qjackctl executes the following on jackd startup:
chrt -f -p 89 `pidof "jackd"`
I'm using an Echo Indigo IO on a satellite a135-s4656.
With wireless disabled, kernel26rt (2.6.21.rt8) from proaudio repo gives no xruns with 64 frames/period.
With wireless enabled, kernel26rt gives plenty of xruns.
vanilla kernel gives xruns both ways...
Is there a way to swap IRQs between wifi and the card slot?
Any ideas??  Is acpi an issue?  I need the wireless enabled because I'm trying to collaborate by routing Ardour through Skype.

So I finally figured this out... The following page was enlightening:
http://tapas.affenbande.org/wordpress/?page_id=6
I guess the vanilla kernel is a regular preemptible kernel without threads for hard irqs?
Anyway, the following worked for me with the real-time kernel:
chrt -f -p 99 `pidof "IRQ-17"`
I had tried this before with the vanilla kernel, but I was confused because I couldn't find a pid for any IRQ process.  I didn't realize that this had to do with what type of kernel I was running.
Anyway, everything works great now (jackd running with a priority of 75), even with compiz fusion cranked up!

• Brand New mobo (P6NGM) with IRQ Conflicts, PLEASE help

I've posted multiple times in another well respected PC forum and have not resolved my issue yet. Would GREATLY appreciate assistance.
Here's my story and attempts:
I'm building a new PC for my parents:
mobo: MSI P6NGM
cpu: Pentium dual core e2200 (800fsb)
memory: 2g DDR2
video: Radeon 9600PRO 256MB PCI-E
I'm having problems in Device Manager.
the modem (Smart Link 5k Voice Modem) and something called the NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller both have a yellow-exclamation point on them and when I looked at their properties\device status says:
Quote
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use (code 12).
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.
I have all of the current drivers and latest BIOS installed (and confirmed).
I believe it's telling me I have an IRQ conflict and when I looked at the Device Manager \ Resources by Type, it tells me that there are 3 devices on IRQ 7, 2 devices on IRQ10 (my PCI-E video card and the 56k modem), and 2 devices on IRQ11 (the NVIDIA nForce PCI System Management).
I did a google search and tried disabling the com ports 1 & 2 (but could only find & disable com port 1)
but this didn't improve the problem.
I also tried un-plugging 2 front USB-2 ports from the mobo.
no improvement there either.
meanwhile, IRQs 2, 3, 4, 9, 14, and 15 are empty. Is there any way to assign to these?
Please help.  I just built a dual core AMD with another MSI mobo for my daughter last month and didn't have any issues with it.

yes, i tried switching to the other PCI slot (this mobo only has 2). no improvement
Last night, I also tried disconnecting everything (3 USB ports connected to the mobo) and performing a fresh install of XP. I was extremely disappointed that this didn't work either.
I also tried unistalling all of the devices on IRQ10 and rebooting with IRQ10 Reserved (so all of the devices would be assigned to something else). Then I uninstalled the modem again and enabled IRQ10, hoping that everything would have been assigned elsewhere and only the modem would be assigned to IRQ10 this time.
NO LUCK!
I've NEVER had so much difficulty with IRQs, and only installed 2 devices: the PCI-E video and a PCI modem.

• IRQ conflict

My DAQ PCI-MIO doesn't pass the configuration test and looking in the device
manager of Windows 95
I see a memory conflict which can be solved easily by assigning a new range,
but also a IRQ conflict with
my IDE controller. I dont't manage to solve that last one. I know for sure
that there are IRQ adresses available,
I can't change anything in the device manager and the boot manager also doesn't
give me possibilities to
change anything. Dell says that I should contact NI, but here I also don't
find a solution. Can somebody
help me??

You can only change the IRQs using the NIDAQ Configuration Utility or
Measurement & Automation Explorer if you are using Windows NT and an AT board.
If you are using a PCI board, the board's resources are assigned by the BIOS at
boot-up, and they can only be changed from the BIOS. If you're experiencing
resource conflicts with a PCI-board, I would suggest switching PCI slots,
preferably to one closer to the motherboard. Some BIOSes will let you reserve
resources. Try reserving an IRQ for your board. You can also try upgrading
your BIOS. If you're using a DELL computer, I would recommend trying all
revisions of their BIOS to see if that resolves the problem.

