ITunes U Reports

I just recently jumped onboard our institution's ITunes U project. Lots of learning about authentication the past few days. I've solved most of those issues thanks to this forum and the supplied Apple documentiation. I'm now ready to dive into another issue.
I've seen the weekly reports that ITunes U generates, and they contain a section for "Disk Usage". Is it possible, with custom reports to get Disk Usage data based on individual courses/pages? Or does ITunes U only supply you with the overall disk usage? I would assume there is not, since such a breakdown doesn't even exist in their detailed reports, but it never hurts to ask!
Thanks for any assistance! Even a flat out "no" would be beneficial and save me some time!

  • ITunes U reports contain no data: PSM public site

For over two months, since the Queens College public site went live on PSM, the iTunes U reports we receive have contained no data. Is any other public site on PSM having this issue? we have not been able to get a response to our inquiries regarding this matter.

Are you seeing blank data in a report with "iTPSM: Usage report for yoursitename-dz year-month-day" as the subject line? iTunes U Public Site Manager weekly reports will have start with ITSPM instead of iTunes U and include -dz in the site name. • Problems Retrieving iTunes U Reports

I have been able to download the iTunes U Reports successfully; however, a new problem I have come across is that I can not retrieve any data beyond November 9th.
    Is anyone else having problems?

Yes, I reported that problem (as well as some others in GetDailyReportLogs) in this thread:

  • No iTunes U reports this week

For the first time, I did not receive my iTunes U reports yesterday, Monday, October 26th. Anyone else? Anything amiss?

    Hi Shannon,
Once every blue moon, we don't get ours on Monday either. I got mine just a few minutes ago in fact. If you don't get it after a few days, then it's likely a problem.

  • ITunes is reporting over capacity when I try and synch my iphone5.

iTunes is reporting over capacity when I try and sync my iphone5. The last time I did this I had 3GB free, so I know I have space. Interestingly, the only songs my iphone is reporting to have on it is the 11 U2 songs Apple gave me. I rebooted laptop [WIndows] and my phone.

    Thank you.
None of the initial steps worked so I did a restore. Now my problem is it tells me my password is incorrect when I try the restore. I KNOW what my password is and yet it tells me it's wrong. My password to unlock the phone is the same as my iTunes password, so what other password could it be? Or is there some other issue. Very frustrating.

  • ITunes error Report!!!! I can't get this fixed

When I open my iTunes, a box pops up and say "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." And gives me the option to Debug, Send error report, or don't send. I've sent it, followed the directions it gave me and the message still pops up. I'm getting frustrated, and I don't even know if it kept everything on it, or if I have to re-download everything again. Please help me figure this out!

    hiya!
Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close
the first thing that i check for when people report getting that message when they try to launch their itunes is a broken QuickTime.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • Itunes error report

I have installed and uninstalled the downloaded version of itunes several times. Eash time after going through the set up process the error report message pops up and I can not access itunes at all.

Hello, Molly, and welcome to the Discussions.
I'd suggest you try posting in the iTunes for Windows area. You'll be more likely to get a quick and accurate answer there than you will here in the iTunes for Macintosh forum.
When you repost, it will probably be helpful if you include the exact error message to that people know what they're dealing with.
    Good luck.

