IVR zoneset activation stuck in SAN-OS 3.3

After trying to activate a zoneset we keep seeing the following log messages endlessly repeating:

I am not at all an expert with SAN, but have been asked to help if possible.  Can anyone provide any way to unwind this stuck activation?  Not sure if clearing the ivr session will help or not and don't want to try it without knowing if it will cause the situation to get worse.  Any suggestions are appreciated.
thanks

  • IVR Zoneset activation

    Hello!
I have a working (activated) IVR zoneset in which i want to add next zone and i have three questions.
    1. Do i have to activate this zoneset when i add new zone?
    2. Do i have to make changes on all ivr enabled switches?
    3. Is it possible that this modification will stop the traffic in SAN?
    Thx for your response.
    Best Regards.

    1) yes, you have to add new zone to active zone set and activate, just like you do when adding zones to regular zonesets
    2) if IVR distribution is enabled, no
    3) if you are not messing with existing zones then no

  • Workflow activity stuck at Custom Nodes and is in Active Status

    Hi Team,
We have one issue with our Custom Order Management--> Order  Booking workflow. Can you please help us.
    Issue:
Our Workflow Activities are in the following sequence.
    Start --> Activity A ---> Activity B --> Activity C --> End
Code at Activities A, B, C involves Third part tool Integrations which involves business events, invoking Https Urls with Req/Res Xmls
Ideally whenever an issue encounters at any one of these nodes, either workflow should go back or should proceed further.
But in our case, process gets stuck at some Node (either A, B or C) with Activity status as ACTIVE. Upon checking Workflow diagram, seems there is no 'Y' or 'N' signal from any one of the above activities, once processes at respective Activity's gets completed.
Can you please review this issue and suggest if anything could be checked.
    1) We came across some hint in google and found that missing COMMIT statement could be the issue.
But we checked our custom code and there is no issue with COMMIT.
    2) We have even checked the FINAL RETURN status at each of the Activity's by adding debug messages and we could see that the return value is appropriate but not sure what is causing this
         issue.
Upon retrying the Activity from Workflow Administrator resp, the same activity (that is stuck before) is getting Completed Normally.
Also this is an intermittent issue and not sure, if this is happening inconsistently due to some environment params or some load related.
Request you to review the problem and suggest if anything needs to be checked.
    Thank you,

    Hi Team,

  • SCSM 2012 - Manual Activity stuck in pending

I have a service request that was open with a single manual activity attached. The service request has been moved to the status of closed however the manual activity is still in pending. How do i cancel or close the activity?

You will need to import the SMLETS module from
http://smlets.codeplex.com/ for the correct cmdlets. Just install the SMLets and use the command "import-module smlets" at the start of your script or powershell command line.
Make sure that your command line is constructed correctly as the portion "Get-SCSMObject- ClassName" should be "Get-SCSMObject
    -ClassName"

  • Runbook Activity stuck In Progress

    Greetings everyone,
I am currently fighting with a new Orchestrator 2012 R2 install with Service Manager 2012 R2.  Here is the current setup:
SCSM 2012 - Primary management servers with 3 secondary servers.  One of the secondaries is set just for Orchestrator
Orchestrator 2012:  3 Separate servers - Management Server, Runbook Server, and Web Server
The runbook books in question, run perfectly well from the Runbook Designer.  I created the runbook templates, applied to either a SR or IR template, and have the automate checkbox checked.  When I create the ticket through the SSP, the Runbook
Activity ticket says its in progress.  When I open up the associated RB workitem, it shows in the log that it has Successfully invoked the Runbook.  The problem is, the runbook does not start.
If I check the Orchestration Console and drill down to the runbook.  I can see the start time in there.  If I check the logs from the designer console, there is no reference to starting.
I verified the runbook is checked in.  Also, since i haven't found a good document on rights, I have the SCSM Workflow account, SCSM Service Account, Orch. Service Account, and connector account in the Orchestrator and SCSM Admin group.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Thank you Anders.  Stefan and your recommendations were spot on with the event log in the designer.  I didn't realize it, but my error selector was off on it.  There were multiple errors in there, all flagged when I attempted to launch the
    runbooks.  The error was:
Runbook 'RUNBOOK NAME' stopped: some of the Extensions are missing.
Which upon further research was the integration pack was missing from the runbook server.  When I stood this up in my lab, I had all pieces installed on one box and I didn't realize I skipped the RB server with the integration packs.
    Thank you both so much.

  • Enterprise Activation stuck at "Saved Email Messages"

    Hello all,
I am a BES user and when i tried to reactivate my BES account the "saved email messages" keep on initializing, all other items are complete.
I have tried everything including wipe device and ask my admin to delete and re-add my account and it still not solving my problem.
    Can anyone help ?
    Thanks

Your best bet would be to seperate your SMS and text messages from the Messages folder.   Open Messages, tap your Menu Key and scroll down to Options.   Click on General Options, and look for SMS and Email Inboxes: Set to "Seperate" Escape and save your changes.
You should now have a seperate icon on your home screen for you text messges.
The way the BlackBerry interface is designed is that "Messages" is a general inbox of all email/text/call logs/voicemail received on the BlackBerry.

  • Stuck at automated Activity

    Hello,
I'm new to NetWeaver BMP and in SAP in general. I've downloaded and installed the following Trial Version:
[SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.2 Trial Version|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/a0a6bd7b-3dfc-2c10-eb95-aae0f777d4ab]
I have already managed to get a workflow running with two human activities, that's no problem. But as soon as I include an automated Activity, the process get's stuck at that point, when the webservice should be called.
My BPM process looks like that:
    [View my designed process|http://floriankalisch.de/pics/process.png]
The webservice I want to use:
    [The external webservice|http://www.thomas-bayer.com/axis2/services/BLZService?wsdl]
I imported the web service from remote location and assigned the interface to the automated activity.
    The mappings should be ok.
The 'Process Visualisation' (stuck at the automated activity):

      pwwn pwwn1 fcid 0x232323
If there are multiple MDS in the IVR topology, these entries would need to be included in each of the IVR enabled MDS.
You can use CFS to form peers amongst the IVR enabled switches and then use the 'ivr commit' to propagate the config command to the other MDS.
In this example, domain ID 0x23 can not already exist in vsan 2, nor can any switch join vsan 2 using domain ID 0x23.  The same is true for vsan 1 and domain 0xAA.
Lastly, this example does reflect overlapping vsan IDs.  That is why both vsan 1 and 2 are in autonomous-fabric (AFID).  Had there been multiple MDS, and overlapping VSAN numbers (IDs), then to use IVR, those overlapping VSANs must be configured in different AFIDs.  Basically you can have a device in vsan 1, domain ID 0x12 and using IVR NAT have it zoned with another device, in another MDS, in vsan 1, using domain ID 0x12, as long as the vsans are in different AFIDs.
The intent is not to design SANs this way, but if you have case where 2 existing SANs need to have some devices communicate, and neither SAN can change the existing vsan numbers and domain IDs, there is a way to connect the 2 devices and let them remain in the same vsan keeping the same FCID.
I would always recommend putting these static entries in place, before creating and activating the IVR zoneset.  I would not recommend adding in the static entries (unless they matched what was currently in use) , as I am not sure if the MDS would log out the devices to enforce the new static mappings.  It may only use the database when the zoneset is activated, or it could put it into effect immediately.
-now you know what I know

  • IVR-NAT mode migration

    Hello folks,
i am preparing to upgrade my MDS 9513 (rev 2) and MDS 9222i to 5.2.6a code. Looking at the release notes for 5.2.x i see that i will first need to upgrade to 5.0.x and then to 5.2.x. Another caveat that i see is that we currently use IVR without IVR-NAT and this configuration is no longer support in 5.2.x. Release notes provide the commands to migrate to IVR-NAT mode that seem to be relatively simple. I understand that this will require an outage.
Has anyone done this recently, any pitfalls ? Did your IVR topology, zones stay intact ?
    Thanks

    Hello Dynamoxxx,
    - Yes, many customer did the migration from IVR NON-NAT to IVR NAT without issue. There is disruption for IVR zone only, since the active zoneset need to be deactivated.
    - Confirmed, IVR topology and zones stay intact after this process.
To migrate to IVR-NAT mode, follow these steps:
    1. Stop or divert all applications on servers that depend on IVR.
–If CFS distribution is not enabled for IVR, then perform steps 2 through 4 on all switches where IVR is enabled.
–If CFS distribution is enabled for IVR, then enter the ivr commit command following step 2, step 3, and step 4 to distribute the changes to other switches.
    2. Deactivate the IVR zone set by entering the no ivr zoneset activate command.
    3. Enable IVR NAT by entering the ivr nat command.
    4. Activate the IVR zone set by entering the ivr zoneset activate command.
    5. Start or reestablish all application that were stopped in step 1.
The network can now run in IVR-NAT mode.
Also, you can use Fabric Manager GUI to enable IVR-NAT as follow:
    1.  SAN --- > Fabric xx --- > All VSANs --- > IVR --- > Deactivate Zoneset
    2.  SAN --- > Fabric xx --- > All VSANs --- > IVR --- > action --- > Check box "Enable IVR NAT" --- > Click enable button --- > Click CFS
    3.   Zone --- > right click IVR --- > edit Local Full Zone Database --- > Select zoneset --- > Activate
    Hope this help

