J2sdk 1.4, Redhat RPM, specify install directory?

Hi,
I need to install the 1.4 sdk to a software repository that requires I install it to '/usr/local/java', and the rpm installs to /usr/java. I tried using --relocate, but it says it's non-relocateable.  How can I accomplish this?  symlinks are not a viable alternative in this case!
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. However, It appears that BOTH
downloads for redhat are, in fact, rpm's. Downloading
the tar file results in getting a '.bin' file, which,
when run, simply produces an rpm! ???Nope... the one you want is a download from the row "Linux GNUZIP Tar shell script". That one will, when run, create a directory in the current directory called j2sdk1.4.0. :-)
It's not Red Hat specific, but there should be no problems getting it to work in Red Hat.

  • How do I specify JDK install directory for JDK 1.6 (silent install)

    How do I specify the JDK install directory (on Windows, and on other platforms) using silent install parameters?
    I know how to specifry the install directory for the "public install directory" for the JRE, but what about the JDK directory? I don't want to put it on the "C" drive .

    I know the answer.
    You can use something like this: jre-6-rc-windows-i586.exe /s INSTALLDIR=D:\java\jre
    Then JRE is installed into D:\java\jre
    For more information, please read: http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/install/jre/silent.html

    Thanks a lot!

    Actually yes, I did read the docs. Shall we say, the docs and the error messages could use some improvement.
    ie.
    xen is not mentioned at all in the install page. Nor in the table of contents.
    Since dkms was "recommended", and the error messages referred to it, I spent a lot of time searching for that package.
    You can see all the struggle I've been doing.
    It's very highly doubtful I could have installed this without your answers.
    Thanks a lot for your help!

  • How to specify source directory in File sender adpate using (NFS)?

    Hello experts,
    I am doing File-PI-Proxy scenario.
    Input file is available on machine which is within the Network area and FTP is not available on that machine.
    For this reason I am using the NFS Transport Protocol.
    In ID File sender I have specified Source Directory:-
    IP Address\Directory
    I am geeting the Error in RWB as 'Configured source directory '
    IP Address\Directory' does not exist'.
    Please suggest how to specify the Source Directory path.
    Regards,
    Jagesh

    Hi,
    If you want to use NFS protocol, then the file needs to be within the a folder in the XI server and not outside it, In your case if you need to use the file in a different machine which is on a network then try to use the FTP protocol.
    Refer this blog:
    /people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/08/01/along-came-a-file-adapter-mr-ftp-and-rest-of-the-gang which shows the details of how you can install a local FTP and use it

  • How to use the cgicmd.dat to specify a directory name for desname

    Hi folks,
    What I'm trying to do is use a command key to specify the directory for a file, specified via desname. Here's an example.
    cgicmd.dat
    custom_reports_dir: /some/directory/custom_reports
    Then I want to reference it via something like this..
    http://server:7777/reports/rwservlet?cmdkey=rpt_connect&destype=file&desname=custom_reports_dir/test.pdf&desformat=pdf
    Where in the above example, I'm trying to use the command key to specify a directory name, and then append a file name to it. It isn't working for me, is this possible to do? I figure since it's not an argument in itsself, it's being interpreted literally, rather than being substituted for the parameter.
    Thanks very much,
    -Adam vonNieda

    That depends on how you actually run your program in the first place. If you just use a batch file you could simply make the path to the javaw.exe relative (e.g. jre\javaw.exe cp lib\myJar.jar com.MyClass). Or you could look into some third-party software that allows you to create installations packages for Java. I have used Zero G's InstallAnywhere before and they have support for you setting up their executables to use a bundled jre. I am sure all the other java install makers have similar functionality.

  • Patching WebLogic server - Unable to locate the specified product directory

    We are trying to apply the October CPU patch to our WebLogic 10.3.6 installation on Windows Server 2003.  However, when we run the below command:
    bsu -install -patch_download_dir=E:\ofm11g\utils\bsu\cache_dir -patchlist=BYJ1 -prod_dir=E:\ofm11g\wlserver_10.3
    We receive this error:
    Unable to locate the specified product directory.[E:\ofm11g\wlserver_10.3]
    That directory is valid.  We are running two instances using this WLS installation - Oracle Reports 11.1.1.6 and Oracle Portal 11.1.1.6.  We are trying to apply the patch with the same user that installed the software.
    I was able to successfully run this command on a different server that runs Oracle Internet Directory 11.1.1.6.
    Any ideas?