  • ITunes U Reporting and Authentication

Our institution has a public iTunes site. However, our first issue is that the administrator is unable to see what faculty and staff are creating and hosting on our institution's affiliated Apple iTunes U account. She would like to see how many courses people are creating even if they have not sent it to her to be "published." We have been on the Course Manager and the Site Manager and are not seeing this feature. Also, is there a way to see all courses from all creators at our institution (kind of like moodle or blackboard)?
Second, the faculty and staff are unable to see their traffic, usage stats, etc. for their own courses, unless the administrator makes them public in the iTunes U Catalog and shares the administrator reports. Is there a way for the course owners to see their usage stats and reports? Again, not seeing that on Course Manager or Site Manager.
Third, we can't figure out how to restrict content, or have a public AND a private side, and all the documentation seems to have been removed from the web? Is there the ability to "publish" content so the administrator can see it, but not put it in the public iTunes U Catalog? How do other institutions control what is being maintained on the institution's affiliated account?
Fourth, if the answer is to use our proxy server, how do we go about doing that? Even if it's through the proxy server, our administrator still needs to know who is doing what, which seems to mean the creators would have to send her the link to be published.
Any answers to any parts of any of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not a Public Site Manager expert, but I believe the short answer to all of your questions is "no".
As to how other institutions "control" affiliated accounts, it would appear to be based on trust. One easy possibility would be to require teachers to add an administrator as an instructor to every institutional course created. While data couldn't be aggregated like public courses, administrators would have some visibility into the content created.
I recommend that you make your interest known to Apple by filling out the feedback form:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes-u_ios.html
Fill out the form once for each point you cite above. For each submission, assume the reader has no idea what you are talking about and be thorough in your description, including workflows and reference screenshots if applicable. Finally, since only the iOS app offers a feedback form, specifically call out that your suggestions are for Public Site Manager or Course Manager (as appropriate).
    I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

  • How do I start getting weekly iTunes U report?

I've read in the iTunes U administrators' guide (pgs. 92-93) about a weekly report that is emailed detailing user interaction with iTunes U content.
My organization has an iTunes U site that originated many years ago. I am now the one charged with overseeing our multimedia offerings. How do I go about contacting Apple and getting the "owner" information updated so that I can begin receiving these weekly reports? Any suggestions?

If you are referring to your Private iTunes U site not converted to the iTunes U Public Site Manager, then weekly reports are emailed to the site Administrator email address. Public iTunes U sites I beleive are all using the iTunes U Public Site Manager and weekly reports ceased some time ago but now there is access to usage reports from within the  iTunes U Public Site Manager or you can use the iTunes Store API to request Daily iTunes U Log Reports as documented in an updated iTunes U Administration Guide.
I found the API challenging and convinced a collegue to develop a very basic command line app' Laurus to do the hard bit for me. I then import the downloaded data into a database and then do some SQL to replicate the Apple reports. The Laurus app' is not documented at all but if you are interested in using it I should be able to give you some instructions via email or the like.

  • ITunes Traffic Reports

Is there a way to get traffic reports for the podcasts that our listened/dowloaded from our iTunes site:
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=250215965
We can success get reports from podcasts downloaded from our campus page using Google Analytics, but I know we have many who use iTunes, but do not know how to get reports on our iTunes traffic.
Any help suggestions would be appreciated.

To my (non-offical/non-Apple related) knowledge, Apple does not supply any information of that nature.
Usually, the most interesting counts to most podcasters are download counts for the actual episodes. Since podcasts don't reside on Apple servers, you need to look to information from your hosting service/server.

  • Missing Option in iTunes/Podcasts/Report a Concern

As anyone noticed that in iTunes/Podcasts that according to 'iTunes - Making a Podcast documents
(http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html) in the section "Submission Errors and Duplicate Feeds." that when you wish to "report a concern" in the "choose a reason list" that there is an Option called "is mine and I would like it removed from the Music Store" . Has anyone every seen this option because I sure well haven't. Even just checked again and NO there is no option titled "is mine and I would like it removed from the Music Store".

  • ..iTunes weekly report not received

Did everyone else receive their weekly iTunes report... we normally receive ours on Monday... last week we received it on Tuesday... it is Tuesday night... some folks are screaming at me for download numbers... but, so far, no report. If no one else has received their report yet, I won't worry.

Hey Duncan... sorry for the very slow response... yes, I did receive the weekly report... it always arrives on Mondays... i think i received it once on a Tuesday... and this was I think... on a thursday... so 99% of the time it is on Mondays... anyway... i see in the new admin manual release... we can check on stats everyday... so I need to figure out how to do that... and I am really excited about implementing a search on the ETSU iTunes site... so i need to get reading about a bunch of stuff in the new admin manual... thanks!!!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

does anyone know what any of this means!
    Thanks for any help!

after countless hours of dead ends... this solved my problem ( thank you "bnoir" ) ....hope it helps anyone ealse with the message problem.....
hat one could be being caused by a problem with your QuickTime. (itunes uses QuickTime for audio and video playback.)
so let's try swapping out your QuickTime.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?
