ITunes no longer supported on PPC MACS!!

This can't be right?? Apple is leaving all it's long time supporters using PPC macs out in the cold for future updates to iTunes? But they are still supporting Windows XP and up??  Please tell me this is just an oversight and a fix is coming. For those of you wondering about why iTunes will not update on your MAC, if you don't have a Intel machine, you are out of luck it seems.

Dosn't support the original iPad?
My mom had that problem but we went through it all and updated to ios 5 without any real problems. You do need to have the ipad connected to the computer to get the update for vsn 5
But it worked on her original iPad. There were some scary messages about it not being backed up and stuff for many of her apps. My theory is those apps weren't recognized by the older ios she was running.
Are you seeing this in the system requirements for ios 5?

  • Getting msg that version of Safari no longer supported on my mac snow leopard, ver. 10.6.8.  I have no extensions

How do I satisfy request to upgrade browser - version of Safari no longer supported?  I have a mac, snow leopard, ver. 10.6.8 & I have no extensions & upgraded software from Apple pull-down menu.  Msg is still there.

You need to upgrade the computer's OS or switch browsers.
To upgrade, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Mavericks. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

  • HT4739 Support for PPC Macs

So did Update 10 fix the vulnerability in Java 1.6.0_24? I can't tell from the description.

    Bob
You may be right--been having trouble lately with Java on Safari 5.0.6 on PPC and heard there was an issue with Java and Apple is no longer supporting PPC.
    Thanks for your interest.

  • Does iTunes no longer support older iPods?

Does anyone know if Apple has discontinued support for older ipods (in my case, a 2nd gen classic, 20gb, released in 2002).  ITunes will no longer recognize this ipod since iTunes ver10.6.  I thought maybe iTunes 11 would fix it, but it has not.  This is on a mac mini, 2009 edition.  I then tried it on a PC laptop which still has iTunes 10.5, and the ipod was recognized.
I don't use the old ipod much, but I would still like to change the music on it from time to time.
    Any insight would be appreciated.

Huh. I just downloaded iTunes 11 a couple days ago, and my iPod (a 2nd generation iPod nano, 4 GB) still works. I think it should work.
What I did, is I had my iPod connected back when I converted from like, iTunes 10.5 to iTunes 10.6, I think maybe the iTunes can then be recognized? I know when I had iTunes 9.(something...), and I tried connecting to a computer with 10.9 (I think. well, one of those), it wouldn't work. So maybe, you have to go step by step? Although my iPod wasn't connected when I was upgrading to iTunes 11, so that's just a theory.
Try going on the PC laptop and then keeping your iPod connected when upgrading to iTunes 10.6, see if that works

  • Itunes no longer supports AOL names?

So I signed up with an aol name years ago on iTunes. I bought a bunch of music under it.
I recently got a new computer. And when I come across a song that I purchased before it gives me the message saying I need to authorize the new computer to play it. But then I try to sign in under the aol name and it tells me that these names no longer work.
So how do I sign in to get all my old songs?
I have a new user ID, but when I sign in there I can't access the songs I bought under my aol name.
    Any ideas?

I had the same problem awhile ago. I emailed customer support and had the agent reassign my AOL screen name to an Apple ID. That allowed me to have access to the download history, as I recall. It's been awhile, so Apple may do things differently these days, but it is worth trying to figure out if you can reach someone in customer support to address this issue for you.

Norton has a pop-up window warning that they are not protecting my web browsing while using this version of Firefox 16.0.1.

Can you ask this question to norton support too...As far as we know Norton support Firefox 16.

  • Flashplayer no longer supported for power pc? can't see any videos

can not download flashplayer to see videos When I do it says devis with power pc processors are no longer supported. Any one else having this issue?

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFl ash
You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25, 10.3.x beta, or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.0.1.152 is for Lion.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • ITunes no longer able to sync with Outlook

    Hello,
This is my first ever post on any forum so please go easy on me.
I have an iPhone 4s, and iPad1 and run Windows7. I recently tried using iCloud but didn't like the Outlook calendar (appearance or speed) so wanted to go back to just syncing via my USB cable.
I have followed all steps on here, restoring the iPhone, removing and reinstalling iTunes completely (5 times now) and my phone and iPad will no longer sync, they just sit in never land at either backing up calendar or contacts (I have tried leaving them on for hours at a time). I have now lost my calendar and all of the music off the iPhone so hoping for a solution.
I have heard iTunes no longer supports syncing via iTunes, they want you to use iCloud but can't find anything definitive on this but it would explain why I can't get this to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I feel like I have tried everything.
    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried using Google's sync services that are free yet? It sounds to me like you are not using Exchange for your iPhone with work. So, that would leave it open to use with Google. Keep your Google sync with your work calendar (Outlook), then sync up the Google Calendar with iCal so you have the calendar at home. Separately, setup your iPhone to sync real-time with your Google Calendar using the Microsoft Exchange settings. If all you are trying to do is get your one calendar to be the same everywhere, that will do it and it's all free. Here are links to instructions:

    *Google Calendar Sync To iPhone:*

*Google Calendar Sync To Outlook (sounds like you already have this setup):*

Unless I missed a detail, I think that does it for you.

  • 5th generation ipod games no longer supported???

I have a 60 GB 5th generation iPod video. I had a hard drive crash and lost all of the games that I had downloaded from the itunes store. Now, iTunes has restored all of my purchased items, but my 5th generation games don't seem to have appeared during the download. And, when I go to the app store, I can't even seem to find the games available for download anymore. Does iTunes no longer support games for the 5th generation iPod????

Hover the mouse over Apps, click the triangle which appears, and choose iPod Click Wheel games.

  • PPC Mac restore from GUID Partition on exterior HDD?

In order to provide a bootable backup for my Intel iMac, I plan to reformat my external firewire/USB HDD (Maxtor OneTouch II) into several partitions using the GUID partition scheme. My question is whether I can use the remaining partitions on the Maxtor to do non-bootable backups of my G4 and iBook computers. With respect to my iBook, for example, if I clone its hard drive to one of the Maxtor GUID partitions, can I then, booting from the iBook installation disk, use DU to restore it back to my iBook as a fully functional system? My objective is to avoid buying a second external hard drive to support the PPC Macs.

    Hi-
It's best to just get a retail version of Leopard for your PPC machine, especially since asking how to use the install discs from one machine, which are licensed to only one machine, is asking someone to tell you how to violate the EULA.

  • I currently have Leopard, and there are no longer updates for it. So I must upgrade to either Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion. Without doing so I cannot update my itunes, and my ipod is no longer compatile with my mac. How can I buy the upgrade

I currently have Leopard, and there are no longer updates for it. So I must upgrade to either Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion. Without doing so I cannot update my itunes, and my ipod is no longer compatile with my mac. How can I buy the upgrade, since I do not have access to the mac store as that comes with Snow Leopard? I went to Best Buy and they said neither Snow Leopard or Mountain Lion can be bought there.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade all the way to Mountain Lion:
