J2EE SCS Message port

The default port that the installation uses for the j2ee message server is 36xx, where xx is the SCSxx number.  This is similar to the way an ABAP central instance (DVEBMGSxx) is setup also to use 36xx.
But the central instance is completely configurable at installation by changing the entry in the services file to point to whatever port you want the ABAP instance to use.  example:
sapmsSID         35xx/tcp
would put my ABAP instance message server on port 35xx.
With a J2EE only, or even a J2EE add-in, installation, there doesn't seem to be a pre-configurable option.  So, it just assigns it to 36xx, according to the instance number chosen for the SCS.
To change it after installation, I went to the config tool and got the instance properties and was able to make the change, save it, and restart the instance.  But then the dev_jcontrol log would say that it could not use it:
Thr 1] ***LOG Q0I=> NiPConnect: connect (146: Connection refused) [nixxi_r_mt.
cpp 8633]
[Thr 1] *** ERROR => MsIAttachEx: NiBufConnect to nysapdev2/3436 failed (rc=NIE
CONN_REFUSED) [msxxi_mt.c 633]
[Thr 1] *** WARNING => Can't attach to message server (nysapdev2/3436)
[rc = -1
00]reconnect [jcntrms_mt.c 354]
When I switch back to the initial port (it was 3666), it works.  I'm certain the port I chose (3436) is open.  I'm certain that the host name (DNS) is resolved.  So, I'm thinking there must be another place that the instance is looking to use the correct port.  Any ideas?
I really wish this was configurable during installation.....

Siva

  • Restart of J2EE failed messages

    Hello,
is there a job or a process which I can schedule to restart failed messages in the J2EE Adapter. I know the job for the messages on the ABAP Stack before they are handed over to the J2EE Adapter. At the moment we do it by hand but we would like to have an automatic process or job repeat the failed messages.
    Has anyone done this?
    Thanks
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
Messages in the Adapter Framework are automatically retried 3 times (default). There is a parameter in one of the AF-related services in Visual Admin that determines this count (I think under XI AF Messaging System). Beyond that, I don't think you can do anything automatically

  • Messages port forwarding Telstra cable modem

Anyone know how to get Messages video chat to work with the new "BigPond Ultimate Cable Home Network Gateway". It's the Netgear CG3100D-2BPAUS.
Messages worked just fine using the old Motorola cable modem but stopped with the new one.  I've tried setting up port forwarding as per:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1507
    and: http://portforward.com/networking/static-Mac10.4.htm
    but no luck.
    Thanks

    HI,
Does this device (and the firmware on it) have UPnP ?
UPnP allows multiple devices use the same ports (Port Forwarding does not)
This means you can leave the modem/router doing DHCP to Issue IP addresses  and it will not matter if the computer gets a new IP now and then.
In a one computer set up it is likely to always get the same IP when you start it up.
    1) because you probably restart it before the lease time runs out
    2) because there is nothing else to "take" the number.
However with Smart Phones, Games Consoles and multiple computers you may find that with out setting up IP address that don't change, either by Static routing or Address reservation that computers (And other devices) will swap IP addresses and set ups like Port Forwarding will not work - they tend to list which IP to send stuff to.
The Port Forward  site lists only a CG3100 (plain, no suffixes)
Presumably you have used the info on the Port Forwarding bit to learn the access User ID and Password.
I linked to the AIM talk set up (Portforward.com > Chose Brand > Chose Model > dismiss advert page > chose App > set up instructions)
Using the link at the bottom to see the Router's screen Shots I went to the Basic set up one
    http://screenshots.portforward.com/routers/Netgear/CG3100/Basic_Settings.htm
Near the bottom of the menu is UPnP
On most Netgears it is enabled by default.  Specific Screen Shot.
On some devices setting up Port Forwarding or Port Triggering and having UPnP on can cause conflicts.
UPnP is needed for Screen Sharing in Messages or iChat.