• PCI-1428 BIOS IRQ conflict on boot

My PCI-1428 board works fine in a Dell Diminsion 8600. Moved it to a new Dell Optiplex 780 and I get a bios error when I first turn on the computer saying there is an IRQ conflict. Is there any what to get this card to work in the Optiplex 780?

Hi JoePar,
I found a good KnowledgeBase that explains
this issue. I think it might be helpful to look at it, and try what's suggested.
You also might want to contact your PC manufacturer to see if they have any
Bios updates or so for your PC.

So, my first question is obvious, what's wrong with my system?, am I missing some BIOS setting?, I believe APIC may have something to do, but this isn't the case because it is enabled (at least it says so in BIOS). I have the latest BIOS for this mobo (5.40)
The second issue is something strange that Sisoft Sandra keep telling me: "SMBIOS/DMI information may be inaccurate", an here's what the help says:
=================================
Notice N224 - SMBIOS/DMI information may be inaccurate. This information is reported verbatim and cannot be checked by Sandra. While brand-name companies set this information most generic manufacturers use generic data that is meaningless. This issue generates more technical support queries than all other issues combined.
Fix: If the information is not correct, check for a BIOS update (clear DMI pool) or fix any errors using the DMICFG tool provided with the board. Alternatively, disable Sandra’s DMI/SMBIOS reporting from module Options.
=================================
Is this "normal"???
Anyway, I hope any of you to be able to help me.
Thanks in advice,
Fernando

Although I am unsure as to what is exactly your problem, but from what I see everything seems ok
Regarding the Sisoft Sandra remarks, don't worry about it.
Regarding the Computer in Device Manager
Try changing it to
Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
This has not given me any problems at all.
Here is my system example
IRQ 0   System timer   OK
IRQ 1   Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard   OK
IRQ 3   Communications Port (COM2)   OK

• 10.10.2 wifi bluetooth conflict

Hello
My MBPR 2014 mid 13" updated 10.10.2, but my wifi problem as before.
Each time when turn on Bluetooth, wifi speed become very slow. then if i turn off bluetooth, the wifi speed back to normal. how can fix it ???
Thanks !!!

So far, so good.  I went from to 10.10.2 and it worked well for a while.  Then my ISP provider began having connectivity problems and many errors. This seemed to trigger bad behavior in my Apple networks.  Soon my network was back to a crawl.
One symptom I haven't seen reported is that once in a while when I woke my Macbook Air from sleep characters were coming from somewhere that kept filling up my password entry.  I had to turn my keyboard off and go through Bluetooth discovery in order to get that to stop so that I could log in.  A conflict between WiFi and Bluetooth could explain it.
In any case my network came to a crawl this evening again.  I turned off my Bluetooth devices so that I could use my network.  Found this post, chased the link, and it seems to have resolved my problem.

• Xbox/wifi comcast conflict issue

Let me start this by saying I really don't know I'm trying to learn. Ok now that's out of the way I've noticed there's a post from a comcast employee about a conflict between xbox live and comcast that's not allowing some ppl to play over wifi network. My question is if comcast or isp's are not able to effect or control wifi speeds only hardline how can 1 game or certain games be blocked but other devices or even other games have no issues?         I'm truely trying to understand here I have bad wifi problems and have been through all techs/ ideas anyone can suggest. No one has an answer. They all say my equipment should have no issues. I think its something on comcasts side simliar to this xbox issue. As in there's something in or associated with my act that's effecting my wifi. Everyone I talk to says there is no way to effect or slow or even stop my wifi withouth effecting my hardline, but this issue with comcast and microsoft admits there is some form of wifi control beyond the hardline. I'm not looking for a debate just really curious here.

