Java Export ( ABAP+JAVA) BI 7.0

Could someone please help me to understand ..
1 . Purpose of java export
2 . Should we take java export immediately after database backup (ABAP) completes . how these two ( ABAP+Java) , how they are interrelated .
3.  If database backup ( ABAP) fails for a given day , then is it fruitful to take java export of that particular day .
Thanks

Hi,
1. Purpose of java export
Because complete recovery of java system can only be possible with file ssytem recovery.
2 . Should we take java export immediately after database backup (ABAP) completes . how these two ( ABAP+Java) , how they are interrelated .
Yes
3. If database backup ( ABAP) fails for a given day , then is it fruitful to take java export of that particular day .
Nope it will not help you to recover the ssytem.

Vamshi.

  • SAP Solution Manager ABAP or JAVA or ABAP+JAVA ?

    Hello.
I want to install Solution Manager for use Maitenance Optimizer ( accept download baskets, configure other SAP system, support packages ...).
I wanted to know if installing ABAP instance is enough? or I have to install Java also?
    Regards,

    Amit,
SAP Solution Manager is separate application.  You need ABAP+Java stack to use Maintenance Optimizer.
Please read documentation from following link

  • System copy NW04S ABAP+Java same host

    Hi All
I have this dev system ECC 6.0 (SAP_SID and DB_SID: D01) ABAPJava system and enterprise portal 7.0 (SAP_SID and DB_SID: P01) on the same host (hostname: host1). Now I need to do a system copy of the D01 ABAPJava system to build new system D02 on the same host - host1. Its Oracle 10g/Solaris 10.
My understanding is, after all preparations, to run sapinst with the 'database-independent procedure' to export ABAP+Java at the same time, which creates the Migration Export CD image. Does anyone know of any issues with system copies on the same host? I think I dont need to install Oracle software as its already there, right? I need to get the oracle and sap directories created for the new system D02, please correct me.
    Thanks
    Ali

    Hi,
My understand was have the same installation of ABAP+JAVA ( UR CASE) which will install oracle and everything else auto...and lauch sapinst >> system copy >> then export to anyfolder, move that folder to target system. In target system, launch sapinst >> system copy>> and import.
    Thanks,
    Feel free to revert back.

  • (ABAP+JAVA) system is too big to export/import

We have some NW04s and ECC6 dual stack systems that we want to frequently clone using homogeneous system copy method.
However they can be as big as many terabytes.
Is there a way to clone they using a way other than export/import?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0, you can copy ABAPJava systems in one run using either database-specific methods or database-independent methods. In a ABAPJAVA stack system, you need to run a separate export for the Java engine to archive SDM and application specific file contents. You will have to supply that java Export location on the target system, while performing DB specific system copy procedure.
Please refer [system copy guide for ABAP+JAVA stack |http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000670917&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000112&_OBJECT=011000358700000416402008E] along with the previously suggested links to get more information.

  • Perform an export for both ABAP & JAVA in one shot with WAS 640 SAPinst ...

    Hello,
I have to perform an OS/DB Migration of a SAP XI 3.0 (WAS640-SR1), an ABAP + JAVA addin configuration.
I would like to know if SAPinst for WAS640 (and SR1) could perform an export for both ABAP & JAVA in one shot as it seems possible in NW7.0 SAPinst version. None of the WAS 640 OS/DB migration guides gives these possibility.
And if not not, could U confirm that I have to perform 1st an export (with R3LOAD) of ABAB stack, then  an export (with JLOAD) of the JAVA one ?
And apply the same way for installation with R3load and JLOAD downloaded files ?
    Thks in advance
    Bernard Accoce
SAP Basis Consultant - TeamWork in Toulouse (France)

    Hi Bernard,
No, both exports cannot be executed in one single step. You have to execute the procedure twice, once for ABAP and once for Java, like you already mentioned yourself..
For the import applies the same.
    Kind regards,
    Mark

  • ABAP Export in MSCS ABAP+Java Import

    Hi,
I have an ABAP export from an HRP system (not a cluster one). I 've set up a new MSCS system for HRP, which is ABAP+Java and I know want to import the db to this new system. Should  I consider anything before or after the import? Will the Java work correctly after the import? Or should I set up again the MSCS system with ABAP only, import the db from old HRP system and then install a Java Add-In in order to work correctly?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. And pointly appreciated also. Thx in advance.

  • ABAP+JAVA system copy using 3rd party export/import tools

    Hi all,
I am trying to do a homogenous system copy.  I am following the syscopy guide for SAP NW 7.0 SR3 ABAP+JAVA systems
We are running AIX 5.L and Oracle.
My question is this.  We are using an IBM XiV system for our disk storage, and we are able to restore from "snaps" which is their version of images.  Does anyone know if it is possible to restore or "import" the data in a system copy using an outside tool like this?  If so, do you have any information on how to?
I know it is possible to restore the database from an offline backup using BRTools rather than r3load and jload, and I just wanted to see if I can restore from a snap as it would save a lot of time in the procedure.
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    That approach is not supported.
The reason is: combined instances write the instance name and hostname in various places, on the filesystem in .properties files, in the JDBC configuration, depending on the java applications you run on top in various other places. What you're trying to do is effectively "renaming" an instance.
Technically it's possible to do it and to get it run, yes, but the supported way is running sapinst and choose ABAP + Java system copy. This will prevent you from lots of (not really documented) manual work after the copy.

  • DB refresh on Netweaver 7.0 ABAP+JAVA system - Issue

    Dear Folks
I am having an issue with starting the Java instance after system copy.
    This is the situation
System QAS database was refreshed from system PRD.
Both the systems are on NW 7.0 Ehp1 SP 18, in a HPUX/ORACLE environment.
Our normal landscape is full of R3 systems so teh DBA's have been historically doing DB refresh by copying for teh Oracle fileystems and then renaming the schema and some post db refresh activities to get the DB in teh target system up and running. Pardon my terminologies I ma not a DBA. The abpove procedure has worked fine with R3 systems.
But with the above mentioned Netweaver system ABAP instance is running fine after refresh while Java instance is not since SMSICM-> Goto-> HTTP Server -> DIsplay Data is showing
    HTTP Application Server Handler
    ABAP Server operational        = TRUE
    J2EE Server configured         = TRUE
    J2EE HTTP port                 =
    J2EE HTTPS port                =
    J2EE Server operational        = FALSE
Default root access handler    = ABAP
URL Prefix Table loaded        = TRUE
There are no other dumps or errors in the system and teh startup logs do not show any error. I have looked up online and the System Copy Guide for 7.0 systems and I understand SAP recommends using sapinst. But I would like to know if there is a workaround to fix the j2ee instance.
I have seen a few forumns where people have had similar issues but no solution.
FYI, The the Instance_IDXXXXX in the SAP J2EE Engine- Config Tool in system QAS is that of PRD and there is no entry for the instance ID of the QAS system.
I have tried changing all the entries that are pointing to PRD under Cluster_Data-> Instance.properties.IDXXXX to that of QAS and saved and restarted but no luck as the Instance_IDXXXXX of QAS does not show up in teh config Tool menu.
All the properties files at teh OS level are pointing correctly to QAS, so I would liek to know if there is any way to change the config on eth DB level.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
When you go for ABAP+JAVA system refresh please always ose the JAVA export method .
Take the JAVA export of the source system with the help of sapinst.Check the j2ee_admin and the ddic password of source system.
then you need to get the offline backup of the Source system.
then import it on the target system wth the help of sapinst and in the middle it shall promt you to restore from the backup of the source system.
Always use this method as JAVA stores it file at file system level and in the database. So you need both the files .

  • Homogeneous System copy of ABAP+JAVA stack ( PI )

    Hi everyone,
I am planing to do Homogeneous system copy of our existing NW 7.0 SR3 PI System ( ABAP + JAVA).
Can anyone help me with step by step details to do in source system and target system?
    Thanks..

    Hi,
You should follow the system copy guide for the different option while doing the system copy
    - database dependent
    - R3load based (export/import)
The following document you can use as a reference, (note -this has been done on database dependent method)

  • Abap+java stack

    Hi,
My sap is running on ecc6.0,linux with maxdb(abap+javastack) we are  taking backup  through database manager in tape.while restoring it will ask any java files.
    Thanku

    Hi
Thanks alot for ur quick response.
If I want to follow SAP System copy(export/import) procedure using sapinst tool , I need to shut it down the SAP instance , which is not possible everyday.
Is there any way out to take backup of ABAP+JAVA stack  to tape and restore in another machine using last sucessfull backup  using backup/restore procedure(Database Manager).
How can I take backup of ABAP+JAVA stack without shuting down the SAP Instance by using any sap standard tools (sapinst) and can be used to restore in any new machine in case of emergency?
    ThankU

  • ABAP / Java stack refresh

Does anyone have documentation on how to do a refresh for an ABAP / Java system?  I've done a system copy to create a new system with SAVLIB/RSTLIB by:
    Export the SDM
    Saved ABAP Database
    Saved Java Database
Run the system copy with RSTLIB option on the target system, but when I did this, the system didn't already exist on the target side.
But if I have a development system (say abc) and want to refresh it with production (xyz), how would I do this with the addition of a java stack?
We have documentation and have done this plenty with just an ABAP stack, but not so with an ABAP/JAVA stack.
I would think if I tried to use the system copy method mentioned above it would error because the target system (abc) already exists.
Can anyone clarify for me?  Thank you.
    ~TJ

    Hi TJ.
Looks like your question is not specific for SAP on System i. Most likely you get more answers when you ask it in an platform independent forum. I would suggest the SAP NetWeaver Application Server forum.
But I think it would be very interesting for many of us here in this forum to let us know if there is a easy way to accomplish the refresh.

  • Help in ABAP+JAVA Homogeneous System copy

    Dear BASIS Gurus,
We have SRM 4.0, Portal 6.0, BW 3.5 and XI 3.0 based on WAS 640, all with
    ABAP+JAVA stacks in HP-UX B.11/Oracle 9.2.x.
We are planning Homogeneous System copies to refresh our Development
    environment.
After reading the instguides, I'm a litle confused about the best
    strategy to use.
Using SAPINST in the source System to export the Database, I have the
    dump files with Database data.
Do I must run SAPINST again to get the JAVA data (both database and
    filesystem data)?
In the target system do I must do two runs of SAPINST ? One for ABAP
    and other for JAVA?
    Yhanks in adavnce.
    Best regards.
    Arnaldo Calçada.

    Hi Arnaldo,
There are basically two method of performing system copy.
    1. Using database tool (you can use backup/restore procedure)
    2. Using SAPINST tool (export/import)
This is applicable for both ABAP and JAVA.
Do I must run SAPINST again to get the JAVA data (both database and
    filesystem data)?
It depends which method you are using.
In the target system do I must do two runs of SAPINST ? One for ABAP
    and other for JAVA?
Yes if you are using 2nd method.
    Hope this will help.

  • Abap+Java System Backup

    Dear Experts,
We just take our bi system(abap+java)  backup online, so could you please help me which files we need to backup during the Sap system is online,
As the below help.sap.com link said that for filesystem backup "Create a backup of the SAP system directory /usr/sap/<SID>." (before we need to stop SDM)
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/4b/d8f23ea4b42e5ae10000000a114084/content.htm
Can we backup entire /usr/sap/<SID> directory while sap and db is still runnig ? if not which directories we need to backup ?
Should we backup filesystem and db backup at the same time for a consistent backup, or can we schedule separately filesystem and db backup if there is no deployment exist between db backup and filesystem backup schedules,
    Best Regards,
    Atakan

As suggested you can either go with the ofline backup for the abap and for Java you need to have the filesystem backup.
Or you should go witht he file system backup of all the file system. But for that you need downtime.
So what i shall suggest you thet go vith the online backup and have the archive log on and have archive logs backup too.
And just the online backup completes have the Java export of the Java system of your BI.Durng the exportthe SDM will stop while the Servernode and the dispatcher service will be running,so no error will occur when some one is using the JAVA BI.
This is the safest method ad you can recover the JAVA system any time. Please also have an offline backup at weekends of the abap system when its down.
Please check the Password of DDIC of client 000 and the J2ee_admin before taking the export.
    Thanks

  • ABAP + JAVA system copy

    Hi
My enviroment is SAP ECC 6 (ABAP + Java add in though we don't use the Java stack) on Oracle 10g/Solaris 10.
I intend to do a system copy(PRD to QAS) using offline backup/restore method.  Is this possible for a ABAP + JAVA system using this method ?
    Thanks

    > Karan , I'm just wondering I'm i supposed to do two separate  system copies in the case ie One ABAP (backup/restor) & the other for Java(export/import)?
    Read the system copy guide.
    Basically you will
    - start sapinst on the source system and choose "database specific method"
    - start sapinst on the target system and select the same