    I was able to fix this by ensuring that E:\ofm11g\wlserver_10.3 contained two files: .home and .product.properties.  After I copied these from a different server and edited to fit my environment, I was able to successfully install this patch.

  • Uek-rpm-config rpm similar to redhat-rpm-config ?

    I'm new to Oracle Linux and have installed OL 6.2 and booted in UEK kernel 2.6.32-300.3.1.el6uek.x86_64.
    I'm building the Qlogic FC driver qla2xxx against the UEK kernel using the spec file.
    But the driver is built for kernel version 2.6.32-200.el6.x86_64.
    This is because the macro %kernel_module_package in the spec file picks up information for 2.6.32-200.el6.x86_64 kernel.
    Any idea if uek-rpm-config rpm is available similar to redhat-rpm-config so that the driver is built for the correct UEK kernel version.
    Any other pointers on how to get this resolved.
    Thanks in advance.

    Here are some more details of what I’m doing and need more info about.
    I want to update the qla2xxx driver, for new upcoming hardware, for UEK in Boot from SAN (BFS)
    Environment.
    For this purpose I’m using ddiskit, which is kernel driver update tool and can be found at below link,
    http://dup.et.redhat.com/ddiskit/
    Since Oracle Linux has two variants of kernels installed, in my case they are,
    2.6.32-200.el6.x86_64 and 2.6.32-300.3.1.el6uek.x86_64.
    Here the qla2xxx driver dd.iso is generated using ddiskit for 2.6.32-200.el6.x86_64.
    Using this dd.iso I’m able to boot from a SAN disk.
    Now I want to prepare the dd.iso using ddiskit for 2.6.32-300.3.1.el6uek.x86_64.
    Here is where I need more info.
    1.     Can ddiskit be used for UEK kernel for BFS environment the way it can be used for Redhat Linux kernels.
    2.     If ddiskit is not supported for UEK then what is the recommended method to update the driver for UEK in BFS environment

  • Is there a way to create a new directory or file in application install directory programatically

    Hi to all,
    Is there a way to create a new directory or file in
    application install directory programatically.
    I want a xml file to be created with in the application
    install directory programatically(not the application storage
    directory)
    I have used the following code snippet:
    var file:File = new File();
    file = File.applicationDirectory;
    file = file.resolvePath("assets");
    if(!file.exists)
    file.createDirectory()
    I am thrown an exception when using this .....Security
    Exception

    Thanks, but my main problem is to delete the locally stored
    data that is stored in the application storage directory when the
    application is uninstalled.
    The data is not being deleted automatically when the
    application is uninstalled, thats why I want to write some file to
    application directory.
    My application is remembering the login username and password
    even I uninstall the application and reinstall the next
    time.

  • In past versions of CVI, using OpenFile with no path meant to look in the local path (in other words the install directory). Is there a way to do this in CVI 2013?

    I use an .ini file to allow the users to change the bootup preferneces for the program. In the past that file lived in the install directory and OpenFile could cheerfully find the file and apply the preferences. In CVI 2013, the program seems to need an implicit path to the file. Is there a way around this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I'm not using CVI2013 yet, but in any case you can build up a full pathname for a file in the application folder using GetProjectDir and MakePathname commands at runtime.
    Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • ScriptUI get path to indesign install directory

    Does anyone know if there is a way to get a users path to their install directory?
    I have script, that creates a new menu item when Indesign starts up.  the menu item is clicked, it opens another script.
    Right now, I have the path to the second script hardcoded, which works fine:
         C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS5.5\Scripts\Scripts Panel\DM_Core\DM_RemoveMenu.vbs
    but now I have to give this to other users, and I need to know if there is some way to get the installation path that they have to their indesign.
    Ultimately, what I would like to get is this:
         C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS5.5\Scripts
    I have tried scriptsFolder but that doesn't take me to the right place.
    Anyone have any ideas.
    Thanks,

    This should get you what you want:
    function GetScriptsFolder (){
              var scriptsFolder = null;
              do{
              // On Mac this is a folder inside the app package
                        var appFolder = Folder.startup;
                        if (! appFolder.exists){break;}
                        scriptsFolder = Folder(appFolder + "/Scripts");
                        while (appFolder.exists && ! scriptsFolder.exists){
                                  appFolder = appFolder.parent;
                                  scriptsFolder = Folder(appFolder + "/Scripts");