Cool thanks for response! I have been through all steps possible to reduce interferance literally all. I can tell what equipment I have seeings how this post is getting more help than my actual help request. I currently do not have comcast gateway, but comcast is basically telling me its only way to get my wifi speeds So I ordered one to try local office only has old units.  I have been thru 3 complete upgrades to try to resolve this issue. I started with my own motorola/arris sb6850 after a month a ph tech thru comcast sugested it maybe a bad unit so willing to try anything I take back get replacement. I use for week to make sure no change wifi still 50% of direct connect 2ft away from modem/router. Then I give in knowing gateways don't have wifi power of separate router.    I return gateway pick up netgear cm400 modem and netgear ac band r6300 router. I again get all set up check direct connect all good wifi still 50% of direct. This time I try netgear support after they have me change some internal settings and try for the usual 48 hrs still no change. Netgear then tells me wifi is bad in unit. Reluctant to believe I have yet 3rd bad wifi in my stuff I still listen. I then return R6300 router and pick up netgear nighthawk go thru same process wait week call support ect. They netgear then tells me I have another bad wifi in router. Keep with me now that's 4th bad or defective unit supposedly.    After over many hours of netgear support I decide rather than just return "defective" router (I don't think it actually was). I return modem as well. This time I get motorola/arris sb6121 modem, and ASUS rt-ac68p router (not a cheap unit). After all set up thru comcast and asus still no change. Direct connect I'm still getting 100mbps wifi 50 or under usually under. Again these test are within 2ft of router with no interferance and nothing else connected or running direct connection. I call comcast "tech support" again they say I need gateway unit only way to have wifi speeds and rule out my equipments supposed possible conflict issues with each other even though I fully checked. I even tried comcast wifi "support" few days ago this person suggested it was just a speedtest site being incorrect even though I use xfinity speed test, and ookola (speedtest.net) both of with powered by ookola. Plus I tell person its not just numbers if I have 1 streaming unit I have slow lagging issues on other devices. If I truely was getting 105 or 100 mbps or even the 50ish I'm getting according to tests this should not be happening.      This is my annoying frustrating true story. Tomorrow or next day my gateway unit from comcast will be here even though its nothing compared to current equipment. Oh I forgot to mention I've had multiple techs come to my home at least 6 probably 10. I have irratated many ppl trying to get this issue resolve through comcast. I'm polite but def frustrated.

• Remote Play Connection Issues - WiFi / Bluetooth Conflict / Interference?

I have been looking forward to this feature on my Z3c and it was finally released yesterday. Connecting to my PS4 and using the touch screen controls works flawlessly. However, as soon as I connect my DualShock 4 via Bluetooth, lag and connection issues occur. Turn off Bluetooth, and everything is fine again.
I experienced a simular issue with a Moga Bluetooth controller a few weeks ago - after it was paired with my device, my Wifi connections became intermittant and unstable, even when the device was disconnected. Eventually fixed the issue by deleting the controller pairing from the Bluetooth settings.
My point is, is there an issue with Bluetooth and Wifi conflicting with each other? I have tried changing settings on the router but I am convinced the issue is on my phone. Bluetooth works fine, Wifi is fine, but both together I believe there is an issue.
Does anyone else experience the same problem, or have a fix? I was looking forward to Remote Play with a DS4 but at the moment it is unplayable.

@pit77
I recommend that you first try it with your existing access point/router. Remote Play also works over 2.4GHz but WiFi performande depends on many factors like the access point, reception, channel width, other networks and devices that transmits on the same band (for example bluetooth devices, baby monitors, micro waves, wireless keyboards). With a 5GHz access point it's less likely to have performance issues as this band usually less crowded.

• IPhone wifi router conflict issue!

Something has gone awry somewhere, help!
My set up at home is thus.
One Ethernet router to which two PCs and one MacBook are hard connected, plus one wifi router connected to the Ethernet router, to which my iPhone connects to.
It has worked fine since I installed the wifi router.
This weekend, me and my other half have been away. I think it may also be the first time (but I don't recall exactly) that my iPhone has been turned off fully since I put the wifi router.
Anyway, we came back from our weekend away.
Other half put all the computers (well, his and mine) on, and the routers both come on too. His internets and mine were working. I had a bath then turned the iPhone wifi on and this, for some reason suddenly knocked his PC offline with the message:
"Windows-System error
There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network"
Now I'm not an expert but I assume this to mean two computers are attempting to sit on the same IP (I thought maybe the iPhone's wifi reset to router 192.168.1.1 - that's the IP it's telling me the connection is on.)
However his PC is almost definitely on .0.2 or .0.1 not 1.1 so I don't know why there's a conflict.
I just plugged the wifi router back in with the iPhone's connection off. His PC's internet works again. Very very odd. HELP!
My PC doesn't seem to be affected (not tried the Macbook yet, I expect it to be fine). He tried a different port on the router for his PC ethernet cable, and that made no difference! Baffling!
I'm not sure my iPhone is using the wifi when OH's PC is connected either, despite it saying that it is connected - I'm almost 100% definite that it's using the GPRS signal I get here, it's running very slowly.
I have tried changing the IP Static address to another number, that doesn't seem to have helped.