  • Default J2EE engine user / port

Dear forumpeople, I cant remember what i entered there during installation but im pretty sure i kept it default. So what are the default J2EE Engine (Visual Manager) Login / port /pass ? Or is there a way to find em?

M8, just as I figured it out, you came with the rescue. But thank you very much, points are added.
For the people looking for an answer:
    1.      Choose New.
           2.      Enter a display name and choose Direct Connection to a dispatcher Node.
           3.      Choose Next.
           4.      Enter at least the following:
    ¡        User Name: Administrator
¡        Host: 04. For example, if your J2EE instance number is 15, the P4port is 51504.
           5.      Choose Save and connect with your new login account by choosing Connect.
           6.      Enter the password for the J2EE_ADMIN user and choose Connect. (Default: abcd1234)

  • SIP/JSR180: Register Response lost as host throw ICMP message: Port Unreach

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a VoIP application using JSR 180 for mobile device using Java Wireless toolkit.
My VoIP application is trying to register an IMS core network.
I am using J2ME emulator to develop/test the application.
My application is correctly sending REGISTER request to IMS core and wireshark shows that IMS core sends correct 200 OK for REGISTER request.
My application is sending the REGISTER request from a dynamically selected port (eg. 3456) to 5060 to my proxy and the response 200 OK is coming to the same port, but my host system throws ICMP message quoting "Port Unreachable".
I guess, the UDP port (3654), is closed as soon as the REGISTER request is sent to network from J2ME enviroment.
Is there any need for some special setting/configuration so that the port is not closed.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Shiv

    Sorry I have the lines:
    sipConnection.initRequest("REGISTER", sipNotifier);
    and not
    sipConnection.initRequest("REGISTER", null);
in my code....the code in the previous post has that error but also with sipNotifier it doesn't work due the same problem.

  • SolMan 4.0 - SCS instance allocates wrong ports

    Hello,
we have a solution manager 4.0 installation on IBM iSeries (System i / AS 400).
Kernel is 700 with patch lvl 92/dbsl patch 70.
Central instance is number 50, scs instance is 51.
The system is running in so far that I can logon to it and transaction SICK reports no errors.

Looking at the running jobs, i see that jcontrol, msg_server and server0 are not running.

    Hello Mr.Hermsen,
some profile parameters were set wrong by the installation routines.
SAP send me some reference profiles from a running solution manager installation and I synchronized our profiles accordingly.
I cannot remember exactly which parameters were wrong, but i guess it was one of the port numbers.
    Good luck and best regards,
    Jürgen Scheckelhoff

  • ABAP and J2EE ports

Dear @all, I had in past two links to check all available ports smply by requesting two urls like http://hostname.domain.de:8000/sap/public/icf_info/icr_groups; but for J2EE and ABAP ports...
I'm interested to find out quickly the JMS and MSG Server Ports and Instance ports... could you help me pls to find out?

thx, but unfortunately this is not was I mean... not for XI engine, I search the info pages for general NW systems...
if 50110 page is empty; how I have to interprete this?
    I found one of them:
    ABAP message server list:
    http://hostname.domain.de:8101/msgserver/text/logon?version=1.2
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/67/f2a88355de4690a429a25ef83c89b2/content.htm
OK, and it is the same for J2EE ...
    thx for your help

  • How to find port number of message server

    Hi All,
Is anyone there who could tell me how to find out port number of message server (Message Port)?  I am defining new system in my SLD so I need port number of message server of the system that I am connecting to. Thanks in advance.
       Best regards

    Hi,
Go to the index page of the url,
type http://hostname:http port in Internet browser.
for ex : if installation is done on system with IP 172.16.28.90
and your http port is 50000(depends on Central instance number,JCxx)
    then type http://172.16.28.90:50000.
1.then go to system information tab in index page.
    for the credentials asked,type,
    user:administrator
    password:master password given during installation.
then system information page opens,in the left corner top,you can find message server port.
    reward points if helpful.........