  • Ask the Expert: Cisco UCS Troubleshooting Boot from SAN with FC and iSCSI

Welcome to this Cisco Support Community Ask the Expert conversation. This is an opportunity to learn and ask questions about Cisco UCS Troubleshooting Boot from SAN with FC and iSCSI with Vishal Mehta and Manuel Velasco.
The current industry trend is to use SAN (FC/FCoE/iSCSI) for booting operating systems instead of using local storage.
Boot from SAN offers many benefits, including:
Server without local storage can run cooler and use the extra space for other components.
Redeployment of servers caused by hardware failures becomes easier with boot from SAN servers.
SAN storage allows the administrator to use storage more efficiently.
Boot from SAN offers reliability because the user can access the boot disk through multiple paths, which protects the disk from being a single point of failure.
Cisco UCS takes away much of the complexity with its service profiles and associated boot policies to make boot from SAN deployment an easy task.

    Hello Evan
Thank you for asking this question. Most common TAC cases that we have seen on Boot-from-SAN failures are due to misconfiguration.
So our methodology is to verify configuration and troubleshoot from server to storage switches to storage array.
Before diving into troubleshooting, make sure there is clear understanding of this topology. This is very vital with any troubleshooting scenario. Know what devices you have and how they are connected, how many paths are connected, Switch/NPV mode and so on.
Always try to troubleshoot one path at a time and verify that the setup is in complaint with the SW/HW interop matrix tested by Cisco.
    Step 1: Check at server
    a. make sure to have uniform firmware version across all components of UCS
    b. Verify if VSAN is created and FC uplinks are configured correctly. VSANs/FCoE-vlan should be unique per fabric
    c. Verify at service profile level for configuration of vHBAs - vHBA per Fabric should have unique VSAN number
Note down the WWPN of your vhba. This will be needed in step 2 for zoning on the SAN switch and step 3 for LUN masking on the storage array.
    d. verify if Boot Policy of the service profile is configured to Boot From SAN - the Boot Order and its parameters such as Lun ID and WWN are extremely important
    e. finally at UCS CLI - verify the flogi of vHBAs (for NPV mode, command is (from nxos) – show npv flogi-table)
Step 2: Check at Storage Switch
    a. Verify the mode (by default UCS is in FC end-host mode, so storage switch has to be in NPIV mode; unless UCS is in FC Switch mode)
    b. Verify the switch port connecting to UCS is UP as an F-Port and is configured for correct VSAN
    c. Check if both the initiator (Server) and the target (Storage) are logged into the fabric switch (command for MDS/N5k - show flogi database vsan X)
    d. Once confirmed that initiator and target devices are logged into the fabric, query the name server to see if they have registered themselves correctly. (command - show fcns database vsan X)
    e. Most important configuration to check on Storage Switch is the zoning
Zoning is basically access control for our initiator to  targets. Most common design is to configure one zone per initiator and target.
Zoning will require you to configure a zone, put that zone into your current zonset, then ACTIVATE it. (command - show zoneset active vsan X)
Step 3: Check at Storage Array
When the Storage array logs into the SAN fabric, it queries the name server to see which devices it can communicate.
LUN masking is crucial step on Storage Array which gives particular host (server) access to specific LUN
Assuming that both the storage and initiator have FLOGI’d into the fabric and the zoning is correct (as per Step 1 & 2)
Following needs to be verified at Storage Array level
    a. Are the wwpn of the initiators (vhba of the hosts) visible on the storage array?
    b. If above is yes then Is LUN Masking applied?
    c. What LUN number is presented to the host - this is the number that we see in Lun ID on the 'Boot Order' of Step 1
Below document has details and troubleshooting outputs:

    Thanks,

  • FCIP interface stuck at initializing on 9216i v2.1a (vsan segmented)

Following the instructions in both the config guide and troubleshooting guide to configure the FCIP profile and interface, my fcip2 interface status is stuck at initializing. Looking in FM events tab, I can see that the 9216i's are cycling between these states: vsan merged; N_Port unmanageble; vsan segmented and N_Port Up. show fcdom domainlist on the higher priority switch shows it flip-flopping between [local] and principal] [local] states. Using show zoneset active, I can see the zoneset being transfered over to the 2nd switch. Despite all this, the fcip interface does not stay up. Thanks for helping.

Just going from your info, it sounds like the interface comes up for a little bit of time. More than likely then, the issue is MTU. You have an MTU configured larger than somewhere in the network can handle it. If you get the show log output and it shows alot of TCP retransmissions, this is the problem.