One common cause of address conflicts is when a system comes back online after an extended period in stand-by or hibernate mode, especially if the system was previously part of another network (e.g. an iphone brought home). A conflict will promptly occur if the address the system was previously configured with is the same as one that's already in use on the network. These conflicts tend to work themselves out. IP conflicts tend to eventually work themselves out in DHCP environments because systems issues repeated requests for valid addresses. But since the process can take a while and doesn't always work as planned, one way to hasten a fix is by manually entering IPCONFIG /RELEASE and IPCONFIG /RENEW from a command prompt (restarting a system accomplishes the same thing but takes a lot longer).
If the conflict persists even after renewing the IP address, it may be because your system's been re-issued the same address it already had and another system on your network is the source of the problem. You can get a clue about the offender by checking the System Log within the Windows Event Viewer (which you can get to via Start|Control Panel| Administrative Tools|Event Viewer) and looking for a DHCP error entry. The entry will list a network address (actually a MAC address) which you can use to identify the conflicting device, either by running IPCONFIG / ALL on a Windows system or checking the label on the back or underside of a non-PC device. Performing a IPCONFIG release and renew or restarting the other device should set things right. If not, restarting your router should do the trick as it will reset the DHCP server and force all systems to request new IP addresses.
1. Turn off everything on the network, ALL the machines and any other network device like network printers and NAS drives.
2. Turn off the router and modem.
3. Turn on the modem, wait for a steady data light.
4. Turn on the router, wait two minutes.
5. Turn on the network devices and computers, one at a time.
Enjoy!

• CMEDIA / AGP IRQ Conflict

I have a KT4 Ultra (MSI-6590) with BIOS v1.4.  Am using the onboard CMEDIA audio with a GeForce4 Ti4800SE AGP video card (8x).  The devices seem to be sharing IRQ 16 and it is causing my audio to stutter during certain graphically intense applications (games).  I need to know how to resolve this conflict BESIDES using an add-on audio card.  Thanks.

From what I understand, the only way to disable 8x is with a piece of scotch tape.  That's just not something I'm willing to do - stick a foreign substance in my AGP slot.

• PCI/AGP IRQ conflict in Win2000

Frenchy writing from France
Angry & impatient I am, but first things first, my specs:
PSU: Antec Trueblue 480W
Mboard: K7N2 Delta-L, BIOS 5.2
RAM: 2*512 Mb PC3200 Samsung, set at 400Mhz
CPU: Athlon XP 2400+, set(o/c) at 11*200 (thus 1:1 with RAM)
Winfast Geforce 4Ti 4200 AGP 4X
Creative SBlive 1024 now in PCI slot 3
HSF: Taisol CGK760172, fan in extraction mode (to reduce chipset temp by 5°C!!!)
Enermax 80mm case fan
Two recent HDDs (Maxtor) & optical drives (Liteon)
USB ADSL modem
APIC disabled
OS: Microsh*t Windows 2000, SP4
System status: CPU 49°C, chipset 47°C (weather temp: 41°C!)
Here goes:
My system sometimes crashes when I simultaneously play a movie, and an mp3 (I get a "sound loop", system freezes, no blue screen but I need to reboot) or on even rarer occasions (only once, actually) when I send an email (this time I got the dreaded blue screen.
I have pinpointed a possible and highly probable cause for this: my Vcard and soundcard share the same IRQ (IRQ11 to be precise). My SBlive used to be on PCI slot 2. This was (and still is!) my IRQ share/conflicts table:

IRQ 11   OpenHCD standard USB Host Controller
IRQ 11   OpenHCD standard USB Host Controller
IRQ 11   Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller
IRQ 11   Creative SB Live! Value
IRQ 11   NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200

