Itunes shuts down when I connect my ipod video

I have a ipod video 60gb (the one right before they released the 80gb). I recently had to reinstall OS 10.4 due to freezing issues. Well, it still freezes, and it froze during the re-sync of the ipod and I had to reboot the ipod cause I had to reboot the computer. Now whenever I connect the ipod, it is recognized by the CPU, but whenever Itunes starts up with the ipod connected, it just shuts right down.
Help...

A windows error message appears saying iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.
let's get a crash log from itunes, and send it to the Apple engineers for a look.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
drwtsn32 -i
And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and and send it as an attachment to this email address.

  • ITunes shuts down when I connect my IPod

    Hello to all.
Everytime I connect my IPod to my PC, iTunes shuts down. If I disconnect the IPod, I can use iTunes. What happened? I already installed the newest software. The problem is new for me, some days ago I could use ITunes normally with my IPod. The second problem is, that I cant see and hear my music, which is still on my IPod. This problem exists since I got the problem with iTunes.

I would uninstall the ipod and itunes software, reboot and then reinstall it all.

  • Itunes keeps shutting down when I connect my IPod Classic

Itunes shuts down whenever I connect my IPOD classic  and sync attempts to start.  I have had this IPod for several years and I have had Windows 7 for over 6 months.  I am trying to update versions, but I get an error message with that also.I have also seen posts on Microsoft and they aren't helpful.....I have seen many posts on Itunes also regarding same issue. What is up when the company will not fix their problems with the products?

I downloaded the 64bit system....did it like 3 times.   Finally, I found some other helpful hints.  I tried loading ITUNES in safe mode, still couldn't get it to not shutdown once I connected the IPod, I then logged into one of my other user accounts, then I was able to restore the settings, however, it removed all my songs and syned with the Itunes on that user acct (which was my nano IPod).  That was ok, because then I was able to go back to my regular account and sync and updated all my songs....just had to have my kids authorize me again on Itunes.  Think it's a racket to keep upgrading, changing things and not supporting the stuff that still works.....my classic works just fine nd holds 5,000 songs...I only have about 1500; so I have long way to go.  When my display cracked and the LCD was all messed up. I sent it to IFIXIPODS fast.com and they replaced it, quick and cheap--hats off to them!

  • Itunes shuts down when I try to sync videos

I have successfully synced videos in the past.  Recently, Itunes shuts down every time it trys to synch the videos.

Are you trying to sync them from the photos tab?
If so, try importing the videos into itunes and then syncing them from the movies tab.
You'll also want to uncheck 'Sync Videos' in the photos tab.

  • Computer shuts down when I connect my Ipod Touch to it.

Each time I go to connect my Ipod touch to my computer, I get the blue screen of death appear on my computer with a huge error message and then it shuts down, 'To protect itself'
I have tried to connect my Ipod Nano and thats fine, works no problems.
I have followed various advice notes from Apple with no joy of sorting the problem out.

I've been having the same issue with my 2nd gen itouch. My computer would crash and show a blue screen after I connected my itouch. My other IPODS would work fine. After unistalling/reinstalling several times, restoring my computer to an earlier date, and updating all usb drivers, I was still having my computer crash with my itouch. If you have a webcam, type in the following in the search support: What to do when Windows XP or Vista computer displays a blue screen error message when syncing the iPhone or iPod touch.
I solved my issue with solution one. My itouch is connecting fine without any crashes, for now. Hope this solves your issue.

  • ITunes shuts down when attempting to sync iPod nano (4th gen)

Ever since I upgraded to iTunes8, I haven't been able to sync my iPod nano.
When I plug the nano into my laptop, iTunes pops up as usual, but then immediately stops working. A box reading: itunes has stopped working pops up, then the program closes automatically.
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, resetting the iPod and trying to restore the iPod to get new stuff on it, but iTunes just shut down again as it was starting to restore the iPod.
SO- I have lost everything on my iPod-- I can't use it for anything! It's really frustrating, and I'm not sure what to do at this point!
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

  • Itunes shuts down when loading music to ipod Touch

I just bought a new PC running Windows 7. Everything is set up correctly in iTunes. When I first synced the iPod Touch it loaded about a third of my music before I got an error message saying iTunes had stopped working and needed to shut down. Now, as soon as it tries to load the music, iTunes stops working again and I have to shut it down. It's always at the point where iTunes attempts to load the music (not at the start of the sync process).

I've solved it. I was using a 3rd party USB cable, which wasn't playing nicely with the iPod. As soon as I used the proper cable it worked perfectly. Apologies to Apple and shame on you Logic3 for making crappy cables!

  • ITUNES shuts down whenever I connect my IPOD for updating...

Whenever I open iTunes and connect my IPOD for updating get the windows message saying "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience... bla bla bla , send or dont send error report". Both Ipod and itunes work well but ipod can't be updated.
Earlier today, i reinstall iTunes and then updated it to the latest version available on line but the "error" continues.
    What shall I do????
    Please HELP me!!!!!

First uninstall iTunes AND quicktime in control panel>add remove. Goto acer web site and download any patches and updates they offer, especailly for iTunes issues for your model.
Now disable any antivirus programs and security programs and things then goto apple.com and download/install the latest version of iTunes, don't install what came with your iPod on CD for its likly outdated by now anyways. When its done installing, reboot the PC

  • ITunes shuts down when I try to play video

Every time I try to open a TV show or movie on my iTunes, a window pops up that says "iTunes has stopped working."
And then it shuts down. Anyone have any crafty solutions for me? Is it my fault? Did I anger the gremlins, or do I just need to download something?

Correction: Movies play just fine. Apparently it's only the tv shows that kill my iTunes. Any help is much appreciated.

  • New iMac but iTunes shuts down when I download or add "purchased" videos.

I just bought a new iMac, first I went to an Apple store and inquired that my main use would be with iTunes. I began to transfer songs from my iPod to the Mac using the Senuti file. The major problem is that I am forced to manually add the songs and videos to my library, but whenever theres an attempt to add any videos that I have purchased iTunes shuts its application, forcing me to reopen it only the find the video is not added. I did a test by purchasing a new video and I can see the download completing, but when it does the final part, again itunes shuts down and I've lost the video. Someone sent me a video gift and I was unable to download the video and the itunes store indicates that I have already spent the download, but its not in my library? I don't know what the problem is.

First, I'd suggest you make sure that your iMac has the latest updates: Mac OS X 10.4.9, QuickTime 7.1.6, and iTunes 7.1.1. If it doesn't, update and see if that improves things.
If not, Senuti may have created a corrupt iTunes library. You may need to delete the iTunes library files and add your tracks and videos again (and for any that haven't transferred from your iPod, you may wish to try a different transfer utility).
    Hope this helps.
