network settings. If it finds it there, it will find it after you've reloaded your network info to the base via the Apple Utility. Hopefully when you disconnect afterward, all will be fine. Be sure not to select "closed" network although Macs will login with no prolem, PC's have trouble doing so even with the network data stored in the internet settings.
    Good luck!

  • I have iTunes credit and can't buy nothing

I have iTunes credit and can't buy nothing

As planb77 says, which is why we specifically did not buy Apple  when looking for a mp3 player.  We bought a Sansa Clip.  Note that just about any non-Apple brand will have issues with Macs because the syncing software is only written for Windows, but at least  you can find workarounds such as manually copying music files (which iPods do not allow).
We recently inherited an iPod Shuffle and somebody else gave me a 11 year old PC running Windows XP which I am going to set up so we can use the Shuffle.  I agree it's ironic that I cannot run the Shuffle from my newer Mac computer but can run it from a real junker PC.

  • Lost serial number for microsoft office and can't reinstall on new hard drive

I recentlyt had to replace the hard drive on MacBook Pro and can't reinstall Microsoft Office because I don't have the required  serial #. I think it was originally installed when I bought the computeer at an Apple store. Any ideas about how to solve this problem?

Try contacting MS and see if they have the registration code since they had to activate it originally.
Do you have the receipt from your original purchase?  That will itemize what was installed beyond the packaged operating system material.  That will add proof of purchase.

  • I am missing itunes.msi and can not update my itunes and it will not let me remove and re install.  how do i fix this

i am missing Itunes.msi on my computer.  it wont let me unistall and re-install - how can i fix this

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
    (2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Upgraded itunes, ipod crashed and can't reinstall.

    hi,
i upgraded to the new version of itunes yesterday, and then itunes wouldn't recognize my ipod (classic, 160 GB). i kept getting the error message "itunes can't read the contents of rachel's ipod." (http://forums.ilounge.com/windows-ipod-discussion-problems/173979-itunes-cant-re ad-contents-my-ipod.html). i put it in disk mode and rebooted it, formatted it, and changed the name of the ipod, and did the software update through itunes.
after doing all that, i was able to copy about 500 songs before it crashed again. i uninstalled itunes and tried to reinstall it, but i cannot reinstall. i am getting the error message "itunes64setup.exe is not a valid win32 application." (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/erro r-itunes64setupexe-is-not-a-valid-win32/95eebf65-81f1-4997-8f30-5c1b5d84cc1a)
i am running firefox on windows 7, and also read some threads about installing it in IE, but that didn't work either. i am getting the same "itunes...is not a valid win32 app."
i bought my ipod not even a month ago. help!
    thanks,
    rachel

  • TS1277 Tried to install latest version of itunes and got MSVCR80.DLL is missing and can't open Itunes at all?

Can anyone help me with this as it only happened when I tried to update my latest version of ITUNES

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • I am missing the file itunes.msi and can't upgrade to 10.5, please advise a fix

Tryin to download latest update for itunes.
get error message that update process not finding the file itunes.msi and therefore the update installation stops.
And I can't uninstall itunes from Control Panel.........as it also needs this file to uninstall.
    What to do?

    There is a Microsoft fixit for uninstall problems which I haven't tried yet, but it is worth a go;
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
I would be interested to know if it works, otherwise:
This type of problem can usually be fixed with the Microsoft installer cleanup utility.
Unfortunately the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility has been withdrawn by Microsoft because of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office so you will need to find a copy elsewhere – the installer is msicuu2.exe. You need version 3.
    Google  msicuu2.exe download
mydigitallife in the above search has a copy of version 3
Check for malware before installing it.
After installing, To run the program  – All Programs>>Windows Install
If you get  permission denied error, Try Run as Administrator – an option if you right click on the program.
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did *not* uninstall, look out for entries that start All Users that are blank entries or have numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Download iTunes if you haven't already done so:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    Try installing iTunes.