IRQ11 is thus not shared only by the Vcard & sound card, but something told me that the first 3 lines of the table did not matter, however I've often heard (and read, even in this forum) that having a graphics card & sound card share the same IRQ is definitely not a good idea and should be avoided by all means.
Forgive my lack of knowledge, for I'm but a mere newbie in this matter. This I tried:
- Enabling APIC (whatever it is ?( I just know that it sort of "creates" more IRQs), to no avail: the number of IRQs, their layout and conflicts table remained unchanged.
- Moving SBlive from slot 2 to slot 3 and reinstalling its drivers: NOTHING changed either, soundcard IRQ remained at 11 !!!  ?(  ?(  ?(
Upon entering 'system properties' and 'devices', when selecting the SBlive card, in the 'resource' thumbnail, everything is greyed out, no parameters can be changed! Same thing applies to other devices such as Vcard, too...
A most desperate situation this is, for it would seem that changing a PCI card's IRQ in Windows 2000 is simply IMPOSSIBLE, sacrebleu!
Needless to say, this makes me mad X( , I mean really, really MAD

If anyone could help...

Changing WHAT??? If you mean the IRQ, as I said that seems impossible in Win2000 (if somehow could tell me how I'd be most grateful). If you meant changing APIC setting to 'enabled', how do I enable it in windows?
But the question remains: how is it that when changing soundcard's PCI slot its IRQ remains unchanged?? ?(

• [TV@Master] Possible IRQ conflict?

I recently purchased and installed MSI TV@nywhere Master and encountered nothing but problems since.
I had a hell of a time convincing MSI that I was in Canada and not in Afghanistan. It would also not believe I had a cable hooked up to it. I finally got that fixed then I tried setting up the channels using Autoscan ... WOW what an experience that was. For a few minutes I could actually see TV channels whipping by. Then nothing but a black screen.
I tried a reboot and got a hissing noise before XP even started. I was not sure if it was the TV tuner or the radio, so I opened MSI radio and then shut it down. The hiss disappeared but so did my internet connection. Actually the router shut down one port. I run a Blitzz Wireless G router with 2 computers hooked up by LAN cable and one using the wireless. Both the other computer on LAN and the one on wireless stayed connected.
I uninstalled both the MSI PVS and radio and did a reboot. Nothing! I had to repair XP from the CD to get back to where I was before the fiasco started.
I am convinced there is a conflict somewhere and am looking for solutions before returning the product and buying a different brand.
Would the drivers mentioned in another thread be the solution or using a different PCI slot?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. I hate downtime.

download the beta drivers from the sticky, uninstall the TV tuner drivers and MSIPVS application, then follow the installation instructions in the TV@nywhere Master sticky, and the beta drivers sticky

• T420 WIFI & WWAN conflict

I have a couple T420 model Thinkpads with the Qualcomm Gobi 3000 chips installed and being used on the Verizon network.  The problem is that when the user connects to the Gobi, they get disconnected after a specific timeframe, be it 10 or 20 minutes.  Thinking it was a Verizon issue, they helped troubleshoot the issue and it looks like the Gobi chip disconnects when the WIFI card in the laptop starts polling for nearby WIFI networks.  I had one of the reps manually turn off the WIFI radio when he used the Verizon connection though the FN+F5 shortcut, but he called back later to say that the radio turned itself back on after 10 minutes to start polling nearby networks again and knocked him off.  Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere or an update I need to apply so I can get the WIFI radio to stop polling at regular intervals when another connection is being used?

Turn off the wi-fi master switch. Should be on the left front corner.
That also turns of the WWAN card, so it not going to do anything useful for this problem.

• IRQ conflict on Dell Inspiron 5100 with DAQCard 6024E

Hi,
I have DELL INSPIRON 5100 and I am trying to make working my DAQCard 6024E , but it gives me following error on MAX Device Test Panel: The Device is not responding to the First Level IRQ. Would you like to continue anyway? Please see attached file for IRQ allocation on my Laptop.
What kind of drivers you requested from DELL? Can you please share those drivers so I can try out for my laptop.
Thanks,

Wow, it looks like you have quite a bit of stuff on IRQ 10. My guess would be that another device is using that IRQ and not letting the 6024E use IRQ 10. Fortunately, it looks like you should have plenty of other resources available, so I would try to configure your card on another IRQ. Hopefully you can go to the properties on that card in the device manager and try to manualy set the IRQ to one that isn't being used. Good luck.
Steve.
